[00:01:17] What's up, fam? And welcome back to Hot D, the Westeros Kickback here on Recap Kickback. I'm your host, Chappelle, and this is Recap Kickback, where we talk about TV, movies, and music, and all the while showing love to Black content artists and creators whenever we get a chance.
[00:01:31] But once again, we are talking about House of the Dragon here. And with me, my co-host, the maester of whispers and the keeper of receipts, Maester Mari Forth. Mari, what's good?
[00:01:42] I am so excited to finally talk about this episode. I've been waiting for it for weeks now.
[00:01:48] Waiting for it.
[00:01:49] Yeah, we're going to have some fun tonight. I can feel it.
[00:01:53] Yes, this episode is the red sewing, I think. And Mari has been hinting that it was coming. She's been begging for it to come. It finally came.
[00:02:01] And so we're going to talk about it. And joining us, someone who has returned to King's Landing, to Westeros, to kick it with us here at the Kickback.
[00:02:08] We just had her on our Recap Kickback last week, talking about Simone Biles' journey to the Olympic gold and Paris for 2024 Olympics.
[00:02:15] It's LaTanya Starks. LaTanya, what's good?
[00:02:17] It me. I'm back.
[00:02:20] Yes.
[00:02:20] I would like a dragon if they're just up for grabs.
[00:02:25] Two for one sale.
[00:02:27] Yeah.
[00:02:28] Come one, come all. Get a dragon. Or die.
[00:02:33] Y'all say you bold. You bold. Because I saw what happened when you want to claim a dragon. And I'm good. I am good. I'm fine.
[00:02:39] Leave me with the small folk like my ancestors, you know. I'm not trying to figure out what this is like.
[00:02:45] But LaTanya, thanks for coming back. How have you been feeling about this season?
[00:02:50] I've been really enjoying a lot of this season. It's very different from the first season, you know, because we had that like time jump mechanism that was a little clunky.
[00:03:01] But I've been enjoying the setup and kind of like the palace intrigue of it all and the moments that we get to spend with the characters.
[00:03:08] The one thing I will say is that I want season one Daemon Targaryen back.
[00:03:14] Because I don't know what's happening in Harrenhal and neither does he. And it needs to, I need a resolution.
[00:03:23] There's so much confusion.
[00:03:28] Yes, that too. But yes, LaTanya, thank you for being back. Obviously, we got some Aaliyah to address at some point.
[00:03:35] We don't want to go too far back, back, back and forth. But we are going to talk about tonight's episode, season two, episode seven, The Red Sewing.
[00:03:43] Last week, we had the war dog on from Survivor Edge of Extinction. So if you didn't catch that, go check that out.
[00:03:48] He was such a fun guest. He took the time to break down the lore of each of the dragons just in time for this episode.
[00:03:56] When Mari and him were dancing around was that eventually we're going to see people try to claim these dragons.
[00:04:01] And Mari, this was the episode where it finally happened.
[00:04:02] Yep, this is finally. It's called The Red Sewing, The Sewing of the Dragon Seeds, all of the above.
[00:04:10] This was great. I have so many thoughts and opinions about this.
[00:04:15] And I'm so glad we're finally here. Finally here. We can unleash the...
[00:04:20] We can unleash the dragon.
[00:04:24] Y'all don't make me unleash the dragon. Yeah.
[00:04:27] I don't really want to unleash the dragons, okay?
[00:04:29] We're about to...
[00:04:31] But I want to thank you all for being here and joining us for our weekly House of the Dragon content here on Recap Kickback.
[00:04:37] Hopefully you've been enjoying your time here at West Rose Kickback while we are going to be ending the season very quickly after this.
[00:04:45] I think this is the penultimate episode, meaning there's one episode left.
[00:04:48] But we're hoping you'll stay a while. You know, subscribe.
[00:04:50] Make sure you click like on this video because we got a lot of other content coming your way.
[00:04:55] And I'm pretty sure there's another iteration of Game of Thrones coming soon, Mari.
[00:05:00] I'm sure we'll be back for this.
[00:05:01] Yeah.
[00:05:02] For now. What's coming up next?
[00:05:05] Night of the Seven Kingdoms.
[00:05:06] Night of the Seven Kingdoms.
[00:05:07] It's based on what was short stories by George R. R. Martin, which turned into graphic novels and audiobooks, full treatment.
[00:05:16] It is a really good series.
[00:05:18] It currently has three books.
[00:05:19] It was set to have seven.
[00:05:21] Again, and these aren't books.
[00:05:23] I shouldn't say books.
[00:05:24] These are short stories, like novellas.
[00:05:28] But now that I say that, I'm like, but it's short for him, but kind of long for other authors.
[00:05:35] But the graphic novels are really good.
[00:05:38] Like, I would say go get the graphic novels, the comics.
[00:05:41] They're really good.
[00:05:42] And I think you would love it.
[00:05:44] Chappelle, it's called Night of the Seven Kingdoms.
[00:05:46] The story of Dunk and Egg.
[00:05:48] It follows Sir Duncan the Tall and his squire Egg.
[00:05:53] Not to be confused with who will be the future Egg on the Fit.
[00:05:59] But that's not a spoiler.
[00:06:01] It's right there in the thing.
[00:06:04] So it's really, it's like a buddy cop.
[00:06:07] It's almost like a buddy cop spinoff.
[00:06:09] Because, yeah, it follows a hedge knight.
[00:06:12] Hedge knights are unlanded knights.
[00:06:13] They're knights, like, they're like sellswords.
[00:06:15] They're like knights who just go around the kingdom and get paid to do odd jobs.
[00:06:21] And it follows Duncan the Tall, who is a hedge knight, who, like, honestly just continues to fall ass-backward into trouble.
[00:06:30] Like, continuously.
[00:06:31] To the point where he's, like, at historical events and he doesn't even realize it and shit.
[00:06:37] So it's really, it's almost like force gum.
[00:06:38] Yeah.
[00:06:40] Yes.
[00:06:41] And he's, like, not that smart.
[00:06:43] So, yeah.
[00:06:43] It's a really fun, it's a really fun little short series.
[00:06:48] And they're, they already optioned it at HBO.
[00:06:51] They've already started filming it.
[00:06:53] And it is expected for release next year.
[00:06:55] So we should be having alternate, like, Dunk Sir Dunk the Tall and then House of Dragons.
[00:07:02] Like that.
[00:07:03] So it's going to be very fun.
[00:07:05] Is this the same egg?
[00:07:06] Sorry.
[00:07:07] Is it the same egg that is Maester Raymond's brother or a different one?
[00:07:10] Yes.
[00:07:12] It's, it's his, it's his, okay, the Tarjan tree is, it's like his nephew.
[00:07:21] Egg is his nephew, I believe.
[00:07:23] Okay.
[00:07:23] Because they pass up Master Aemon and it goes to the little nephew.
[00:07:29] Yes.
[00:07:30] Egg is the fifth, he's the fourth son of a fourth son and become, ends up becoming king.
[00:07:35] It's like, it never happens.
[00:07:39] Yeah.
[00:07:39] Yeah.
[00:07:40] And I think the, I think the episodes are slated to drop next summer, uh, 2025.
[00:07:46] And so we do have a long break until then.
[00:07:48] It's only six episodes because they love playing in our face and making us wait years and years
[00:07:52] and years for crumbs.
[00:07:53] Yeah.
[00:07:54] But in the meantime, we do take requests, y'all.
[00:07:57] We take requests.
[00:07:58] So let us know if there's something on here that we should be talking about on Recap Kickback
[00:08:01] because I would love to bring you the content that you want.
[00:08:03] We also take feedback and we got a little feedback for our panel here today.
[00:08:07] First of all, I want to give a shout out to all the people who, uh, comment weekly in our YouTube comments.
[00:08:13] Y'all are great.
[00:08:14] Y'all give us so much to talk about here and so much to discuss.
[00:08:16] Um, Dolores and our YouTube comments wanted to give a shout out to Mari and her fourth wing recommendation.
[00:08:21] She said, Hey, that's a good book to re-recommend it for people who like the dragon.
[00:08:24] So check that out if you haven't.
[00:08:26] Um, and Mari, Andrew Jackson wanted to know, uh, if the Valerians are dragon riders historically as well,
[00:08:32] because we will see in this very episode that, um, one of the halls ends up on a dragon and he is a Valerian, uh, or Valerian descent.
[00:08:39] Uh, we know Corlys is his daddy, but, um, he's, uh, he's flying a dragon.
[00:08:44] So what's the story behind Valerians on, on the, on Dragonback?
[00:08:47] So the Valerians historically are not dragon Lords.
[00:08:52] Uh, Corlys says it, um, they are normally like masters at sea.
[00:08:57] However, they share the blood of old Valeria.
[00:09:01] That's where the Valerians and the Targaryens came from.
[00:09:04] Uh, they are two families that survived the fall or the doom of Valeria.
[00:09:10] Um, they, they were able to flee Valeria before it, it disappears.
[00:09:15] It gets wiped off the map.
[00:09:16] We don't know what, what happened to it.
[00:09:19] It's still a mystery in the books, but it's called the doom of Valeria and both houses survive along with house Celtagar.
[00:09:25] We talked about that a little bit last week.
[00:09:27] Um, so the blood of old Valeria runs in their veins.
[00:09:31] And we talked about an old Valeria last, uh, last season.
[00:09:34] They talked about how old Valeria is where most of the magic was centered in the world.
[00:09:39] That's where the dragons and the dragon riders originated.
[00:09:42] And that blood is seen to be, it's looked at as pure and full of magic.
[00:09:46] And that's why the Targaryens intermarry because of it.
[00:09:49] So the Valerians aren't of Targaryen blood.
[00:09:53] They are of the blood of old Valeria.
[00:09:55] And so it's thought that that is why that they still might have some link to dragons and to magic because they are still the blood of old Valeria, even though they are not Targaryens.
[00:10:08] Okay.
[00:10:09] Good explanation.
[00:10:10] Yeah.
[00:10:10] Yeah.
[00:10:11] No, that makes a lot of sense.
[00:10:12] I see a lot, a lot of people are struggling with the whole Valerian, Valeria, the Targaryen stuff.
[00:10:17] I've been seeing it online.
[00:10:19] Yeah.
[00:10:19] It's like, cause you know, it's like, um, how, like when immigrants come to this country and,
[00:10:24] you know, their names are one thing in their country and then they, they just like, what was your name?
[00:10:30] Yeah.
[00:10:30] Okay.
[00:10:31] Whatever we're going to give you is going to, we're going to call you this because it sounded like whatever you said.
[00:10:35] It's like that.
[00:10:36] That's how I imagined that the Valeria, like the Valerians got their name because they came from Valeria and they turned themselves to the Valerian, you know, whatever.
[00:10:45] That's, that's how I imagine it.
[00:10:47] You know?
[00:10:47] Yeah.
[00:10:48] It makes a lot of sense.
[00:10:49] Also, we got a Instagram message from Satoria Tomberlin, which actually would be a great,
[00:10:54] a great game of Thrones name.
[00:10:56] Yeah.
[00:10:57] Yeah.
[00:10:57] Um, she had a lot of things to say to me about saying Allison hasn't done nothing wrong.
[00:11:01] Satoria, I'm going to tell you right now, I didn't read that.
[00:11:03] What I'm going to read is the question from Mari, uh, which is what do you think about the show's decision to make young Rhaenyra and Allison BFFs?
[00:11:11] Because, uh, that does add another dynamic to their relationship.
[00:11:16] Yeah.
[00:11:16] And it's, it's not a thing in the book or anything like that.
[00:11:19] So them making them best friends, I, I talked about it last season, um, for the book club on a post show recap, stress in peace.
[00:11:27] Um, but I thought it was genius.
[00:11:30] Like there's so many things about this show that, that they choose to do with the source material that I think is absolutely brilliant.
[00:11:38] And I think, um, aging, cause they, I think they had to age Rhaenyra up and Allison down in order for them to, uh, be friends and be in the same age range.
[00:11:50] And I thought it was smart because it makes the betrayal feel even betrayally, like even worse.
[00:11:58] So I actually loved, uh, that decision and I think it set off like season one really set a great foundation for what was going to be.
[00:12:08] I think they, they confirmed four seasons.
[00:12:10] So I think it was great.
[00:12:12] Yeah.
[00:12:12] Latonya, what do you think about it?
[00:12:15] I think that it was a really good decision.
[00:12:17] Allison, I think it's supposed to be 10 years older than Rhaenyra in the book.
[00:12:22] And that would have played very typical evil stepmother.
[00:12:28] Yes.
[00:12:29] Mm-hmm.
[00:12:30] Whereas this dynamic, you know, like they're so close, they share everything with each other at one point, you know, and those parallels continue to their adulthood.
[00:12:42] They share a man in Kristen Cole.
[00:12:44] They share a daddy.
[00:12:45] They now both have a...
[00:12:47] Yeah.
[00:12:48] Oh God.
[00:12:50] Don't call Maceras daddy.
[00:12:51] Zaddy.
[00:12:55] Zaddy V.
[00:12:56] Vizzy T.
[00:12:58] No.
[00:12:59] They now have a scar, like each have a scar on their arm and like generally the same place.
[00:13:06] I mean, they're like making them best friends that grow apart because of circumstances and like choices that are made and then have them lead parallel lives is, I think, so much more interesting than just having like an evil stepmother.
[00:13:22] Yeah.
[00:13:23] Yep.
[00:13:23] Totally agree.
[00:13:24] Great point.
[00:13:25] Yes.
[00:13:26] And so let's get into what happened in this episode because I've been seeing a lot of people complaining and saying like, oh, this season is boring.
[00:13:33] Is that another...
[00:13:33] I've not found any of these episodes boring.
[00:13:35] I've enjoyed this entire run.
[00:13:37] This might be my least favorite episode so far.
[00:13:40] Of course.
[00:13:40] Because, well, I just felt like there wasn't a lot of the political stuff that I like to sign up for.
[00:13:45] You know, this was kind of like the just, okay, the thing we've been waiting on to happen is it's about to happen.
[00:13:50] By the end of the episode, we see that it does happen.
[00:13:53] Rhaenyra's big plan is to gather the bastards and let us find somebody who can ride these two dragons, Vermithor and Silverwing.
[00:14:01] And so she's talking about her plan throughout.
[00:14:04] And by the end of the episode, we do see the red sewing that Mari's talked about.
[00:14:09] She rounds up the bastards, sends them all over from King's Landing all to Dragonstone, gives them a pep talk, says, hey, y'all, now it sounds crazy.
[00:14:21] You could get a dragon, but you could also be dead.
[00:14:23] And then just lets the odds be in their favor.
[00:14:26] And we see that two of the possibly about 50 bastards make it out alive and manage to claim a dragon.
[00:14:37] Latonya, you're new here.
[00:14:38] How do you feel?
[00:14:39] Worst gathering of the juggalos ever.
[00:14:46] I think it's really interesting that this show is almost choosing to like democratize the power that Targaryens are supposed to possess.
[00:14:58] It's kind of like The Last Jedi with Star Wars with Broom Boy, where they were like, anyone could have access to the force, right?
[00:15:06] It really does completely upend things in terms of like Targaryen tradition and just monarchy in general.
[00:15:16] I feel like Rhaenyra has her ragtag group of bastards now.
[00:15:21] And she's like ready for war.
[00:15:23] And I would like to see it.
[00:15:25] Like, I just like all of these characters.
[00:15:28] I love Ellen and Adam.
[00:15:31] Like, I'm sure they're going to be playing big parts in the wars to come.
[00:15:35] I just don't know what they are yet.
[00:15:36] But, I mean, just the idea of Rhaenyra choosing to do this and kind of make it so that she demystifies the Targaryen name.
[00:15:48] You know, people are not for it.
[00:15:51] Like, her son, her own son is not for it.
[00:15:53] The dragon keepers are like, we are not participating in this.
[00:15:56] I don't care.
[00:15:57] Like, this is ridiculous.
[00:15:58] But she ends up with more dragon riders as a result, which was her intention in the first place.
[00:16:05] And these people did go willingly.
[00:16:07] Like, I will say that.
[00:16:09] Like, they essentially signed a waiver.
[00:16:11] They did.
[00:16:12] They did.
[00:16:13] They sent a boat and said, you can get on the boat if you want to.
[00:16:15] And we saw people like Hugh the Hammer and, you know, the drunk, off the drunk slash off the white, off the white drunk, really trying to figure out, is this something I need to do?
[00:16:27] Is this something I really should be doing?
[00:16:29] Hugh was gung-ho for it.
[00:16:31] But Mari, my boy, off.
[00:16:33] Off was like, did I stay out with a Targaryen that while?
[00:16:37] I'm like, me did.
[00:16:39] I don't know if I should be flying a dragon.
[00:16:41] You know what I'm saying?
[00:16:42] It's all kind of crazy.
[00:16:43] My leg hurt.
[00:16:43] Y'all leg don't hurt.
[00:16:45] Y'all don't feel bad.
[00:16:46] I shot my toe off.
[00:16:50] He had been sitting in that bar drinking off them people's dime for years, probably, saying, I'm royalty, baby.
[00:16:58] Pop me a drink.
[00:17:00] And finally, they had to hold his feet to the fire and say, all right, now you done got drunk off of us for a very long time.
[00:17:06] It's your time to go get on that dragon or else.
[00:17:08] Yeah.
[00:17:09] I like that scene.
[00:17:10] And his friend's like, hey, you said it.
[00:17:15] Let's go.
[00:17:15] Let's go.
[00:17:16] Let's go.
[00:17:16] That was really good.
[00:17:18] It's really funny because as a book reader, I like that they're emphasizing everything that Latonya said.
[00:17:25] Like, is this really like, for lack of a better word, bastardization of like the dragon rider, the godliness of it?
[00:17:35] Because honestly, to me, as I'm reading the book, I never lost deference for it.
[00:17:42] Because to me, it's still like, oh, it almost to me was like the Targaryens are so powerful that even if you have a drop of their blood, that you could be this powerful person.
[00:17:52] So I didn't see it as a demeaning thing.
[00:17:55] But I did like a lot of the dissenting voices.
[00:17:59] Because once you actually think about it, and in this world, what they have, you know, equivalented like dragons to is like warheads, nuclear weapons.
[00:18:11] So it's like you're putting nuclear weapons in the hands of who?
[00:18:16] Who are these people?
[00:18:17] Who are you?
[00:18:17] Who are these niggas?
[00:18:18] Like, who are you putting giving these dragons to?
[00:18:21] Yeah.
[00:18:23] So, so like, once you stop and think about it like that, it's like, oh, yeah, like people should not be cool with you just throwing any old person up on a dragon and telling them like, let's go, follow me, let's go, you know?
[00:18:36] So I loved all of the different opinions about it and all that.
[00:18:42] And Rhaenyra kind of like being like, but I need dragons.
[00:18:45] And then kind of putting on this facade, like, oh, the gods, this, the god, this, like they said in the after scenes, talking about how it's almost like a cult.
[00:18:55] Like she's, she's almost like rounding out a cult because that's what it has to be.
[00:18:59] You have to have these people like deep belief in order for them to go and risk their lives, especially somebody like Ulf, who, who, who is like sitting there at the back of the room, like, what did I get myself into?
[00:19:11] Yeah.
[00:19:13] I like that you brought up the, you know, the, the idea that, you know, you can't just let these, these war machines go and just like hand them to the small folk.
[00:19:21] Right.
[00:19:21] Because God knows what they'll do with them.
[00:19:23] But at the same time, there's so much elitism that goes into being a Targaryen.
[00:19:27] We see it with Jace.
[00:19:28] Jace goes to his mom, like, so you just really going to let these mongrels?
[00:19:32] I said, mongrel?
[00:19:34] Jace, hold on, Jace.
[00:19:35] Slow down, baby.
[00:19:36] You got a little too much shit.
[00:19:38] Too much shit.
[00:19:39] Yeah, yeah.
[00:19:40] Too much shit.
[00:19:41] Because who are you to say calls about your monogrel?
[00:19:44] But it's really just that, it's that classism of just like, hey, we're Targaryens and we're highborn.
[00:19:50] It's not because anybody can be a Targaryen.
[00:19:52] As we can see, you, you can go become a Targaryen because your mama works at the wrong brothel, you know, or because your daddy can't stay out of the brothel.
[00:19:58] You know, we will see that with the bastards that we get in this episode.
[00:20:02] But we'll also just get other accounts of, I don't really remember who your mama is or, you know, whatever the case may be.
[00:20:08] And you just happen to have that blood.
[00:20:10] So the thing that really separates them is the idea that I get, I'm highborn.
[00:20:13] I get to sit up here on my high horse and look down on you and say, you're not worthy of these things.
[00:20:19] And for Jace, it hits a little close to home because he's now seeing potentially white-haired Targaryens coming back.
[00:20:25] And that's the worst case scenario for someone like Jace because being that he's dark-haired Latonya,
[00:20:31] I just feel like, I feel like Jace is, is Jace a bastard too Latonya?
[00:20:37] Is that right?
[00:20:40] I mean, according to the technical term, he was born out of wedlock.
[00:20:48] So he was only legitimized by Laenor just being like, yeah, this is my white baby.
[00:20:55] That's me.
[00:20:56] That baby looks just like me.
[00:20:57] Y'all can't tell?
[00:21:00] He's a bastard.
[00:21:01] And he knows him.
[00:21:02] And he knows him.
[00:21:03] He, for the first time in a long time, since he was very young, he's still young, but like,
[00:21:09] since he was a little kid, verbalized, like, notice this brown hair?
[00:21:15] Like, do you ever, like, think about the consequences it might have?
[00:21:20] Like, what happens if you die?
[00:21:22] Then my only claim would be like, I'm her son and I have a dragon.
[00:21:26] Oh, wait.
[00:21:27] But all of these other people have dragons too.
[00:21:30] So he has, he's starting to have like a little bit of an identity crisis surrounding the succession.
[00:21:37] And he's really just like lashing out at his mom.
[00:21:41] It's hard enough that Rhaenyra has to fight a war, but then she has to deal with like this moody little teenage boy as well.
[00:21:51] Yeah.
[00:21:52] And yeah, it's basically just his own insecurities peeking through.
[00:21:58] Because, like he said, like all, his only claim is that he has a dragon.
[00:22:03] He doesn't have the hair, the Targaryen.
[00:22:05] But to me, I'm like, like for me, I hate it.
[00:22:09] I hate this thought process.
[00:22:10] Because like, no matter who his daddy is, he came out of that Targaryen coochie.
[00:22:15] You know what I'm saying?
[00:22:15] Like, he is Targaryen.
[00:22:17] Like, no matter what color the hair is, full blown, he is a Targaryen.
[00:22:24] And him being like, oh, I don't, because I don't have that hair and him being mad at her for not having the hair.
[00:22:30] Like, my claim is out the window.
[00:22:31] It's like, no, your claim is through her rightfully.
[00:22:36] Bastard or not.
[00:22:37] You know what I'm saying?
[00:22:38] Like, you are of Targaryen descent and direct bloodbine.
[00:22:44] You know, your father isn't it, but your mother is.
[00:22:48] And she is royal and she is highborn.
[00:22:51] But it's just all those small insecurities.
[00:22:54] Because he's like, well, how am I different from these other bastards with their white hair and their dragons?
[00:23:00] And he is, because he is from the true heir, the queen of the seven kingdoms, Rhaenyra Targaryen.
[00:23:10] Ha!
[00:23:10] No!
[00:23:12] Look, look.
[00:23:13] You know what?
[00:23:14] I kind of see where he coming from.
[00:23:16] And hear me out, because I know y'all are going to be like, here to come the contrarian.
[00:23:19] But listen to me.
[00:23:20] Listen to me.
[00:23:20] He is bringing up the same, the very same argument Rhaenyra was bringing up with Vizzy T,
[00:23:26] which is when you die, who gives a damn what you think?
[00:23:29] Because you're not here.
[00:23:30] I need to be legitimized now, basically.
[00:23:33] Because Rhaenyra let Vizzy T die.
[00:23:35] And the moment he died, the war broke out.
[00:23:37] People could try to blame Alicent.
[00:23:39] They could try to blame Rhaenyra.
[00:23:40] They could try to blame whoever.
[00:23:41] The moment Viserys said, and a lot of it was Otto.
[00:23:45] But the moment Viserys said, I'm going to name my daughter the queen, the first queen of everything
[00:23:52] in this world of misogyny and patriarchy that everybody has only known one way.
[00:23:57] They were like, okay, cool.
[00:23:59] Bet.
[00:23:59] When you die, we're going to change our minds.
[00:24:00] And what he should have done is made her the queen while he was still alive to where he
[00:24:05] could keep everybody at bay.
[00:24:06] Hey, y'all are loyal to me.
[00:24:08] I'm still here.
[00:24:09] He didn't die at old age.
[00:24:11] He could have done this early on.
[00:24:12] He could have done this very quickly.
[00:24:13] When he got sick, he should have let Rhaenyra start taking over, start kind of easing her
[00:24:18] into that.
[00:24:18] If Rhaenyra dies tomorrow, if she has a heart attack and dies, there's a good chance that
[00:24:23] people are going to be like, now can we really talk about Jace's heritage right now?
[00:24:26] Because I mean, now that we got these white-haired Targaryens, we know, we know, we know that
[00:24:33] he has a dragon.
[00:24:34] But that's about it.
[00:24:35] We don't even like Rhaenyra like that.
[00:24:36] Like people can turn their back on her the moment that she's gone.
[00:24:40] So I think he has a valid concern.
[00:24:42] They don't have to.
[00:24:43] Listen, they could, you know, keep their loyalty or their oath to her, but they don't have to.
[00:24:49] We've seen that before.
[00:24:50] Yeah, that's true.
[00:24:51] It's true.
[00:24:52] What is she supposed to do?
[00:24:53] Like step down and make him the king?
[00:24:55] Well, his alternative is how about don't bring in all these other potential heirs?
[00:25:00] You know, it's the same.
[00:25:01] Again, the same thing that Sarah did.
[00:25:03] Yeah, but he didn't know she was about to be like any random bastard.
[00:25:07] He thought it was Sir Darkling.
[00:25:09] You're like, he worked for us.
[00:25:10] He good.
[00:25:11] He's like, oh, you got black dragon riders now?
[00:25:13] Wow.
[00:25:14] Other ones, you know, more.
[00:25:16] Yeah, but I get why he's upset.
[00:25:19] But these people, the parentage on all of these people that they bring on is dubious at best.
[00:25:24] They don't even know it.
[00:25:27] I will talk.
[00:25:27] I'm going to save it for the book corner who the alleged parentage is for both Ulf and Hard Hugh, Hugh the Hammer.
[00:25:35] So I'll save that there.
[00:25:37] And more thoughts of Jace's thoughts on this from the book is also different.
[00:25:41] So I'll save that for the book corner as well.
[00:25:44] But like, yeah, I get it.
[00:25:47] You know, it's just insecurity.
[00:25:49] He's just mad that he has to fight for his claim.
[00:25:53] I think that's the problem.
[00:25:54] Yeah.
[00:25:54] He should be insecure, though.
[00:25:56] I think that Rhaenyra is walking proof that he should be insecure because she had every claim because Vizzie T said she did until Alicent went and had those white-haired babies.
[00:26:03] The moment Aegon and Aemond showed up, people were like, well, hold on, Rhaenyra.
[00:26:07] Because had Vizzie T not gone and got potential other heirs, Rhaenyra would have been the only option.
[00:26:13] And so I just think that Jace is looking at his mom and thinking, this is a cautionary tale.
[00:26:17] This is literally what happened to you, and I won't stand for it.
[00:26:19] But Latonya.
[00:26:20] But it's also not because they're hair, but because they were men.
[00:26:23] Yeah, that too, right?
[00:26:25] And so if you want to discriminate against him for being men versus her being a woman, if the people want to discriminate you for having dark hair, they will.
[00:26:31] I just feel like Jace is not.
[00:26:33] Like, it's insecurities, but I don't think it's, like, unfounded.
[00:26:35] I really think that he should be talking to his mom about what the potential ramifications of this is.
[00:26:40] But she knows she needs somebody to ride the dragon.
[00:26:44] And Latonya, she gonna do whatever it takes to get somebody on the dragons.
[00:26:48] Yeah, I really like what they're doing with Elinda being kind of like the messenger in King's Landing for all of the small folk.
[00:26:58] Like, I feel like Rhaenyra is definitely winning that part of the war.
[00:27:03] Like, it's really strategic of her to start a Whisker campaign, essentially.
[00:27:09] And to send them, like, Uber Eats was great.
[00:27:16] And so I just, I'm scared because the most conspicuous thing you could do while telling secrets is wear a red cloak.
[00:27:29] So I'm kind of worried about her getting caught.
[00:27:33] But it seems like all the people that are guards, like, because they're just paid to be there.
[00:27:37] They're not loyal to the people that are being paid.
[00:27:40] So they're like, okay, yeah, sure, spread this news.
[00:27:42] So it's really interesting that when we get all of these people in King's Landing, like, so many of them head to these boats after hearing the news.
[00:27:53] Like, they kind of close off their private lives and then, like, go to get on a boat to either claim a dragon or die.
[00:28:00] That shows how desperate the situation is for the small folk.
[00:28:03] Yes, very that.
[00:28:05] It's the desperation for the small folk because they're being starved by Rhaenyra.
[00:28:09] But also...
[00:28:11] The queen!
[00:28:13] Remember that Rhaenyra was a celebrated princess in that city all of her life.
[00:28:20] Like, Alicent and her mutts of sons came later.
[00:28:25] You know what I'm saying?
[00:28:26] Rhaenyra was the realm's delight for the longest.
[00:28:29] Those small folk in King's Landing are the ones who know her the best because she's been amongst them the most as opposed to, like, those people farther out in the Riverlands, the Reach, and, like, above the Neck and stuff like that.
[00:28:44] So, and, like Latonya said, it has been a targeted campaign by her mistress of Whistler-Verts to get the people.
[00:28:53] Like, they are technically losing the battle of winning some of the high houses.
[00:28:59] They've only won a couple, and then they've lost a few in the war.
[00:29:03] But they are winning the battle of the small folk's heart.
[00:29:06] And those are the people who you're going to need.
[00:29:09] And I think it was...
[00:29:12] Was it Viserys who said that in season one?
[00:29:15] Because that was the main thing in season one when her and Damon went out that night and they saw the play and they were trying to figure out who's going to be the heir.
[00:29:23] And at first she was like...
[00:29:25] It was Damon who said that.
[00:29:26] At first she was like, who cares about the small folk?
[00:29:28] And he's like, you need the small folk to rule.
[00:29:30] And this is what she's doing.
[00:29:31] I thought this was great.
[00:29:33] It's so funny because before the season started, the girl with the red cloak, everybody's like, oh, is this old Melisandre?
[00:29:40] Is this a red witch?
[00:29:42] Nah, it's just a girl in a red cloak, you know?
[00:29:44] Spreading the Targaryen.
[00:29:46] Like, yeah, she's a messenger.
[00:29:48] And I love this.
[00:29:49] This was so cool.
[00:29:50] And yeah, the guards, the gold cloaks have no loyalty to the Hightowers.
[00:29:54] We know that because, again, we know that it was Damon Targaryen who founded the gold cloaks, who founded the City Watch, who gave them those gold cloaks.
[00:30:05] So even though Otto and Alicent and the Greens think they rooted out, you know, any supporters among the gold cloaks, I mean, it's real easy to be like, Damon, who?
[00:30:17] What? No, girl, huh?
[00:30:20] Team Green, you know what I'm saying?
[00:30:22] Yeah.
[00:30:23] Anything to keep your head from getting chopped off or from getting burned by a dragon.
[00:30:27] I'm like, yeah, whatever y'all say.
[00:30:29] Come on, filthy.
[00:30:29] Whatever.
[00:30:30] Vendene.
[00:30:30] Oh, yeah.
[00:30:30] All that good stuff.
[00:30:32] Here's my deal.
[00:30:33] Yeah, I do find it fascinating.
[00:30:36] Rhaenyra may have seemingly forgotten the lessons of Damon because although she knows she needs to win the small folks, keeping the small folks is going to be interesting when they find out all the shenanigans Rhaenyra's been behind.
[00:30:46] Because she low-key don't care about them at all.
[00:30:49] She's gotten to the point where this claim for the throne is so important to her that she does not care who dies.
[00:30:54] In the meantime, you know, we saw that with the dragon roundup here, she's like, hey, some of y'all are going to die, and that sucks.
[00:31:00] But you could go back to being hungry.
[00:31:03] I'm the one making you hungry.
[00:31:04] Or you could go back to starving.
[00:31:08] It's me who's starving you.
[00:31:09] Or you could get on this dragon.
[00:31:13] It could kill you.
[00:31:14] It's my dragon.
[00:31:15] It could kill you.
[00:31:16] But remember, I have to be the queen.
[00:31:18] You know, so I'm really fascinated at watching Rhaenyra because she's playing the right game.
[00:31:22] She's definitely taking the small folk away from the high towers.
[00:31:26] I don't even know if you can say the high towers are in charge anymore.
[00:31:28] I don't even know who's in charge.
[00:31:29] Eamon's in charge, I guess.
[00:31:32] But you're taking the small folk away from them or whatever.
[00:31:36] But at some points, I'm like, Rhaenyra, at what cost?
[00:31:38] At what cost?
[00:31:39] There's all this war.
[00:31:41] They signed the waiver.
[00:31:42] They did.
[00:31:44] They really did.
[00:31:46] Fair game.
[00:31:47] Fair game.
[00:31:48] Yeah.
[00:31:48] They knew that there would be some death.
[00:31:51] Uh-huh.
[00:31:52] You know?
[00:31:53] Causing all of it.
[00:31:55] Right, yeah.
[00:31:55] She's causing all of it.
[00:31:57] But, you know.
[00:31:57] It's above Rhaenyra now.
[00:31:59] She's giving it to the gods.
[00:32:01] It's above her.
[00:32:03] Yeah.
[00:32:03] These ain't the same gods that I've heard of.
[00:32:05] These ain't the gods.
[00:32:06] I have yet to see this woman pray.
[00:32:07] You know?
[00:32:08] So, it's like, I've been doing a lot of work for this lady.
[00:32:10] And she does not seem like a godly woman.
[00:32:11] She was just praying the other episodes.
[00:32:13] She was a nun and everything.
[00:32:15] Yeah.
[00:32:16] She's so strict.
[00:32:17] Yeah.
[00:32:18] She was pretending.
[00:32:19] That lady fake.
[00:32:20] That lady fake being a nun so that she can be the queen.
[00:32:23] I'm just saying.
[00:32:24] This lady's up about it.
[00:32:25] The vibes ain't vibing, y'all.
[00:32:26] I really liked how the sewing looked, too.
[00:32:29] Like, at first, I was like, this isn't what I imagined.
[00:32:31] Because, like, as you're reading it, I did imagine, like, maybe, like, a big open field.
[00:32:35] And people burning like that.
[00:32:38] But I thought that it was interesting that it started off on that same little plinth that we saw Sir Darkmeat Darkland get roasted on.
[00:32:47] And then, like, then they all, like, fell.
[00:32:50] And then they were running around like that.
[00:32:52] And I was like, oh, this is it.
[00:32:54] That was so cool.
[00:32:55] That visual of Vermithor just walking around chomping people with the fire while he was just, like, ducking and dodging.
[00:33:04] It was great.
[00:33:05] Honestly, it was great.
[00:33:06] And the after show talking about, like, you know, there's no real reason why.
[00:33:12] We can't know why a dragon picks its rider.
[00:33:15] That's what it says.
[00:33:15] It's lost to history.
[00:33:16] It's whatever.
[00:33:17] It's the bond between the dragon and the rider.
[00:33:19] So to see a hard hue here just be like, all right, man, let's go to the Bronze Fury.
[00:33:25] Because also, Rhaenyra didn't teach them no type of a lady or anything.
[00:33:31] No, not a single word.
[00:33:33] I'll let him do the talking.
[00:33:35] And left.
[00:33:36] She literally said, I think Vermithor is just going to talk to y'all for a second.
[00:33:40] Y'all did.
[00:33:40] It was like, it was at an entrance meeting.
[00:33:41] Like, you don't have any questions.
[00:33:42] And then she ran off.
[00:33:44] Like, she was like, all right.
[00:33:50] I was like, not a Dohyrus?
[00:33:52] Like, Dohyrus.
[00:33:53] I was like, call, call, please.
[00:33:57] Lakiri.
[00:33:57] Lakiri.
[00:33:58] Like, I'm becoming fluent in High Valerian.
[00:34:02] Me too.
[00:34:02] I'm telling you right now.
[00:34:03] I am going to learn that language.
[00:34:06] I only know the words that can save me from the dragon.
[00:34:08] Calm, please.
[00:34:10] There's no word for peace.
[00:34:11] Listen, flee.
[00:34:12] I learned flee tonight.
[00:34:14] You know, like, there's a few of them.
[00:34:15] But, Mara, you mentioned that the dragon keepers.
[00:34:18] What are their names?
[00:34:19] The people who are wrangling the dragons?
[00:34:21] I think that's just what they're called.
[00:34:23] Just the dragon keepers.
[00:34:24] And they, yeah.
[00:34:26] They're like a religious order.
[00:34:28] They're like akin to like your, okay.
[00:34:31] It's not like a religious order like the Silent Sisters or the Septas and Septins.
[00:34:36] But it's like, it is like the order like the White Cloaks and the Maesters.
[00:34:43] They're like Dragon Maesters.
[00:34:44] The Night Watch.
[00:34:45] Yeah, exactly.
[00:34:46] They are specifically like this is their order.
[00:34:50] And they, like we saw, they believe the dragons are the gods.
[00:34:53] You know what I'm saying?
[00:34:53] Because that's another thing.
[00:34:54] That's their thought process.
[00:34:55] Only dragon lords can write dragons.
[00:34:57] That's why it's still a blasphemous thing for you to just put these bastards on it.
[00:35:02] And they were like, yeah, no, we're out.
[00:35:04] I love them so much.
[00:35:06] I love them so much.
[00:35:07] Because they were like, I see you playing with God.
[00:35:09] I don't like it.
[00:35:09] We finna go.
[00:35:10] Because not only is this blasphemous, right?
[00:35:12] If these are the gods and you got the random, random stray bastards rolling up trying to get on them,
[00:35:17] you wilding.
[00:35:18] That's crazy.
[00:35:19] Also, a lot of these people are about to die.
[00:35:21] Maybe all of them.
[00:35:22] We don't want to be a part of that.
[00:35:23] And then on top of that, the last time you did this, a couple of our own died.
[00:35:27] Oh, Rhaenyra, I'm not signing up to be walking each of these people up here.
[00:35:33] There's two dragons.
[00:35:34] It's at least 50 bastards.
[00:35:37] The odds are not in my favor that I'm going to make it out of this one just as a dragon keeper.
[00:35:41] Latonya, am I tripping?
[00:35:44] I can understand why they decided not to participate in this.
[00:35:48] Because Vermithor did turn into Godzilla.
[00:35:52] Like, yeah, out of nowhere.
[00:35:53] Where he went from, like, being Lakiri and, like, Dohyrus and, like, letting her put a hand on his head to being like, okay, now let's have some fun.
[00:36:04] And it was just, like, blood sport for him.
[00:36:07] He was like, I haven't done this in a while.
[00:36:09] This will be great.
[00:36:11] Which makes him a perfect match for Vhagar.
[00:36:13] So I'm excited for that.
[00:36:15] Yeah, that's going to be fun.
[00:36:16] He wasn't even just burning everybody.
[00:36:18] He started to eat people.
[00:36:20] Like, he really had his time.
[00:36:21] I mean, knock some people off the little platform or whatever.
[00:36:24] And, like, if he's going to pick Hugh, there's a good chance that Hugh just dies in the fray of all of that.
[00:36:28] I mean, he got really lucky that he didn't murder the one bastard.
[00:36:31] Yeah, unaccident.
[00:36:33] That was worthy of him.
[00:36:36] But it was a fun scene.
[00:36:38] I'll give Rhaenyra some credit.
[00:36:39] She's got some style.
[00:36:40] Because her walking up to Vermithor.
[00:36:42] Like, this ain't my dragon.
[00:36:43] But he know who Mama is.
[00:36:44] You know, touching it.
[00:36:46] Turning her back to it.
[00:36:47] Like, all right.
[00:36:48] I'm finna go.
[00:36:49] Y'all do y'all.
[00:36:50] Be back.
[00:36:51] Y'all take it easy.
[00:36:52] Yeah.
[00:36:53] And just leave it.
[00:36:54] Like, to turn your back on those big-ass teeth, you got to have, I mean, Lady Balls of Steel.
[00:36:59] That lady was up there like, yeah, yeah, what's up?
[00:37:02] I got this.
[00:37:03] And so I was like, okay, cool.
[00:37:04] But everybody else should have been very concerned.
[00:37:06] Because they got massacred.
[00:37:08] There was so much death in this episode.
[00:37:11] These people were just getting burned left and right, Mari.
[00:37:12] It was so good.
[00:37:13] It was so good.
[00:37:14] But I like the, this was shot so well.
[00:37:17] In low light, but not too low a light.
[00:37:22] Damn it, sir.
[00:37:22] Yeah.
[00:37:23] Yeah.
[00:37:24] So I really, really like this.
[00:37:26] Like I said, Hugh and Vermithor bonding was great.
[00:37:31] And then I was like, so are we not getting Ulf in Silver Ring?
[00:37:36] And then it cuts to Ulf.
[00:37:37] He's running because Ulf is all of us.
[00:37:40] He's me and I am him.
[00:37:42] Yeah.
[00:37:43] He is me.
[00:37:43] We're getting lost while running away.
[00:37:47] He took that torch and he's like, I am out of here.
[00:37:50] And he tried to get out of the dragon mount.
[00:37:51] Because if those, for those who don't know, they're in the dragon mount on Dragonstone.
[00:37:56] It's basically the lairs of all the dragons.
[00:37:58] Like we only seen two tonight, but there are another.
[00:38:01] Like that's where Seasmoke resides.
[00:38:05] You know, the cannibals, sheep stealer and the wild dragons are not in the lair portion of the dragon mount.
[00:38:12] But it's all kind of like one big dragon lair.
[00:38:15] So they like to have different sections and shit.
[00:38:16] So like, so like normally there's like a shit ton of dragons in there.
[00:38:22] But Ulf is just like running to get out.
[00:38:25] And he runs, he's running to get out.
[00:38:26] And we see him step into like the egg nest, which we saw in season one when Damon was collecting eggs.
[00:38:33] And Silverwing, who is a she dragon, who does produce clutches of eggs, was like, did you just step in my clutch?
[00:38:42] Yeah.
[00:38:44] And what they said in the after episode, which made sense to me at first.
[00:38:48] Because at first I'm like, I know Ulf's not going to do some brave stuff like this.
[00:38:51] So, you know, why?
[00:38:54] Silverwing, like Wardog pointed out last week, Silverwing was the mount of good Queen Alysanne.
[00:39:02] But good Queen Alysanne is, again, at this point is the greatest queen of Westeros.
[00:39:07] She helped so many of the small people, the small folk.
[00:39:11] She brought like, they talked about how she went to the wall and gave them the gift.
[00:39:16] Her and her husband built the king's road, all that to connect the country together and stuff like that.
[00:39:24] And she was like one of the most gentlest queens.
[00:39:27] And so they felt like her dragon was one of the most gentle ones.
[00:39:31] Silverwing is notoriously the dragon that flew towards the wall and would not fly past it.
[00:39:38] She was like, nah.
[00:39:41] So, what they said in the after show is like Ulf really was just like, oh, I'm done.
[00:39:47] And he just, what's the word?
[00:39:51] Submit it.
[00:39:52] Yeah, yeah.
[00:39:52] In Animal Kingdom, like he just submitted.
[00:39:57] The actor said he was like, I'm just going to die here.
[00:40:00] It's fine.
[00:40:01] But his submission and his deference to Silverwing is what makes her like bend her neck to him.
[00:40:09] And I loved that.
[00:40:10] I really did.
[00:40:12] Yeah.
[00:40:13] I had seen a lot of conversation about how, oh, what was Darkling's big mistake in choosing the, in getting the dragon to choose?
[00:40:20] And I was like, well, first of all, you know, you don't, I don't think there's any rhyme or reason.
[00:40:23] Like you've been saying, Mari, the people are saying, you know, there's nothing you can do.
[00:40:28] The dragon chooses you.
[00:40:29] You know, we saw the dragon chase down Adam, you know, chased him down.
[00:40:34] He, he, we'll get to that in a second.
[00:40:36] But, you know, and so for Darkling to stand up there, people were saying, well, he hesitated.
[00:40:40] I was like, nah, I really thought he was very brave for even being able to just walk up there like that.
[00:40:44] Like if that's hesitation, then I don't think there's anything else that anybody can do.
[00:40:48] Hell, we even saw Hugh the Hammer running for his life for at least 10 minutes of this whole, this whole dragon sewing thing before he finally stands up and says,
[00:40:58] okay, just take me or choose me one or the other.
[00:41:01] So I really did like that off just kind of trips and falls into Silverwing and Silverwing, instead of completely like trying to eat him or burning him,
[00:41:11] he just knocks him over.
[00:41:13] Like, all right, I think he good.
[00:41:14] This will, this will work.
[00:41:15] This will work for me.
[00:41:16] I ain't flown in a little bit.
[00:41:17] So I think I found my new favorite dragon, Mari.
[00:41:19] I think Silverwing's my one.
[00:41:21] Silverwing, yeah.
[00:41:22] Yeah.
[00:41:23] She's awesome.
[00:41:24] So I, I get that.
[00:41:26] And, and she's supposed to be very beautiful.
[00:41:28] They have like three dragons that are like the same kind of like pale, pale greenish, pale bluish.
[00:41:34] So it's going to be really cool next week when we, when we see, uh, Tessarion who is like bright ass blue.
[00:41:41] And if you saw the scenes of the next episode, but yeah.
[00:41:45] Yeah.
[00:41:46] So this was great.
[00:41:46] The sewing was great.
[00:41:47] I don't, I don't think I can say anything else about the sewing.
[00:41:51] Rhaenyra, Rhaenyra is ridiculous.
[00:41:54] Oh, but we can't talk about, um, like all of a sudden they're like dragon, dragon, dragon and King's Landing.
[00:42:01] And Ulf is riding over King's Landing.
[00:42:04] I was like, what the fuck is this?
[00:42:06] Yeah.
[00:42:06] Latonya, would you trust Ulf the drunk with your dragon?
[00:42:11] Because, um, I don't know if you should be drinking and driving on a, on a dragon.
[00:42:16] I feel like Aegon showed us that that is a bad idea.
[00:42:20] Um, Aegon the current, I'll call him because there's so many.
[00:42:27] Um, oh my God, he looks terrible, but we can talk about that later.
[00:42:30] We love, um, yes, it's weird.
[00:42:35] Um, but like, Ulf just like almost falling off, like flying around King's Landing, not really knowing how to control the dragon at all, but just kind of enjoying the ride was, was really great.
[00:42:52] And it was cool to see, um, like Aemon turn away from a fight essentially.
[00:43:00] Cause he was just like, oh, this is not the dragon that I was expecting.
[00:43:04] Okay.
[00:43:05] Uh, I guess we'll deal with this at a different time.
[00:43:08] Yeah.
[00:43:09] Yeah.
[00:43:09] He really, he thought he did his big one.
[00:43:11] He like rode his horse to his dragon and was just like, I'm going to go take care of this.
[00:43:16] And then we'll see.
[00:43:17] Begard is still parked out back.
[00:43:19] Yeah.
[00:43:20] Yeah.
[00:43:20] What's going on?
[00:43:21] All right.
[00:43:22] Big mama.
[00:43:23] Yeah.
[00:43:24] Oh, like I feel most of the time the dragons are just like yapping and complaining about having to like leave the dragon mount or wherever it is.
[00:43:34] Like, yeah.
[00:43:35] Shut up shop.
[00:43:36] Damn.
[00:43:36] I guess.
[00:43:37] Like the appliances on the flint bones.
[00:43:40] Science and Seasmoke both seemed over it.
[00:43:43] They were just like, why are we here?
[00:43:45] Do we have to do this?
[00:43:47] Yeah.
[00:43:48] Anything that involves, like anything that involves more dragons, I am here for it.
[00:43:52] So for it.
[00:43:53] Yeah, exactly.
[00:43:53] Like this is definitely one of those episodes you go back and forth.
[00:43:56] It's like people like me who, like, I know all the political stuff and I like the political stuff.
[00:44:02] I'm here to see the fucking dragons.
[00:44:03] So I like, so I like the dragon episode, you know, exactly.
[00:44:08] And then, you know, Paul likes the political stuff.
[00:44:11] Taryn and Grace have that type of dynamic over on, we know, scripted TV.
[00:44:16] Great.
[00:44:16] You know, but like, I, I love this.
[00:44:20] And, but it, I was, at first I was like, what is he doing?
[00:44:22] Stupid.
[00:44:23] And then, but for him to go back to Dragonstone and like, I was sitting there wondering, I was like, was this like kind of like a trap or was this like Rainier would be like, yeah.
[00:44:32] Yeah.
[00:44:33] Look, look, yeah, yeah.
[00:44:35] Gang gang.
[00:44:36] Gang gang.
[00:44:36] To show like, oh, look what we got.
[00:44:38] And Aemon being like, oh, okay.
[00:44:40] All right.
[00:44:41] Wait, let's hold on and turn around.
[00:44:43] Like he finally did something smart and not brash.
[00:44:46] I love that.
[00:44:48] And then the ending scene of, we see Rainier with Cyrax next to her Vermithor and over her shoulder.
[00:44:55] And then we saw like Silverwing in the back.
[00:44:58] That's the, that's exactly the image me, you and Wardark said, maybe it'll end for two episodes from now.
[00:45:04] So now next week episode, Chappelle, I'm telling you right now, I don't know what the fuck we're about to watch because they have so much stuff that they could get into and not enough time.
[00:45:17] Like why they did eight episodes is so stupid.
[00:45:19] It's wild.
[00:45:19] So, but before, but I want to do talk, I do want to talk about what Tanya said, because we, the opening scene, we have Rainier confronting Adam of Hull.
[00:45:34] Cyrax over her shoulder, Seasmoke over his shoulder.
[00:45:38] Remember, these are two dragons that like were once connected by their writers because that's, that's Rainier's, that's, that's Laenor's old dragon.
[00:45:45] That's her husband's old dragon.
[00:45:47] You know what I'm saying?
[00:45:47] Like, so this scene was really good because I even felt at one moment as Rainier is talking to Adam, like, who are you?
[00:45:56] And when he fully stands up and he shows her, his face to her, I felt like, like Emma, Emma Darcy did a great job here when they like, it looked like she, like Rainier was trying, like saw the resemblance.
[00:46:11] Was that just me reading into it?
[00:46:13] It looked like she's kind of like, when she looked at him, she was like, like she was taking it back.
[00:46:17] Like Coralus?
[00:46:18] Yeah.
[00:46:19] She was like, she recognized.
[00:46:20] She asked his parentage before she asked his name.
[00:46:23] Exactly.
[00:46:23] And she immediately, she did that look and she immediately asked about his parentage.
[00:46:28] So.
[00:46:29] Yeah.
[00:46:32] That is definitely a breakout thing.
[00:46:33] Yeah.
[00:46:35] At the, at the family reunion.
[00:46:37] Jesus.
[00:46:37] Uh-huh.
[00:46:38] And, and that scene was really great because she was like, somebody's riding this dragon.
[00:46:43] I need them to be on my side.
[00:46:45] And for him to immediately bend the knees, I know she was like, oh, something finally easy around here.
[00:46:50] Right.
[00:46:51] Yeah.
[00:46:52] What did you think of that scene?
[00:46:53] She looked shocked.
[00:46:53] She was just like, well, okay, then.
[00:46:57] Great.
[00:46:57] Great.
[00:46:58] Yeah.
[00:46:59] You know how to get to a dragon stone?
[00:47:02] Well, it was funny to me because she kind of came in and I'm like, and how dare you ride a Targaryen dragon?
[00:47:08] He was like, look at this.
[00:47:10] What's that?
[00:47:13] And she's like, oh, okay, cool.
[00:47:16] Where are you, daddy?
[00:47:17] He's like, I don't know.
[00:47:18] All right.
[00:47:19] Can you get into dragon stones?
[00:47:20] I think I can.
[00:47:21] All right.
[00:47:21] See you soon.
[00:47:22] See you soon.
[00:47:23] Welcome to the crew.
[00:47:24] You know, it really don't take much.
[00:47:25] The onboarding was very fast.
[00:47:26] But yeah, that's the one dragon that joins her ranks outside of the sewing.
[00:47:33] We also will get the other side of that coin where Corliss is also informed that there's a dragon rider walking around here with his face.
[00:47:42] And Mari, what did you think about this interaction with Corliss and his son?
[00:47:48] His son.
[00:47:49] I was sitting here like, Corliss, tell them.
[00:47:53] Tell them.
[00:47:54] I was so mad that he wasn't telling them.
[00:47:57] But him being kind of like peckish with him.
[00:48:01] The fact that his son was like, can I leave to go fly dragons?
[00:48:05] Like, I know.
[00:48:06] Like, I'm right.
[00:48:08] Exactly.
[00:48:09] Because he's an employee at this point.
[00:48:11] He's not his son.
[00:48:12] And he's like, oh, yeah, you can have leave.
[00:48:13] Yeah.
[00:48:14] Also, well done.
[00:48:16] Like, it's like the most basic ass father stuff.
[00:48:20] Like father coded so fast.
[00:48:22] Everybody in this show, though, is.
[00:48:25] Like, this show has the show of bad fathers.
[00:48:28] Yeah.
[00:48:29] Yeah.
[00:48:30] Just terrible.
[00:48:32] Like, Otto Hightower?
[00:48:33] My God.
[00:48:34] The worst.
[00:48:36] Where is he?
[00:48:37] Where is he?
[00:48:38] Come on, Otto.
[00:48:39] Where you at, man?
[00:48:40] We sent for Otto last time.
[00:48:41] He's delayed show.
[00:48:42] Back up.
[00:48:43] This is ghetto.
[00:48:43] Come on home, Otto.
[00:48:44] Yeah.
[00:48:46] Yeah.
[00:48:46] So Corliss talks to Adam very briefly.
[00:48:49] He's like, yeah, you can have time off to go fight for, you know, whatever.
[00:48:53] And then he goes and talks to Alan.
[00:48:55] And he's like, so I got a task for you.
[00:48:59] You know, the queen said, if you could just help me out here with this one little project,
[00:49:03] I need you to go and send for the bastards.
[00:49:06] Although, just so you know, our people don't really ride dragons like that.
[00:49:11] So don't get crazy.
[00:49:13] Your brother, he ride dragons because I don't really know his, I don't know your mama like
[00:49:16] that.
[00:49:17] Your mama must have had some of that in her, but that's not us.
[00:49:19] And Alan says, oh, you ain't got to worry about me.
[00:49:22] I'm going to see baby.
[00:49:23] Like he does the opposite of what Raina does where she tells, was it Bela or Raina?
[00:49:27] Bela.
[00:49:27] Where she says, I'm not really into the whole water thing.
[00:49:31] I don't need to be her heir.
[00:49:32] I'm flying a dragon.
[00:49:33] Yeah.
[00:49:34] Alan says, make no mistake.
[00:49:35] Keep the dragons away from me.
[00:49:36] I'll be on the boat.
[00:49:37] Thanks.
[00:49:37] Yeah.
[00:49:38] To me, it wasn't like, it wasn't, it was more like Corliss is like your brother claimed
[00:49:42] a dragon.
[00:49:43] I guess if you want to go claim a dragon, you can.
[00:49:45] You want to do that too?
[00:49:47] Yeah.
[00:49:48] It's not for me.
[00:49:49] Yeah.
[00:49:49] Yeah.
[00:49:49] So you could be like your dear old dad, Latonya.
[00:49:52] Don't you want to hop on a boat like your daddy?
[00:49:54] Yeah.
[00:49:55] Like, um, Hey, no, we haven't talked very much.
[00:49:59] I am acknowledging that I am your father now.
[00:50:03] I just wanted you to know that.
[00:50:05] It's just like the, the most awkward, like these are played so well.
[00:50:10] Like first we get, we get the barbershop conversation, which is the blackest thing that's ever happened
[00:50:15] in the history of house of the dragon or game of Thrones between the brothers.
[00:50:19] And then we get these two scenes with Corliss and his sons and he's just useless and like
[00:50:27] every possible way, but he's still standing like, you know, shoulders back, chest up,
[00:50:32] like hand the queen pin on like, okay, now we're like really doing this.
[00:50:38] Like, I guess I will honor my wife's wishes and acknowledge my sons.
[00:50:44] Yeah.
[00:50:45] So it's a weird dynamic.
[00:50:47] But when Alan said like, I'm a salt and sea, he was like, okay.
[00:50:52] All right.
[00:50:53] Yeah.
[00:50:53] So you might be all right, little boy.
[00:50:55] You might be all right.
[00:50:55] I have reason to be proud of both of you, I guess.
[00:50:58] And you also saved my life.
[00:51:00] So yeah.
[00:51:01] You should have been proud.
[00:51:03] You should have been proud.
[00:51:04] Yeah.
[00:51:05] The other dragon that is MIA currently and potential dragon rider that we keep kind of
[00:51:11] tiptoeing around is Raina.
[00:51:13] We see her leaving the veil and then going over to where, you know, this burnt up grass
[00:51:19] and sheep are just kind of like the little sheep graveyard we've seen from, obviously been
[00:51:23] attacked by a dragon.
[00:51:24] As we talked about with the war dog, that dragon does have a name.
[00:51:27] We've yet to see that dragon, Mari.
[00:51:29] How much longer are we going to have Raina tiptoeing around this thing?
[00:51:32] At this point, just get on the dragon.
[00:51:34] Where is it at?
[00:51:35] Bring it to us.
[00:51:36] I know.
[00:51:36] I think there was like too much dragons in this one.
[00:51:40] They're like, our VFX is done.
[00:51:44] So, I mean, I don't know.
[00:51:47] You know, maybe by next episode, like I'm so confused with what this, like I keep telling
[00:51:53] you, I'm so confused what this timeline is going to look like.
[00:51:58] So, like I have no clue.
[00:52:00] And the scenes that they showed for next week, I'm like, this is all over the place.
[00:52:05] This was all over the place.
[00:52:08] So, maybe next week.
[00:52:10] I don't know.
[00:52:11] The timeline is something that I guess I should stop down and complain about just a little
[00:52:15] bit.
[00:52:16] Latonya, you talk about this every week with Rich on your podcast.
[00:52:20] Have y'all discussed exactly how far, say when, how far is Dragonstone from King's Landing?
[00:52:26] Because the stuff that they be pulling off, you know, the Uber Eats, the Hordash or whatever
[00:52:31] they did last episode happened like overnight.
[00:52:34] They get the, the bastards all get the, the message gets around the city to the bastards.
[00:52:39] The bastards get on the boat all in one night and back to Dragonstone all while Alicent is
[00:52:43] just camping.
[00:52:45] How long was this, how long did this take?
[00:52:49] Well, the way that I think about it, knowing nothing about the geography of Westeros, is
[00:52:56] that Dragonstone was kind of like the weekend retreat for the Targaryens.
[00:53:01] So, they weren't too far away from King's Landing and they could very easily access it by dragon.
[00:53:08] And I guess also ship.
[00:53:10] Both.
[00:53:11] Regular both as well.
[00:53:12] I'm guessing that they aren't too far away from each other.
[00:53:17] So, I'd say like here-ish.
[00:53:18] I know this answer.
[00:53:20] Okay.
[00:53:21] You know where I'm coming.
[00:53:22] You know where I'm coming.
[00:53:23] I didn't want her to get in the weeds too much.
[00:53:25] Yeah.
[00:53:26] So, a YouTuber actually took the length of the wall.
[00:53:30] He, he, he did like a map, you know, a cartography thing.
[00:53:33] He took the length of the wall, which is like 6,000 miles or something like that.
[00:53:38] And he, he like took that.
[00:53:42] He then put it on Dragonstone and King's Landing.
[00:53:45] And so, I believe what he ended up coming up with is that dragon, from Dragonstone to King's Landing
[00:53:50] is about 4,000 miles away, which is the equivalent of from LA to San Francisco or from Boston to DC
[00:54:00] or from, I believe, Miami to Tallahassee, Florida.
[00:54:07] So, think of stuff like that.
[00:54:10] Like, what is it?
[00:54:11] What is the flight from LA to San Francisco?
[00:54:14] Like an hour and a half or something like that?
[00:54:16] Yeah.
[00:54:16] It is.
[00:54:17] Yeah.
[00:54:17] I've done that.
[00:54:18] So, yeah.
[00:54:19] And, and from Boston to DC, about the same.
[00:54:22] Yeah.
[00:54:22] Yeah.
[00:54:22] So, that's how close slash far away they are from.
[00:54:26] But on, but on a boat, a rowboat.
[00:54:31] I mean, the rowboats were to bigger boats though.
[00:54:36] I think the bigger boats were parked further out.
[00:54:39] So.
[00:54:39] Okay.
[00:54:40] Yeah.
[00:54:40] So, like a cruise line.
[00:54:41] So, like say a cruise.
[00:54:43] If you cruise from.
[00:54:44] But even these, even the bigger boats are still, still rowboats essentially.
[00:54:49] They're sailboats, right?
[00:54:50] There's no motors here.
[00:54:51] Yeah.
[00:54:52] But it's still like, you're sailing as winds and sailboats.
[00:54:56] They're being led by the finest nautical mind in existence.
[00:55:00] And more or less.
[00:55:00] Like he knows the time to leave.
[00:55:02] I'm thinking it's like at most a three day.
[00:55:04] A big ass engine.
[00:55:05] A three day.
[00:55:05] I'm thinking at most it's a three day Bahamas cruise.
[00:55:08] A three hour tour, maybe.
[00:55:10] I'm thinking.
[00:55:11] Look, crazier things have happened on a three hour tour, LaTanya.
[00:55:14] I'm just saying.
[00:55:15] The only reason I ask is because while all of this is happening, Allison has taken a hiatus.
[00:55:20] She's like, I want to go outside.
[00:55:22] Come on, Rickard.
[00:55:23] Let's go.
[00:55:24] They go out.
[00:55:25] She's riding a horse.
[00:55:26] She's camping.
[00:55:27] We see her spend at least one night out in the woods.
[00:55:29] She tells him, I don't even know when I'm going back out.
[00:55:31] She goes and she purifies herself in the waters of Lake Minnetonka.
[00:55:34] And then, then that's it.
[00:55:36] That's all.
[00:55:37] So while all of this is happening, Allison is just out.
[00:55:39] She's kicking it.
[00:55:40] And I'm thinking, was this a week?
[00:55:42] Was this two weeks?
[00:55:43] Nah.
[00:55:43] How did they pull this off so quickly?
[00:55:46] Nah, Allison isn't just, she's just in the Kingswood.
[00:55:48] So that's like.
[00:55:49] She ain't even that far.
[00:55:51] She's, yeah.
[00:55:51] She's like literally in their backyard, basically.
[00:55:54] She's in the reserve Kingswood, which is like, uh, like the wood that is protected and preserved
[00:56:01] for the King to go hunting.
[00:56:02] It's right out.
[00:56:03] It's right out back.
[00:56:04] She's right out back.
[00:56:04] But she's there for two weeks because there's just, in my mind, there's no way that you
[00:56:09] get all this back and forth across this water, uh, all these whispers and stuff like that
[00:56:14] out.
[00:56:14] The recruiting, the, the sewing, all this stuff done.
[00:56:17] And all she did was go in the backyard for a day or two.
[00:56:20] I was like, ma'am, something, the timeline is really doing me off now, Latonya.
[00:56:24] What she did was go into a different show.
[00:56:27] Yeah.
[00:56:29] Whenever, whenever the Allison scenes came up, I was like, oh, okay.
[00:56:33] This is kind of like, um, the prelude to a horror movie that takes place in the woods.
[00:56:40] Got it.
[00:56:40] Like this is completely different than everything else that's going on in this show.
[00:56:46] And the cinematography is even vastly different.
[00:56:49] Like we are in nature.
[00:56:51] It is jarring sometimes to go to her scenes.
[00:56:54] I don't even know why they did it.
[00:56:56] Yeah.
[00:56:56] That, it was very random to be like, we just need to get Allison out the way.
[00:56:59] Let's send her on a camping trip.
[00:57:01] Uh, cause she just goes in the backyard.
[00:57:03] Yeah.
[00:57:03] She, yeah, she did.
[00:57:04] She, she, she cleansed herself.
[00:57:06] That was cool.
[00:57:07] For a second, I thought maybe her, uh, and Sir Ricard was about to do a little something
[00:57:10] about my brother out there in the woods.
[00:57:12] I thought, cause I was like, girl, what else you got going on for us?
[00:57:14] She ain't got no man.
[00:57:15] I was like, well, see what you see what can happen.
[00:57:17] You know, what else you doing?
[00:57:18] Um, but they didn't do nothing with her.
[00:57:20] They literally did nothing.
[00:57:21] She just got out the way and we made room for all this other dragon stuff to go on.
[00:57:26] So when she gets back, I'm sure she will be shocked and not so pleasantly surprised
[00:57:29] at what happens.
[00:57:31] Um, because, uh, Eamon will have to report back at some point what's going on.
[00:57:35] And, uh, yeah, this whole sewing of the, of the dragons thing is probably not going to
[00:57:39] go over too well.
[00:57:40] But that's her role now.
[00:57:42] Like she's been stripped of every official like duty and has been told to go tend to
[00:57:50] domestic pursuits, whatever that means.
[00:57:54] I've never seen Alison do a domestic pursuit in the entirety of the show.
[00:57:59] She used to keep that baby.
[00:58:01] She used to remember.
[00:58:02] She used to be walking around carrying the baby.
[00:58:04] Yeah.
[00:58:04] Yeah.
[00:58:05] Like maybe immediately went back to the wet nurse whenever she was out from around people.
[00:58:10] Uh, um, yeah.
[00:58:13] So speaking of, uh, Eamon, we find out that there's some good news for Eamon though.
[00:58:17] He has a brother who might be ready to ride soon.
[00:58:20] Uh, Mari, we've been waiting on him.
[00:58:21] Where is Daeron?
[00:58:22] Daeron?
[00:58:24] Daeron?
[00:58:25] Yeah.
[00:58:26] Daeron.
[00:58:27] Daeron?
[00:58:27] Daeron?
[00:58:27] You know, him and Tessarion doing some like test circles and stuff.
[00:58:32] They, they on their way.
[00:58:33] What's his dragon's name?
[00:58:35] Tessarion.
[00:58:36] Oh wow.
[00:58:37] The blue queen.
[00:58:38] Oh, there's probably a lot of kids named that in a little while.
[00:58:41] Yeah.
[00:58:42] Oh yeah.
[00:58:42] What?
[00:58:43] What?
[00:58:44] I see.
[00:58:44] I thought Maylise Alize was a cute baby name.
[00:58:47] You know, after the dragon.
[00:58:48] Latonya, what you think about it?
[00:58:50] It was sad when I saw it on the obituary.
[00:58:52] I was just like.
[00:58:52] Yeah, that took me out.
[00:58:53] It's the Alize that gets it every time.
[00:58:55] Yeah, but it, Ray Nies might be another one that pop up in a few years.
[00:58:59] As an educator, I can already tell.
[00:59:01] I'm going to be taking a role one day and I'm going to just look up like this.
[00:59:06] Ray Nies.
[00:59:07] Ray Nies.
[00:59:12] I had three Kais in my camp this last couple of weeks.
[00:59:18] There were three children named Kai.
[00:59:21] We said the name Kai taking attendance and three people raised their hands.
[00:59:25] So we had to give them different names.
[00:59:28] We had a Just Kai.
[00:59:30] We had a God Kai.
[00:59:32] And then we had Kai Marie, whose full name was Kai Marie.
[00:59:36] So I feel like that needs to be done with the Agons in this universe.
[00:59:40] Like people need to differentiate them in some way so that certain people don't make mistakes
[00:59:45] and look stupid later.
[00:59:48] First and middle name would work as well.
[00:59:50] I think that'd be another good way to kind of keep these people separate.
[00:59:53] We haven't talked about Maseria enough in this episode yet.
[00:59:56] She seemed to have some philosophical differences with Ray Nier in this one.
[01:00:01] She's like, are you sure this is how you want to move?
[01:00:03] Is this what we're doing?
[01:00:05] But she is the one.
[01:00:06] She gave her the idea.
[01:00:08] Yeah.
[01:00:08] I mean, she gave her the idea about the bastards.
[01:00:11] But they really did have a sit down conversation about like, what's the direction we're going
[01:00:15] here?
[01:00:16] Because, you know, the people, the lowborns are who we're bringing in now.
[01:00:19] She's one of the first people kind of flagged there.
[01:00:21] Like the small people, the small folks, they're not dragon riders.
[01:00:25] They're not, there's not really their realm normally.
[01:00:27] You know, she's the one who gets the ball rolling on it.
[01:00:29] But I like that Maseria is kind of the de facto hand of the queen instead of Corlys,
[01:00:34] which I really haven't seen Corlys doing any handing.
[01:00:36] He feels like a figurehead to me, Latoya.
[01:00:38] What do you think?
[01:00:39] Oh.
[01:00:40] I mean, yes.
[01:00:44] I mean, he kind of is a figurehead.
[01:00:46] Like he's the Lord of the Tides.
[01:00:48] And you've seen like in previous episodes, there is a notable, noticeable shift among
[01:00:53] the men of the Black Council whenever he enters the room.
[01:00:58] Exactly.
[01:00:58] So like he commands authority because of what he has done and who he is.
[01:01:03] And that is why he is in that position.
[01:01:06] I like the idea of Maseria though, as the master of whispers, because I mean, she's really
[01:01:13] good at it.
[01:01:13] She has a large network of people who are like easily indoctrinated as well, because they're
[01:01:20] so malcontent from everything that's been happening with like the Aegon Aemon administration.
[01:01:27] And, you know, there are all I mean, she even suggested in the last episode where she was
[01:01:33] just like, surely there are more people who could be appropriate for this.
[01:01:37] And she's just like, maybe it's time to like get off your high dragon and like realize that
[01:01:45] the small folk could actually help you in more ways than one.
[01:01:49] Yeah.
[01:01:50] Yeah.
[01:01:51] Because it does feel like, you know, Rhaenyra's whole thing was, you know, like, well, dang,
[01:01:54] we tried Darkling and, you know, he was, he, you know, he was worthy of the honor of the,
[01:01:58] of this thing.
[01:01:59] Maseria is like, bro, honor ain't gonna get you nowhere.
[01:02:02] You're like, are your, your half brothers, are they honorable?
[01:02:04] What are they doing?
[01:02:05] You know what I'm saying?
[01:02:05] Like you got to get down and dirty.
[01:02:07] And Mario, I think that's what you were saying where this is, Maseria is the one who gets
[01:02:10] this thing popping.
[01:02:11] Yeah, she does.
[01:02:12] She's the one who, who reminds her that like, our games have bastards all over the place
[01:02:18] here.
[01:02:19] So like, um, I, Corliss, we saw Corliss in this episode be the hand.
[01:02:26] He, he, he walked in the room.
[01:02:27] They're like, oh, there's a guy on a dragon.
[01:02:29] What are we going to do?
[01:02:30] We should do this.
[01:02:31] We should do that.
[01:02:31] Corliss said, we're going to listen to the queen.
[01:02:33] And they're all like, okay, you're right.
[01:02:36] You're right.
[01:02:37] You're right.
[01:02:37] So he, so he is doing his hand duties and wrangling those, those Lords on the small council.
[01:02:44] And I think Maseria is doing her duty as the mistress of whispers and being able to bring
[01:02:49] several different, um, you know, uh, different points of view to, uh, Rhaenyra.
[01:02:57] My biggest thing is you're, you're the mistress of whispers and stuff, but y'all still don't
[01:03:03] know what Damon doing out there in the riverlands.
[01:03:04] And where is Alfred Broom?
[01:03:07] That nigga left three episodes ago.
[01:03:10] You still ain't, you still ain't get to Harrenhal.
[01:03:13] The guy.
[01:03:14] Oh, the guy that Rhaenyra sent to be like.
[01:03:17] Yeah.
[01:03:18] Um, yeah.
[01:03:19] Well, she look, apparently Harrenhal's further than King's Landing is because damn, you could
[01:03:25] get to Dragonstone and King's Landing back and forth eight times.
[01:03:28] She didn't sit the Uber Eats over there.
[01:03:30] She didn't sit the back for the bastards.
[01:03:31] Sit them back.
[01:03:32] This man still ain't made it to Harrenhal.
[01:03:33] What is, is he walking?
[01:03:35] He on foot.
[01:03:36] He walking.
[01:03:36] He ain't got no horse.
[01:03:37] He ain't giving nothing.
[01:03:38] Yeah.
[01:03:39] He ain't giving us out of here.
[01:03:41] Yeah.
[01:03:42] So like, can we talk about, uh, the fact that Damon Targaryen got humbled by a 12 year
[01:03:48] old?
[01:03:49] First of all, don't ever disrespect Oscar Tully like that again.
[01:03:53] Okay.
[01:03:53] Not a 12 year old.
[01:03:54] The 12 year old.
[01:03:55] The, the, that man said, oh, okay.
[01:03:57] Hold on.
[01:03:58] Yeah.
[01:03:59] In a world of Leanna more months.
[01:04:01] I don't know if he's one of them.
[01:04:03] He's one of them.
[01:04:04] Okay.
[01:04:04] She, she is her, but he is him because make no mistake.
[01:04:08] Damon, Damon hit her with the, uh, he called him.
[01:04:10] He's like, oh yeah.
[01:04:11] Prince.
[01:04:12] Uh, and he said, oh no, you mean King.
[01:04:14] You might want to watch your tongue.
[01:04:15] And he said, he stepped up to David and said, listen to me.
[01:04:18] Do you want, do you want our help or not?
[01:04:20] Do you?
[01:04:20] Okay.
[01:04:21] So who, who's your daddy?
[01:04:22] Who, who's your daddy?
[01:04:23] Say it.
[01:04:23] Say it to me.
[01:04:24] Say it.
[01:04:28] Damon looked at Willem and said, Willem, Hey, all these people are really upset with
[01:04:32] you and your war crimes.
[01:04:33] And Damon says, you sent him to do it.
[01:04:36] You go handle it.
[01:04:37] And Damon didn't, he did not even take a breath.
[01:04:42] He went over there and immediately, immediately punished Willem for his war crimes.
[01:04:47] Chopped him right up.
[01:04:48] Squat, slice.
[01:04:49] Done.
[01:04:50] And now Damon has the loyalty of the Riverlands, uh, and Oscar Tully and all this other stuff
[01:04:57] just because he, he finally had to atone for his sins.
[01:04:59] And poor Willem was the, the fall person.
[01:05:01] Mari, I'm not, I'm not gonna lie.
[01:05:03] This was, this was my favorite part of the entire episode.
[01:05:05] I was enjoying all of this.
[01:05:07] I was literally sitting here like Damon Turgent cannot be any worse of a leader.
[01:05:15] Like the way he talked to Oscar when he first got in there, like you said, like you rightfully
[01:05:20] pointed out, I'm like, why are you bad at this?
[01:05:22] Because then when he went out there and they just kept sunning him left and right until
[01:05:26] he finally was like, all right, this kid, this kid cool.
[01:05:29] Okay.
[01:05:30] Y'all got, I, my bad.
[01:05:32] I'm sorry.
[01:05:33] I didn't mean the war crimes.
[01:05:34] I'm sorry.
[01:05:37] But immediately as I was happening, I was like, oh, poor Willem.
[01:05:40] I knew exactly what was about to happen.
[01:05:41] I was like, uh, RIP to big daddy Willie, who, uh, was, was a G from, from 10 when he killed
[01:05:50] that Bracken in Rhaenyra's, uh, while courting Rhaenyra back in the day.
[01:05:55] But Willem was like, all right, uh, your grace, tell him, let me go.
[01:06:00] Yeah.
[01:06:01] Natripp King.
[01:06:03] Natripp King.
[01:06:04] Talk to him.
[01:06:04] Talk to him, man.
[01:06:05] That was hard to watch.
[01:06:07] What you doing, man?
[01:06:08] What you doing?
[01:06:08] Yeah.
[01:06:09] Get off me.
[01:06:09] Get off.
[01:06:10] Yeah.
[01:06:10] No, no.
[01:06:12] Damon, Damon was like, yeah, Damon had to dispatch him because he didn't want to hear it either.
[01:06:17] I thought this, this was perfect.
[01:06:20] I love this scene.
[01:06:21] I was like, finally, at least some payoff in the Heron Hall because I was really like,
[01:06:25] how are they going to get out of this with the Rivermen mad?
[01:06:28] He's pissing off Tully.
[01:06:30] I was so confused.
[01:06:32] That's when I thought Alfred Broome was going to like walk his ass up and be like, oh, but
[01:06:35] remember Queen Rhaenyra and they'd be like, oh yeah, we like the queen.
[01:06:38] Oh yeah.
[01:06:39] We like the queen.
[01:06:40] Yeah.
[01:06:40] But I thought this was, this was so masterful.
[01:06:43] Tully kind of walking him into that.
[01:06:45] It almost felt like a trap for Damon in a sense.
[01:06:50] But I, I, as much as I liked Willem Blackwood, I was like, this is, this is fitting.
[01:06:56] Yeah.
[01:06:56] I love this.
[01:06:57] Yeah.
[01:06:58] Yeah.
[01:06:59] The children, you know, like, come on.
[01:07:02] Yeah.
[01:07:03] Yeah.
[01:07:03] In a, in another world, Willem was once Oscar, you know, uh, when he was a little one, you
[01:07:07] know, not to be messed with.
[01:07:09] And so Oscar, like, yeah, I'm next up.
[01:07:11] I really enjoyed this because for me, Damon has always been the reason why it's been so
[01:07:15] easy for me to be team green.
[01:07:16] You know, like for me, I've always been like, y'all act like team black is like a, this righteous
[01:07:21] source of like, well, you gotta be tripping.
[01:07:23] If you take, I'm like, do y'all see what Damon out here doing?
[01:07:26] I mean, killing babies, the war crimes, all this kind of stuff.
[01:07:28] And everybody actually like, just get played deaf.
[01:07:30] When I started talking about Damon, I was like, well, he loves Rhaenyra.
[01:07:33] Does he like every chance this man gets, he keeps bringing up that he's the king.
[01:07:37] He don't, he never, he rarely talks about Rhaenyra as the queen ever.
[01:07:40] He's always like, I'm the king.
[01:07:42] I say that you do this, you know?
[01:07:44] And so, so watching Damon get humbled, it really did feel good.
[01:07:48] I start to feel that slight pull over to team black a little bit.
[01:07:51] I was like, well, if Oscar Tully go in, I might, I might see what y'all talk about.
[01:07:56] Yeah.
[01:07:57] Like, um,
[01:08:00] the facial expressions that Matt Smith makes, like, he's like a meat dog.
[01:08:05] Like we've never seen Damon like this before.
[01:08:09] Um, and it's really humbling to see it.
[01:08:12] I just, like, you can't mess with a 400 year old witch.
[01:08:20] Yeah.
[01:08:21] You just can't.
[01:08:22] And her ass wasn't even in this episode.
[01:08:24] Where the hell is Alice Rivers?
[01:08:25] She the one who killed the old Tully.
[01:08:27] I guess she had to get out of the way.
[01:08:29] Mm-hmm.
[01:08:29] And then to have, to end this scene off with Viserys sitting on the bed, all decrepit,
[01:08:35] talking about the crown, asking Damon if he wanted the crown.
[01:08:39] I love this.
[01:08:39] I was like, okay, finally the dreams, like all the dreams of Viserys.
[01:08:43] I'm like, okay, we're finally like, you know, soothing his ego, his id.
[01:08:48] You know, it's finally like, he's asking himself those questions.
[01:08:53] Like, was all of this worth it?
[01:08:55] I like this.
[01:08:56] I really liked it.
[01:08:57] And then find out that this was Patti Constantine's idea.
[01:09:00] Like, they, they asked him to come back to do the scene.
[01:09:03] And he was like, well, if I'm going to do the scene, I want to do it in the decrepit makeup.
[01:09:07] And they were like, oh, snap.
[01:09:08] Oh.
[01:09:09] Mm-hmm.
[01:09:10] Yeah.
[01:09:10] I love Viserys in this role as the, the moral compass, because although he's saying this
[01:09:16] stuff to Damon, it could apply to literally everybody.
[01:09:19] Everybody is willing to do some disgusting things to get this crown.
[01:09:23] And he's like, I didn't even want the thing or the pain.
[01:09:26] And it crushes whoever wears it.
[01:09:28] He didn't say, it's going to crush you, Damon.
[01:09:29] I mean, it will crush Damon.
[01:09:31] It'll crush Aegon.
[01:09:31] It'll crush Aemon.
[01:09:33] It'll crush Rhaenyra.
[01:09:34] It's going to crush Daenerys.
[01:09:35] It's, you know, it's going to crush whoever wants it this bad.
[01:09:38] Whoever wants it.
[01:09:39] Exactly.
[01:09:40] And a lot of people want it.
[01:09:42] And eventually, I think a lot of people are going to get crushed.
[01:09:45] We know that to be true.
[01:09:46] So I really did love seeing Vizzy T back again.
[01:09:50] But Latonya, you brought him up earlier.
[01:09:52] We got Vizzy T at home.
[01:09:53] Aegon, he looking a little Vizzy T-ish.
[01:09:59] I hate that this show is written so well that it makes me feel sympathy for
[01:10:07] people that I don't want to feel sympathy for.
[01:10:09] I do not like Aegon.
[01:10:11] He is like a noted sexual assaulter and just all around terrible idiot of a person.
[01:10:19] Yeah.
[01:10:19] But like, I have experienced having to learn to walk again.
[01:10:24] And it is as hard as they make it look.
[01:10:28] Like, it is just one of those things that you have to try at doing.
[01:10:32] I really like this idea.
[01:10:34] It's so weird because I feel like,
[01:10:36] for the last two seasons,
[01:10:37] this show has been trying to make Lara Strong happen.
[01:10:40] And he just hasn't happened.
[01:10:43] But like, he found out that he wasn't going to be able to worm his way into like Aegon's
[01:10:48] or sorry, Eamon's good graces.
[01:10:50] So he was like, okay, I guess I'll put all my lot in with this decrepit, torn up moron.
[01:10:57] And he's like, he's like, in charge now of physical therapy.
[01:11:03] Like how often the maester does all of this.
[01:11:06] And it's just, it's really interesting to see Laris use what he has had to learn throughout
[01:11:15] his life from his disability as a means of taking power.
[01:11:20] That's a really interesting way to like write a character.
[01:11:23] That makes me a little intrigued to see what Laris and Aegon are going to get up to.
[01:11:30] Yeah.
[01:11:30] Yeah.
[01:11:30] Because word gets to Laris that the bastards are, you know, are collecting dragons now.
[01:11:37] And so we see him get that whisper and he kind of is like, all right, keep that to yourself.
[01:11:42] I'll handle that.
[01:11:43] No worries.
[01:11:43] I don't think he believed it.
[01:11:45] Yeah.
[01:11:45] He was like, yeah, that sounds crazy.
[01:11:47] That sounds, that sounds wild.
[01:11:48] But then we see him that, like you said, he's in charge of the physical therapy because
[01:11:53] one, he's somebody who was struggled with some of this walking.
[01:11:56] I'm sure it's been tough for him at one point or another.
[01:11:58] But also Aegon is his ticket to power.
[01:12:01] And he's like, I got to get him out of bed.
[01:12:03] I got to get him up and running because even if the bastard thing is true, we're going to
[01:12:08] need him.
[01:12:08] We're going to need him.
[01:12:10] We're going to need his other dragon that we have not seen.
[01:12:13] We still haven't got a time of death on, is it Syraxas?
[01:12:17] What's the dragon name?
[01:12:19] Sunfire.
[01:12:20] Sunfire.
[01:12:20] Sunfire.
[01:12:21] Yeah.
[01:12:21] We still don't have a time of death on Sunfire.
[01:12:23] So I'm assuming that, you know, Aegon would still be assigned to him.
[01:12:27] And so I was like, yeah, we're going to need Aegon because he is the real king currently.
[01:12:32] You know, our Prince Consort is on the throne.
[01:12:35] But we got, yeah, Prince Regent, I guess that's just going to right.
[01:12:39] Yeah.
[01:12:39] Yeah.
[01:12:40] Prince Regent is on the throne.
[01:12:41] But we got to get him up and running.
[01:12:43] And so we see him and the maester trying to really push Aegon to walking.
[01:12:48] And I don't know.
[01:12:50] Aegon looks like he don't borrow time.
[01:12:52] It looks like Larys is wasting his time.
[01:12:54] I don't think they're going to be able to force this Larys thing to happen.
[01:12:57] Yeah.
[01:12:57] I mean, but Larys has no other recourse.
[01:13:01] Like this is his only opportunity.
[01:13:03] And Aegon's not going to get better just laying in bed, drinking milk with the pop.
[01:13:08] Yeah.
[01:13:10] You know, he has to get up.
[01:13:11] He has to rehab as anybody knows.
[01:13:13] So Larys is like, I'm going to make Aegon happen.
[01:13:16] I am going to make sure that he doesn't waste away on this bed.
[01:13:20] And you know what I'm saying?
[01:13:21] So it makes sense to me.
[01:13:24] It makes sense.
[01:13:24] And like Latonya said, I want to see where this goes.
[01:13:29] Because he has to do this quickly.
[01:13:30] Because as we know, people have sent for Otto Hightower.
[01:13:33] We've yet to see Otto.
[01:13:35] But we know he has been sent for wherever he is.
[01:13:38] He's coming back.
[01:13:38] And once he comes back, he will be the hand to Aemon.
[01:13:42] And so if Otto gets his grips back into Aemon, I don't think there's going to be anything that Larys can do to fix that without Aegon being up and running.
[01:13:52] So he's definitely going to have to move quickly.
[01:13:54] But it doesn't look good.
[01:13:55] Mari, is there anything else we missed in this episode?
[01:13:59] No.
[01:13:59] I think we got everything.
[01:14:02] Yep.
[01:14:02] Yes.
[01:14:03] So since we got everything, Latonya, anything you want to flag up?
[01:14:08] I just want to point out Kurt Ejiovan, I think is his name, who plays Maester Orwell.
[01:14:15] Oh, yeah.
[01:14:16] He has been doing a really great job this season of just kind of like being everyone's confidant accidentally.
[01:14:25] But also just being really good at his job because it's kind of an unprecedented injury that he's helping Aegon to recover from.
[01:14:34] And he's still alive somehow.
[01:14:36] Yeah.
[01:14:37] Yeah.
[01:14:38] Yeah.
[01:14:38] Yeah.
[01:14:38] So it's been really interesting to see his character arc and like to just see how smart he is, is really cool.
[01:14:48] He knows what he is.
[01:14:49] I liked a lot of the casting decisions that they've made, like when casting the Black characters in the show.
[01:14:56] Yeah.
[01:14:56] Yeah.
[01:14:57] Maester of mine is his own business.
[01:14:59] He's mastered it and I am very proud of him.
[01:15:01] Mari, we still got some book club to get into.
[01:15:04] Are you ready?
[01:15:05] I'm ready.
[01:15:06] Do the down before we get into it.
[01:15:09] Yeah.
[01:15:09] So if you...
[01:15:10] Bye bye.
[01:15:10] Yeah.
[01:15:11] Yeah.
[01:15:12] So if you are listening to this and you don't want to hear any spoilers or anything of that nature,
[01:15:15] we're about to tap into Maester Mari's book corner.
[01:15:18] And that's where we're going to talk about some of the way the book depicts some of the action from this episode.
[01:15:24] And so now is the time to tap out.
[01:15:26] We can catch you all here next week for more Hot D, The Westeros Kickback Season 2, Episode 8,
[01:15:31] the finale of House of Dragons Season 2.
[01:15:34] And you can also catch our other Recap Kickback content.
[01:15:37] Like I said, LaTanya and I had the Simone Biles documentary talk where we talked about the documentary and...
[01:15:43] Oh, well, the docuseries and the USA Gymnastics team.
[01:15:48] We're going to have more Olympics conversations, I'm sure.
[01:15:52] So make sure you tune into that.
[01:15:53] But there's plenty of other content on Recap Kickback.
[01:15:56] So go ahead and subscribe.
[01:15:57] And then we will catch you all next week if you want to tap out of the book corner.
[01:16:00] But if you are here to hear about the books, Maester Mari, take it away.
[01:16:05] All right.
[01:16:06] Some of the just the biggest departure from the book is Jace being mad about the dragon seeds in the books.
[01:16:12] It is his idea, just like how we saw, what was that, two episodes ago when he brought it up to his mom.
[01:16:19] So like it was his idea.
[01:16:21] He was the one who issued the proclamation.
[01:16:24] Any man or woman who can tame a dragon, you will become a lord and a lady.
[01:16:30] Estates will be visited upon you.
[01:16:31] And it's kind of him who builds a bastard army.
[01:16:35] He's the one who flies at the head of this new dragon battalion.
[01:16:40] So I actually like that they added this with him where he's trepidatious about it.
[01:16:48] Mm hmm.
[01:16:49] What do you think about that?
[01:16:51] Yeah, that makes sense.
[01:16:53] I mean, I like I like that it adds a little bit more flavor to Jace, you know, because the idea that you could just go give these dragons to anybody.
[01:17:00] It is a radical idea.
[01:17:01] You know, it is very extreme.
[01:17:03] It's not like like obviously it happens in the book.
[01:17:06] So everybody knew what was coming.
[01:17:07] It was very clear that the show was going in that direction.
[01:17:09] But it shouldn't be something that's taken lightly.
[01:17:11] You know, people are going to die.
[01:17:12] But then it's also a level of status that comes with these dragons.
[01:17:15] And, you know, like if you really think that the dragons are of the gods and a lot of people do, then it does seem to be blasphemous to just be handling and handing it to anybody.
[01:17:24] You know, and so I like that there was a lot of pushback against the idea that you can just do whatever you want with these dragons.
[01:17:31] You know, like they haven't been living life like that for this long, because if they had, there probably would have been another bastard dragon rider prior to this.
[01:17:38] You know, it's easy to gatekeep the dragons when you think that only certain people of a certain class, of a certain background, of a certain lineage all can ride them.
[01:17:48] But now you're saying, no, any drunk off from the bar who mama and daddy, you know, mama and daddy's backgrounds are questionable could potentially be a dragon rider.
[01:17:58] And I think that opens the world up to a lot other, like a lot more possibilities.
[01:18:01] And so I think that, yeah, having Jace be a one to bring that question up, especially with those parallels between his story and Rhaenyra's, I think that it made a lot of sense to me.
[01:18:09] What about you, LaTanya?
[01:18:11] Yeah, it made a lot of sense to me that he would throw a bit of a tantrum because he likes to do that.
[01:18:19] He's broody.
[01:18:20] You know, he's like very Jon Snow.
[01:18:21] He's at that age.
[01:18:22] Yeah.
[01:18:23] And so, you know, like the other funny thing about him is the internet's obsession with the fact that he's constantly, he seems to be constantly serving face.
[01:18:35] No matter like what the situation is.
[01:18:40] He said, where's my mother?
[01:18:42] I said, Jace.
[01:18:43] And he definitely inherited that from Rhaenyra.
[01:18:47] Like, they both just have like face-offs while they're having their little conversation.
[01:18:52] Why is Chappelle serving face?
[01:18:53] Chappelle, you're killing me.
[01:18:57] If y'all aren't watching the YouTube right now, I feel good.
[01:19:00] Because that's how he'd be looking the whole time.
[01:19:02] I said, Jace, why are you so bothered?
[01:19:04] Chappelle is doing blue steel for all the people.
[01:19:08] Jace is the most Zoolander character on this show and it's not even close.
[01:19:11] But that's a great point.
[01:19:12] I mean, serving face and complaining.
[01:19:14] That's all he can do.
[01:19:16] Yeah, I mean, he's done some good stuff.
[01:19:18] Like flying around and like getting the North and then like getting the Freys, who are the worst, together on his side.
[01:19:29] But yeah, I mean, it is interesting to see the dynamic of how this works and how he immediately takes it to the succession.
[01:19:37] And starts to question his mother from that point of view.
[01:19:40] I'm sure that his mind will change when he sees that, honestly, not that many people survived.
[01:19:47] Yeah.
[01:19:48] We got rid of a lot of bastards that could potentially make this claim.
[01:19:51] This was a good thing, Jace.
[01:19:54] I know he really cleared house, you know?
[01:19:58] No actual bastards were harmed in the making of this episode.
[01:20:01] Mari, what else was different in the book?
[01:20:03] So I want to talk about Ulf and Hugh's parentage.
[01:20:08] And pause.
[01:20:09] Can we talk about Hugh's kid as well?
[01:20:11] We didn't, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to yada yada, but the kid's dead.
[01:20:13] The kid's dead?
[01:20:14] The kid's dead.
[01:20:16] I know.
[01:20:17] It was just one line.
[01:20:19] Like, I couldn't save her.
[01:20:20] And I said, I sat up in the bed.
[01:20:21] I was like, what?
[01:20:23] And I was like, Jamie.
[01:20:23] I said, baby girl?
[01:20:24] Yeah.
[01:20:26] She's dead?
[01:20:28] Last time we saw her, she was just feverish.
[01:20:30] It was happening.
[01:20:32] People died, y'all.
[01:20:33] And it was a lineless character on House of the Dragon.
[01:20:36] It felt so bad for the mom because, like, she's like, I don't want to be a lady.
[01:20:42] Like, no shit, she doesn't want to be a lady anymore.
[01:20:44] Her head is dead.
[01:20:46] Like, she doesn't give a shit.
[01:20:47] I don't want to be a widow trying to be a lady.
[01:20:50] Your child dies.
[01:20:51] And then, like, a week later, your husband's like, I'm sorry, honey, but, like, I got the
[01:20:56] dragons are calling me.
[01:20:57] I gotta go claim a dragon.
[01:21:00] Like, get on board.
[01:21:02] And she's like, dude.
[01:21:04] But the kind of funny thing is, she's like, dog, let's just go to Tumbleton and see my
[01:21:08] brother.
[01:21:10] Spoiler alert.
[01:21:11] Tumbleton finessey a battle soon.
[01:21:14] So it's kind of like.
[01:21:15] He gonna be there with her without her.
[01:21:17] Tumbleton is just like.
[01:21:20] Tumbleton is just like.
[01:21:21] The first staging site for every Targaryen war.
[01:21:25] Because that's where Dany first lit him up.
[01:21:28] With, like, all the Lannister armies and everything.
[01:21:32] Tumbleton is just like.
[01:21:33] They.
[01:21:34] It's not good.
[01:21:35] So.
[01:21:36] And.
[01:21:37] Okay.
[01:21:37] Even more spoiler alert for, like, season three or four.
[01:21:40] It's like two battles in Tumbleton.
[01:21:45] Let's go to Tumbleton.
[01:21:46] He gonna be like.
[01:21:47] Remember that time you wanted to go to Tumbleton?
[01:21:48] Well, guess what?
[01:21:49] I'm going to Tumbleton.
[01:21:50] He's like, all right.
[01:21:52] Oh my God.
[01:21:54] So that's enough about his kid.
[01:21:56] RIP to the homie.
[01:21:57] What about his parents?
[01:21:58] Which one of these parents are Targaryen?
[01:21:59] Because they.
[01:22:00] He started to name drop some people.
[01:22:02] Okay.
[01:22:02] So.
[01:22:03] Again.
[01:22:04] Sir Darkmeet Darkland.
[01:22:05] And it was his great grandma's great grandma that was a Targaryen.
[01:22:10] Right?
[01:22:10] Allegedly.
[01:22:11] Allegedly.
[01:22:12] So.
[01:22:13] For all of this talk of, like, we don't know how the dragons choose their riders and stuff
[01:22:18] like that.
[01:22:19] It would seem that blood is, like, a major factor here.
[01:22:23] If what Hugh is saying is saying.
[01:22:26] So Hugh was basically saying he doesn't know who his father is, but his mother was Targaryen.
[01:22:32] And he talked about how she was, she worked in a pleasure house.
[01:22:36] And that he was just as, he was just as, as, as big or just as whatever as his, as her brother's
[01:22:48] sons, Viserys and Daemon.
[01:22:50] So what this, and this narrows it down.
[01:22:53] It feels like it doesn't because Viserys and Daemon's parents, right?
[01:23:01] So King Jaehaerys I and Queen Alisandre, they are, Jaehaerys is the one who has the big council,
[01:23:09] right?
[01:23:10] He had 11 children.
[01:23:12] Yeah.
[01:23:14] Yeah.
[01:23:14] Ballerina Farms?
[01:23:16] What are you just trying to do?
[01:23:17] Basically.
[01:23:18] So of those 11 kids, right?
[01:23:22] Lots of shit befell all of them because his reign was very long.
[01:23:26] But one of his kids' name is Seyra.
[01:23:30] Seyra.
[01:23:31] Or Seyra, but S-A-E-R-A, Seyra, Seyra, I said Seyra Targaryen.
[01:23:36] She is the ninth.
[01:23:37] I'm from the South.
[01:23:38] They say Seyra.
[01:23:39] Seyra, yeah.
[01:23:40] Seyra.
[01:23:41] Seyra.
[01:23:41] She's the ninth child and the fifth daughter of King Jaehaerys and Queen Alisandre.
[01:23:46] And because of that, she's kind of like, she wants the attention because it's just such
[01:23:51] a big family.
[01:23:51] And she's, she's known, she was known to be like a bold child from the get go.
[01:23:55] So, but basically she's, she's like, I'm not important.
[01:24:00] I'm the ninth child, fifth daughter.
[01:24:03] I'm not important.
[01:24:03] I'm just going to do what I want to do.
[01:24:05] Long story short, her and her friends, two of her girlfriends were messing around with
[01:24:12] three little lordlings.
[01:24:14] Like they was doing some things and she got sent to old town to be like a silent sister.
[01:24:20] But she was like, I ain't trying to do all this.
[01:24:22] So she escaped and she was gone.
[01:24:25] And they didn't know where she went for about like six months until she showed up in Liss,
[01:24:30] still wearing her scepter clothes and was in a pleasure house.
[01:24:35] And she becomes like a famous courtesan so much to the point where she's like ruling
[01:24:39] Liss at one point.
[01:24:41] Like she's, she's basically ruling there.
[01:24:44] And during the great council one-on-one, she actually sends three of her bastard sons
[01:24:49] to like make a claim for the throne.
[01:24:51] And they're like easily dismissed because Jaehaerys and Queen Alysanne, well not Queen
[01:24:57] Alysanne wanted to like go to her, but Jaehaerys basically disowns her.
[01:25:03] Um, and it, so what it seems like is she, that's all I was trying, I was saying like, if we pinpoint
[01:25:11] Hugh's age, if he's about 45, then it tracks that she may have had him, she may have had
[01:25:18] him before she went over to, to Liss.
[01:25:21] Like if she, she started out in a pleasure house, um, here, like in Russell Rose and King's
[01:25:27] Landing.
[01:25:27] And then she goes over to Liss and becomes a famous courtesan.
[01:25:31] So he's, he's saying that his, that his, uh, mom is Sarah Targaryen.
[01:25:38] Again, um, daughter of Jaehaerys and Alysanne, uh, sister to Baelon Targaryen, who is the
[01:25:47] Cerys and Daemon's, uh, father.
[01:25:50] So it's, it's a really big, so, so Hugh being accepted by Vermithor, it makes sense
[01:25:57] because like, that's basically.
[01:25:59] Grandmother's dragon.
[01:26:01] Exactly.
[01:26:02] Well, well, Vermithor, not from, not, not, uh, Queen Alysanne's dragon is silver wing.
[01:26:08] Oh, sorry, sorry.
[01:26:09] That would be his grandfather's dragon because the old king did ride Vermithor.
[01:26:15] So yeah.
[01:26:16] Gotcha.
[01:26:17] Exactly.
[01:26:17] Like the blood is right there.
[01:26:18] It's not like it's far away.
[01:26:21] That's basically, he was basically her uncle.
[01:26:25] It's Rainier's uncle.
[01:26:27] Yeah.
[01:26:28] Yeah.
[01:26:29] Because he's cousins with.
[01:26:30] He's cousins.
[01:26:31] Okay.
[01:26:32] So her cousin.
[01:26:33] Yeah.
[01:26:34] So a cousin.
[01:26:36] So yeah.
[01:26:36] Yeah.
[01:26:36] Okay.
[01:26:36] We would just call him an uncle.
[01:26:38] We would call him an uncle.
[01:26:39] Yeah.
[01:26:40] Yeah.
[01:26:40] For sure.
[01:26:41] All right.
[01:26:42] And tell me about Off the White.
[01:26:44] Who is he kin to?
[01:26:45] So Off said a few episodes ago that Balon the Brave was his father.
[01:26:52] Balon the Brave is the father of Viserys and Daemon.
[01:26:55] And Daemon.
[01:26:56] Right.
[01:26:56] Yeah.
[01:26:57] So that, so just straight up.
[01:26:58] And Balon was the one who rode, uh, Vhagar.
[01:27:01] From what I remember, Balon rode, uh, Vhagar, which is why it was very interesting that,
[01:27:06] uh, Aemon ends up riding, uh, Vhagar.
[01:27:08] Because people were like, oh, he stole that dragon.
[01:27:10] But I was like, well, that's his Pawpaw dragon, basically.
[01:27:13] Right?
[01:27:13] Or his great-grandpa's dragon.
[01:27:14] So it makes sense that he could be able to ride it.
[01:27:16] Balon did ride Vhagar along with his father, who was on Ramothor.
[01:27:21] Yeah.
[01:27:22] Look at that.
[01:27:22] Yeah.
[01:27:23] There you go.
[01:27:23] I'm getting it.
[01:27:24] Yeah.
[01:27:24] I'd be doing more research.
[01:27:26] Yeah.
[01:27:27] Yeah.
[01:27:27] Yeah.
[01:27:27] It's so hard to figure out which ones were, like, hatched their own dragons versus which
[01:27:31] ones claimed older dragons.
[01:27:33] But yes, so Balon, so Balon the Brave, who was Jaehaerys the first, like, that was his
[01:27:38] heir.
[01:27:39] That's who they thought was gonna pass the throne to.
[01:27:42] But with his death, that's where the great council came in.
[01:27:46] And so, uh, so, yeah.
[01:27:49] So Balon, uh, Viserys, he, he's the, the, the father of Viserys, Daemon, and supposedly
[01:27:58] Ulf the White.
[01:27:59] Now, when, when that could have happened, again, how old do we think Ulf is?
[01:28:07] Because, you know, Balon dies in 101 AC at the Great Council.
[01:28:14] That's 28 years before the sewing.
[01:28:18] So it couldn't have been that late.
[01:28:21] Mm-hmm.
[01:28:22] Uh, yeah.
[01:28:24] So, but anyways, so, so for all of this talk of, like, oh, you know, it could be anybody,
[01:28:30] you just need a drop of blood.
[01:28:32] These, both of the, both of these men are claiming, like, direct parentage to, like, very recent
[01:28:38] Targaryens.
[01:28:39] Like, it's, you know, so is, so does it just come down to blood?
[01:28:46] What would be the question?
[01:28:47] Mm-hmm.
[01:28:48] Well, I, that's why I found it interesting what Jace was doing, his complaining about,
[01:28:52] you know, is he legitimized with all these other bastards running around?
[01:28:54] Because let's say Rhaenyra does die.
[01:28:56] And then let's say Jace has an accident.
[01:28:58] And he dies.
[01:29:00] But you have Ulf the White saying, well, Balon, Balon is my daddy.
[01:29:05] What's up?
[01:29:06] Mm-hmm.
[01:29:07] Then what?
[01:29:07] What are you going to tell him?
[01:29:08] He flies in on his dragon, says Balon is his daddy.
[01:29:11] He has the white hair.
[01:29:11] And somebody says, you do kind of a favor.
[01:29:13] Then what do you do?
[01:29:14] You know what I'm saying?
[01:29:14] At that point, is anybody looking at, does Jace have any heirs?
[01:29:18] Or are they going to be like, well, we got a guy.
[01:29:21] And that might incentivize them to even get rid of Jace.
[01:29:24] You know, we saw that when Rhaenyra's claim started coming up.
[01:29:26] They would go to Allison and be like, you know, it incentivizes Allison to get rid of
[01:29:30] your kids.
[01:29:31] If you were, you know, if you have a potential heir, they can take the throne.
[01:29:35] I think that Jace is, I think that his paranoia, or at least his anxiety about this whole
[01:29:40] situation, I think when you outline it like that, with the blood being so close to these
[01:29:45] original writers, I think it's hard for you to be comfortable with something like this
[01:29:49] happening.
[01:29:50] Yep.
[01:29:51] It's not unfounded.
[01:29:52] So I completely agree with that.
[01:29:56] Mara, what else we got?
[01:29:57] Yeah.
[01:29:58] Nope.
[01:29:58] That is it for the book corner.
[01:30:01] They did an amazing job with the sewing.
[01:30:02] There's nothing else to talk about.
[01:30:03] We've talked about the sewing in like the last four book corners.
[01:30:07] So, yeah, I just, I, now that we got the, the, we got like Hart Hugh talking about his
[01:30:14] parentage here.
[01:30:15] I definitely wanted to touch on that.
[01:30:17] Cause Sarah's kind of like a tragic figure depending on how you, how you see it.
[01:30:24] If you think Viserys is a bad father, like Jhaerys is kind of like, his story is kind of up
[01:30:32] there too.
[01:30:33] Only because him and his wife like had so many kids and you know, they, they couldn't
[01:30:43] figure out what to do with them.
[01:30:45] They had so many kids and then they reigned for so long.
[01:30:49] They reigned for like 60 plus years.
[01:30:50] So it's like, you gave them absolutely nothing to do.
[01:30:54] So half of them just fucked about.
[01:30:56] Yeah.
[01:30:56] Sounds about right.
[01:30:57] It's kind of like, kind of like what happened in Queen Charlotte.
[01:31:00] Yeah.
[01:31:01] I'm done.
[01:31:02] I don't know.
[01:31:03] Latoya, anything you want to add for this episode before we wrap up?
[01:31:09] No, I don't think so.
[01:31:11] I, I am anxiously awaiting the finale because they have a lot of stuff to tie up.
[01:31:17] Me too.
[01:31:18] Exactly.
[01:31:19] In like 72 minutes of time.
[01:31:20] I believe it's the right time.
[01:31:22] Yeah, exactly.
[01:31:22] I have no idea what's going to happen.
[01:31:26] Will there be a battle of some sort?
[01:31:28] Because like, you know, Kristen and Gwaine went off a couple episodes ago and we have
[01:31:34] not seen them or what's going to happen with them.
[01:31:37] Like, I don't know what the resolution is going to be to this whole Heron Hall thing because
[01:31:43] Alice did say you will die in this place.
[01:31:49] Tend to believe her.
[01:31:51] Yeah.
[01:31:51] Yeah.
[01:31:52] Yeah.
[01:31:52] I'm just, I'm anxiously awaiting the finale.
[01:31:55] I do not know what is going to happen and that makes me happy.
[01:32:00] I'm very excited as well.
[01:32:01] I thought that this episode, like I said, it's not my favorite episode because there
[01:32:04] wasn't a lot of maneuvering, but there was a lot of dragging.
[01:32:07] And so I think a lot of people who've been waiting on that kind of content were fed.
[01:32:11] I think they gave us what we wanted to keep everybody quiet.
[01:32:13] We got the resolution at Heron Hall.
[01:32:15] We got the red, the red sewing.
[01:32:17] We see the bastards.
[01:32:18] We see the movement.
[01:32:19] Allison, nope.
[01:32:21] God knows what she's doing.
[01:32:22] But we have one more episode before we wrap this whole thing up and start to wait for
[01:32:28] season three, which will be years from now, probably knowing the pace that we go here
[01:32:33] on House of the Dragon and Game of Thrones.
[01:32:35] So until then, I guess we will have to bid you all farewell and let Latonya tell you where she can be found and where she's talking about House of the Dragon these days.
[01:32:44] Yeah.
[01:32:45] Find me at the Screen and Page pod with Rich talking every week about House of the Dragon.
[01:32:53] So there will be more of the Dragon.
[01:32:55] So there will be more of the same of this.
[01:32:57] Hopefully I will have developed more thoughts by the time we tomorrow happens and we do that podcast.
[01:33:03] You all are like wild for this.
[01:33:05] We're recording right after the episode airs.
[01:33:08] But like it's a it's a whole thing.
[01:33:11] But yeah, you can also find me back here talking about Simone Biles documentary on Netflix as well as general Olympic stuff.
[01:33:22] Because I think we're going to revisit the topic of the Olympics at the end of the week.
[01:33:28] Right.
[01:33:28] Yeah, we got to do it.
[01:33:29] We got to do something.
[01:33:30] We got to tap in every now and then because we got a lot of medals.
[01:33:32] A lot of medals have come across this U.S. stage already.
[01:33:36] And Latonya and I are dying to talk about them with somebody.
[01:33:38] So yeah, happy to have you back whenever you're ready.
[01:33:41] Okay, great.
[01:33:42] So yeah, follow me at LKStarks on Twitter to find out what I'm up to.

[01:34:53] So if you do love Big Brother, then definitely come check us out over on the Ram Has a Podcast YouTube page for the Roundtable.

[01:35:43] But if it's on Netflix, that's what we got coming your way.
[01:35:45] And so this week we had LaVena on as our special guest to talk about Dirty Pop, the story, the nefarious story of the boy bands of the 90s and early 2000s.
[01:35:56] And what it looks like when these boy bands are created as a cover-up for a Ponzi scheme.
[01:36:01] So check that out on the Nothing But Netflix podcast.
[01:36:04] And then, of course, Recap Kickback here, we have the Simone Biles conversation that LaTanya already alluded to.
[01:36:10] But we also had 40 Years of Purple Rain.
[01:36:13] That's right.
[01:36:13] Purple Rain was released 40 years ago.
[01:36:16] And so Camille and I dropped our recap of the movie and our conversation about one of the most iconic musicians of all time.
[01:36:23] That would be the purple one himself, Prince.
