[00:00:18] Abbot Elementary Season 4 Episode 2 Ringworm and Episode 3 Class Pets are over but class is in session here on Recap Kickbacks Abbot Elementary Post Show Recap. That's right, it's me Chappelle. We're back again to talk about another episode of this amazing show. We're two and three episodes now into Season 4 and we have to keep all the average coverage coming here for all the people who are on YouTube who wanted to make sure they could come and check out our recaps because me and my lovely co-host here are back at the end of the show.
[00:00:48] Once again, Gia, welcome back.
[00:00:51] Thank you so much, Chappelle. I am so excited to be back but if anyone thinks of messing with us, just remember I am not the one or the two so make sure my child is home at three.
[00:01:02] That part, oh we got so much to talk about. This was a good episode of Abbott Elementary, obviously. We don't have any bad episodes of Abbott and so we're back on our old stuff. As you know, if you've been listening, we cover Abbott Elementary every other week.
[00:01:15] So we're bringing you episodes in pairs and to probably the finale and then we'll bring it back after that for the second half of the season, probably in the spring.
[00:01:23] But right now, Gia and I have a lot to discuss because Gia, I really enjoyed these episodes of Abbott Elementary this week.
[00:01:30] Now listen, I love every episode of Abbott Elementary.
[00:01:33] Every episode.
[00:01:33] However, I feel like a strong emotional attachment right now to these two episodes.
[00:01:41] Like I am not even joking.
[00:01:43] I have watched Ringworm at least five times and that is a low estimate of how many times I've seen this episode in the two weeks since it has been out.
[00:01:52] And I also loved Class Pet. It was two very strong episodes.
[00:01:57] It was very, it made me very excited for the rest of the season.
[00:02:01] And it also just gave us more great character moments.
[00:02:05] I have seen so many funny tweets about Ringworm in particular, but it just made my day.
[00:02:10] They were fantastic episodes and I've been so excited to really digest it with somebody.
[00:02:16] So I'm so excited.
[00:02:17] Yeah, we got a lot to talk about in these episodes.
[00:02:21] First thing I want to flag, we always love to talk about our opening credits, you know, the cold open that we get here on Abbott Elementary.
[00:02:30] And Class Pet was one thing, right?
[00:02:32] The boxes on the curb, little Jaquan out here stealing from Abbott, trying to get a hold of these boxes with these new computers that we just got from the bribe with the golf course people.
[00:02:46] But the first cold opening we get in episode two in Ringworm.
[00:02:51] Oh, my God.
[00:02:54] Barbara teaching the Wild Wild West line dance took me out of the game.
[00:03:00] Did you know this was like an actual line dance before this episode?
[00:03:05] Yes. So the thing is, well, I didn't know that it was a line dance that people actually do.
[00:03:09] I thought it was like for the music video and then that was it.
[00:03:11] Nobody ever returned to that.
[00:03:13] So I knew about the men in black dance that they do in that video.
[00:03:16] And so I, too, thought Barbara just got the information wrong, as she does sometimes.
[00:03:21] But no, the way they hit that line dance and Jacob hitting the finger wag.
[00:03:25] Yes.
[00:03:26] Oh, my God.
[00:03:27] It was so good.
[00:03:30] One of my favorite cold opens in the show's run thus far.
[00:03:37] Incredible work.
[00:03:38] We got Tariq back.
[00:03:40] We got Amber back.
[00:03:41] I believe Amber's the name of the mom.
[00:03:43] The mom with a bitch tattoo on there.
[00:03:44] With a bitch tattoo.
[00:03:45] Which I had our, we said in the premiere, we would love to interview her.
[00:03:49] So Abba just listened to our prayers and was able to say, you know what?
[00:03:53] You want more of her.
[00:03:54] We got her.
[00:03:56] And it completely makes sense with her character that she would also be a member of the PTA.
[00:04:00] So I'm really hoping that means like that is a sign that we are going to see more of them moving forward.
[00:04:05] Yeah.
[00:04:06] Yeah.
[00:04:06] Seeing Tariq as the spokesperson for the PTA is still hilarious to me.
[00:04:11] When he hit them with, please have some decorum.
[00:04:13] Damn.
[00:04:14] I feel that.
[00:04:15] I felt that in my soul.
[00:04:17] But they did have some important questions to ask during this opening sequence, including, what is Will Smith's best movie?
[00:04:24] Gia, that's a question for you.
[00:04:27] What is Will Smith's best movie?
[00:04:29] What are we here for?
[00:04:29] Because it's not Bagger Banks.
[00:04:31] It's not.
[00:04:36] It was talking about there, but it's okay.
[00:04:38] It's okay.
[00:04:38] Yeah.
[00:04:38] I am a pursuit of happiness girly, honestly.
[00:04:43] I remember seeing that in theaters with my dad and like really tearing up during that.
[00:04:49] Though, you know what?
[00:04:50] I will hear Quinta out about Wild Wild West.
[00:04:53] That's a fun one.
[00:04:55] Yeah.
[00:04:55] Pretty soon they get it.
[00:04:57] They didn't.
[00:04:58] It was too early for them.
[00:04:59] Like, you know what I'm saying?
[00:04:59] It was too soon.
[00:05:00] It was too tech forward, all that good stuff.
[00:05:04] You know, it's funny that you bring that up because I think that Pursuit of Happiness is so high on my list.
[00:05:09] But I have to give this man credit for the entire Bad Boys franchise.
[00:05:14] You know, the way I've watched those movies.
[00:05:16] Yeah.
[00:05:16] I just think Will Smith, first of all, we can't say enough here on Recap Kickback about how great Will Smith is as an artist, as a performer, as a, you know, whatever.
[00:05:24] He slapped Chris Rock and Chris Rock deserved it.
[00:05:25] I stand by that.
[00:05:27] Oh, no, no, no.
[00:05:27] That is like the public platform.
[00:05:30] Like, this is Recap Kickbacks.
[00:05:32] Recap Kickbacks.
[00:05:33] Chris Rock's policy on this is that Chris Rock deserved it and he knows what he did.
[00:05:38] Yeah, he knows exactly what he did.
[00:05:39] Get him again.
[00:05:40] Get him for me.
[00:05:40] So, yeah.
[00:05:41] Will Smith's love here.
[00:05:43] Of course, the opening sequence with the dance number.
[00:05:46] Everything was just perfect as far as I was concerned.
[00:05:48] And so we jump into an episode that is, it's got a few things going on.
[00:05:53] But the big storyline here is that one of the kids has ringworm.
[00:05:58] And I don't know, you know, that feeling where you could feel the goose, like the goosebumps on your shoulder, like your skin is crawling.
[00:06:04] That was me because I've said this before.
[00:06:07] Me and Gregory have a lot in common.
[00:06:08] And I just don't do nasty children.
[00:06:11] Like, ooh, this was bad.
[00:06:13] This whole episode, I was just like, I got to get out of here.
[00:06:15] Barbara was making my skin itch.
[00:06:17] Oh, God.
[00:06:19] Miss, I am immune.
[00:06:21] No.
[00:06:22] Oh.
[00:06:22] Cut it out.
[00:06:23] Cut it out.
[00:06:23] You know who was really making me itch?
[00:06:25] And I'm glad that this was like a follow through joke in the whole episode.
[00:06:31] Jacob's scratching his face.
[00:06:33] It is a recurring thing throughout the episode.
[00:06:37] And like, I, I, and I hate touching my face, right?
[00:06:42] Like with my bare hands.
[00:06:44] I need to like, I need to wash my face before it.
[00:06:47] But you could see him playing with his ear, fidgeting with his nose, like touching his face all the time.
[00:06:52] I'm like, Jacob, do you not see what is happening around you?
[00:06:55] Like we are in a mess right now.
[00:06:57] So even at the very end where he's talking about how he's a medical marvel,
[00:07:00] but that was the recurring moment that I just, I could not get over.
[00:07:04] I could not get it.
[00:07:05] Like, just stop touching your face.
[00:07:07] It's crazy because the more you tell me to stop touching my face,
[00:07:10] I'm fighting so hard not to touch my face.
[00:07:13] That's the problem.
[00:07:14] Now my nose is itching.
[00:07:15] So I just got to do like a little itch there.
[00:07:17] I'm sitting here trying to, I'm just going to tap.
[00:07:19] Okay, there you go.
[00:07:20] So, yeah, it's the idea that you shouldn't touch something that makes you want to touch it even more.
[00:07:26] These kids are nasty.
[00:07:27] As I said, I will repeat it.
[00:07:28] It was nasty.
[00:07:29] Kids get germs.
[00:07:30] That's the thing.
[00:07:31] Every fall, we'll see these random ass viruses going around
[00:07:35] because you send your kids home for the first time all summer that you sent them to school
[00:07:39] and then they start to touch each other.
[00:07:41] The smaller ones are really awful.
[00:07:43] And honestly, the high school ones be bad too for other reasons, but we'll get to that.
[00:07:47] And so the little kids, they put their, they touched up.
[00:07:51] They don't wash their hands adequately.
[00:07:52] They haven't really learned the value of hygiene the way that us adults have learned.
[00:07:56] Thus, the germs spread pretty quickly.
[00:07:59] And I don't care that Barbara thinks she has immunity.
[00:08:03] Barbara would have had to go home that day.
[00:08:04] I would have, I am not the one or the two.
[00:08:06] Okay.
[00:08:06] So Barbara, you got to get the hell out of here.
[00:08:08] I'm sorry, Mrs. Howard.
[00:08:09] Normally, we're on the same page, but Gia, she's walking around dapping up the students
[00:08:14] that we're supposed to quarantine.
[00:08:15] What are we doing?
[00:08:17] She's getting coffee.
[00:08:18] Who has time for coffee during a time like this?
[00:08:22] Like, oh God, no.
[00:08:24] I was with Melissa on this one.
[00:08:27] Like everyone, stay in your room.
[00:08:29] There's an in-ground hot tub at stake here.
[00:08:32] In the ground, like someone that you have to call a contractor, a contractor, not a
[00:08:38] task of operation to get implemented into your abode.
[00:08:44] And everyone's just walking around like there's no big deal touching each other.
[00:08:48] Just like stop.
[00:08:50] And also wash your hands while you're at it.
[00:08:52] Not enough people take that seriously.
[00:08:54] And it's disgusting.
[00:08:56] Yes.
[00:08:57] Melissa shaved above the knee.
[00:08:58] Uh, so it was, she was ready to get in that in-ground hot tub.
[00:09:03] That was her, like her number one objective.
[00:09:05] And it just felt like everybody wanted to stand in her way of accomplishing one goal.
[00:09:10] All she asked was time for time in the in-ground hot tub.
[00:09:14] In the ground.
[00:09:15] As you, as you so eloquently pointed out, a contractor had to make that happen.
[00:09:20] Okay.
[00:09:20] This is not just any old hot tub.
[00:09:22] Mm-hmm.
[00:09:22] This was not something you just bought and installed at a whim.
[00:09:26] Like you had to actually plan it out.
[00:09:29] So I, I am totally on Melissa's side here.
[00:09:32] Like some people just do not appreciate a girl getting her freak on on the weekends and
[00:09:37] her after hours.
[00:09:38] And I hate that for her.
[00:09:40] Mm-hmm.
[00:09:41] Me too.
[00:09:42] Um, the, the child at, uh, at fault for all of this little Brandon, of course, what a name
[00:09:48] little Brandon shows up.
[00:09:49] He's got the ringworm and they send his ass home only for him to come back with a note
[00:09:55] for, uh, for Mr. Hill, who has told him to take his, uh, ringworm having ass home.
[00:10:00] The note says, dear Mr. Hill, I know that, uh, what's wrong.
[00:10:07] According to the district website, my kid doesn't have to get sent home until the end of the
[00:10:12] day.
[00:10:12] And I am not the one or the two.
[00:10:16] Try Jesus.
[00:10:17] Don't try me.
[00:10:19] My kid will be staying until three.
[00:10:20] Okay.
[00:10:23] Now look, I disagree with this woman so much.
[00:10:26] Take your nasty kid home.
[00:10:28] Mm-hmm.
[00:10:28] Comma butt.
[00:10:29] If you go and send a note to the school, it better be poetry like that.
[00:10:33] I give her snaps to you.
[00:10:34] I'm sorry.
[00:10:35] That is spoken word poetry right there.
[00:10:39] Loved it.
[00:10:39] I laughed the entire time, but the mom is the villain of this episode, unfortunately.
[00:10:44] Like, it has to be said, this is not acceptable.
[00:10:48] You did make me laugh, but keep your sick kid at home.
[00:10:52] That is another thing we need to know.
[00:10:54] Now, you know what?
[00:10:54] Not enough shaming of parents that send their kids to school sick.
[00:10:59] Bring back shame.
[00:11:01] Bring back shame.
[00:11:02] Bring back shame.
[00:11:03] Bring back shame.
[00:11:04] Bring back shame.
[00:11:05] We need that.
[00:11:06] Um, cause little Brandon is, uh, okay with this.
[00:11:09] He's like, I'm back.
[00:11:09] And, uh, I've already let my Nintendo switch to somebody.
[00:11:13] So now the, the germs start to move around the school.
[00:11:17] Yeah.
[00:11:17] And they're particularly upstairs, you know, specifically, uh, which is good because you
[00:11:22] can just keep Jacob and all his nasty kids upstairs.
[00:11:26] Mr. Johnson's going to guard the stairwell completely for 24 hours.
[00:11:30] Make sure nobody comes down as long as everybody follows protocol.
[00:11:34] Okay.
[00:11:34] Because for once Ava and Janine are basically in lockstep.
[00:11:39] What did you think about this new partnership?
[00:11:41] Because although they were saying different words, the intent was the same.
[00:11:45] Listen, I'm going to be real with you for a second.
[00:11:48] Like one-on-one Ava and Janine is a very underrated pairing.
[00:11:53] Like they get stuff done when they, when Ava admits that they have similarities in there,
[00:12:00] you know?
[00:12:00] So I loved it.
[00:12:02] They are on the same page.
[00:12:03] Ava rocking her full body suit.
[00:12:06] She's also bound very much on the same page with Gregory this episode, which I feel like
[00:12:10] rarely happens here that they want to be as far away from kids and their germs as possible.
[00:12:17] They are not having it.
[00:12:18] They, uh, and that was one of the things that I loved about this episode is that we really
[00:12:23] got to see everybody's personalities come out here and, you know, doomsday prepper Ava,
[00:12:29] of course would have a hazmat suit ready to go about this as does Gregory essentially with
[00:12:35] his, uh, turtleneck overalls, gloves, all of it.
[00:12:40] Yeah.
[00:12:41] Um, so the things come to a head eventually, uh, because Jacob needs the kids to skip recess
[00:12:47] and the kids tell him this is ass.
[00:12:48] Okay.
[00:12:49] Um, and he's like, yeah, I think this is ass, you know, I shouldn't have to lock you all
[00:12:53] down and be stuck up here with you while everybody else is downstairs.
[00:12:57] But one of the kids, did you get this kid's name?
[00:12:59] Mr.
[00:13:00] I gotta go pee.
[00:13:01] And I promise I'm gonna come back.
[00:13:02] What I'm gonna do, sneak off and learn something because.
[00:13:04] I, I don't know, but he was the star of the episode.
[00:13:07] Let me see if I can find it.
[00:13:09] Yeah.
[00:13:09] What, what I'm gonna do, sneak off and learn something is such a bop.
[00:13:12] Like that is like, he ate that because he was like, this is cool.
[00:13:15] Where do you think I'm going?
[00:13:17] He killed every life.
[00:13:19] That is a future Oscar winner right there.
[00:13:21] That little kid right there.
[00:13:22] He is going to like, he's doing things.
[00:13:26] Um, let me see.
[00:13:29] He's going far.
[00:13:30] He's going far.
[00:13:31] Like every life, even when he saw him, you know what?
[00:13:33] I actually forgot to go to the bathroom.
[00:13:35] I laughed so loudly.
[00:13:39] I, I couldn't be mad at him.
[00:13:41] I could not.
[00:13:42] I loved it.
[00:13:43] Um, I, I'm still looking for the name, but I have not seen, I am not seeing his, uh, name
[00:13:50] currently, but I will report back.
[00:13:52] Okay.
[00:13:53] In time of research.
[00:13:54] He does go downstairs and make several stops.
[00:13:57] He goes and drops his vest, his jacket off to his, uh, cold sibling, uh, downstairs.
[00:14:03] What a good brother.
[00:14:04] Right.
[00:14:05] Uh, was this Gio?
[00:14:06] The sibling was Gio?
[00:14:07] Because having Brandon and Gio in the same, uh, in the same episode is wild.
[00:14:12] Don't you think?
[00:14:12] That's right.
[00:14:15] This one episode was literally made for us.
[00:14:18] Yes.
[00:14:19] Yes.
[00:14:19] But what do I get into the sick little kid?
[00:14:21] Yeah.
[00:14:22] Um.
[00:14:22] It's okay.
[00:14:22] It's fine.
[00:14:23] It's fine.
[00:14:23] It's fine.
[00:14:24] I'll, I'll get over it.
[00:14:25] But still.
[00:14:25] Yes.
[00:14:26] Um, look, we, I was patient zero as far as I'm concerned.
[00:14:29] So there you go.
[00:14:30] Um, he goes downstairs, he daps up Barbara, um, who, you know, has God given immunity apparently.
[00:14:36] And, and then, uh, it's, it's true.
[00:14:39] The, the outbreak is out.
[00:14:40] It has, uh, reached the upstairs and the downstairs.
[00:14:44] And now everybody's in a full panic.
[00:14:47] Um, the plan was good.
[00:14:49] The plan was definitely good.
[00:14:51] It was airtight, as Janine says.
[00:14:53] And it just gets really out of control.
[00:14:56] Ava ends up calling the Atlantic for, uh, whomever, uh, is in charge of great stories.
[00:15:02] She has that on deck.
[00:15:03] And then, uh, Jacob is the one who suggests, okay, we got to go with Janine and Ava's plan.
[00:15:09] We're going to quarantine them all in the gym.
[00:15:11] And we need a volunteer, a hero of sorts to go in there and chaperone the exposed kids.
[00:15:17] And sadly, Jacob is the one who has to take this out.
[00:15:20] Now, I personally thought Barbara was the one who was supposed to go and step into this place.
[00:15:23] This is her fault too.
[00:15:24] Now, listen, this is a Barbara was doing things on purpose.
[00:15:29] Jacob, it being Jacob's fault is completely on accident here.
[00:15:33] Um, I feel like that was my one caveat with this episode is I don't think Jacob should have been in the quarantine.
[00:15:40] Like, certainly not Gregory or Ava because they're not going to be any help.
[00:15:44] But, uh, I, I think Barbara should have took one for the team.
[00:15:48] Maybe Mr. Johnson since apparently he is actually immune to ringworms.
[00:15:53] Since he always has it.
[00:15:54] Um, definitely not Melissa.
[00:15:57] Absolutely not.
[00:15:58] But yeah, we need one of the, I think Barbara should have took one for the team, but also like one, one is she that person?
[00:16:05] This is very clearly a Jacob move as well.
[00:16:08] Yeah.
[00:16:09] Uh, I want, you know, Barbara does say it wasn't God's plan for her to have to watch those kids.
[00:16:16] And I felt like, okay, you can't argue with that.
[00:16:19] And who am I to say that, you know, like what God's plan is?
[00:16:24] I mean, even, even Barbara doesn't know all of what his plans are because why does God protect Barbara but not the kids?
[00:16:32] She's taking it up with the Lord.
[00:16:33] And if the Lord doesn't want to answer, then that's on them.
[00:16:37] Just maybe the kids have bad vibes.
[00:16:39] Maybe they should have a better relationship with the Lord.
[00:16:41] How about that?
[00:16:42] You know who also deserved it?
[00:16:44] The entire church choir.
[00:16:47] Yes.
[00:16:49] Which is okay, right?
[00:16:50] We don't talk enough about how Barbara is willing to be so petty that she is willing to commit, uh, bio warfare on her church choir.
[00:17:02] As they, they deserve also, but I, I'm, I'm obsessed.
[00:17:07] Like that is a level of petty I have not yet reached.
[00:17:09] I have not forgot about what the choir did and y'all will pay.
[00:17:13] If it has to be ringworm, then that's fine.
[00:17:15] But make no mistake.
[00:17:16] We have not forgotten how y'all treated Barbara and Ava.
[00:17:19] Uh, and, uh, no, we're not going for that.
[00:17:21] So I definitely agree.
[00:17:23] Bioterrorism is okay this time.
[00:17:24] All right.
[00:17:25] Just this time.
[00:17:25] Just this once.
[00:17:29] Also, we get, um, I guess the other couple that we haven't really just discussed their interest in this, uh, whole disease.
[00:17:37] Is that Gregory and Janine, they have a vested interest in getting out of here without getting a ringworm.
[00:17:42] Obviously Gregory is a germaphobe, which should be of a surprise to no one.
[00:17:46] Honestly, this feels like if you had asked me if Gregory is a germaphobe last season, despite not having the storyline, I would have said yes.
[00:17:52] Because it just kind of feels like something that he would have an issue with.
[00:17:55] Uh, and him and Janine have a date night.
[00:17:58] Uh, they have to go watch, uh, apparently they got to watch Dune 1 and Friday, the first Friday, because they've already watched the sequels and these count as the prequels.
[00:18:06] I just feel like Janine is doing this backwards.
[00:18:08] Literally doing this backwards.
[00:18:10] Listen, when you come from a broken home, that's some of the consequences.
[00:18:13] Sometimes you watch movies out of order.
[00:18:15] Listen, we got to say it.
[00:18:16] We got to say it.
[00:18:17] Because in what home are you watching next Friday first?
[00:18:20] Right.
[00:18:22] That is broken home shit.
[00:18:23] I'm sorry.
[00:18:24] I'm sorry.
[00:18:25] Like, at least my parents had me watch Friday first.
[00:18:29] Right.
[00:18:30] Exactly.
[00:18:30] But no, these are good points.
[00:18:32] These are good points.
[00:18:32] We know Janine had it rough growing up.
[00:18:34] Uh, so this is just further proof that maybe that stuff is.
[00:18:39] My parents were split up, but they had like their separate but equal homes.
[00:18:42] Okay.
[00:18:43] It works in that situation.
[00:18:44] So, you know, they want, we watched movies in order.
[00:18:47] We did have some decorum with how I was raised.
[00:18:50] Yeah.
[00:18:51] Have some decorum.
[00:18:52] Damn.
[00:18:52] Right.
[00:18:54] Um, so I'm trying to think.
[00:18:56] Um, oh yeah, of course.
[00:18:58] So one of the funnier moments that I want to talk about too, uh, with Janine and Gregory
[00:19:03] is just the idea that Janine is kind of, you know, she's, she's kind of okay with the,
[00:19:10] all right, people get ringworms.
[00:19:12] That, that is a thing that happens with these kids.
[00:19:14] Like she's, she's all about quarantining, but she's not taking this as hard as Gregory.
[00:19:17] Gregory is devastated by being exposed to this illness.
[00:19:22] And for some reason, it's this connection with Janine is good for him because he seems
[00:19:27] to be able to put that to the side and just say, you know what?
[00:19:30] Eff it.
[00:19:30] Let's have our date night regardless.
[00:19:32] And we'll see.
[00:19:34] We'll see what happens.
[00:19:35] They both end up getting it.
[00:19:36] Honestly, everybody gets the ringworm except for, uh, who, who's immune?
[00:19:40] Ava, Ava is immune.
[00:19:42] She does not get the ringworm.
[00:19:43] She ends up getting a tapeworm from, you know, a restaurant and she has no regrets.
[00:19:48] But for the most part, I thought it was, it was kind of cool.
[00:19:51] You know, we've been doing the will they, won't they with Gregory for a long time.
[00:19:53] It's on brand for him to say, all right, although this, um, ringworm has me shook,
[00:19:59] I'll put it to the side for Janine.
[00:20:00] And that's the type of cute ass content that we've been waiting for here on Recap Kickback.
[00:20:04] It was very, very sweet.
[00:20:06] And I did watch one of my many watches of this episode was with my mom.
[00:20:11] And she was like, see, that's what you need to wait for.
[00:20:13] Someone that'll risk ringworm for you.
[00:20:15] Right?
[00:20:16] Like giving the mom pep talk, but also rewind.
[00:20:20] Gregory was right.
[00:20:21] I'm sorry.
[00:20:21] He was right the first time because he should not have to be facing ringworm.
[00:20:26] Like they can, oh, the movie Friday and Dune the first will be there afterwards.
[00:20:32] Like he did not have to risk ringworm for all that I get was important to Janine.
[00:20:36] And it shows that like, they're able to overcome obstacles as a couple,
[00:20:40] but is ringworm really the obstacle you want to come up, come up, like overcome together?
[00:20:45] No, we can do smaller things, baby steps, baby steps.
[00:20:48] I want you to love me enough to stay away from me when you may get ringworm.
[00:20:53] Right.
[00:20:53] Love me enough to be healthy for us.
[00:20:56] Love me enough to stay away when you need to stay away.
[00:20:59] Like know your boundaries.
[00:21:00] Right.
[00:21:01] And so how are you going to nurse me back to health if you sick too?
[00:21:03] You know what I'm saying?
[00:21:04] Like at least get your mask on some gloves and bring me some chicken noodle soup, but stay away.
[00:21:08] But like leave the soup at the door.
[00:21:10] I do not want anyone to see me when I have ringworm.
[00:21:13] That's just not, like this is, this is a, I suffer in silence situation.
[00:21:18] I am going to just be in bed away from everybody.
[00:21:20] Like do not, do not ask me how I am.
[00:21:23] I am terrible.
[00:21:23] I will let you all know when it has passed, but.
[00:21:28] Yeah.
[00:21:28] I want to let you in on some of my secret shame from when I was in high school.
[00:21:32] Do you want to, you want to hear the story?
[00:21:34] Yes, I do.
[00:21:34] I do.
[00:21:35] I need to hear it immediately.
[00:21:36] Thanksgiving weekend.
[00:21:38] My family was coming to visit us.
[00:21:40] And, um, this Thanksgiving was momentous.
[00:21:42] We had, my mom had just split with my stepdad.
[00:21:44] And so we were living in an apartment and, you know, we were really tight knit at that point.
[00:21:48] You know, it's me, my mom, my little brother.
[00:21:50] And we're like, we're taking on Thanksgiving together.
[00:21:52] And people were like, we're going to come be with y'all because y'all are now poor and broken.
[00:21:55] And we're like, yay.
[00:21:56] Yay.
[00:21:57] When they pulled up, I heard the doorbell ring.
[00:22:00] They were there at the crack of dawn.
[00:22:02] I woke up and only one of my eyes would open.
[00:22:05] Gia, I had pink eye on Thanksgiving and I couldn't, I was just like, nobody can see me.
[00:22:12] Like you said, suffer and suffer in silence alone.
[00:22:15] I was like, and not see me.
[00:22:18] Then we drove three hours to get here and you will not see me because I have pink eye.
[00:22:23] Like it's not opening.
[00:22:24] It's nasty.
[00:22:25] And I'm okay with this.
[00:22:27] Stay outside of my door.
[00:22:28] I was miserable.
[00:22:29] I had thought I was going to take that story to the grave because it really does give me chills
[00:22:33] thinking about how miserable I was during that holiday.
[00:22:36] Cause I was listening to everybody outside the door, eating and feasting on food that they had brought us
[00:22:40] and all the, all the joy of the holiday spirit.
[00:22:43] And I'm just in the, in the room seething because I get pink eye.
[00:22:47] Have you seen the Bob's burgers episode that literally this exact same thing happens to Gene,
[00:22:52] except instead of pink eye, he has food poisoning.
[00:22:56] Yep.
[00:22:57] Oh my God.
[00:22:57] It was so good.
[00:22:58] But yes.
[00:22:58] Yes.
[00:23:00] I'm a Thanksgiving hater for many reasons, but one of my stories in there is that how for Easter
[00:23:10] during COVID when it was like the height of the pandemic and people weren't seeing anybody.
[00:23:15] The, we did a family zoom call on my mom's side with like all of us in there.
[00:23:22] Um, this is the side that I don't really align with politically or religiously.
[00:23:28] And Chappelle was the most miserable hour of my life.
[00:23:30] I swear to God.
[00:23:31] Tell me why this old wrinkly woman, my aunt by marriage, by the way, it's like, you look
[00:23:38] so tired.
[00:23:38] I'm like, I've been stuck in my room writing my grad paper.
[00:23:42] And so I cussed her out after the zoom call, but still I was like, I had a lot to say afterwards.
[00:23:49] Like, Oh God, it was just for mine.
[00:23:51] I'm like, this is why I see you once a year.
[00:23:54] Like at most, at most.
[00:23:56] And leave it at that, you know, and leave it at that.
[00:23:59] Just once a year in and out.
[00:24:00] Some people are great in small doses.
[00:24:03] Some are just better, you know, just, uh, leaving their comments to themselves.
[00:24:09] Yeah, for sure.
[00:24:10] Um, the, the episode here ends with, uh, us finding out about everybody, obviously getting
[00:24:16] the sickness here, uh, except for Ava, but we do get some very sad news from Melissa.
[00:24:22] She, she did miss out on the jacuzzi, um, the in-ground hot tub because the man, uh, was
[00:24:30] evicted from his home due to violating the HOA laws and using the contractor to get the
[00:24:36] in-ground jacuzzi.
[00:24:38] So although she thought she was getting in a hot tub, uh, there is no hot tub to speak
[00:24:42] of, uh, reason 105 why HOA laws are, uh, completely oppressive and trash.
[00:24:49] HOA is the worst.
[00:24:50] I'm sorry, who needs them?
[00:24:52] Like who, who are the type of people that are pro HOA?
[00:24:55] I have never heard them used in a positive way before.
[00:24:59] Yeah.
[00:24:59] I don't align with them politically or religiously as well.
[00:25:01] Okay.
[00:25:01] So, um, they can get cussed out too.
[00:25:04] Uh, exactly.
[00:25:06] Also, um, my favorite, one of my favorite underrated moments of the episode, Jacob is
[00:25:11] still hating on Morton and trash talking him with his kids.
[00:25:15] But this situation is so serious that the kids are like, no, I'm not trash talking you with
[00:25:20] Morton right now.
[00:25:21] It's like, no.
[00:25:22] Yeah.
[00:25:22] That was, that was the same kid that wanted to go and, uh, spread the disease.
[00:25:26] Uh, you know?
[00:25:27] So, uh, although he did create a huge problem for us, I think our alternative for like
[00:25:33] kid of the episode would be like Brandon.
[00:25:35] Uh, and he doesn't get it cause he should stay his ass home.
[00:25:38] He should.
[00:25:38] So his mama, his mama gets more cool points than he does.
[00:25:41] I think the kid of the episode is our spreader, our super spreader here.
[00:25:45] Um, because I'm telling Jacob, I ain't trash talking with Morton with you right now.
[00:25:49] I got a key.
[00:25:49] I was like, I, he said what he said.
[00:25:52] So yeah, great episode.
[00:25:54] And, uh, I think we have our all-star child, uh, gold star for that kid.
[00:25:58] He doesn't have a name.
[00:25:59] We will call him super spreader, uh, for the time being for the spreadsheet that doesn't
[00:26:03] exist.
[00:26:04] Uh, and, um, yeah, overall, I know you've watched this episode a lot, but how do you
[00:26:09] think it ranks in like your, your, uh, you know, Pantheon?
[00:26:14] I think like, oh my God, this is a, this is hard because it's definitely up there.
[00:26:20] It's up there.
[00:26:21] Like one of my favorite episodes.
[00:26:23] Um, the one where, uh, the drug, the cigarette smoking episode is also up there as like one
[00:26:30] of the best episodes.
[00:26:32] So I have to throw that one in as well.
[00:26:34] Hold on.
[00:26:35] Let me pull up my Hulu.
[00:26:36] It's got like the list of all the episodes in there.
[00:26:39] This is feeling very much like Chappelle and Gia do a tier list on Abbott Elementary episodes
[00:26:45] soon.
[00:26:46] Yes.
[00:26:47] It's feeling like off-season content, Gia.
[00:26:48] I think we gotta do that.
[00:26:50] You are picking up exactly what I am putting down for that.
[00:26:54] We definitely need to do like a, like a, a ranking, like a season ranking, but then
[00:27:00] episode within the, it, it needs to happen.
[00:27:03] Absolutely.
[00:27:05] Um, but what happens when they're all S tier?
[00:27:08] Desking was really good.
[00:27:10] Desking was good.
[00:27:11] What's the one where Ava dances to back that ass up?
[00:27:14] A classic.
[00:27:15] Oh, uh.
[00:27:16] The premiere of season three.
[00:27:17] No, wait, not development day.
[00:27:19] That was season three.
[00:27:20] Uh, career day.
[00:27:21] Career day.
[00:27:22] Yeah, career day.
[00:27:22] Career day.
[00:27:23] Career day was good.
[00:27:24] Uh, I'm trying to find.
[00:27:27] Wait.
[00:27:28] Yeah.
[00:27:28] Wait.
[00:27:28] And then Questlove.
[00:27:30] Yeah.
[00:27:30] Cree Summer.
[00:27:31] Yeah.
[00:27:31] Cree Summer's introduction was also great.
[00:27:34] Season three kind of ate.
[00:27:35] Let's just call it what it is.
[00:27:36] Season three ate.
[00:27:37] It, it did.
[00:27:38] It did ate.
[00:27:39] Uh, oh, you know what else was good?
[00:27:41] Um, oh my God.
[00:27:44] The, the one where they're selling chocolate bars.
[00:27:47] That's probably my favorite.
[00:27:49] Yes.
[00:27:49] Like up there.
[00:27:50] So it's competing with it.
[00:27:52] I'm sorry.
[00:27:52] Like there, it's all up there.
[00:27:54] Yeah.
[00:27:55] It's one of the goats.
[00:27:56] Uh, but that's it.
[00:27:57] That's, uh, episode two ringworm.
[00:27:59] Anything else before we move on to episode three?
[00:28:01] I think we're good.
[00:28:02] I think we're good to go.
[00:28:04] All right.
[00:28:04] We'll be back to talk about season four, episode three, Class Pet, right after this.
[00:28:12] All right.
[00:28:13] We're back.
[00:28:14] And although episode two was a banger, I really did enjoy this episode of class, of, uh, of
[00:28:21] Abbott, Class Pet, um, because first of all, we didn't have these at my school.
[00:28:25] Like I, I do not know the experience of having to take care of an animal at the school's expense
[00:28:29] and then being able to take it home.
[00:28:31] My mom would, she's not the one, the two or the three.
[00:28:33] She would not allow me to bring anybody's stray animal from the house.
[00:28:37] But I think the story of this episode is definitely Melissa and this connection she has to Sweet Cheeks.
[00:28:45] Uh, I was not expecting it.
[00:28:47] It was so cool.
[00:28:48] Seeing Melissa go from, I don't like pets to basically having Sweet Cheeks riding around in the front seat as she sings songs to it.
[00:28:56] Perfect.
[00:28:58] Oh my God.
[00:28:59] It was incredible.
[00:29:00] The, uh, guinea pigs just want to have fun when she's driving off with it on a show.
[00:29:05] Perfect TV.
[00:29:06] I'm sorry.
[00:29:07] It does not get any better than that.
[00:29:09] Yes.
[00:29:10] So we talked about the co-opener earlier.
[00:29:12] There's some boxes that are delivered.
[00:29:13] It's the computers that the golf people have dropped off.
[00:29:17] It's the bribe.
[00:29:18] Uh, and very quickly, the Abbott teachers are robbed.
[00:29:22] Barbara gets it back.
[00:29:23] This poor kid, or he looked like a grown ass man who had graduated from Abbott probably a long time ago
[00:29:28] and was now boosting to feed his family.
[00:29:31] Barbara, you know, rightfully says she was going to call his mom and they cleared that up really quickly.
[00:29:35] But, um, the computers are going to be the biggest source of conflict in this episode
[00:29:40] because there is an IT guy and he has to come and basically, uh, connect the new computers to the network.
[00:29:47] The problem is the district didn't okay these computers.
[00:29:50] And, um, Ava is going to do something that I thought was very interesting.
[00:29:54] She calls this, it's not lying.
[00:29:56] It's creating a memory that doesn't exist.
[00:29:58] I felt like you were going to appreciate this, Gia.
[00:30:02] I was so, I was so mad about that because why can't they accept it, accept donated computers or bribe computers, you know?
[00:30:10] Like, mm-mm, mm-mm, mm-mm, I did not like that.
[00:30:14] Yes.
[00:30:15] Create a memory that doesn't exist sounds like something that you've told me.
[00:30:18] You know, like, that's like when you say, uh, it's not shit talking, it's just comparing notes.
[00:30:22] You know, like, I was like, yeah, that's a Gia-ism.
[00:30:25] That is a hundred percent something I would, yeah, create a memory that doesn't exist.
[00:30:30] It's not lying, it's creativity.
[00:30:32] Yeah.
[00:30:33] Which means to encourage our children to aspire to.
[00:30:36] Yeah, they got to use their brains.
[00:30:38] Um, so Ava tells the teachers, you gotta lie, you gotta play dumb.
[00:30:41] Uh, and they're not really okay with it at first until O'Shawn walks in, uh, from tech support.
[00:30:47] And instantly the vibe changed.
[00:30:50] Barbara clearly thinks this man is handsome.
[00:30:53] Jacob is spitting.
[00:30:54] And Ava is not impressed at all.
[00:30:57] Gia, he's wearing glasses.
[00:30:59] What a weenie.
[00:31:00] What a loser.
[00:31:01] My God, how do you think he's fine?
[00:31:03] I don't get it.
[00:31:04] Right.
[00:31:04] I don't get it.
[00:31:05] He works in IT.
[00:31:07] Right.
[00:31:08] Right.
[00:31:09] Like, what a field, you know?
[00:31:12] She?
[00:31:13] Famously, famously a killjoy field.
[00:31:16] That's all I'll say.
[00:31:17] Did you turn it off and turn it back on?
[00:31:19] Okay, I see.
[00:31:20] We get it.
[00:31:20] You know?
[00:31:21] Um, so yeah.
[00:31:22] I was with Ava on this one.
[00:31:23] Hey, this guy's got glasses on.
[00:31:25] What is, what are you talking about?
[00:31:25] He's all right.
[00:31:26] Um, and he's, and he's here to blow up the whole, uh, operation.
[00:31:31] You know?
[00:31:32] Um, cause he's asking the hard-kicking questions.
[00:31:34] How are these computers this new if the, you know, the order was put in three years ago?
[00:31:39] Like, what are we doing here?
[00:31:40] I'm like, sir, mind your business.
[00:31:41] Why are these computers new?
[00:31:43] Where did you get them?
[00:31:44] Like, did you steal them?
[00:31:46] Stop asking so many questions.
[00:31:47] No one likes a nosy Nelly.
[00:31:49] Right.
[00:31:50] Uh, Jacob and Barbara are flirting as distractions, uh, and also just flirting because, uh, this
[00:31:56] man is very attractive to them.
[00:31:58] Again, we don't really get it yet.
[00:32:00] Um, cause Ava's right.
[00:32:02] They're wrong.
[00:32:02] Obviously.
[00:32:03] Um, and, um, and, uh, later on they will go on to, Ava will be the one actually who
[00:32:10] kind of spills the beans a little bit.
[00:32:11] Cause she starts talking about the updated operating system that these computers have.
[00:32:14] She has all this editing software.
[00:32:17] How else will she make deep fakes of, of Janine, um, that she doesn't even know about?
[00:32:21] I am so excited to see these deep fakes.
[00:32:24] I'm sorry.
[00:32:24] They're just, please release, release the Ava cut of this episode, please.
[00:32:29] Mm-hmm.
[00:32:29] The AI instigator, Ava, sitting here, uh, planting this, this stuff.
[00:32:34] Like, listen, we're, we're pretty anti, uh, AI for the most part, but I think in this
[00:32:38] case, we can let it slide.
[00:32:40] If Ava wants to use it, I assume however she wants to use it will be funny.
[00:32:45] So of course I will allow it, but she's the only one.
[00:32:48] Yeah.
[00:32:49] O'Shawn is trying to bring this, you know, attention to everybody.
[00:32:54] Uh, he's like, Hey, you guys, the computers, I got something to sell you, but everyone's
[00:32:59] talking about how great the computers are.
[00:33:02] Uh, the kids are talking about how they got Khan Academy.
[00:33:04] These kids can actually practice their math right now.
[00:33:07] You know, this is the first good thing these people have gotten in a while.
[00:33:09] Oh, Sean, you gotta let it go.
[00:33:11] Um, but my favorite part of this entire interaction with him is our girl, Cree Summer, because when
[00:33:18] she turns up the heat in the, uh, in the, uh, lounge and he starts taking his jacket off
[00:33:24] and the way she was grinning, I was like, yeah, you see.
[00:33:27] Yes.
[00:33:27] Okay, Cree.
[00:33:28] She knew what she was doing there, making dreams come true as the librarians ought to do.
[00:33:34] You can see her big ass smile too.
[00:33:35] Are you the one that brought us on these wonderful computers?
[00:33:39] Like, I know what you're doing, Cree.
[00:33:41] Go off.
[00:33:42] I love that.
[00:33:42] We miss her.
[00:33:43] More Cree Summers.
[00:33:44] More Cree and then Cree come talk to us on this podcast.
[00:33:47] How many times do we have to say it?
[00:33:48] Okay.
[00:33:48] I'm not above begging.
[00:33:49] I'm not.
[00:33:50] I'm not.
[00:33:51] I'm not.
[00:33:51] I will.
[00:33:52] I will do it.
[00:33:53] Yeah.
[00:33:54] So, um, Ocean eventually talks to, uh, to Ava and he's like, it was you, you, you have
[00:34:01] given away your position here and I understand, but I'm not going to rat on you, but you got
[00:34:06] to start sending your tickets directly to me.
[00:34:08] You know, I, if you send the IT tickets to me, I'll make sure things get updated and there's
[00:34:12] not going to be an issue for you with the district.
[00:34:14] Um, people are glancing at Janine like, Hey, don't be a snitch, uh, because she is a little
[00:34:19] of a little bit of a district rat.
[00:34:21] You know, we haven't forgotten that she took that year off.
[00:34:24] Mm-hmm.
[00:34:24] Do a little, uh, district diva.
[00:34:26] I know they said you didn't have what it takes, but you know, she's, uh, notoriously
[00:34:31] wanting to do the right thing.
[00:34:32] And sometimes that's just lame.
[00:34:35] Right.
[00:34:35] Ocean also wants to give Ava his personal number.
[00:34:38] Now at some point he does take off his glasses and then Ava puts on glasses and all of a sudden
[00:34:45] kiss me by a six pence none.
[00:34:48] The richer is playing Mr. Johnson singing it.
[00:34:50] Ava's humming it a little bit.
[00:34:52] With her, with his glasses off and those glasses on, you think we could ever see O'Shawn come
[00:34:58] back and maybe, you know, Ava.
[00:35:00] That is a hundred percent what is happening here.
[00:35:02] Like, don't even play.
[00:35:03] This is, this is happening.
[00:35:05] Um, I love it.
[00:35:07] The, uh, I am a bit of a sucker to, for enemies to lovers.
[00:35:12] There's, um, trope in my literature that I peruse on occasion.
[00:35:19] But, uh, yeah.
[00:35:20] Oh yeah.
[00:35:21] This is definitely happening.
[00:35:22] This is going to be a thing.
[00:35:23] This man was not slick either.
[00:35:25] He's going to give Principal Coleman his personal number just in case.
[00:35:29] Like, he knows what he is doing there.
[00:35:33] Like, do not play with me, sir.
[00:35:35] I was not born yesterday.
[00:35:36] He was feeling it.
[00:35:38] He really was.
[00:35:39] He likes Ava.
[00:35:40] He already is like, you know, he knows what he wants.
[00:35:44] He knows, like, this fine-ass woman is right in front of him.
[00:35:47] Giving him attitude.
[00:35:48] He likes it.
[00:35:49] Oh yeah, for sure.
[00:35:50] Um, but what happened to Andre Iguodala?
[00:35:54] Remember, uh, back in the Holiday Hookah episode where, uh, Ava pops out with, uh, her, was
[00:36:00] it her side boyfriend?
[00:36:02] I forget what Andre was to her.
[00:36:03] Hello, boo?
[00:36:04] I don't know.
[00:36:04] They were, um, listen, maybe they're on a break.
[00:36:07] They, I mean, she hooked up with somebody at the house party at the end of season three.
[00:36:12] So I'm guessing they're either, they're, I mean, they're probably broken up or, you
[00:36:16] know, that something, something happened.
[00:36:18] Or something.
[00:36:19] He, he dated her for five years, but she was only dating him for two.
[00:36:23] So it's, it's a little different.
[00:36:24] You know, it's not the same.
[00:36:26] God forbid a woman have hobbies, Chappelle.
[00:36:29] There you go.
[00:36:30] You're right.
[00:36:30] You're right.
[00:36:31] Who are me to judge?
[00:36:32] Uh, also, Holiday Hookah, it's going to the top of my tier list rankings.
[00:36:36] Okay.
[00:36:36] That's another one of those bangers.
[00:36:38] I was pissed when it aired because I really thought we were gonna, you know, they were
[00:36:42] really drafted out during that time, but it was a good episode.
[00:36:46] They had a lot of bangers in that one.
[00:36:48] Oh yeah.
[00:36:48] We came in hot.
[00:36:49] Okay.
[00:36:49] We came in hot over here on Recap Kickback talking about that one.
[00:36:53] So, uh, yeah, just, uh, yeah, we'll have to link everybody to our past coverage so they
[00:36:57] can see our thoughts about Holiday Hookah.
[00:37:00] Um, I want to get back to the class pets of them all.
[00:37:04] Uh, Janine is like, all right, I wanted to get more after school stuff going for the
[00:37:09] kids.
[00:37:10] Um, and they budgeted $50 for these children, which is insane.
[00:37:13] Uh, and so with the $50, she goes and purchases class pets.
[00:37:17] Um, Melissa gets a guinea pig.
[00:37:20] She doesn't like pets at first.
[00:37:22] Gregory gets a pet rock.
[00:37:24] And poor Gregory.
[00:37:26] Because by the end of this episode, his pet rock will be ripped into shamble.
[00:37:29] Like rip, I'm going to say this again.
[00:37:31] His rock was ripped apart by these badass kids.
[00:37:35] Now, how do you rip a rock?
[00:37:39] Smash it.
[00:37:40] Yeah, just smash it.
[00:37:41] You just gotta break it.
[00:37:41] You just, you gotta break it.
[00:37:42] We weren't even trying to be gentle with this rock.
[00:37:46] What was his name?
[00:37:47] Dwayne?
[00:37:48] Dwayne Pet Rock Johnson.
[00:37:52] It was clever.
[00:37:53] I laughed.
[00:37:54] Oh yeah, for sure.
[00:37:56] Um, so yeah, it starts off with Gregory having a pet rock ending up with shards of pet
[00:38:01] pet rock and then Melissa growing to love sweet cheeks.
[00:38:05] Um, there's a moment it like the transition to her loving sweet cheeks happens very quickly.
[00:38:10] You know, she's like, I don't want a pet.
[00:38:12] And then eventually I think she's purchasing like a bed for the, uh, the, the guinea pig
[00:38:18] because the mattress it was sleeping on wasn't comfortable enough.
[00:38:21] She was all in.
[00:38:22] Did she even lady in the tramp some food with that thing?
[00:38:24] I'm pretty sure I saw her damn near kissing.
[00:38:26] I would not be surprised about it.
[00:38:28] Uh, you know, she, she loves this guinea pig very quickly.
[00:38:31] She just had to build a little house for, uh, sweet cheeks out of popsicle sticks.
[00:38:37] Um, she made the children experience the, uh, the miracle of death.
[00:38:45] I want to say from the, uh, just so she didn't have to let them bring it home.
[00:38:51] And honestly, I don't blame her because again, kids break things.
[00:38:54] Look at what Gregory's kids did to a rock.
[00:38:57] Um, I did love Gregory's like, as much as Melissa says she hates pets, Gregory hates pets.
[00:39:05] Like he is definitely a pet rock guy.
[00:39:07] And I love that they stuck to the bit the entire time.
[00:39:10] Yeah.
[00:39:11] He was not jealous about anybody else's pet.
[00:39:13] Like that was, he likes rocks.
[00:39:16] He did not even want to pet the guinea pig.
[00:39:18] Which is also interesting because Janine is the one who's pushing this pet on Melissa.
[00:39:23] She tells Melissa, no, you have to have a guinea pig.
[00:39:26] You have to have a pet.
[00:39:27] You'll love it.
[00:39:28] And Melissa's like, I don't want it.
[00:39:29] She's like, you've got to.
[00:39:30] Cause what are the kids going to say when they look up and they don't have a pet?
[00:39:33] But Gregory got away with the rock here.
[00:39:35] Okay.
[00:39:36] Uh, Janine, keep that same energy for your man.
[00:39:38] Don't come over here with that.
[00:39:39] No, he's being cost effective.
[00:39:41] And he also just does not like, he likes rocks.
[00:39:44] That is, that is it.
[00:39:45] And God forbid for me to question, God forbid a man has hobbies, you know, like I know we're
[00:39:52] all wondering what about the men, right?
[00:39:55] The men have rocks.
[00:39:58] It's not there.
[00:39:59] There you go.
[00:40:00] What did you think about Melissa's idea to lie to the kids about the death of Sweet Cheeks
[00:40:05] and then have to come back and, uh, report that Sweet Cheeks' death has been, um, drastically
[00:40:11] over, uh, over, uh, estimated and overanalyzed.
[00:40:14] There is no death here.
[00:40:15] Sweet Cheeks is alive and well.
[00:40:17] It is just, it does not even make sense.
[00:40:19] Let Melissa keep Sweet Cheeks and just get a completely different guinea pig.
[00:40:23] We don't even have to lie to these kids.
[00:40:25] Just say, you know what?
[00:40:26] Sweet Cheeks is gone.
[00:40:29] I don't need, we don't need to elaborate why.
[00:40:31] And now we're going to get another guinea pig.
[00:40:33] All you have to say is.
[00:40:34] Or another pet.
[00:40:35] Yeah.
[00:40:36] Just say Sweet Cheeks is in a better place.
[00:40:37] Yeah.
[00:40:38] Including my house, my home.
[00:40:39] Yeah, my house is a better place.
[00:40:41] It is.
[00:40:42] Um, uh, Barbara had a good line.
[00:40:45] Oh, she said, uh, oh my Lazarus.
[00:40:47] I screamed, uh, because she gave this death talk to the kids fraudulently.
[00:40:53] You know, uh, Janine's like really putting her foot down.
[00:40:56] She was on the case.
[00:40:57] She started asking the important questions.
[00:40:59] Uh, okay.
[00:41:00] So you were cleaning while you were eating.
[00:41:03] Like, were you, were you eating?
[00:41:04] What was she eating?
[00:41:04] Wings or something like that?
[00:41:05] Like, she had a whole setup.
[00:41:07] Uh, she was watching Housewives, but she had a carpet person over.
[00:41:10] There was a lot going on for Melissa to just basically come out and say that she's got
[00:41:14] a date with a guy named Sweet Cheeks.
[00:41:16] And it is not a guy.
[00:41:17] It is definitely a guinea pig.
[00:41:18] It is just a guinea pig.
[00:41:20] Mm-hmm.
[00:41:22] Um, so eventually she has to come back and she brings back the kids to say, all right,
[00:41:27] here's Sweet Cheeks.
[00:41:28] This is Sweet Cheeks number two, though.
[00:41:29] And one of the kids says, Sweet Cheeks number one, though.
[00:41:32] Why does he look exactly like Sweet Cheeks number two?
[00:41:34] Like, what are we doing here?
[00:41:35] And the kids start asking probing questions until Melissa has to shut it down.
[00:41:38] Uh, they're doing a lot.
[00:41:40] They're asking, like, again, can I not have hobbies?
[00:41:43] Can I not have things?
[00:41:43] Do we have to interrogate everything that we're doing here?
[00:41:46] Can I not fake a guinea pig's death for my own personal benefit every once in a while?
[00:41:51] I'm sorry.
[00:41:52] Listen, they're going to have to have this talk eventually.
[00:41:54] They might as well, like, start it now.
[00:41:57] My favorite child of this episode is little Aaron who keeps asking the questions.
[00:42:01] His hand goes up like six times.
[00:42:03] And Melissa's like, hey, hey, bruh.
[00:42:04] Yeah, this kid here does not feel pain, Gia.
[00:42:08] If anybody is proof that these kids are devil, these kids are demons.
[00:42:12] Because that kid with a straight face said, oh, I don't feel pain.
[00:42:15] I said, oh, yeah, you're a problem.
[00:42:17] So for my gold star child of this episode, little Aaron takes the cake.
[00:42:22] It's got to be Aaron.
[00:42:23] I can't even think of another kid that we saw this episode, truly.
[00:42:27] Like, it's got to be Aaron.
[00:42:29] And he learned that guinea pigs do not like being tapped on their cages.
[00:42:33] So, you know, even if he doesn't feel pain, he's learning empathy for others.
[00:42:38] Yeah.
[00:42:39] And he's learning Italian.
[00:42:40] And you have to do your hands like this when you say it, right?
[00:42:43] Amiti per la pelle.
[00:42:44] I was like, that feels like a microaggression.
[00:42:47] Like, it feels like from the kids to Melissa, not the other way around.
[00:42:51] She did say you don't have to do the hands when you're saying it.
[00:42:55] They could not wait to do the hands.
[00:42:57] They were doing a little too much there for her liking.
[00:43:00] They were feeling it.
[00:43:01] But, oh, we got a cameo from our little white child.
[00:43:08] Charlie's back, y'all.
[00:43:09] I was so happy.
[00:43:11] We even saw him.
[00:43:12] He's a little artist.
[00:43:13] He's drawing a picture of himself.
[00:43:16] Oh, it's just like him.
[00:43:18] A picture void of color.
[00:43:21] She said, so Quinta lovingly offers them the beige crayons, which they have plenty of.
[00:43:29] He is living in abundance right now.
[00:43:32] But before Charlie got to the school, what could the kids have been using the beige crayon for?
[00:43:37] Oh, God.
[00:43:38] I don't even want to know.
[00:43:39] Maybe like some like world history drawings or something.
[00:43:43] I don't know.
[00:43:44] Just like donated them to Mr. C's classroom.
[00:43:47] I don't know.
[00:43:48] Yeah.
[00:43:50] Charlie has a monopoly on the beige crayons right now.
[00:43:53] He's building his own little beige crayon empire right there.
[00:43:57] And again, God forbid men have hobbies.
[00:43:59] We love that for little Charlie there.
[00:44:01] Oh, Charlie.
[00:44:02] Very interesting.
[00:44:03] I do love that they're going to have Charlie continuing to be a member of this cast.
[00:44:11] I'm still kind of reeling from the fact that it took me four seasons to realize that they generally just did not have any white kids for the first three seasons.
[00:44:20] It just blows my mind that I never was like, oh, this was intentional.
[00:44:25] So it's going to take me a while to get used to this change.
[00:44:29] It really did just come out of nowhere.
[00:44:31] I cannot get over that reveal either.
[00:44:33] I think we have people in the comment section on our YouTube page.
[00:44:38] Corey Ellis 9211 said, I'm glad I wasn't the only one who didn't realize there were no white kids before with the tears emoji.
[00:44:45] Like, welcome.
[00:44:46] Welcome to our support group here.
[00:44:48] We don't.
[00:44:48] Apparently we weren't paying attention or maybe maybe it's just, you know, even with Charlie there, he's just a part of the family.
[00:44:55] He just fits in like everybody else.
[00:44:57] So welcome, Charlie.
[00:44:58] And also, if there are any more white kids show up, we're going to notice.
[00:45:01] I'll be the first one to call it out.
[00:45:03] Mm hmm.
[00:45:04] Yeah.
[00:45:04] Oh, yeah.
[00:45:05] Listen, we're on white kid watch right now.
[00:45:07] I'm not repeating that ever again.
[00:45:10] I'm never saying.
[00:45:11] I said it out loud.
[00:45:12] I heard it.
[00:45:13] I don't like it.
[00:45:14] But if we get any more, we will be on top of it.
[00:45:18] We will know.
[00:45:19] Yeah.
[00:45:20] Anything else from this episode?
[00:45:22] Mr. Johnson does say that guinea pigs can grow to the size of the classroom.
[00:45:26] And I guess that's where grizzlies come from.
[00:45:28] He's not wrong.
[00:45:30] I'm pretty sure.
[00:45:30] It sounds like science to me.
[00:45:33] Did you see the Fat Bear Week, like three part docuseries on Peacock at one point?
[00:45:39] Like, I'm pretty sure that's how they're made.
[00:45:41] Oh, my God.
[00:45:43] Yes.
[00:45:44] That one.
[00:45:44] And what was Barbara with her fish?
[00:45:48] Like she wanted to order a vanity for Queen La Chifa.
[00:45:53] I think.
[00:45:55] Queen La Chifa.
[00:45:56] Yeah.
[00:45:56] She calls her Alexa Shirley.
[00:46:01] And she says, order me a vanity.
[00:46:04] So I love Barbara's enthusiasm for her fish.
[00:46:07] Yes.
[00:46:08] This was so much fun.
[00:46:10] And again, we got more Abbott coming your way this season.
[00:46:15] Episodes three will be dropped.
[00:46:16] Well, episode four will be dropping this week.
[00:46:18] Episode five will be dropping next week.
[00:46:19] And Gia and I will be back to cover more of the season.
[00:46:22] I do think our tier list thing.
[00:46:24] If we can figure out a way to pick our favorite children over the other, then I think that we
[00:46:28] can figure out a way to choose our favorite episodes and tier list them.
[00:46:33] Maybe during the end of the season, after we're done recording all of these, we'll come in.
[00:46:37] We'll do a tier list ranking.
[00:46:38] We'll get you all's comments in the comment section about what your favorite episodes are.
[00:46:43] If we get the tiers wrong, right?
[00:46:44] We can have a whole little interactive discussion here on Recap Kickback because I think this is
[00:46:48] the leading coverage of Abbott Elementary right now.
[00:46:50] And we love to hear that.
[00:46:52] And I'm so obsessed with this idea to rank some of the episodes.
[00:46:56] I know they usually do a like winter break in between seasons, like during the seasons,
[00:47:02] like between January to the beginning of February, they have a break.
[00:47:06] So I'm not sure if that's something that we could do, but I love the idea of it.
[00:47:11] Yes, I'm looking forward to it.
[00:47:13] Gia, anything else before we wrap this up?
[00:47:16] Where can the people find you?
[00:47:17] What do you have going on in your world?
[00:47:18] Oh God, so much stuff.
[00:47:20] But you guys don't want to hear about any of that.
[00:47:22] Well, you can follow me on Twitter, Instagram, and TikTok at Classically Gia for all of my
[00:47:28] reality TV shenanigans.
[00:47:30] On Silent Podcast, I'm doing my weekly recaps of Survivor 47.
[00:47:35] On my podcast, I Don't Know About That.
[00:47:37] And on Inside Survivor, I'm also doing weekly recaps of the written word of Survivor 47 with
[00:47:44] my good friend, Christine Callan.
[00:47:46] And of course here, Abbott Elementary.
[00:47:49] Yes, Gia, thank you so much for joining us again here on Recap Kickback.
[00:47:52] Again, we cannot do our Abbott coverage without our principal, Gia.
[00:47:55] And so good to see you again.
[00:47:58] And also, speaking of line dances, y'all, Gia and I did a line dance like not too long
[00:48:02] ago.
[00:48:02] We linked up in New York.
[00:48:03] So it was so much fun.
[00:48:06] Yeah, that's for the Recap Kickback audience only.
[00:48:08] Truly the most fun I've had at any watch party was the one time we were at a place that
[00:48:14] we were not supposed to be.
[00:48:15] And we had an amazing time.
[00:48:17] It was great.
[00:48:18] Best hour of the entire week.
[00:48:19] And no one can tell me different.
[00:48:21] No, no, it was incredible, incredible work there.
[00:48:24] Yeah.
