Recap Kickback is back with hosts Chappell, Mari Forth, and returning guest Jason Reed diving into the full series review of "Cross" on Amazon Prime Video. This new series, starring Aldis Hodge, brings the beloved character Alex Cross to life in a fresh storyline not directly pulled from the books. The hosts explore the show's intriguing plot, character dynamics, and the challenges of adapting such a well-known literary figure.
Alex Cross, a detective with the Chicago PD, is caught in a complex web of crime and personal turmoil. The murder of a former gang member turned activist sets off a chain of events that Alex must navigate, all while dealing with his own unresolved trauma from his wife's unsolved murder.
The panel also discusses their reaction the Tiny Desk Concert appearance for rapper Doechii!
Key Points of Interest:
- Alex Cross's struggle with personal demons and the need for therapy
- The complex murder investigation involving community tensions and police accountability
- The introduction of Ed, the wealthy serial killer, and his mysterious network
- The dynamic between Alex and his partner Samson, played by Isaiah Mustafa
- The show's decision to reveal the killer early, focusing on the "why" rather than the "who"

[00:00:17] Hey, what's up fam? Welcome back again to Recap Kickback. It's me, your host Chappelle, and I am back. I get to talk to you about all the black entertainment news or whatever black entertainment news we want to talk about. And to finish our review of Cross on Amazon Prime starting out as Hodge. And with me, of course, as usual, my co-host who's idea was to talk about Cross, but now we got to take this to the next level and finish off this project. It's Mari Forth. Mari, welcome back.
[00:00:44] Okay, okay. We heard you guys. Cross this, Cross that.
[00:00:49] Cross that.
[00:00:49] I loved it.
[00:00:50] Bring that Jason with a soothing voice. Yada, yada, yada. Whatever. We're back. So y'all better watch this. And y'all better comment. And y'all better leave your reviews. But also, we love you. Yay. Thank you for being with us.
[00:01:05] Right. As Mari said, we posted our first two episode review kind of like our teaser into what Cross was.
[00:01:13] on the YouTube page. And it got a lot of comments. A lot of people were saying, bring back Jason. Bring back Jason.
[00:01:20] So with us, of course, back again to talk about Cross and the black entertainment news of the week is Jason Reed. Welcome back, Jason.
[00:01:27] My God, happy to be back. Happy to have been requested apparently for, you know, so many times.
[00:01:32] Happy to be here to finish out what we started. Always got to finish what you start, folks.
[00:01:35] So I'm happy to be here to talk about the rest of Cross, which was a, which was an interesting experience. We'll get into the whole, the whole bit of it.
[00:01:43] Yes. And before we do, of course, we want to thank you all for listening to Recap Kickback and for being with us here on YouTube.
[00:01:49] If you're watching on YouTube, youtube.com slash at Recap Kickback.

[00:02:05] Cause I've seen a lot of Cross reviews out there, but I need them to find hours so they can become a part of the Recap Kickback family.
[00:02:12] Cause it's a good time here. And we are gearing up for, you know, the end of 2024.
[00:02:18] And so we want to end on a high note with a lot of reviews, a lot of comments and a lot of interaction with Recap Kickback fans.
[00:02:25] That said, we did not get a lot of black entertainment news of the week cause we did want to focus on getting Cross done.
[00:02:31] And so if you have any black entertainment news, you can of course send it to us in our email, recapkickbackatgmail.com.
[00:02:39] Or you can put it in the comments if you want to and tell us what you want us to talk about next time when we're not reviewing another movie or television show,
[00:02:45] because we will be bringing you more Recap Kickback content well into the new year.
[00:02:50] That said, we do have something that we want to talk about.
[00:02:53] And I know Mari's very excited about this, but for all our YouTube audience, you might've seen this.
[00:02:57] Dochi had a tiny desk and it was fire. Mari, what'd you think?
[00:03:02] It was so good. Yeah. The one thing I said, okay, I just want to talk about how good Dochi's tiny desk was because I was like,
[00:03:10] am I about to get cornrows with beads in them? Am I about to get cornrows with beads in them?
[00:03:14] And I had to top myself down and be like, no, because your head is too round and it looks kind of weird.
[00:03:18] You don't like to get cornrows with the beads in them.
[00:03:21] So I was like, okay, you're right. Inner self. Don't get cornrows with the beads in them.
[00:03:24] But Dochi is such an amazing artist.
[00:03:28] Like I'm pretty sure when we talked about the BET Awards this year, I talked about how last, like last year's,
[00:03:37] like I'm pretty sure the 2023 BET Awards, she killed that performance.
[00:03:43] And I didn't realize like until her album came out, Alligator Bites Never Heal,
[00:03:50] like how such a different artist she is.
[00:03:55] You know what I'm saying?
[00:03:56] I like, I went down a whole Dochi rabbit hole because that's as one does once you watch the tiny desk and all of that.
[00:04:04] And I stumbled on her, her doing her genius, her denial, denial is a river genius.
[00:04:11] And she really just talked about like literally her career for over like the last three or four years through that song and stuff like that.
[00:04:19] And I was just like, this woman is amazing.
[00:04:23] She's putting on for us dark skinned black woman.
[00:04:26] I love that for her.
[00:04:27] And she just, she just like her flow, her style, that like slick Rick storytelling rap style.
[00:04:36] I love that.
[00:04:37] And I feel like we, we very rarely get that in like female MCs and stuff like that.
[00:04:42] So I love Dochi.
[00:04:44] Like I'm like converted.
[00:04:47] I'm like, I downloaded everything.
[00:04:49] I need to know more.
[00:04:52] She just completely blew me away because what it is from like two years ago,
[00:04:57] like that song has been a rotation for me for a long time.
[00:05:01] But Kodak Black.
[00:05:03] I know we talked about that.
[00:05:05] I do not acknowledge, I do not acknowledge that there is a feature on that song.
[00:05:08] I'm just saying.
[00:05:09] I do not acknowledge that there is not a feature on that song.
[00:05:12] It is literally just the song.
[00:05:15] There is no feature.
[00:05:17] I didn't, I didn't hear nothing.
[00:05:19] Mara takes earbuds out when the Kodak Black.
[00:05:21] Like that meme?
[00:05:23] She got, she got timed out.
[00:05:25] She's like.
[00:05:27] Exactly.
[00:05:27] Yes.
[00:05:28] Very that.
[00:05:30] And, and I'm not going to lie.
[00:05:31] When I heard that song and I think Persuasion.
[00:05:35] She talks about in her genius about how like, those are the songs that made her blow up,
[00:05:41] but they were the songs that, that were kind of killing her creativity.
[00:05:44] So I kind of, I didn't write her off, but I just thought she was like another in a long
[00:05:49] list of like what we are getting for female rap, which everybody knows who listens to this.
[00:05:54] I love female rap and what, what, what it's doing nowadays.
[00:05:57] But I, I did put her in that same vein, but now I'm just completely seeing her in a new light.
[00:06:03] So it's, she's amazing.
[00:06:05] If you haven't checked out her tiny desk and her Stephen Colbert performance.
[00:06:11] Did you see that Chappelle?
[00:06:12] Her performance on Stephen Colbert?
[00:06:13] Well, I kept seeing the clips on Blue Sky.
[00:06:15] It was like the Dochi and the, the Dochi clones as well.
[00:06:20] I was like, oh, this is good.
[00:06:22] And they, they talk around the same time.
[00:06:23] Right.
[00:06:24] Mari, like probably in the same week.
[00:06:25] Yeah, I think it was in the same week, the tiny desk and the performance, but like basically
[00:06:30] Dochi and two other girls who are like, look exactly like her are like their cornrows are
[00:06:36] connected to each other.
[00:06:37] I was, I've, I've watched that video so many times.
[00:06:40] Like, oh my God, can you imagine trying to do that choreography without like your hair,
[00:06:45] your head tuck, tuck another person?
[00:06:48] That could be a disaster.
[00:06:49] Disaster.
[00:06:50] Exactly.
[00:06:51] So she, I mean, she's killing it right now.
[00:06:54] So, uh, shout out to Dochi.
[00:06:56] If you haven't been checking out all the stuff that she's doing, go check it out.
[00:06:59] Her album, um, again, Alligator Bites Never Heal.
[00:07:02] She, I think she's nominated.
[00:07:05] Three Grammys.
[00:07:06] Three.
[00:07:06] Yeah.
[00:07:07] I couldn't remember if it was three or four.
[00:07:08] Yeah.
[00:07:08] So three Grammys.
[00:07:09] So check it out.
[00:07:10] She, she's amazing.
[00:07:12] Yeah.
[00:07:12] Best new artist, best rap performance and best rap album for, uh, Dochi.
[00:07:16] Obviously, uh, I, I like Dochi.
[00:07:18] Mari's your fan.
[00:07:19] You even named your daughter after Dochi.
[00:07:21] Her name's Jayla.
[00:07:22] Uh, I don't understand.
[00:07:24] Her name is Jayla.
[00:07:26] Yeah.
[00:07:27] But, uh, was that how to do with Dochi?
[00:07:28] That's Dochi's name?
[00:07:30] Is that her real name?
[00:07:31] Did you go down the rabbit hole or not?
[00:07:32] Did you go down the rabbit hole or not?
[00:07:34] You a fake fan?
[00:07:35] That was, that was a bunny hole.
[00:07:36] That's a bunny hole.
[00:07:37] That's a rabbit hole.
[00:07:38] That's a bull.
[00:07:38] That's a bull.
[00:07:39] That's a bull.
[00:07:39] I don't, I, I, I, the character, the rapper, that's the person.
[00:07:44] She didn't Wikipedia, Chappelle.
[00:07:46] She just watched the YouTube videos.
[00:07:48] That's where you start.
[00:07:49] You start on the Wikipedia.
[00:07:50] I did not claim to be an expert.
[00:07:52] I am not the type that says I watched a few YouTube videos and now I'm an expert on the subject.
[00:07:58] But Dochi, known as the Swamp Princess, uh, was on NPR.
[00:08:01] Yes, from Tampa.
[00:08:02] Yeah, NPR Music's Tiny Desk concert.
[00:08:06] And so, uh, she had a full band, uh, two background singers.
[00:08:09] My favorite part of the Tiny Desk was, uh, the, the last song where they do, uh, everybody gets a solo.
[00:08:16] And, uh, the drummer gets a drum solo.
[00:08:18] Everybody, I was like, oh, I loved it so much.
[00:08:20] It was so good.
[00:08:21] Um, she ate.
[00:08:22] And you could tell that she's a hip-hop fan because she had so many elements of other hip-hop artists from the past.
[00:08:28] Like, there was where she was giving me Missy Elliott vibes.
[00:08:31] There were moments where she was giving me, like, like you said, kind of like the Slick Rick vibes or whatever.
[00:08:36] Like, she, it was just, there was some Tupac in there.
[00:08:38] I said, oh, she's done her homework, you know?
[00:08:40] And I love that.
[00:08:41] I love anybody who you can tell they've studied their craft and they've gotten really good at what they do based on the fact that they're talented, but they're also putting a lot of, uh, effort into creating a good project.
[00:08:51] And so, yeah, um, I think one of her quotes, uh, she was talking about the, uh, this song Black Girl Memoir from her album, Know the Places You'll Go.
[00:09:01] And she said that she wrote the song specifically for Black women as a dark-skinned woman.
[00:09:05] It's a very, uh, unique experience that she's trying to internalize.
[00:09:08] And this is dedicated to all the beautiful Black women in the room.
[00:09:11] And so, um, yeah, she's been on the rise since 2024, but, uh, it looks like she's going to be a household name going into 2025.
[00:09:18] So, shout out to Dochi. Shout out to Tiny Desk as well for, uh, highlighting a lot of Black artists.
[00:09:24] I remember when they pulled out the Juvenile last year and I was like, oh, yeah, okay.
[00:09:28] All right. Tiny Desk was speaking to me.
[00:09:29] So, uh, yeah, I'll be tuning in, of course, to Dochi in the future and hopefully she gets some of these Grammys that she's nominated for.
[00:09:36] Um, but yeah, that's our, our big entertainment spotlight.
[00:09:40] And, uh, now we can talk about Cross.
[00:09:42] Um, uh, Jason, I'll start with you.
[00:09:46] I know that when we, when we talked about the first couple episodes, you were, you liked it, but you definitely had some like points where you were like, there's some things that I like, didn't really like.
[00:09:55] There was so, uh, you had some like problem areas, some growth areas for the show through two episodes.
[00:10:00] But we're out, we've seen it all now.
[00:10:02] How do you think Cross was as an entire season?
[00:10:05] I think as an entire season, I was impressed by the, by the product overall.
[00:10:09] There were some things with the story at the end that felt rushed, felt a little, uh, you know, too easily closed.
[00:10:15] And the, I will say the twist at the end of like who the true villain was in the family portion of Cross's cases, um, was really good.
[00:10:27] If not really utterly unbelievable.
[00:10:30] Like, I was just like, I get it.
[00:10:32] Like, I see what you did.
[00:10:33] It's an impressive twist, but I was like, but it still, it fell a little flat for me.
[00:10:37] And the, the big reveal was like, okay, as soon as we heard, like, uh, he had a mama on the streets.
[00:10:44] I'm like, who have we met that could fit that description?
[00:10:47] Like, got you.
[00:10:49] And the way they kind of executed it, I was just like, ah, I don't know.
[00:10:52] I didn't feel good about it.
[00:10:54] Mari, what did, what did you think of that, of that, that twist?
[00:10:56] No, I completely agree.
[00:10:58] As somebody who on the last podcast was like this writing, I'm excited, everything.
[00:11:02] Da, da, da, da, da.
[00:11:03] This did feel like that horse drawing.
[00:11:05] Like, the, the, you know, the Game of Thrones meme, the horse drawing, like, it was very detailed in the beginning, but it fell off in the end.
[00:11:13] It, it truly did to me.
[00:11:16] I was like, I didn't really care what they did with, um, the, uh, fanboy, how they wrapped the fanboy killer up.
[00:11:24] The, the, the twist with the, yeah, the family portion.
[00:11:30] Like, I, I think I, when did I clock it?
[00:11:33] I, I saw it coming at least a whole episode before.
[00:11:36] I was like, oh, like once they introduced like the white, the white girls portion of it, I was like, it was just so many elements that I was just like, this is just, this is a lot.
[00:11:48] And then what.
[00:11:48] It kind of came out of nowhere as well.
[00:11:50] The, the, the guy, the, the, the, uh, the man that was tormenting Cross really kind of came out of nowhere.
[00:11:57] He wasn't really introduced us ahead of time.
[00:11:59] Yes.
[00:12:00] So it was just like, who is this guy?
[00:12:02] Why do I care?
[00:12:03] Why do I care that he doesn't like Cross?
[00:12:05] It didn't come across as authentic to me.
[00:12:08] He got like pushed to the side.
[00:12:10] Yeah.
[00:12:10] And pair that with the kind of out of nowhere reveal of this, um, of, of, I don't even remember her name.
[00:12:16] Yeah.
[00:12:17] I don't.
[00:12:17] Nancy.
[00:12:18] Oh, Nancy.
[00:12:20] Yeah.
[00:12:20] Come with the, with the, the heel turn of Nancy was just like, okay.
[00:12:23] Like it feels by the end of it.
[00:12:25] I was just like, okay.
[00:12:26] And I didn't really care about it, which I think is a, is the problem with having these, these dual storylines in this eight episode season of TV.
[00:12:35] Neither plot line got as much time as I felt it deserved.
[00:12:39] Yeah.
[00:12:39] Really?
[00:12:40] Okay.
[00:12:40] Yeah.
[00:12:41] But the funny thing is like, it's all about the timing.
[00:12:45] Cause I agree with Jason.
[00:12:46] Because in the books, it really be like this.
[00:12:48] Yes.
[00:12:49] It truly be like this.
[00:12:51] It's like Alex has to deal with a work soccer killer.
[00:12:55] And then Alex got to go and deal with somebody stalking his family.
[00:12:58] Like I, after we watched the first, after we watched the first few episodes, I finished the season way back when, and then I went back to try and get back on the books, Jason.
[00:13:09] And I actually finished reading Alex cross run.
[00:13:14] And I was like, well, let me start here.
[00:13:15] I kind of remember this one, but let me start here.
[00:13:17] I listened to that one.
[00:13:19] And then I realized I was like, I've listened in or read to the four other books after it.
[00:13:27] So I was really trying to remember.
[00:13:29] Yeah.
[00:13:30] Like I was really like, freak, where did I, where did I end this?
[00:13:34] So I might actually have to ask you for a synopsis of hope to die.
[00:13:38] Once we get off podcast, because I'm trying to, nobody will give me a full book spoiler.
[00:13:43] You know what I'm saying?
[00:13:43] Like for full books.
[00:13:45] I'm like, I'm pretty sure I read these books, but I need the spoilers to remember that I read these books.
[00:13:50] I'll have to look to see which one that is because all of them have the cross name and which plot goes to which book.
[00:13:57] So I'll do a quick refresher and then give you all the spoilers.
[00:14:01] But so since you, you've definitely like, since you have just finished Alex cross.
[00:14:05] Literally just.
[00:14:06] Yeah.
[00:14:06] What did you think overall of the depiction of Alex cross?
[00:14:11] Was he, was it true to the books?
[00:14:13] Cause I have a certain feeling about that.
[00:14:15] So that was the thing.
[00:14:16] So, so that was the thing.
[00:14:17] So I read, I read it, uh, Alex cross ride.
[00:14:20] And, but after I read that, I was like, Oh, okay.
[00:14:25] Because it's been so long, but it was literally, it was literally one where a guy was stalking his family was, um, it happens like, that's happened like five times.
[00:14:36] So the Alex cross run of books.
[00:14:38] I know Jason.
[00:14:39] I promise I'm about to place it in time for you.
[00:14:42] And where they think that their, um, adopted child dies.
[00:14:46] You know, they think she, when they first think she dies and it was where the guy, it was the one where the guy like, uh, antagonizes him to the point where he punches him.
[00:14:57] Yeah.
[00:14:58] So I was like, Oh, this was kind of fortuitous that I, I chose this book to read because in this book, Alex cross really does lose his shit.
[00:15:07] And the whole time I'm listening to the book, I'm like, dog, just leave this guy alone.
[00:15:11] But he doesn't.
[00:15:12] And the guy like really goads him into like punching him and then goads him into like, and it's recorded and it's the police brutality thing.
[00:15:20] And he has to give up his gun, the whole, the whole shebang.
[00:15:23] So everything that we saw in this season of cross.
[00:15:26] So once I, once I watched the whole season, listened to the book, went back to watch the last few episodes to refresh my memory.
[00:15:34] I was like, okay, I guess this is kind of, um, actually closer to the books than I had remembered.
[00:15:40] Um, yeah.
[00:15:41] He did lose his cool, uh, uh, at least in, in that book and in a few times.
[00:15:46] So.
[00:15:47] Yeah, I get that.
[00:15:48] I get that, but, but it, it doesn't happen very often, right?
[00:15:51] It doesn't.
[00:15:52] It felt over the top here.
[00:15:53] Yeah.
[00:15:53] In the show, it really, it felt like it happened a lot.
[00:15:56] Like Alex lost his cool a lot.
[00:15:58] He would, he would go off the deep end, especially in the, uh, in the, in the episode where he's at the birthday party with Ed Ramsey.
[00:16:05] And like, you know, he, he pretty much tells, he pretty much tells Ramsey that he has him pegged as the killer.
[00:16:10] And then Ramsey without too much provocation gets Alex completely loose as shit.
[00:16:16] So I was just like, that doesn't really ring too true for me for Alex.
[00:16:19] And it happened a few times in the, in the span of the, of the episodes.
[00:16:23] I think I mentioned in the first couple episodes we covered where he almost, he almost fought one of Elle's dinner guests over just the, like, the whole like black, black cop thing.
[00:16:33] So I was like, he, he kind of lost his cool a little too much for me in the series, in the, in the TV, in this one season TV.
[00:16:41] Yeah.
[00:16:41] Uh, I liked it.
[00:16:43] I thought it got better as it went on.
[00:16:45] Honestly, I thought the first two episodes, I thought I was tripping cause y'all liked them so much.
[00:16:48] And I was in here like, Oh, okay.
[00:16:50] You know, but I think I, I kind of hit my stride.
[00:16:53] I'm, uh, toward the middle.
[00:16:54] I think the, the episode you're talking about where they're at, uh, Ed's birthday, um, that's my favorite episode of the season.
[00:17:00] Yeah.
[00:17:00] That was a standout.
[00:17:01] That was a standout episode for sure.
[00:17:02] I mean, it was so good.
[00:17:04] It was a whole lot happening.
[00:17:07] I definitely want to get into that, but I agree.
[00:17:09] I think, I think I didn't really see the, the twist with, uh, I keep calling her Ronnie from Schitt's Creek.
[00:17:14] Uh, Miss Nancy, uh, who, uh, played by, uh, uh, uh, Karen.
[00:17:19] Uh, yeah.
[00:17:20] Like I, I saw that, like, obviously we were going somewhere where that lady was going to be important because why is she here?
[00:17:26] But she all of a sudden was just, was just with the family all the time.
[00:17:31] I was just like, Oh, okay.
[00:17:32] And then she goes, you know, I have a very secluded cabin up in the, what I was like, Oh, okay.
[00:17:37] There's no suit out there, but that's what we go in.
[00:17:39] You know?
[00:17:39] Yeah.
[00:17:40] So that was kind of where I started seeing that, but there were bigger twists that I thought were very good and well done.
[00:17:44] Uh, but in like, it's like, if you're not paying attention, you don't see it coming.
[00:17:48] And then it happens.
[00:17:48] You're like, Ooh, I should have saw that coming.
[00:17:50] Uh, like there's this moment where, uh, there is a witness to his, uh, witness protection.
[00:17:55] And he's stuck with this detective who was pregnant.
[00:17:57] And I'm like, huh?
[00:17:59] If they got the witness, this is about to end two episodes too early.
[00:18:02] It'd be crazy if that detective and then boom, she shot him.
[00:18:05] I said, ah.
[00:18:05] Yeah.
[00:18:06] I didn't see that coming.
[00:18:07] I will give them that.
[00:18:08] So when we were in the hotel room, I was like, what's going to happen here?
[00:18:12] First of all, why is the, like the chief of police watching this witness?
[00:18:16] I was like, that's not cool.
[00:18:18] And then I got worried for the chief of police who was pregnant.
[00:18:21] She needs to get out of there.
[00:18:23] Yeah.
[00:18:23] Cause something bad is about to happen.
[00:18:24] Like we've all seen this movie before.
[00:18:26] Like this witness is not going to make it to the stand.
[00:18:28] So something's going to happen.
[00:18:30] So I was worried for her for a second.
[00:18:31] And then she pulls out the gun and shoots him in the head.
[00:18:33] I was like, Oh, okay.
[00:18:35] That was the craziest thing.
[00:18:37] Cause he was like focused like on her stomach or something like that.
[00:18:40] And she like, out of nowhere, like off frame.
[00:18:43] Yeah.
[00:18:43] I almost thought he was, I thought he was going to kill her.
[00:18:46] I thought someone else was going to come and kill both of them.
[00:18:48] I was just like,
[00:18:49] I didn't think they would actually kill a pregnant woman on TV.
[00:18:51] That that's a little like too far.
[00:18:53] But I was like, I was like, what's about to happen here?
[00:18:55] And then she kills him.
[00:18:56] I'm like, Oh shit.
[00:18:57] Like that's that, that you're right.
[00:18:59] She felt that was a really good twist.
[00:19:00] Yeah.
[00:19:02] It got me.
[00:19:03] It got me.
[00:19:03] And then her explain like IVF is just so expensive.
[00:19:07] And I was like, Oh, that part, I, I, that part was really good.
[00:19:11] But I was also like, why is everybody doing everything this man tells?
[00:19:15] Yeah.
[00:19:16] See, that's, that's, that's one of the things I have issue with.
[00:19:19] Right.
[00:19:19] Because, and it's one of the things where I say we didn't have, we didn't,
[00:19:22] we weren't able to invest enough time in Ed Ramsey and who he is and why he
[00:19:27] has a seemingly cult following of people that are willing to do his bidding.
[00:19:30] Cause we see like, we see the one guy that's like his assistant that's doing
[00:19:34] stuff for him all the time.
[00:19:35] We see the, uh, the plastic surgeon lady that's working for him.
[00:19:39] But, but why are they following this man?
[00:19:40] Cause they seem to be following him like a cult leader, like, like, you know,
[00:19:44] as part of this, like this organization of people that like to do these crazy
[00:19:47] things, but we don't get enough reasoning of why they are following him and
[00:19:51] why he is the lead.
[00:19:54] Yeah.
[00:19:55] Well, I definitely had questions about that for sure.
[00:19:57] Uh, like even when, okay.
[00:19:59] So we start off and as we talked about episodes one and two, uh,
[00:20:01] Ed Ramsey is stalking Shannon and she is his next victim who will be, um, you
[00:20:06] know, he's going to be trying to make her look like the serial killer.
[00:20:09] Oh, I will be asking more about shortly.
[00:20:11] So why I get your notes ready.
[00:20:12] Uh, but, um, but like he's trying to get her to look like her and the way they
[00:20:17] capture her, we talked about it.
[00:20:18] She's at a coffee stand and the coffee guy is like, Ed Ramsey, we got her.
[00:20:24] You know, it was like, why is he on it?
[00:20:25] And so that's who tips them off to that.
[00:20:29] We got a girl who looks like her.
[00:20:30] And then at some point they go to that exhibit, that Dexter exhibit, and she's
[00:20:34] supposed to check her phone in.
[00:20:36] Hey, let me take your phone.
[00:20:37] There's no phones allowed in here.
[00:20:38] The phone taker guy, he's like, and rerouting her calls.
[00:20:42] It's like, why are you in on it?
[00:20:44] And so for me, it's like, it's like, he has two different things going on.
[00:20:48] On the one hand, he has this cult following because he is a serial killer and he's
[00:20:51] putting like this manifesto out.
[00:20:53] He's got on the internet, he's got these other people who are crazy for following
[00:20:56] him.
[00:20:56] And then on the other hand, he's blackmailing a lot of people because he got a lot of
[00:20:59] money.
[00:20:59] He's got a lot of money and he's got a lot of resources.
[00:21:02] The man is filthy rich.
[00:21:03] And so it's like, for people like Bobby, who was working for him, Bobby was there for
[00:21:08] the money.
[00:21:09] For that one older lady, she was there because he had dirt on her.
[00:21:14] You know, her husband was a pedophile.
[00:21:16] So it's kind of like, his bases were covered in two different ways.
[00:21:21] And it's like, depending on who you were talking to, they got a different reason for why they
[00:21:24] were following him.
[00:21:25] So like the plastic surgeon lady, she's in on the serial killer thing.
[00:21:29] She's like, nah, I'm all it.
[00:21:30] I'm about this life.
[00:21:31] Let's do it.
[00:21:31] But then detective pregnant lady, she's like, nah, I needed my baby.
[00:21:35] And he helped me pay for it.
[00:21:37] Like, so every, he's got hands in everybody's pockets and everybody's lives and nobody can
[00:21:42] get around it.
[00:21:43] And so that was like part of the thing that I had to wrestle with the most.
[00:21:46] It's like, why does he have so much assistance?
[00:21:50] You know, anytime you try to get involved, there's somebody else who's working in his pocket.
[00:21:55] So was she a senator lady?
[00:21:58] Even saw him like punch Shannon in the face.
[00:22:00] Oh my God.
[00:22:01] That was, yeah.
[00:22:01] It's the same lady.
[00:22:02] The lady whose husband is a pedophile.
[00:22:04] Oh yeah, yeah, yeah.
[00:22:05] You're right.
[00:22:06] I'm sorry.
[00:22:06] Yeah.
[00:22:07] Yeah.
[00:22:07] There was a couple of really standout scenes for me.
[00:22:10] And that one where Shannon escapes and the, and that lady witnesses and punch Shannon
[00:22:15] in the face.
[00:22:16] I was just like, just like, what the hell?
[00:22:18] Like that was one of the standout scenes for me.
[00:22:19] Like calmly tells her like, you saw nothing.
[00:22:21] Like, you know, remember I still got dirt on you.
[00:22:23] So you, you saw nothing at all.
[00:22:25] That was one of the really standout moments for me of, of the, of the series.
[00:22:29] I actually loved Shannon and her fight during the, during the season and how she was able
[00:22:37] to do a bunch of things like to try and resist him.
[00:22:39] Like it wasn't just a normal, like, Oh, Hey, I got you now.
[00:22:41] So you're going to do what I say.
[00:22:42] Like she tried to resist like so much.
[00:22:44] And like the way she got away that one time was, was so great.
[00:22:48] And the, and her recapture was so interesting during that whole like party, uh, party episode.
[00:22:53] Yeah.
[00:22:54] I agree.
[00:22:55] Just however, that means we watched a whole season of a quote unquote serial killer.
[00:22:59] And we only saw him kill one person.
[00:23:02] Well, he killed a couple of people, but he only did one for his like manifesto.
[00:23:05] You know, only one person made the book, but a few other people died in the making of this film.
[00:23:10] You know, technically, I guess before we come in, 10 other people died.
[00:23:15] Um, 11.
[00:23:18] Yeah.
[00:23:19] Yeah.
[00:23:19] And then she was supposed to be 12, but I'm just saying it was just like, Matt, I mean,
[00:23:23] it almost felt like, like I loved watching Shannon's fight.
[00:23:26] Don't get me wrong.
[00:23:27] Yeah.
[00:23:27] But it just felt like an elongated way to prevent her from dying.
[00:23:32] You know what I'm saying?
[00:23:32] Like it was buying time the whole time, the whole time.
[00:23:36] Exactly.
[00:23:36] And it was just kind of like, but I think that's, I think that's interesting though to have this person
[00:23:41] that has this like reputation, right.
[00:23:43] Of a serial killer that we didn't even realize was a serial killer until Alex steps in and
[00:23:49] says, Hey, like, I think this is like a serial situation.
[00:23:51] And then for us to be on this dog in pursuit of him before he can finish his last kill.
[00:23:57] Cause that was going to be his, his, his, his finale.
[00:24:00] And I love that we were able to like spoil his finale or whatever.
[00:24:03] Yes.
[00:24:03] Yeah.
[00:24:04] But you had to die, but you know,
[00:24:06] we weren't invested in like, I almost wish maybe we got a montage of the other victims
[00:24:12] or something like that, because.
[00:24:14] To really give us how, how big of a threat he is.
[00:24:16] How big of a, like a bad guy.
[00:24:17] Exactly.
[00:24:18] Thank you.
[00:24:19] To give it how big of a bad guy he is.
[00:24:21] To like really up the whole finality of it because like, this is the last victim.
[00:24:26] This is it.
[00:24:26] This is, you know what I'm saying?
[00:24:27] To give that grandiose of like, he's this close to completing his project type thing.
[00:24:32] Like, I just couldn't connect to that because.
[00:24:35] You know, we weren't along for the ride.
[00:24:38] It, it happened.
[00:24:39] It happened off screen.
[00:24:40] You know what I'm saying?
[00:24:41] I will say, I thought he was pretty menacing and I thought he was pretty creepy as well.
[00:24:46] Like there's that scene, I think in the lead up to the party where like he puts on the
[00:24:50] mask and has a woman performing fellatio on him.
[00:24:53] Like, wow.
[00:24:54] Like you are.
[00:24:55] It was weird.
[00:24:56] Real creeper.
[00:24:57] Yeah.
[00:24:57] I wish we saw all of the bodies in the book.
[00:25:00] It, maybe that would have helped, but we only, we only saw like the last three.
[00:25:04] It was like, they couldn't come up with 11 serial killers.
[00:25:08] They actually made up the black one for the black guy.
[00:25:10] So I was just like.
[00:25:11] I don't even know that.
[00:25:12] Yeah.
[00:25:13] Which is crazy.
[00:25:14] Cause I looked.
[00:25:15] There's.
[00:25:15] Yeah.
[00:25:16] I was.
[00:25:16] Well, yeah, I definitely, that's why I said I got to ask Mari about some of this serial killer
[00:25:19] stuff in a minute for sure.
[00:25:21] But I completely disagree.
[00:25:22] I'm actually surprised Mari that that was your takeaway as far as like the grit, the scale
[00:25:26] of, of it.
[00:25:26] Because I felt like, and I think it might just be because you're desensitized and you watch
[00:25:30] a lot of true crime, but for me seeing the book and hearing they're like, Oh, he had blood
[00:25:35] from this person in the book.
[00:25:36] He had made, you know, like to me, just the sheer amount of work he was putting into the
[00:25:41] appearance of these people when it came to Shannon and he's like, nah, I got to dye
[00:25:45] her hair.
[00:25:46] I got to change the way her face looks.
[00:25:47] I got to change her teeth.
[00:25:48] You know, I was like, Oh, this man is a madman.
[00:25:51] That was enough for me.
[00:25:52] I didn't need to see all the bodies.
[00:25:53] I was just like, Oh, the fact that he's going through all of that just for this one kill.
[00:25:58] And she realized it.
[00:26:00] I want to give a shout out to her because the first two episodes, she was moving like
[00:26:03] a dummy.
[00:26:03] That man catfished you.
[00:26:05] That man catfished you.
[00:26:06] You had no business going on a date with him.
[00:26:08] Love yourself.
[00:26:09] You know, you didn't need, you didn't need a company that, that much.
[00:26:12] Okay.
[00:26:12] That man said, come to my house for some bacon.
[00:26:14] You could have said, no, then you didn't have to go there, but you did.
[00:26:17] You messed up.
[00:26:18] But from that moment on, she was locked in.
[00:26:20] She tried at all.
[00:26:21] She tried to flirt her way out of it.
[00:26:23] She tried to pretend she was down.
[00:26:24] Oh, murder.
[00:26:24] I love murder.
[00:26:25] This is crazy.
[00:26:26] We should talk about this over dinner.
[00:26:28] She tried everything in her power.
[00:26:30] She tried to fight that man.
[00:26:33] Other people was getting killed.
[00:26:34] She fought herself.
[00:26:35] Yeah.
[00:26:36] When she sliced her own face, I thought she was about to offer us.
[00:26:40] I thought she was about to kill herself.
[00:26:41] I didn't realize what she was doing.
[00:26:42] She sliced her face and he's like, damn, you messed up my project.
[00:26:45] And I was like, wow, Shannon, that was good.
[00:26:48] That was good.
[00:26:50] And then he stole her right in the face.
[00:26:51] I was like, oh my God.
[00:26:53] Yeah.
[00:26:53] It's so brutal.
[00:26:55] And when you think like, okay, the detectives in them, they're like one step behind because
[00:27:00] we see everything and we know, we already know who the killer is.
[00:27:02] We know what Shannon's going through.
[00:27:03] So they're about a step and a half behind.
[00:27:05] So they're like, well, if she hurt her face, then obviously he can't do his job because,
[00:27:09] you know, there's no plastic surgeon in the world that could work that quickly.
[00:27:12] Then they cut to her and it's like, plastic surgeon shows up.
[00:27:15] Hey, I'm the one plastic surgeon who would do this.
[00:27:17] I also don't care that you're about to get murdered.
[00:27:19] Let's work.
[00:27:22] Which was like, okay, lady, like he has to fulfill his masterpiece.
[00:27:29] Why do you?
[00:27:30] Okay, whatever.
[00:27:31] Like, why are you interested in this?
[00:27:33] Why do you want to see this man?
[00:27:34] Because like the final scene.
[00:27:36] Yeah.
[00:27:36] The scene where he's about to kill her and like the plastic surgeon lady comes like
[00:27:41] to watch the other weird perverted guy is just watching as well as like, why?
[00:27:46] Why are you following him?
[00:27:47] Why are you interested in this?
[00:27:48] I feel like we didn't get enough info on that.
[00:27:51] I just I love I what did you what did you I loved at the very end where Alex is like,
[00:27:56] nope, I'm not gonna give you credit for the other 10.
[00:27:58] Like you did this one and that's it.
[00:28:00] And, you know, Ed Ramsey freaks the freak out because he's not going to get his his whole
[00:28:05] credit.
[00:28:05] I love the little turnaround that Alex is on him in that way.
[00:28:08] Okay, but also I was like, wow, this is all very illegal.
[00:28:13] Yes, very.
[00:28:13] Yeah.
[00:28:14] I mean, we've been saying since episode one, everybody who was talking about the police
[00:28:19] be corrupt.
[00:28:20] They kind of right.
[00:28:21] They're kind of right.
[00:28:22] Like they said, oh, we found this book on that that that black guy, which is Bobby.
[00:28:29] Yeah, Bobby.
[00:28:31] At that point, everybody should be like, oh, black guy.
[00:28:35] Right.
[00:28:36] Black people are serial killers.
[00:28:38] Like we don't do that.
[00:28:39] Like, like Marty said, they had to invent a black serial killer for this.
[00:28:42] Like they had the DC sniper in there.
[00:28:45] He was black.
[00:28:45] Yeah, that's true.
[00:28:46] Did they have the DC?
[00:28:48] Yeah.
[00:28:48] They name dropped them.
[00:28:49] They said.
[00:28:50] Well, in the show, but not in the book.
[00:28:53] No, it was in the book.
[00:28:53] It was in the book.
[00:28:54] Yeah.
[00:28:54] Oh, OK.
[00:28:55] Yeah.
[00:28:55] Yeah.
[00:28:56] It was in the book.
[00:28:57] That's what I'm saying.
[00:28:57] You know, they had somebody.
[00:28:59] They look Bobby had pissed me off by that point that I didn't care.
[00:29:02] I was like.
[00:29:03] And that's what it was.
[00:29:04] They were like, they're like, Bobby killed all these 10 people.
[00:29:07] And then you killed this one guy.
[00:29:10] But also your book, this book, all of this evidence.
[00:29:13] Love that.
[00:29:14] We're throwing it in the fire.
[00:29:15] I was like, no.
[00:29:16] I mean, it had to be like a reproduction or something.
[00:29:18] Like, I don't think they went that far.
[00:29:20] Yeah.
[00:29:20] Like, that's what I'm thinking.
[00:29:22] That's insane to think about it.
[00:29:23] Because like in 10 years, he's like, I'm fighting my case.
[00:29:26] Like, OK, well, where's the state's evidence?
[00:29:30] We might have burnt it.
[00:29:31] We might have burnt it.
[00:29:32] Could have been.
[00:29:34] Also, with the Bobby thing, I felt like I really dropped the ball with Bobby.
[00:29:37] Because when we came out of the two episodes we talked about, I was like, OK, we see more
[00:29:41] of Bobby.
[00:29:41] And then Bobby was like barely in the rest of the episodes.
[00:29:44] I was like.
[00:29:44] He was just trying to get some more money.
[00:29:45] Bobby was like.
[00:29:46] Yeah, money.
[00:29:47] And yeah.
[00:29:48] I mean, that's what he was in it for.
[00:29:49] He was in it for the cash.
[00:29:51] You're right, though.
[00:29:52] I got a good Hayden to Bobby.
[00:29:53] And then eventually it was like, OK, well, Bobby can go.
[00:29:56] And that's and that's kind of the funny thing to me, because Bobby was the one that
[00:30:00] was like, oh, this is crazy.
[00:30:02] Because I will never forget that hotel scene.
[00:30:05] Crazy.
[00:30:08] He was the person I was afraid of.
[00:30:10] Yeah, for sure.
[00:30:12] No, Bobby just wanted a little money.
[00:30:14] And so he's trying to extort Ed Ramsey's character throughout.
[00:30:17] There are moments where, you know, the police and stuff are there.
[00:30:20] They're they're moving in.
[00:30:21] They're getting closer and closer to Ed Ramsey.
[00:30:23] And his eye is not on the ball because he is still worried about Shannon.
[00:30:27] Oh, Bobby just runs in.
[00:30:28] All right.
[00:30:28] Look, I got Shannon now.
[00:30:30] I need two million dollars.
[00:30:31] I need two million more dollars.
[00:30:33] I just sprinkle a little bit of extra on top.
[00:30:35] And all he could do was play ball with Bobby until they eventually seize Bobby's for.
[00:30:41] They freeze his assets.
[00:30:42] And so now Bobby out here working for free.
[00:30:45] Dang, Bobby, you get the short end of the stick here.
[00:30:47] Yeah.
[00:30:49] It sucked.
[00:30:50] There were there were definitely some really good moments, I think.
[00:30:53] We talked about some of the big moments.
[00:30:55] I do want to circle back to that to that birthday party, though.
[00:30:59] His girlfriend, this poor lady.
[00:31:01] She didn't ask this.
[00:31:02] This man needs.
[00:31:03] I said it last time.
[00:31:05] I'll say it again.
[00:31:06] He should have been at therapy, been at therapy for this man.
[00:31:13] And at the birthday party, they play the nine one one call from when his when his wife got
[00:31:19] killed while he's with his new current girlfriend.
[00:31:22] And then the very next time we see the two of them together, they having sex.
[00:31:25] I said, you know what?
[00:31:26] You would do anything but go to therapy.
[00:31:29] Yeah.
[00:31:30] Yeah.
[00:31:31] Men will do anything.
[00:31:33] Well, the birthday party.
[00:31:35] I think you have the two things mixed up.
[00:31:37] The birthday party was where Ed was just like, was basically telling the story of Alex Cross.
[00:31:42] Oh, yeah.
[00:31:43] No, I'm saying that's that's after the karaoke party is what I'm saying.
[00:31:47] The karaoke party was the nine one.
[00:31:48] Yeah.
[00:31:49] Alex's birthday.
[00:31:49] Yeah.
[00:31:51] Which I think that was probably be accredited to like Nancy and that other guy.
[00:31:55] Yeah.
[00:31:56] She's in the building.
[00:31:57] Yeah.
[00:31:57] I forgot.
[00:31:58] Yeah.
[00:31:59] Yeah.
[00:32:00] Yeah.
[00:32:01] I'm sorry.
[00:32:02] Telling Alex's story, right?
[00:32:04] Alex's face.
[00:32:04] Alex.
[00:32:05] And then just like and then we get the whole, you know, Alex video of him beating that guy.
[00:32:11] So that Alex, Alex went through a lot in that birthday party.
[00:32:15] But the book Alex would have found a better way to get out of that situation instead of
[00:32:21] like going off the deep end.
[00:32:22] Yeah.
[00:32:23] Literally telling his whole case to a party full of people who don't care.
[00:32:29] Yeah.
[00:32:29] He looked like a crazy person in that.
[00:32:31] I was like, what is happening right now?
[00:32:33] Yeah.
[00:32:34] Well, it's like he's in a room full of white folks and they see him, the police doing police
[00:32:39] brutality.
[00:32:39] Like, that's disgusting.
[00:32:41] You know what I'm saying?
[00:32:42] Since when?
[00:32:43] Since when do y'all care?
[00:32:44] He's just like, see, that's how they do.
[00:32:47] Like, see, that's how they do.
[00:32:48] You see?
[00:32:48] Because he's like, it's weird.
[00:32:51] And I'm like, you would say that.
[00:32:52] He's like, what?
[00:32:55] Boo, defund the police.
[00:32:56] Like, all of a sudden they're like, get him out of here.
[00:33:00] Arrest him, officer.
[00:33:02] What is happening?
[00:33:03] Everybody's like, Ed?
[00:33:05] Ed would never.
[00:33:06] Ed could never kill anyone.
[00:33:08] He's like, he fits the profile.
[00:33:09] He just said he fits the profile.
[00:33:11] Get out of here.
[00:33:12] You beat up people.
[00:33:13] You beat up black men on the street.
[00:33:14] Get out of here.
[00:33:16] Yeah.
[00:33:17] Y'all are right, though.
[00:33:18] If I'm supposed to believe that Alex Cross is going to be a effective detective,
[00:33:22] he definitely gets to get his mental health under control.
[00:33:24] Because this was a complete story of somebody who does not have it.
[00:33:27] He was spiraling throughout to the point where his very own ally, John, is reporting him.
[00:33:32] Like, he's like, yeah, it was me.
[00:33:34] I had to tell because you wild it.
[00:33:36] Yeah.
[00:33:36] Yeah.
[00:33:37] Speaking of John, I think I might have said this when we met last time, but I feel like
[00:33:42] Isaiah Mustafa as John Sampson stole the show for me in several different ways.
[00:33:47] Like, I was like, can we get a Samson show?
[00:33:50] Because I kind of want to see Samson.
[00:33:51] Samson.
[00:33:52] I mean, Samson.
[00:33:53] Yeah.
[00:33:55] And I think one of my favorite moments of this season.
[00:33:59] It better not be the one I'm about to complain about.
[00:34:01] Oh, no.
[00:34:02] It probably is.
[00:34:03] Is that when Samson gets shot, we're like, oh, no, Samson's down.
[00:34:07] And then he comes in at the last second to save everybody.
[00:34:10] Everybody, with X going to give it to you underneath.
[00:34:14] I was like, that does not fit the vibe of this show at all.
[00:34:18] But I love it.
[00:34:20] Romeo must die all of a sudden.
[00:34:22] I was like, what's happening?
[00:34:24] It started to like a Fast and Furious movie real quick.
[00:34:27] But I freaking loved it.
[00:34:29] Against an old lady.
[00:34:31] Yeah.
[00:34:33] Poor Nancy.
[00:34:34] No, I was going to complain about this feud that he's having with Alex.
[00:34:39] Alex, obviously Alex is upset and wrong.
[00:34:41] That is loud and wrong.
[00:34:44] As wrong as he can be.
[00:34:46] They basically have a public breakup in the police office.
[00:34:50] Yeah, police station.
[00:34:51] Yeah.
[00:34:51] Where everybody outside listening.
[00:34:53] The black lady has to come in and break it up.
[00:34:54] Hey, y'all, chill out.
[00:34:55] Because they can hear you out there.
[00:34:57] But they have to come back together at some point and do an apology.
[00:35:00] And Cross's apology was absurd.
[00:35:04] And all John says back is, you had me a motherfucker.
[00:35:07] And I was like, what is this?
[00:35:11] You had me a motherfucker.
[00:35:12] Like staff out here.
[00:35:13] Like staff.
[00:35:14] I was like, you damn right.
[00:35:15] You damn right.
[00:35:17] You damn right.
[00:35:18] Yeah.
[00:35:19] I mean, listen.
[00:35:20] We knew that was coming, though.
[00:35:21] Like, as soon as they had their little squall balls.
[00:35:23] Like, all right.
[00:35:23] They're going to get back together in like two episodes or whatever.
[00:35:25] But they had to have their little fight.
[00:35:26] That's cool.
[00:35:27] Whatever.
[00:35:28] What did y'all think of the Samson and Kayla romance?
[00:35:33] Which, for me, came out of absolute nowhere.
[00:35:36] I'm not going to lie.
[00:35:37] I kept...
[00:35:39] Kayla...
[00:35:40] I was like, who's this random white woman?
[00:35:42] Every time she kept popping up, I was kind of like, who is this again?
[00:35:46] Like, I kept forgetting who she was.
[00:35:49] And she kept just popping up randomly.
[00:35:51] And I was like, oh, she the feds.
[00:35:52] She the feds.
[00:35:53] She's the feds.
[00:35:54] And, you know, for us book readers, Mari, she's like a gender-swapped version of a very
[00:35:59] important character.
[00:36:00] Is that who she...
[00:36:01] Okay.
[00:36:01] Because I was sitting here like...
[00:36:03] Her name is...
[00:36:04] Her name is Kayla Craig.
[00:36:06] So, like, that's...
[00:36:07] Oh.
[00:36:07] For book readers, that should tell you something.
[00:36:10] And so I think this Samson and Kayla romance is going to turn into something interesting
[00:36:14] down the line.
[00:36:16] Especially if they stay true to that character.
[00:36:19] Which is going to be very interesting.
[00:36:20] Which also, at the post-credits scene, like, which is like after the credits or whatever,
[00:36:25] where Kayla's talking to Bobby and basically get, you know, telling Bobby, like, yeah, I
[00:36:28] can get immunity or whatever, whatever.
[00:36:30] But I'm going to need some of those contacts you have under the table.
[00:36:34] Which Kayla may not be all she is cracked out to be.
[00:36:38] Let's just say that.
[00:36:39] Yeah.
[00:36:40] Well, look, I mean, that's a good point.
[00:36:41] Because even in episodes one and two, I was like, who's she finna have sex with?
[00:36:44] Because she just keep popping up.
[00:36:46] And I couldn't tell who she was flirting with.
[00:36:48] She felt like she was flirting with Cross.
[00:36:49] Cross did.
[00:36:50] Okay.
[00:36:50] Now I'm like, okay, she's with John Sampson now.
[00:36:52] So when they started, you know, when they started messing up, messing around, I was like,
[00:36:56] I mean, I guess that makes sense.
[00:36:57] It did come out of nowhere.
[00:36:58] But they had to do something with this woman because she's just around all the time.
[00:37:02] But now that you're pointing out that this is another, you know, probably another famous
[00:37:06] character in the lore that's going to bring me to my next, I guess the next conversation
[00:37:10] I want to have is we already know there's going to be a season two of this.
[00:37:13] And there wasn't exactly any cliffhangers except for that.
[00:37:17] That is like the one, like one thing that we didn't tie up because now we know who's been
[00:37:23] stalking Alex Cross.
[00:37:25] We haven't, we don't really care anymore about none of the like the protesters and none of
[00:37:29] that stuff.
[00:37:29] Like none of that stuff mattered from episode one or two.
[00:37:31] Like that was all just to like get us to the, to, to the serial killer of it all.
[00:37:36] But we have a season two that is coming.
[00:37:39] And I saw rave reviews for this show.
[00:37:41] I mean, people were like all on my Facebook page.
[00:37:43] We're talking about like, you got to watch Cross, you got to watch Cross.
[00:37:47] People are talking about Aldous Hodge as one of the better depictions of Alex Cross that
[00:37:52] we've had in the media.
[00:37:54] I never watched the Tyler Perry one.
[00:37:56] So I don't know if, how I, you know, like where I stand on that.
[00:37:59] I'm just going to say it better.
[00:38:02] Wasn't Morgan Freeman, Alex Cross too at one point, you know?
[00:38:05] So, you know, so I've, what we doing?
[00:38:08] Yeah.
[00:38:09] I've never seen the, the Morgan Freeman movies, but I, you know, I don't know.
[00:38:14] I keep forgetting.
[00:38:16] The Tyler Perry one was, was awful.
[00:38:18] I felt like Aldous Hodge as Alex Cross was very good.
[00:38:22] Like I said, I did feel some discrepancy between book and show, but I thought overall he did
[00:38:27] a very good performance of Alex Cross.
[00:38:29] I thought it was good.
[00:38:30] But for the next season, you know, when Nancy, right, right before she dies, she tells Alex,
[00:38:38] I think it was like, watch out for my babies or something.
[00:38:42] And Alex saw he was talking about like her fake children.
[00:38:45] He was like, no, that's what your wife said right before she died.
[00:38:50] She's like, but that's what I heard.
[00:38:53] She's like, but that's what I heard.
[00:38:54] So, so I forgot her name again.
[00:38:57] And she did not kill.
[00:38:59] She and her people did not kill.
[00:39:00] Yeah.
[00:39:00] Nancy and her people did not kill Alex's wife, but she knows who did.
[00:39:06] She heard about who did.
[00:39:07] So this is like a more of a hint of an overall like mystery slash conspiracy about who killed
[00:39:13] Alex's wife, which I'm sure we'll get more into in season two.
[00:39:16] It's like, it's like people knowing Batman's parents is like, and your parents did.
[00:39:21] Like every two seconds.
[00:39:23] And then they kill themselves and you can't do nothing with it.
[00:39:25] She said, she said, rude.
[00:39:29] Yeah.
[00:39:30] She said, please don't hurt my baby.
[00:39:32] Oh, it's just, uh, my babies need me.
[00:39:34] And she's like, your babies need you.
[00:39:37] And she's like, yo, that's what your wife said.
[00:39:39] You're like, oh, shit.
[00:39:41] Right, right.
[00:39:42] She's on fire.
[00:39:44] Yeah.
[00:39:45] She said, I'll pay in hell.
[00:39:47] Yeah.
[00:39:47] Yeah.
[00:39:49] I was like, she ain't that.
[00:39:50] You know what I mean?
[00:39:54] Hey, man.
[00:39:55] I had such a fun time.
[00:39:57] I had such a fun time watching it though, but there were definitely moments where to
[00:40:01] me, some of the episodes were dragging a little bit because they really want you investing
[00:40:05] in Alex's like family relationship with his kids.
[00:40:08] I thought the child actors did very good because they were asked to do a lot.
[00:40:12] There was a lot of like, hey, daddy, you just pulled a gun on me.
[00:40:15] What's up?
[00:40:15] You know, there was a lot of that coming from like little kids.
[00:40:19] And I was proud of the kids, even at the cabin.
[00:40:22] It was his son, David, who finds out like in the cabin.
[00:40:26] Oh, shoot.
[00:40:26] I think this is the lady.
[00:40:27] I think we're in danger.
[00:40:29] And he like slipped passing a note to his new stepmother.
[00:40:32] Hey, bro, we got to get out of here.
[00:40:36] You know?
[00:40:36] We got problems.
[00:40:37] Yeah.
[00:40:38] We got issues.
[00:40:39] Yeah.
[00:40:39] But I just, to me, I felt like there was a lot of like, they really wanted us to feel
[00:40:44] kind of the loss that Alex has had with losing his wife and stuff where I didn't really need
[00:40:48] it.
[00:40:49] Because like we got all the flashbacks of him and his wife.
[00:40:52] You know, I was kind of like, all right, come on, get back to the story.
[00:40:56] You know?
[00:40:56] Because that doesn't do anything if it's not moving the plot forward.
[00:40:59] Right?
[00:40:59] But it was, it was some big character moments.
[00:41:01] And I think it really allowed Alex Hodge to act and portray Alex Cross in a way that people
[00:41:06] really appreciate it.
[00:41:07] Because I see people talking about this is one of his better roles.
[00:41:10] I mean, I've seen Alex Hodge in a few things, but this is probably, I guess, my favorite
[00:41:14] thing that I've seen him in for sure.
[00:41:15] I don't know if y'all have a lot of, you know, other films that stand out for y'all.
[00:41:19] I heard he was in a good sci-fi film last year, a sci-fi show as well.
[00:41:23] But I mean, yeah, but this is better than, what is it?
[00:41:27] Was he?
[00:41:27] Hawk?
[00:41:28] Hawk?
[00:41:28] Hawk?
[00:41:28] Oh, he was Hawkman in Black Adam, which was terrible.
[00:41:33] He got better than that.
[00:41:34] But this is not going to beat Alec Hardison from Leverage for me.
[00:41:39] Like, I still love that character.
[00:41:40] I love that show.
[00:41:42] You know, he did great in this, but that character for me is really great, really awesome.
[00:41:46] So if I had to compare the two, I would say I loved his Leverage role more than this.
[00:41:50] But it's, you know, it's not a far gulf in between the two.
[00:41:55] Yeah.
[00:41:55] Oh, parallel.
[00:41:56] That's what it was.
[00:41:57] Yeah, he's been one of those people where he's been in a lot of things and he's been really good in the things.
[00:42:03] But I'm glad that this is finally like what feels like a standout role for him.
[00:42:10] Because I remember him in One Night in Miami as Jim Brown.
[00:42:14] I love that movie.
[00:42:15] That's such a good movie to me.
[00:42:16] We should talk about it.
[00:42:18] Yeah, I feel like this is his first mainstream hit.
[00:42:20] It is.
[00:42:21] It is.
[00:42:22] I agree.
[00:42:22] Where he is like the center.
[00:42:25] Yeah.
[00:42:25] Yeah.
[00:42:26] And he did really good.
[00:42:28] Underground.
[00:42:29] I love it.
[00:42:30] I didn't watch Underground.
[00:42:32] Underground was really good.
[00:42:33] He was amazing in Underground now that I think about it.
[00:42:36] Okay.
[00:42:37] So maybe, look, maybe this is the top three out of Tarts.
[00:42:41] Yeah.
[00:42:42] But people are going to be talking about this one for a long time.
[00:42:44] I can already tell.
[00:42:45] Like I said, season one had some rave reviews based on what I was just seeing in conversations.
[00:42:51] And so I'm looking forward to see what we have coming for season two.
[00:42:55] Is there anything else that jumped out to y'all that we really need to highlight in this?
[00:42:59] Mari.
[00:42:59] Oh, Mari, you never told me about the murderer.
[00:43:01] Shannon is made to look like Eileen Wuornos.
[00:43:04] Hello.
[00:43:05] Eileen Wuornos.
[00:43:06] Yeah.
[00:43:07] One of the, probably the most famous female serial killer out there.
[00:43:12] She killed seven men, possibly more, but she was convicted for seven, six or seven, one
[00:43:19] of the two.
[00:43:20] She had a horrible childhood, like absolutely horrible childhood to the point where she was,
[00:43:26] she was a prostitute servicing the Florida area.
[00:43:30] And, you know, depending on who you ask, she, you know, she, a very traumatic thing happened
[00:43:37] to her.
[00:43:37] So then she started killing men.
[00:43:38] And, um, when she was caught, like she, she, she's just infamous.
[00:43:44] She was played by, uh, Charlize Theron in the movie monster.
[00:43:48] Um, literally just one of the biggest names, like serial killer names.
[00:43:53] And like we, they said in this, uh, show, she was, she was born on a leap year, February
[00:43:59] 29th.
[00:44:00] Her lethal injection actually didn't work the first time.
[00:44:05] And like, that was so messed up when they did that to Shannon.
[00:44:08] I was like, Oh, that's, that's messed up.
[00:44:10] She was like, why am I alive?
[00:44:12] He was like, Oh, we planned that too.
[00:44:14] I was like, I mean, shout out to Ryan, to Ryan Eggold for being so freaking creepy in
[00:44:20] this Ed Ramsey role.
[00:44:21] Like he, he really brought it.
[00:44:24] Yeah.
[00:44:24] And like, I know that they were trying to get her like execution stayed after that because
[00:44:30] like that's considered cruel and unusual, but they couldn't.
[00:44:33] And she did end up dying by lethal injection.
[00:44:37] I thought that was some clever writing because remember the whole point of Shannon's character
[00:44:42] is to draw out her death as long as possible.
[00:44:45] Right.
[00:44:45] Yeah.
[00:44:45] And we have, we have her, it has to be done on her birthday.
[00:44:49] Right.
[00:44:49] Uh, and she's born on a leap year that we, we almost killed her, but the lethal injection
[00:44:55] didn't go through.
[00:44:55] It was like every little, like, um, little, uh, role block that you could have to keep
[00:45:00] Shannon from dying would just pop up.
[00:45:02] And it was crazy because it, like you said, it's true to Eileen Wuornos.
[00:45:07] So it's not even like they just made it up.
[00:45:09] It was like, they picked the perfect, um, serial killer victim or I mean, serial killer to be
[00:45:14] the victim here, you know?
[00:45:16] So somebody who, if we follow the text, you know, like as he was doing for each of his victims,
[00:45:21] then yeah, these things had to happen.
[00:45:23] And you know, she was definitely prolonging it in her own way.
[00:45:26] And again, I'm very proud of her, but you know, the lethal injection thing, I was like,
[00:45:29] dang, he got it.
[00:45:30] You know, like they, they shocked me.
[00:45:32] I wasn't ready for it.
[00:45:33] And of course it had to come down to like one button press.
[00:45:36] Like one button.
[00:45:38] She was dead.
[00:45:39] We stopped him just in time, right before the clock struck zero.
[00:45:43] Yeah.
[00:45:44] And Oh, I would, I love to know what you think about, um, Ed Ramsey's final stand.
[00:45:50] Okay.
[00:45:50] Cause he's, he's dead to rights.
[00:45:52] They caught him in his office.
[00:45:54] What could he possibly do?
[00:45:55] They got the serial killer.
[00:45:56] He's going to go to jail forever.
[00:45:58] He grabs the syringe.
[00:45:59] You're like, nah, you're not taking me alive.
[00:46:00] Coppers.
[00:46:01] And he, he injects himself only to pop up later on in the more like, ha ha.
[00:46:07] I'm not dead, bitch.
[00:46:08] I was like, yeah.
[00:46:09] I mean, we kind of saw that come in right though.
[00:46:13] Like we see this in countless TV and movies of like, he's not going to go out like that.
[00:46:18] Right.
[00:46:19] Like it's going to be like something else.
[00:46:21] But my, my, it would be different.
[00:46:22] I didn't see it coming.
[00:46:23] I just thought it was goofy when it happened.
[00:46:25] Well, that was the thing.
[00:46:26] I was like, if he did it to get away, I would have probably been like, oh, that's kind of predictable.
[00:46:31] But it was the fact that he did it because he had to kill her.
[00:46:33] He was like, nah.
[00:46:35] I love that.
[00:46:36] I also thought like when he came back to life, I was like, okay, he's going to escape.
[00:46:40] But no, this man is so dedicated to his cause.
[00:46:43] He's like, ah, I got, I got an unfinished business.
[00:46:47] I got to kill this bitch.
[00:46:48] I got to go.
[00:46:50] It doesn't even have to be in the way that I needed it to be.
[00:46:54] Like I just got to get done quick and dirty.
[00:46:56] Like.
[00:46:56] Yeah.
[00:46:57] I really was wondering, was he going to like, like try and like spike her or something,
[00:47:02] you know, in order to kill her.
[00:47:03] Yeah.
[00:47:03] I almost thought I was like, is he going to actually be able to kill her?
[00:47:06] But no, because they kind of faked this out with that realization.
[00:47:09] Alex had is like, we thought it was about his family, but no, it was, it was about
[00:47:13] Ed Ramsey.
[00:47:15] He's like, oh, like Alex is going to stop him just in time again.
[00:47:18] Again.
[00:47:18] Yeah.
[00:47:19] So I love that part of it.
[00:47:21] He popped up booty ass naked.
[00:47:23] And then he went over, choked out the one guy.
[00:47:25] He goes to the computer.
[00:47:27] I know she in this hospital.
[00:47:30] I'm a kid.
[00:47:31] I'm a kid.
[00:47:31] I'm a kid.
[00:47:32] I'm a kid.
[00:47:33] I'm a kid.
[00:47:34] I'm a kid.
[00:47:34] I'm a kid.
[00:47:34] I'm a kid.
[00:47:35] I'm a kid.
[00:47:37] I'm a kid.
[00:47:37] That's the reason why to me, his end was so fitting is because like he was determined
[00:47:42] to go down in history as the person who immortalized all these serial killers, 12 specific
[00:47:48] killings.
[00:47:48] And it's in this exact way down to a T he's a perfectionist.
[00:47:52] He had OCD.
[00:47:53] Everything had to be perfect to the point where her teeth had to be perfect.
[00:47:57] She couldn't have a visible scar on her face.
[00:47:59] He did all of that stuff just to put it in the book.
[00:48:01] So it's like, if I go to jail, I don't care.
[00:48:03] Cause everybody's going to be talking about me and they said, not so fast.
[00:48:07] We're going to make sure they all talk about Bobby.
[00:48:09] Bobby comes to court.
[00:48:11] Like, okay, Bobby, you got 10 bodies on you.
[00:48:13] But it's like, wait a minute.
[00:48:14] What?
[00:48:14] No.
[00:48:17] All Bobby got to say is show me the evidence.
[00:48:19] And like, Ooh, we burnt the book.
[00:48:22] Yeah.
[00:48:23] About that.
[00:48:25] You got away with this now, Bobby, but the next time we're going to get you.
[00:48:29] So yeah, I liked it.
[00:48:31] I like, like I said, to me, it got better and better.
[00:48:33] Um, the family drama kind of stuff that kind of, that was, that one, like, like I said,
[00:48:37] it kind of felt rushed.
[00:48:38] Cause you really only sit with the reveal of Nancy is the bad guy for like an episode.
[00:48:42] Two seconds.
[00:48:43] But, but when she turned, it was like, Ooh, she is evil.
[00:48:47] That lady's scary.
[00:48:49] Yeah.
[00:48:50] I love that.
[00:48:51] Loved it.
[00:48:51] And the whole her, her making white girl.
[00:48:55] I'm sorry.
[00:48:56] I'm sorry.
[00:48:56] Y'all.
[00:48:56] I don't know their names personally.
[00:48:59] Talk about it.
[00:48:59] She made her other daughter.
[00:49:02] Her, her, her fall.
[00:49:04] Take the fall for her actual stuff.
[00:49:07] Yeah.
[00:49:07] Street daughter.
[00:49:08] Why did they keep talking about that?
[00:49:10] Yeah.
[00:49:10] Street daughter.
[00:49:11] Yeah.
[00:49:11] Take the fall.
[00:49:13] She even said, she's like, Hey, a little white girl with no record.
[00:49:16] You'll be all right.
[00:49:18] You'll be all right.
[00:49:19] You good.
[00:49:19] And then Deidre was not all right.
[00:49:22] That's the thing.
[00:49:23] She's like, you'll be all right, Deidre.
[00:49:24] Then in walks out of Taj.
[00:49:26] She's unrepairable.
[00:49:27] Sorry.
[00:49:27] Therapy can't pick this lady.
[00:49:28] You know what I'm saying?
[00:49:29] Sorry.
[00:49:30] Lock her up, your honor.
[00:49:31] She's done.
[00:49:31] He said, damn.
[00:49:32] Right.
[00:49:33] And then Cross was just kind of like, I can't believe I said those things.
[00:49:36] He's like, why didn't you say those things?
[00:49:38] It was only like a year ago.
[00:49:40] Yeah.
[00:49:41] He said, man, I was wilder.
[00:49:42] That was crazy.
[00:49:43] Man, I was doing therapy.
[00:49:44] But for them to have this, such this vendetta against this one person who had this like
[00:49:48] one interview in court, it was just like, wow.
[00:49:51] Y'all are really out to look for some justice from somebody.
[00:49:56] Like, cause that was just one guy.
[00:49:58] So there's one thing.
[00:49:59] So we're going to come after him and his family.
[00:50:00] Real hardcore.
[00:50:02] They were counting on her getting out of jail.
[00:50:05] And so they're like, all right, we'll let you out as long as you know, you're fixable.
[00:50:09] Let's see if somebody, let's see.
[00:50:10] We brought in a professor and she fixable.
[00:50:13] He's like, no.
[00:50:16] She took her own life in jail.
[00:50:18] Right.
[00:50:19] I think after that, she, I think after that, she, she does.
[00:50:22] And, and that's the problem.
[00:50:24] It's like, she would have gotten out if it wasn't for that meddling, that, that meddling
[00:50:29] psychiatrist in a, you know, or, you know, the woman who told her to take the fall.
[00:50:34] We're not taking accountability today.
[00:50:36] We don't blame it.
[00:50:38] Don't blame the victim.
[00:50:39] Yeah.
[00:50:40] We're not victim blaming.
[00:50:41] Okay.
[00:50:42] Yeah.
[00:50:43] This was fun.
[00:50:45] I thought it was really good.
[00:50:46] Like I, overall, I thought it was great.
[00:50:47] Yes.
[00:50:48] I have some squabbles with it, but I thought overall, it was a really good season of television.
[00:50:52] I had me, had twists and turns, had me guessing sometimes.
[00:50:55] So I really, really enjoyed it.
[00:50:57] And I can't wait for season two.
[00:50:58] Like I really want to see season two.
[00:51:01] Yes, exactly.
[00:51:02] I really want to see where they go in season two, because again, we said like, they, they
[00:51:06] kind of made this case up, right?
[00:51:07] This is, yeah, this is, this is not a book plot.
[00:51:10] So I'm going to see if they, if they take from a book next season or they go with another
[00:51:14] original plot next season.
[00:51:16] I would like to see a book in live action.
[00:51:18] Um, I would like that, but I didn't appreciate them, uh, you know, coming up with this whole
[00:51:23] cloth.
[00:51:24] I agree.
[00:51:25] And, and I'm sorry, I don't mean to interrupt you, Jason, but like, I think this, this is
[00:51:30] a good test season to show how they can plot out, like, you know, their two cases or however
[00:51:37] they want to do so that they, hopefully they can adapt a book faithfully across the season,
[00:51:42] you know, cause that's what I want to see.
[00:51:44] I want to see a case from a book, um, adapted across the whole entire season.
[00:51:50] Um, like I, unlike how I was telling you guys, they, they do the Will Trent novels over on
[00:51:55] ABC, how they do a book and episode.
[00:51:57] And I was like, this is, yeah.
[00:51:59] So yeah.
[00:52:01] Do you think that we're only going to get to two seasons?
[00:52:04] Cause right now we're told we're only getting two seasons, but if you think about it, shows
[00:52:07] like the blacklist go on for 10 seasons with the same kind of model of just like, kind
[00:52:12] of like case of the week, but with the overlap arching type of, you know, mystery that we
[00:52:16] can solve.
[00:52:17] There's gotta be a way cause the way it was, uh, like received by the audience and based
[00:52:22] on just like, you know, the fun conversation we just had, I wouldn't be mad if we got more
[00:52:26] seasons.
[00:52:26] It's kind of, I'm kind of giving them side eye for being like two and done, you know,
[00:52:29] even though a lot of times I'm the biggest complainer.
[00:52:32] Yeah.
[00:52:32] I don't think they're saying that.
[00:52:33] I, they don't give out multi season orders a whole lot.
[00:52:37] I just think they're going one season at a time.
[00:52:39] Like two does well.
[00:52:41] Then we'll get a season three.
[00:52:42] So on and so forth.
[00:52:44] Yeah.
[00:52:44] I think you're saying, yeah, you guys got two seasons because it's well known that James
[00:52:48] Patterson negotiated for two seasons up front.
[00:52:51] Yeah.
[00:52:52] So yeah.
[00:52:52] If season two does well, I'm sure they're going to do a season three.
[00:52:55] I think season two, they announced it even before season one, it came out.
[00:52:59] So, you know, so I could definitely see as going like multiple, multiple seasons
[00:53:03] because they definitely have a lot of source material and they have shown they can make
[00:53:07] up a good, a good plot on their own anyway.
[00:53:10] So yeah.
[00:53:11] The thing is, it's Amazon prime, right?
[00:53:14] So like, are they going to keep with this model of dumping all eight episodes out at
[00:53:21] one time?
[00:53:22] You know what I'm saying?
[00:53:23] Like.
[00:53:24] Probably.
[00:53:25] Yeah.
[00:53:25] I mean, that's a good question.
[00:53:26] Because I mean, Reacher does the same thing.
[00:53:28] Jack Ryan's the same thing.
[00:53:29] Most of it.
[00:53:30] Does it?
[00:53:30] Yeah.
[00:53:30] Most of their things, they dump out all the episodes at once.
[00:53:33] Okay.
[00:53:34] Yeah.
[00:53:34] And I know people love the Reacher and the Jack Ryan series.
[00:53:38] I like both of those series.
[00:53:39] James likes them both too.
[00:53:40] I could definitely see if they, if they like, I would be interested in a crossover of
[00:53:45] like a Reacher and an Alex Cross.
[00:53:48] That would be interesting.
[00:53:49] Because they, you know, they've done books like that.
[00:53:51] They've done.
[00:53:52] Yeah.
[00:53:53] Yeah.
[00:53:53] This is the third biggest season premiere of 2024 for Amazon's, you know, prime or whatever.
[00:54:01] What's the other two people?
[00:54:03] I believe it was Fallout season one and The Lord of the Rings, The Rings of Power.
[00:54:08] Oh, okay.
[00:54:09] And so, yeah.
[00:54:10] And so.
[00:54:10] That's pretty good.
[00:54:11] Behind this.
[00:54:12] Yeah.
[00:54:13] 40 million viewers is nothing to kind of scoff at.
[00:54:16] In a premiere, right?
[00:54:17] Like in 20 days.
[00:54:18] In the first days of it being.
[00:54:21] I believe.
[00:54:22] Well, I don't know if the boys have a season premiere.
[00:54:26] Yeah.
[00:54:28] Yeah, I guess so.
[00:54:29] I guess the boys.
[00:54:29] The boys are on 24th.
[00:54:31] Yeah.
[00:54:31] Right?
[00:54:32] Yeah.
[00:54:32] Then it beat the boys.
[00:54:33] Yeah.
[00:54:33] Because it was Fallout 65 million in 16 days.
[00:54:36] The Rings of Power had 40 million in 11 days.
[00:54:38] And Cross debuted on November 14th, giving it 40 million viewers in the first 20 days.
[00:54:44] Well, I can see Cross out doing.
[00:54:45] I can see like season one of Cross out doing a season five of The Boys.
[00:54:49] It's like we've seen the boys a lot.
[00:54:51] Like Cross is brand new.
[00:54:52] So I can see that making sense.
[00:54:54] Okay.
[00:54:55] The third biggest launch for a prime video series and the sixth biggest launch of all
[00:55:00] time for the platform when 20 days of viewership were counted.
[00:55:03] So, I mean, it did numbers.
[00:55:05] So there's.
[00:55:06] Yeah.
[00:55:06] There's reasons to believe that it'll be back.
[00:55:08] And I like that because again, we complain here on Recap Kickback about us not getting
[00:55:13] a chance to really sit with shows, even shows that people say like, well, the first
[00:55:16] season wasn't good.
[00:55:17] A lot of times we don't get a second season to talk about it.
[00:55:19] I'm still mad, Mari, that we haven't.
[00:55:22] I don't know if we need to reach out to Apple or what, but whatever happened to our Lakeith
[00:55:26] Stanfield show?
[00:55:27] Are we never going to go back to that?
[00:55:29] I know.
[00:55:30] We're just, it's just the rowing.
[00:55:32] That's all we're left with.
[00:55:33] Him rowing off to the middle of the.
[00:55:36] That's it.
[00:55:37] That's it.
[00:55:38] You know?
[00:55:38] And so it's like, we talked about it and we never, we never revisited it.
[00:55:44] And I don't think I've heard anything about it at all.
[00:55:46] And so, you know, we want to give our shows chances to thrive and, you know, and to be
[00:55:52] enjoy or even to get better.
[00:55:54] And so I think season one was solid.
[00:55:57] It was good.
[00:55:58] But it could be better and it could be better if you give it more time.
[00:56:01] So we're going to see what season two looks like.
[00:56:02] And I say it could be as early as 2025.
[00:56:04] So maybe by the end of next year, we'll be talking about Cross all over again.
[00:56:08] But yeah, hopefully, hopefully we get the changeling too.
[00:56:12] But Jason, thank you for joining us and talking about this show.
[00:56:17] Tell everybody what you got going on and what you're doing as we approach the new year 2025.
[00:56:22] Yeah, you can find me on Blue Sky at JR33D.
[00:56:26] You can find me on podcasts on the Rob Has Podcast Network on the Love at First Sight feed.

[00:56:39] So come check us out.
[00:56:40] You can also check me out on the Good Pod where me and my host, me and my host, Marissa Garza,
[00:56:44] talk about the show The Good Wife from back in the day.
[00:56:47] We also talk about current day Ellsworth season two, all in the Good Wife universe.
[00:56:52] So if that tickles your fancy, come on over and give us a shot.
[00:56:56] Yes, and thank you again, Jason, for being with us.
[00:56:59] We have to get you back.
[00:57:00] I got some other content that we, you know, we play with some ideas,
[00:57:03] but we're running out of time here in the holiday season trying to get all this stuff recorded.
[00:57:07] And so we'll try to keep more Jason content so y'all don't have to write it in the comments no more.
[00:57:13] Mari, what about you?
[00:57:14] What you got going on?
[00:57:16] Of course, me and Terry Carradine, True Crime Tuesdays over on the Crime Scene Podcast.
