[00:02:40] Okay, like last week, we talked a lot about jail. You know, perfect segue here, right?

[00:02:47] We talked a lot about jail last week and this week, I think we don't have a choice, but we have to talk about one of the biggest topics in news right now.

[00:02:55] These rappers these days are just, they've been wilding. They've been wilding for a while.

[00:03:01] Yeah. And a while back, Mari, you and I watched a documentary about a specific rapper that really makes this conversation very topical.

[00:03:09] We talked, we watched the King Von documentary years, like, what is it? Almost a year ago?

[00:03:15] Yeah, yeah. Almost a year ago. King, King Von raps for serial killer? Question mark.

[00:03:21] Question mark. That's literally the name of it. It's a three-part documentary, three-hour and some change-long documentary on YouTube that we, it was so crazy.

[00:03:34] We were, we like tricked and fell over it and it was so interesting. It really broke down like the history of like gang relations in Chicago and King Von and all that.

[00:03:47] And we were fascinated by it. I don't think we, we, we kind of did a mini review of it on crime scene over on, on my other podcast crime scene, but we never really like talked about it like in depth.

[00:04:00] But, but, uh, of course, King Von, uh, ended up getting murdered. Um, when he, him and, uh, he, he went up against Quando Rondo's crew. King Von dies.

[00:04:13] And now little Dirk is facing murder for hire charges for sliding for Von.

[00:04:19] What is, can you explain that to the people who don't know what that means?

[00:04:22] Yeah. So, um, King, back in 2020, King Von was murdered. Um, it, uh, and, um, recently Quando Rondo, uh, has been targeted by a little Dirk who is King Von's cousin of all people, um, to retaliate for this death.

[00:04:42] And it was botched. They did not, uh, this was not a successful retaliation. Uh, but, uh, little Dirk's fingerprints and name is all over this. Okay. So he's going to jail. Uh, it's happening.

[00:04:56] And it, this looks awful. Like the, the day it came out, it was like, you know, sometimes this stuff kind of trickles out. Like, Hey, I heard King, I heard little Dirk was involved in such and such.

[00:05:06] It felt like within seconds, we got all this information that was just so damning, uh, following his Thursday arrest. Okay. So he's in jail in Broward County, you know, famously a very fun place to be, I'm sure.

[00:05:20] Um, and, um, arrest records say that little Dirk was arrested on murder for hire charges, but the exact nature of his involvement in alleged murder for hire charges is unclear right now.

[00:05:30] Um, but again, there had been, uh, rumblings that there was an informant in the crew as well. That was maybe flying some information. Mari, this is a lot.

[00:05:39] It's a lot. It's, I just, and this like really hit the, like the news cycle and stuff like that. It, we talked about it, like these rappers, man, like, it's kind of crazy how, you know, we grew up with like the East coast versus West coast stuff.

[00:05:56] Biggie and Tupac beef, beef. It felt like once Biggie and Tupac, like, you know, died, it, it felt like, okay, it kind of stopped all that stuff.

[00:06:06] You know what I'm saying? Like in a sense, like the, the, this murder slash murders, you know what I'm saying?

[00:06:12] But I don't, I feel like we haven't realized like what this generation's rappers have gone through.

[00:06:18] Cause there's been a way more deaths from them than, you know, it feels like, see, I don't know.

[00:06:23] Maybe I'm just like, it feels like a lot more. We, we, we keep talking about it, but it's like, why are you guys doing these things?

[00:06:31] Why are you doing a murder for hire when you're like at the top of your game?

[00:06:36] Like the YSL trial might be having a mistrial right now or something like that.

[00:06:42] Like what is happening right now? It's just a lot. I just like, I just don't, I hate this.

[00:06:49] I hate this for my people to be quite honest. Like I feel so bad for Dirk, but like also don't hire people to murder people.

[00:06:58] You know what I'm saying? Like, right.

[00:07:02] Yeah. It's tough. It's tough. This is really bad. You know, this, this, this is really bad.

[00:07:09] Um, but you're right. It feels like this is happening all the time now.

[00:07:12] I think one, one thing that we have to point out is that there's just so many more,

[00:07:16] there's so much more like rap, like public rap now than it was back then.

[00:07:20] Like back then we had the big names. And so big and Tupac was like, that was like two Titans, you know, of the rap.

[00:07:25] No disrespect to Quando Rondo, but I wouldn't consider him a Titan of rap.

[00:07:30] You know what I'm saying? Like he's, he's a rapper and he's got some songs, you know,

[00:07:34] I definitely sell NBA young boy songs that I know, you know, uh, I know a few of his, uh, hits with,

[00:07:40] but I don't know like Quando Rondo to be, you know, like at the top of his career throwing,

[00:07:44] I mean, definitely at the top of his career, but not like, he's not like the face of hip hop in any,

[00:07:49] in any stretch of the imagination, but they're never,

[00:07:50] they will never be the face if they keep shooting and killing each other.

[00:07:53] You know what I'm saying? This is your chance to rise to fame and to be something.

[00:07:58] And I don't know, it's just, it's a lot of hood shit going on.

[00:08:01] Yeah. And I think you're right. I think you're right. It's just more people are more famous for like

[00:08:06] music and, and like rappers, but kind of like what we saw in that King Von documentary is like,

[00:08:12] these people are rappers second to make money. They're originally like bangers.

[00:08:18] You know what I'm saying? Like that was their first job first. So, and, and since they're getting a

[00:08:24] little bit of spotlight, we're just seeing more of it, I guess, because like nowadays, like anybody can

[00:08:30] be a rapper, like in a good way. I'm saying that in a good way. Like if you get a, yeah, you get a song

[00:08:36] blows up on Tik TOK, you get a deal. Like it's so much easier now to break into the music industry

[00:08:42] than it was back then. And then on top of that, uh, hip hop is more widely accepted and mainstream

[00:08:49] and one of the biggest genre in American music right now. So like, it makes sense, but it's also,

[00:08:56] it's just, it's just really sad to see. It's just like, it feels like this just keeps happening.

[00:09:00] And it's like, I don't like it. Yeah. To be fair, like you pointed out, this is not their primary

[00:09:07] gig. A lot of times, you know, uh, I believe Kondo Rondo was a member of the Roland Sixers,

[00:09:12] 60s Crips, um, famously, uh, a former member of the Roland 60s, well, down past member of the

[00:09:20] Roland 60s, and Nipsey Hussle as well, uh, killed in violence. So it's not necessarily a coincidence

[00:09:26] that this is happening. You know, there's a lot of, there's probably some overlap considering that

[00:09:29] a lot of these people are gang affiliated and not in a good way, right? Not like in the community

[00:09:34] activist way. Right. And young Dolph, his murderer just got sentenced, I believe as well. Um, he did all

[00:09:41] that for $800 or something like that. Like, didn't even know Dolph. Yeah. I mean, at that point,

[00:09:47] we have to start blaming capitalism and poverty, right? You know what I'm saying? Like if somebody's

[00:09:51] willing to crash out for $800, we might need to have a larger discussion about the systemic,

[00:09:54] yeah, the systemic issues here. Right. Exactly. But still very tragic. Um, if Lil Durk is found guilty,

[00:10:03] this will be a definite hit to the hip hop community because he was a rising star in the community.

[00:10:08] Um, but again, you're doing dirt and it comes out, this is what you get. And it does feel like they

[00:10:13] might have them up against the wall. So yeah. Yeah. Maybe more to see about that coming up. But,

[00:10:19] uh, yeah, tough, tough, especially in the wake of the young thug trial, you know, like they've been in,

[00:10:23] this man has been in jail basically for two years and has not been tried. He's not been found guilty

[00:10:28] of anything yet. This trial has been going on for almost a year straight. Like it started in December

[00:10:34] of last year. And every time I check in on that, I'm like, what new fresh hell is it? Like it's all,

[00:10:41] it's something, it's like a circus in that trial to the point where I'm like, just let everybody go

[00:10:45] because I'm so confused as to what is happening right now. And that's somebody who like knows

[00:10:50] court proceedings, like who reads and does all the court proceedings and shit like that. Like I,

[00:10:56] I have no idea what's going on in the, that YSL case.

[00:11:00] No, no, nobody does because why do you have a man detained for two years? You know, detained. Like you said,

[00:11:05] the trial started almost a year ago. He was in jail before the trial started. So legally you can't do that.

[00:11:12] Oh yeah. I think the RICO charges automatically make it impossible for bail.

[00:11:19] Yeah. Which sucks because he's going to be in there until they figure it out. And we don't know if justice

[00:11:23] will ever be served because at this point it just kind of feels like they're just drawing this out, but onto bigger.

[00:11:27] And I guess I won't say bigger, but definitely more, you know, celebratory things.
