[00:00:20] Hey, what's up fam and welcome back again to Recap Kickback presents HOTD The Westeros Kickback. That's right. It's Season 3 Episode 6 of House of the Dragon is over but we are back to recap the episode once again. I'm Chappelle your host and with me the maester herself with all the book knowledge in the world of Westeros it's Mari Forth. Mari, welcome back.
[00:00:44] We're back. I mean, I mean, come on now. Strong opening right strong opening. But I do have questions for the rest of the episode. Okay, okay, we'll get to that and more but first we have to we we made a promise we said that when the untimely death of the Greens own Kristen Cole happens.
[00:01:13] We would be bringing in this I guess the number one Kristen Cole hater on the planet. Be Camille AF. Welcome back. Thank you so much for having me. Yes, I got everything I wanted out of this episode in the first like five minutes. Full transparency for the people who are, you know, who are very entertained by the fact that we did bring Camille from the comments.
[00:01:39] You know Camille has done podcasting with us in the past, but I text her earlier and was like just in case we recorded this time just be on standby. She's like ours. I was about to text you and ask you the same thing. So she was ready for this. I know some of the fans were ready for this as well. And so we will talk about all of that and more. But first want to thank everybody for being here and checking out the podcast for following our House of the Dragon coverage and all the rest of the coverage that we do here on recap.
[00:02:07] Get back. We had the interview with the vampire coverage. The vampire list that is over and Mari good news. We found out at Comic-Con last weekend that Queen of the Damned is coming. We got the trailer, Mari. Bang, bang, bang. Yes. Teaser trailer technically, right? Teaser trailer. Teaser trailer.
[00:02:25] Yeah, because there was no new footage of this. They just very cleverly, you know, took what they already had from Queen Akasha and put it together with some like B-roll. But anyways, enough said about that. Thank God. We only had a sweat for about a week. Right. So I can I'm happy whenever it comes back. We will cover it.
[00:02:56] I'm just so happy. And I kind of like this name, even though it's confusing as I'll get out. I do like this naming convention of like going over to like the next name of the book and stuff like that. But so this is fun. This is fun. I'm so excited about that. Yeah, me too. Me too. Camille, you've been watching Interview with the Vampire. Did you are you finished with the whole season? No, I'm not caught up. Oh, OK.
[00:03:20] Yeah, because I'm trying to it's one of the ones I'm saving because I started watching season one and I started like putting the videos out for it. So it's one of the ones that's like on the back burner that I'll go back and watch it and then actually edit the videos and put them out. So I haven't gotten caught up yet. Yeah, Camille, promote your YouTube content or your Twitch content so people can see it. I am the sometime in this YouTuber on YouTube. But yeah, so I am covering House of the Dragon. My last video got taken down twice.
[00:03:50] So I still have that one to reedit. And then this new one. So I'm doing things. They'll come out eventually. But yeah, just sometimes. So that's why it's a good reason to subscribe because there's no rhyme or reason when I drop a video. Yep. Be like, well, and just fight the fight the appeal. That's what you're telling me. I've never fought one before. So I need to get away with it. Yeah, I need to try it. Yeah, we play with fire because sometimes they like to draw it out.
[00:04:18] You know, they'll give you two, three days before they're like, all right, we'll do it. They've denied me first. And then I re I like push even harder. And then I whatever, you know what I'm saying? So yeah, strongly recommend just giving it a shot and saying like, this is not for public. This is for this is commentary. You know, this is promotion. You put that in the notes and see what happens. So check out being Camille AF's YouTube content. Catch her on Twitch. You still on Twitch? No, no, no, no. Don't catch her on Twitch.
[00:04:47] Hopefully you can catch her here in the future doing more recap kickback content with. Me or Mari. Yes. Yes. I would be more available. Yes. And Mari, you know, I know this is a bad time to talk about it, but I don't know if you got that team green cup on you. I don't because I shipped it out to my customer because I am very quick, speedy, efficient. I do have team black who is kind of up yet down.
[00:05:15] But shout out to our listener, Alyssa, because she just put in a order as well for Allison. So yeah, I prioritize getting the workout to the customers more than having it to show on the thing. So we'll see.
[00:05:38] It might be out and gone and shipped out, but I will take some pictures of the Allison cup before I send it to Alyssa, as long as she's okay with that. But yeah, thank you guys for supporting. Bring it back up because I didn't say it. Please go to MariCardTooMuch.BigCartel.com in order to get your Tumblr. The team green ones all of a sudden. Flying off the shelves, ain't they?
[00:06:07] Everybody wants a team green cup all of a sudden. Flying off the shelves. I don't know. Team black, we got to come back, y'all. We got to come back. But if you are looking for something else, the Vampire of the Stat cups are still available. Still making those. I can make even more of those if you want. But if you don't see anything on the site that you want, you can always get your own custom Tumblr made. I can put anything on a cup.
[00:06:37] So again, thank you guys for your support. And like I said, if you caught it the last, what, two podcasts, recap kickback listeners. Get 10% off of their order by using the code RECAP. It's 10% off and a free gift. So make sure you use that code if you want your free gift and your 10% off. But thank you guys so much. It's been so fun making these cups for you guys. So yeah. Yeah, get your cup.
[00:07:05] I might have to get like one of each because my attitude is changing like most people towards seeing me a little bit. I'm undecided now. Like I feel like I need to throw some support the other way. You watch the episode and be like, oh no. You said I'm going to put my cup over there. You know what I'm saying? It used to be right here. I'm moving around how I feel. But yes, please go get one of Mari's cups. You know, it's so cool there. Everybody's buying them.
[00:07:35] They look really cool too. Now, at the end of every recap episode that we do for Hot D, the Westeros Kickback, we do have based on Mari's book corner where we will talk about a little bit of the book context around this. So if you're completely averse to spoilers, you know, maybe don't check that out. But it's not really spoilery. We just don't want, you know, you catching any content that you're actively avoiding. So stick around for that. In the meantime, we have to talk about this episode. And the reason why Camille is here.
[00:08:05] Kristen Cole. I was throwing Mardi Gras beads. I was, yes. I've been waiting on this one. You know what I think it is? I think it's because of, of course, my military background. And to see, like, I actually take those words somewhat seriously with the honor and the integrity and, like, doing the right thing. And so, like, hearing him talk the way that he did, especially last season, like, hit me personally.
[00:08:33] And on top of that, I try not to hold grudges in real life. So when there's a character on TV that I get to hate, like, openly and just be like, I hate this person. Like, all the hate just gets, you know what I'm saying? So it's not just Kristen Cole. It's a lot of people that I projected into Kristen Cole that I was. But, you know, I'm glad he didn't get to, like, go out and battle like he wanted to. He just got shot. It was like, okay, bye. Bye.
[00:09:01] They hit him with the sniper, the sniper bow and arrow from a distance. Yeah. So in this scene, Mari, is it Kristen Cole and his crew, the Greens, they run up on this. Looks like the Rivermen have been defeated. They're laying there and they can't figure out how, you know, because Kristen Cole's biggest concern is the dragons. He's like, all right, you know, the Rivermen are down, but something happened here. And we just don't know what it is. Come to find out. It is an ambush.
[00:09:28] They pop up out of their fake, you know, play possum. And, you know, they go to battle with Kristen Cole and crew. They probably get some licks in. They get a few people. But Kristen Cole's crew does come up victorious before you see this, what, the thousands and thousands of other soldiers show up. And we've been talking about this for episodes that, you know, Mari, that they are outnumbered by a lot. And this was very clear that they finally ran out of room.
[00:09:57] Yeah, exactly. Before I get to my explanations, was the death satisfying to you, too? Like, I think, Camille, you said it was very satisfying to you. He just goes out. How about you, Shikov? Well, because he wanted to go out in honor and glory. And it just didn't happen that way. But I would have loved to see him like, you know? Yeah. I didn't hate it.
[00:10:23] You know, as a team greener, you know, I have to kind of reconcile my feelings about Kristen Cole. Because, yeah, he's a despicable guy. But also, he's kind of, a lot of these people are victims as well, right? Like, so he kind of was a person who he had given his, you know, his honor. You know, that was, he was giving that to the crown, basically. And he basically got, you know, he got taken advantage of, kind of, both times.
[00:10:49] You know, I would say both of these very powerful women were able to use their leverage and their, you know, their position to have these relationships with him. You know, don't get me wrong. It's mutual, for sure. But at the same time, it's definitely forbidden, right? And so he shouldn't be able to do that. And they shouldn't be able to do it with him. So he kind of goes out on a limb with Rhaenyra. It doesn't work out. Then he goes out on a limb with Alicent. And she basically breaks his heart in half. So he hates Rhaenyra. He's in love with Alicent.
[00:11:15] And then in his last moments, all he has is, it's her handkerchief, right? Or these are her panty drawers, Mari. What was this? Right. It's the equivalent of her panty drawers. That's for sure. But it is her handkerchief. Yeah. And so his last seconds, I mean, I think the last thought he has is about Alicent before he's shot from a distance. So, you know, in a way, I guess he went out thinking about what he wanted to think about the most. You know, he kind of got to have that moment. But I don't know, Mari.
[00:11:46] I don't know. Like, I knew he had to die. But this felt fine. Yeah. No. I just wanted to ask just from a purely show standpoint. But this is definitely book accurate. This is great. And it's exactly that, Camille. I'm glad that that came across. Because that was exactly the sentiment. It's like, Kristen, you're not about to be a hero here. In fact, again. He's trying to be like Tupac, having him write songs about him and stuff. Right.
[00:12:17] Right. Right. Right. Yeah. Basically, he's trying to pull a Cleo from Set It Off, get out the car and get shot up. You know, I shot some of them, too. You didn't get none of us. We shot you. And then we took out your men. Yeah. Right. And that's the thing. And that's what I'm saying. Like, I struggle here at moments here because I'm like, I could just, I just want to add context to the thing. But I'm like, should I save it for the book corner? You know what I'm saying? Save it for the book corner. Make people come.
[00:12:46] People need to stick around for the book corner. You stick around to the end. Stick around. I will say, I thought this was great. I thought it's everything I can ever imagine. But I will complain about one thing. And it has basically kind of nothing to do about the book. Like, did this scene not feel out of place to you guys in like the rest of the episode? Yeah. Like, James pointed it out. And I definitely agreed with him.
[00:13:16] Like, who's editing these episodes? Who's deciding what goes where? Because like I said last week, which I was pissed off last week about the episode. He should have died at the end of last episode. It was so perfectly set up. It was so like, he was like, rah, rah. Let's go get him. We'll give everything in service of our king and da-da-da-da-da-da.
[00:13:44] And you're seeing his struggle last week. We're seeing them go through the mud and all of this. And then you don't give the payoff. We have to wait a week. And we come back directly to it. And I don't know. I feel like all of it was like the emotion is let off of it. Like, who is in the room deciding this?
[00:14:07] I think this would have been so much more just like gut punching if this had happened in the end of the episode. It had happened in the last episode. It didn't even need to happen at the end of the episode. Maybe. I don't know if they're like, oh, we have too many deaths. That happened at the end of so many episodes. And I know we talked about that last week, Chappelle.
[00:14:29] But it's just like, if you guys are going to sit here and try to nitpick whenever a major character dies, where it goes, it's going to be nonsensical. You know what I'm saying? And that's what it felt like here. This has nothing to do with the books. Because some people I saw a comment was like, oh, you're complaining about the books. This has nothing to do with books. This has everything to do with the editing and the pacing of the season.
[00:14:59] And I've had a problem with the editing and the pacing of the season since we found out and we knew that the first two episodes from this season were initially supposed to be the last two episodes of season two. And it has felt like such a hodgepodge since then. And this even more so.
[00:15:18] I don't think they understand that waiting a week after you've already had the emotional journey with the character, it lets all the air out of the death. At least to me. You know? If that makes sense. Am I alone here? Well, Camille, how do you feel as somebody who was waiting for this moment? How do you feel?
[00:15:45] So hearing you describe it, and again, because I don't know how it happens in the books, but hearing you describe it in a way, I feel like maybe it was intentional. Because the way I felt about it as soon as it was over, it was like, I've been waiting for it. I'm waiting for it. I'm waiting for it. And then we just moved on. You know what I'm saying? And that kind of, like I said, again, me just like knowing he wanted to go out in a blaze of glory and it didn't happen that way. And I was left feeling like, okay, well, okay, we're moving on now. You know what I'm saying?
[00:16:11] It's kind of like that's going to be my, like 10 years from now when we're doing a retrospective on House of the Dragon, how Kristen Cole died. And I'm going to remember that it just like, okay, he got shot and he didn't get his glory that he won't. You know what I'm saying? So maybe they did it at the beginning of the episode and just have us move on on purpose. You know what I'm saying? But I would have enjoyed it at the end of the last episode because I was braced. I was ready. I was, you know what I'm saying? He was doing his little speech. I would have loved if he died right after that.
[00:16:39] But I think maybe, like I said, hearing you describe it is intentional. But to also speak on what you said about editing, when I do my videos, there is a rhyme and a rhythm for how I edit the videos down and kind of like the chunks of what I do. And I can see the difference between last season and this season because there's a lot of exposition in the last couple of episodes. And then it's kind of like you're jumping from place to place where before when I could edit, it still felt like the complete episode.
[00:17:08] But now when I edit it, it kind of jumps a lot. So you're not noticing. I'm noticing it too, that the editing is weird this season. He really did try to go out in a blaze of glory. You know, there's a moment where he's telling. These are the Tully's. Yeah, this is Tully. And that is Roderick, the old wolf. Roderick, you're sure. So he's here. Yeah, I know you'll get to it.
[00:17:39] Roderick Dustin. Okay, so he looks at them both and he's like, fight me two on one. Like he was really writing the story in his own head. And like Kristen Cole fought for his queen's honor two on one. He took them both out. And then we had to get the army to jump him. They shut all that down. This lady with his bow and arrow just said, all right, shut that up. Yeah, which that was interesting too. Let me see. Never mind. Sorry, I'll save it for the book corner, y'all. I'll save it for the book corner.
[00:18:07] We have Damon with the small council and he is fed up. He's like, let's go burn it down. They have killed the gold cloaks. They killed my friend Luther. I don't like this. I've been telling you to send in the fire. You need to go rain hell on these people. And Rhaenyra, of course, still does not want to do that. She does not want to be known to be the queen that went in and burned all the people up to fight Ormond and the Hightowers.
[00:18:32] You know, you have Massaria in her normal situation where she's across the table from Damon, but also across from him politically as well because she thinks we shouldn't do this. And then you got the peanut gallery now that Rhaenyra has formed as her small council. Mari, what is this woman's name? That's Lady Frey. Again, Lady Frey. Yes, Lady Frey and Manderly are just cackling around. They just, you know, anytime something happened, they like, get a load of this guy. You know, they are fed up.
[00:19:00] They're talking shit to the point where Damon, I think he threw his chalice at them. Yes. It was funny. Was it? Oh, y'all strict? I like that. I like that we didn't see him throw it, that we just saw it like. He said, damn. Yeah. But, of course, this is the same dilemma that Rhaenyra has been having, right? It is the same exact thing, which is we cannot go in there and do what Damon wants to do, but this is just not who Damon is.
[00:19:29] We've been seeing that since season one where Viserys wanted to make political moves and then they're like, hey, where's Damon? And then we see Damon out there just like on the battlefield, you know, killing the man who was living in the holes, the crab guy, you know? And so that's just who he is. And so you can tell he's getting more and more sick of this, you know, just all of the lingering and the letting it be. He's ready to get revenge. And so he's like, I'll go in and I'll go kill these people because it'll give me something.
[00:19:57] Rhaenyra decides she has a better move for him. She wants to send the Valerian men there, but she needs him to go. Is he going to be going on foot to like, I guess he goes in to kind of flush out the Hightower, you know, in disguise people, Mari? Is that what he's doing? Yeah. And I think she said she wanted him to like assemble the assassins for Daeron and Ormond too, I believe. Yeah.
[00:20:26] She's sending knives into the city and then, yeah, she tells him like he wants to get revenge, but she's like, nah, I need you to go inside and kind of like flush these people out. You know, it's time for us to get our hands on them. And he does. Camille, we will see him wandering through the city dressed like a cop because when he goes to the gold cloaks for help, they resign. What did you think about them all quitting right in his face? I felt I felt them. I felt because, I mean, you think about there's a castle.
[00:20:53] There's got to be something you could scrounge up to pay me. You know what I'm saying? Like, we not working on the honor system here. My kids got to eat, bruh. And like, there's something. You could be selling some shit. Something could happen, but you need to pay them. And nah, I ain't working no more. I'm going to go take care of my family. I felt them. Yeah. You were in the military. So you understand like the idea of like, yeah, I committed to this, but also I went in the military for free. Yeah, exactly. I come and get the charger.
[00:21:24] Yeah. So, Mar, yeah. All these people quit. You know, Damon does his normal, like y'all craving, y'all all scared. It's okay. Like, we going to be all right. And then we see that, no, they really done. And so he has to wander the streets. And he uses that gold cloak to draw out these people who are trying to take out the gold cloaks, who are assassinating them. And he does end up meeting one guy. They have their altercation really quickly. And this man tells him nothing except for killing me is just going to bring more people to our side.
[00:21:54] We're not a part of any of this. We just want to take y'all out. So, and so, Mar, I don't know. I don't know if you can tell us more about them without getting too far into the books. But what do you think about this scene? No, I can't tell you anything about them because it's made up. This is the same. This is the same guy that. But this is the same guy that we've seen for the past two episodes who I think he sent the raven to Ormond. And keeping him abreast of how many gold cloaks are dead.
[00:22:23] So, it's just, all it is is just that each side has insiders, you know, in the other people's cities. And so, as much as he's like, yeah, we're not doing this for money. We don't like that lady. It's just like, that's how it is. You know what I'm saying? Like, you're never going to get, when there's a civil war like this and there's sides to be chosen,
[00:22:50] you're always going to have people who will want to choose a side that opposes you, even if they're in your city. You know what I'm saying? So, I'm assuming what they're doing with this subplot is just laying the foundation and the groundwork to be like, as we've been seeing the last three episodes, Rhaenyra is having trouble with her city.
[00:23:16] And keeping the people in her city satisfied, fed, paid. Like, it's just one more notch of like, Rhaenyra is kind of like slowly losing the battle. And I think we, this is also hinted at at the small council. It's like, everything is like time. We just need more time, time, time, time.
[00:23:45] And I don't know if people, if you've caught on, but the reason why people around Rhaenyra think of like the Baratheon, like the Baratheon storm lord, he's like, oh, I got to go south. You know, I got to do this thing in the south. I'll, you know, I'll be here when it happens. They want, people want time because they want to see how things shake out without having to commit. Right.
[00:24:11] And, and as much as Rhaenyra wants to handle things a certain way, it takes more time. And it's more time that she doesn't have. Right. Because more time that the gold cloaks aren't getting paid, more time that the town folk are starving. More time that Tumbleton is staying under Orman's control, which makes her look weak. Like, she says it here at the small council.
[00:24:41] So the overarching thing is time and kind of like in this episode. And you'll, you'll just see as time goes on, you know, it's just easier for things to slip from her grasp or whatever. So sorry, that was a tangent. But it's just a lot of like minute stuff that's happening because I guess they told us, they said, y'all two weeks, that's when the battle's happening. So y'all just gonna have to wait for two weeks.
[00:25:12] I've already said my piece about them holding off on the battle of Tumbleton. So it's whatever at this point. Yeah. Alan, you know, even chimes in, hey, we need more time because we at least got to wait till the military get here. Right. But he says, okay, well, we at least have the Valerians that can help out as well. So Rhaenyra will tell him, hey, go ask Corlys, you know, go speak to Corlys and come back here with some men.
[00:25:39] But to your point about people not getting paid, Camille, we got to talk about the bastards because they were lied to and led astray. You know, they signed up for this. Oh, I will give you houses. I'm going to give you, you know, we're going to be paid. We're going to take care of y'all. You're going to get knighted. They barely got knighted. Off couldn't even be a Targaryen the way she wanted to. The little ceremony was ghetto out in the little courtyard with a few random witnesses.
[00:26:07] And then since this, since having a dragon, the thing that, you know, a lot of these small folks probably dream about being able to wield. They've been sleeping outside on the ground on this hill, supposed to be watching over them. And so Off and Hugh the Hammer are a little fed up. Off specifically because he like, what's the point of having a dragon if I can't even stop with my friends? He can't even show his homies the dragon. He outside. I feel like if I'm getting, if I am swearing my life to you, Mari, the least you could do is let me sleep indoors.
[00:26:39] Yeah. I mean, especially with like the whole tavern thing, not letting Off go to the tavern. It's kind of like, yeah, it's, we said it a few episodes ago, but I'm like, let the man go get a drink. But also she's right. She's right. If you get stabbed and died like these gold cloaks, do not see these gold cloaks out here off getting stabbed. If they can get stabbed up, you can get stabbed up.
[00:27:06] So, I mean, again, it's just one of those things where I, I, the priority list for Rhaenyra, it's not being handled properly. You know, because I get that money went to the small folk, but it's also like, you probably should have paid your cops with it. You probably should have paid your dragon riders with it. But I don't know.
[00:27:35] It's just one of those things that it's like, no matter which way she would have went, somebody would have been mad and upset. But again, the biggest thing though, they have dragons. So you kind of need to like, make sure that they're good. That's what I was going to say. It's not easy to get another dragon rider to replace the ones that they have. So what, like, if something happened to one of them, the dragon just kind of flies off, right? The dragon isn't going to stay and fight the war with no rider on it, correct?
[00:28:04] And that's, and that's what she said. And that's the main reason why she told Ulf not to go to the tavern. She said, because if you go to the tavern and you die, I'm down a dragon rider, you and a dragon. He has that power. He has that power in reverse. Cause he can be like, you know, I'm not getting on the dragon. How about that? What are you going to do? Kill me? You know what I'm saying? You're going to hurt me? Cause how easy is it to replace me? I'm not very easily replaceable. So yeah. Yeah.
[00:28:33] I mean, which is why you would think you would prioritize, you know, keeping them. Yeah. On the up and up. Camille, you make a good point. Cause we saw, we saw Ulf sneak off to the tavern. Cause that's what he going to do. And he runs into Damon. They have a little bit of a skirmish and Damon beats his ass in front of the courtyard. You want to talk about bad PR? Yo, this is your bastard knight that has a dragon and you punked him in front of everybody.
[00:29:02] And if I'm off, what's stopping me from being like, you know what? Maybe the greens aren't that bad. Let me go get on my dragon and go. You know what I'm saying? So I just think they're handling this all wrong. Absolutely. Absolutely. I said, when I saw that part, I was like, he's officially gone. Like that was, that was it. That's the last straw right there. I quit. I ain't gonna lie to you. My boss hit me. I'm like, what? I'm finna go. But remember, this isn't the first time Damon did him. This is like the 33rd.
[00:29:32] That's what the even, yeah, messed up part is. Like, like you said, in front of a whole bunch of people and you putting your hands on me. Stop putting your hands on me. That part. Stop putting your hands on me. Unhand me. You know, and again, Ulf just won a stunt in front of his friends. Now you didn't embarrass them in front of his people. Ulf is a man of the people. They all know him. He's a town drunk. So they're like, damn, you're going off like that. That's crazy. You know?
[00:29:56] So I just think that if Ulf were to do something and backstab them, they would be like, oh my God, he's such a traitor. And I'd be like, you kind of been. Yeah. You know what I'm saying? Like y'all wasn't really treating him like it was a part of the team. And then we got to talk about Hugh the Hammer. His wife about to leave him, Mari. I mean, but technically, right?
[00:30:20] Like if we remember back in season two, he shouldn't be that shocked because she did actually say these exact words. She said, don't go. I don't care about the rest of this stuff. Stay with me. She literally did say that. She said, our child is dead. We are broke. I'm sad. But I don't want you going to chase a dragon. And he's like, but I got to go chase a dragon. Again, like a man. Go try and chain a dragon.
[00:30:48] Not talk to the lady about your death of your child. Go lay on the couch. Go lay on the couch. Yeah. So, I mean, as much as I would have been like, girl, shut up. Like when they're having that conversation, you're like, he got a dragon. Come on. Y'all, fortune could be better. And then you think. But then you think also, I mean, because he was like, I got a dragon. Nothing. Right? He couldn't even say like, I got a house. I got money. He's just like, I got things.
[00:31:17] And then she's like, I don't care. My brother's dead. I don't want to leave my family. She hit him with the, you smell different. Which was a great, like a great nod again to like how dragon writers, they stink of their dragon. You know how they used to always say, tell Rhaenyra, she stank of her dragon. But yeah, it was funny because I'm sitting here like, girl, come on. But then you're like, no, no. She is kind of right.
[00:31:47] But then again, he, but he knows like, the girl, it's in a fight over here. So like, let's go. Like, you know, at the very least, I was like, get the whole family. Let's go. And then, but then it's like, where are they going to go? Where are you going to go? Where are you going to go? I mean, again, but maybe they could have, they could all went to one of them rooms in the red key. She could have put, she could have put them in a little room. Okay. There's so many rooms there. There's a lot of room. But anyways. Right.
[00:32:17] Put them in a hotel until we get the, yo, castle straightened out. Right. But yeah, I felt bad for Hugh. But then again, like I said, I had to remind myself, I was like, but this is, this is truly his doing. Cause she, she said that she said, I need you here with me. Like, I'm sad. Our kid is gone. And he's like, well, I want to go better our fortune. She's like, I, I just want us. You know what I'm saying?
[00:32:42] And, and, and she told, and I think she told, I think I remember her telling him, like, if you leave, I'm, my brother lives in Templeton. And I'm going to go to my brother's house. And, and, but then when she hit him with the whole, like, the road is perilous, you know? And I was like, girl, what, what is happening right now? Yeah. This is sad. What is she like, you know, she hit him with the, you know, you know what I've been through to get to Templeton. You talk about, oh yeah, I'm shocked to see you here.
[00:33:10] Lady, sir, I walked miles, miles. And all these creep ass dudes has been coming up on me. Ain't no telling what didn't happen to me. And you going to show up talking about, I got a dragon. So yeah, she was, she was not feeling it. And again, this is just more, it's really, again, bad PR, but also bad keeping your people, you know, in line. It's just, it's not, I mean, look, look at what happens. She ends up telling Adam, go talk to your daddy, have them send some troops.
[00:33:40] We got, we got to, we, we got to regroup. He goes to Corliss and Corliss is like, oh, now she wants something else. She couldn't even, she couldn't even acknowledge you. She couldn't even knight you the right way. And she want to make you a bastard this whole time. Camille, what'd you think about Adam being like, well, I mean, you just started to acknowledge me as your child. So Alan. I've been, yeah, I've been loving like the, the clapbacks and the snapbacks and the, the, cause they've been attacking fatherhood a lot. Cause then, didn't the season start on father, did father's day?
[00:34:06] Or, so I've been just, every time I look at it, I think to myself, like, um, the men that are watching the show right now that like maybe are not taking care of their kids or that, you know what I'm saying? There's a lot of like little jabs that kind of get thrown. So yeah, I just, I just been loving him being a little like, well. He's like, well, I mean, like you want her to just immediately accept me as a bastard, but you. Yeah.
[00:34:34] It took you years, it took you years and we look just like you. We got your nose. So Mari, what I wasn't expecting black love here. You don't see this often now. Are they, aren't they cousins? That's her uncle. Yeah. No, that's her uncle. That's her uncle. Well, it's a pattern here.
[00:35:01] So, um, uh, Adam and Bela, Raina, Alan, Alan, Alan and Bela end up talking. And, you know, they've been bonding because they both got some daddy issues. You know, it's probably hard being black around here in Westeros as well. And, uh, finally we see them kissing Mari. I was not expecting this at all. Yeah.
[00:35:27] I, I was like, I was like, this was not, this is, we were not prepared for this. Like this is, this is like no loop. Like, what are we doing here? Like, what are we like, this was not, I mean, I, and then they've been setting us up with the other brother. Cause it's been the other brother. What happened to Adam? You need to sleep. Yeah. You need to sleep, baby girl. Yeah. I'll take care of you. We can run off together.
[00:35:56] And, uh, like they were like as friends. Yeah. So my first thought I said, I hope they're not trying to set up a love triangle. We only have two episodes left. Oh, you know what I'm saying? Like, but, but why, why did they set that set us up with, with the one, but she goes off and kiss. It just, it didn't make no sense to me. I just, I, I, right. That's what I'm saying. Like, I mean, and it does not help that I'm still like baby girl was like 11, two days
[00:36:21] ago to meet more than 16, 17 at this point. Right. And Alan is out here looking like a whole man and I'm just grown ass man. It's just, I don't know. I'm like, uh, I just, I just, just felt weird. It's all the place. Right. It's all to myself. She's, she's ovulating. That's why. Yeah. Cause she kind of, okay.
[00:36:48] Listen, she just woke up and was like, Hey, it did look like a light switch went off her head and she's like, you know what? Honestly, I can do that. And that's the very frustrating part to me. Cause I feel like they're doing a really good job of setting, setting a lot of stuff up and doing a lot of foreshadowing. And then they'll have stuff like this where I'm just like, oh, okay. Like, like where, where in the character development did we get this?
[00:37:16] And again, like, that's not even book related. That is just what we're seeing on the show. And it's just like, you can't have, we, we are all sitting here watching the show. Like, why are they kissing? You know what I'm saying? Yeah. It just, it doesn't make sense. And it's like, I get it. It's like, we've been seeing them bond, but it's never, it just like, I don't know. Maybe we could have got a, like a, just a little, like something here with no kissing.
[00:37:45] And then the next time we just kiss it. Yeah. I just wasn't prepared. I just wasn't prepared for this. It really went from zero to 100. Now, do y'all think this is a like relationship or were they just, you know, it's stressful out there, Camille. Maybe they were just having a moment. I told you my first thought she's ovulating. That's it. Yeah. She just woke up and was like, hey, and that's it. That's my one explanation. You're down to town all of a sudden for no reason. Yeah.
[00:38:13] I mean, she, she lost Jace who was her. Brother. Cousin. Husband. Cousin. Yeah. Yeah. So, I mean, she got to find a new uncle. Uncle. My notes. I just got, oh my God, that's your cousin. It's even worse. It's her uncle. It's her uncle. That's typical around these parts. That's her mom's half brother.
[00:38:43] Oh, it's ghetto. Ghetto. The ghetto. So, speaking of ghetto again, Rainier has got more issues. The townspeople, they have questions. They're hungry. They ain't got no money. She at first is like, hey, go talk to Manderly. That's he's the keeper of coin. This is above me. This ain't even my job. Next, next question. You know, sending for the next people.
[00:39:06] And then we find out that, is this like the church women, the mothers of the sept? Yeah. The septas. They have a complaint. They say, oh, one of our septas is missing. There's an issue going on now. We saw the white worm, Massaria, put a hit out on this girl. Right, Mari? Was that? I thought that was a maid.
[00:39:30] So, there was a woman down there talking to a man and she goes, hey, that person is a thief and needs to be handled. And so, then the next time we hear about somebody being missing, it's the septas talking about the girl. And so, I was like, is that the same person? Because Massaria is watching as this is happening. So, that's why I thought this was the same girl that was taken overnight. I don't know. I didn't make that connection. If that is, then what is Massaria doing?
[00:39:57] That means Massaria is kind of undercutting Rhaenyra's reign. I didn't put that two and two together. I just thought because the gold cloaks are gone, men are snatching novices out of that. Like, this is akin to snatching novice nuns out of abbeys. Like, that's what I just thought would happen. I don't know. I might have to go back and look. Because that just looked like a maid to me. That's what my initial reaction was.
[00:40:26] But then, like I said, when this moment is happening, they cut to her. And so, I thought, oh, well, maybe they're trying to make the connection between the two of them. But Camille, Rhaenyra says, well, all right. Well, that's sad. I'll light a candle for y'all next time I'm in church. Next. Thoughts and prayers. Thoughts and prayers. Thoughts and prayers. I'll light a candle for y'all in church. You don't even go to church like that. You went to church one time. And now, all of a sudden, you. That's all. Thank you, too. I'll pray for y'all. This is good.
[00:40:57] Bad PR. She said, I'll light a candle for it. You know what? I'll go ahead and put one up in there for you. I got you. We're at a little liquor. Right? Did you pour one out for mother? For novice mother? This is crazy. This is crazy. Now, Camille, I don't know what you do say in this moment. Because she don't really have a lot she can do. She can't be like, my gold clothes will take care of it. They don't work here no more. Yeah.
[00:41:26] There isn't much she can do but light candles, really. You know, it reminds me of when people are very critical of our government. And they're like, it's crazy that all this stuff is happening politically in the government. And then you'll get online and see all of the Democratic representatives being like, somebody needs to do something. And we're like, baby, that's you. Stop tweeting.
[00:41:55] I'll pray for her is crazy, Mari. It is. It is. And then that's what they said. Like, the other guy says, well, you know, the gold clothes are gone. You know, what are we supposed to do? And she's like, I'm going to get some Valerian men up in here. And they're like, oh, hell. Hell no. Now, are they against Valerian men or they just don't want to wait? Well, think about it. Probably a little bit of both. But think about it.
[00:42:21] The Valerian fleet and all that is, again, why they're in this mess. Remember, they choked off the gullet, caused the damage, the blockade, all of that. So, I mean, it's, you know, and that just happened like a month ago. I don't know. Like one moon cycle ago or something like that. So, it's like they still don't like them. So, it's just kind of like, I don't know. We don't know if we trust them. So, I mean, I think it's just all of the above.
[00:42:50] The frustration is like, it's a new regime has taken over and it's not smooth. And like we said, that first 100 days, this president gets judged based off the work of the last president. And clearly, the last presidents, the Greens, were trash. So, she has to, but we know that it wasn't that they're trash.
[00:43:14] It's that they specifically set things up so that if this were to happen, it would look unfavorably for Rhaenyra. So, it's just, it's not a good look. Rhaenyra don't have nothing. She don't got no coin. She don't got no gold cloaks. And she don't have time, even though that's what she's trying to get. She doesn't have it. And it's just, it's looking real dire. Yeah. Yeah. And she cut herself. She cut herself on the throne.
[00:43:45] Now, Mari, we talked about this in the book corner with Taryn, I believe. Because it was the, what would have been the premiere of this episode, but actually episode three, I think, of the season where she takes the throne for the first time. And I guess you can set it up a little bit better than I can. But in the book, that's when she cut her finger, right? Yeah, the first time. Yeah. Yeah. The first time she takes the throne and as people are swearing fealty to her, that's normally when she rises and she has cuts and it's bleeding. Everybody knows.
[00:44:14] And da, da, da, da, da. And remember when, when that happened, we were like, did they replace that with like her menzies? Because remember she was on her. So that was weird. But no, they come back to the throne nicking her. And in the little after the show, they were talking about, oh, the throne nicked her. And this is the throne is what caused Viserys' disease. And I was like, what? I never knew that. I never knew that was a thing. I was like, why are we saying this?
[00:44:44] No, I thought I knew that. I thought I knew that. Well, I knew, I knew Viserys was dying, but I didn't know it came from the throne. Because I thought, I thought if the throne cuts you, like it's rejecting you. Yeah. At that point. Yeah. And like. Yeah, it's rejecting you, but it shouldn't be giving you diseases. Like, you know what I'm saying? Like that. Yeah. Viserys' body fell apart. Yeah. Sitting on that throne. Like he was, he was a corpse, like a living corpse, you know? And so they are making it seem, because I did watch that too after the episode where they kind of give the rundown.
[00:45:14] Now they are making it seem like, oh, this is the first cut that could lead to infection and all this other stuff. I was thinking, damn, they ain't got no antibiotics or nothing. They ain't got no alcohol spasms. Infection is crazy. You can't file that down? Like, what do you mean? Like, and that's, and that's what I mean. And that's what I mean, Camille. Like, it's like, this is supposed to be symbolism. This is supposed to be symbolism of the throne rejecting her. Now, why are we sitting here saying that, that it's, it's now going to cause infection?
[00:45:43] Like, I'm glad that it was just on the behind the scenes, but I just was like, that don't make no sense to me. I mean, Viserys, first off, was a weak king who, that's why the throne rejected him. But then also he comes down with what I think they ended up saying was modern day, like, what the equivalent of what he had was leprosy. Yeah. Yeah. But like that, leprosy don't, leprosy don't come from cutting yourself, right? As far as I know.
[00:46:09] Well, I mean, I ain't never been in Westeros, so maybe it's a different condition that you can get from the Iron Throne. They're treating it with maggots and stuff. So maybe some of the treatments that they were doing made it worse. I don't know. But the after show does make it sound like Rhaenyra could be suffering in the same fate that Viserys did. Even if she is able to stick around for long enough, it does sound like that might be something headed her way. At least by the after show.
[00:46:36] Now, of course, if you only watched the episode, you didn't hear that part, but they talk about it. And so, you know, I guess that's the new canon that they're writing, you know, because the book is going to be one version. But this is kind of like the, you know, the stuff filling in the stuff that's missing from the book. And so maybe that's what they're going to. But yeah, Camille, Rhaenyra can really find it hard to catch a break these days.
[00:47:01] I feel bad for her a little bit, but I don't feel bad for her because a lot of this she could prevent, you know. But I'm just waiting for it for whatever happens next, because I hope she's not falling apart because the same maester that treated her dad is her maester. So maybe he'll figure out how to stop it from happening to her. Maybe.
[00:47:25] So the last thing I want to highlight for Rhaenyra and also get into the character that annoyed me the most in this episode. We got to talk about Helena. This girl. So they find Helena and Allison hiding in the wall tunnel. They bring them back and Rhaenyra is pissed because she's like, I'm trying to be, I'm trying to be a graceful host to y'all. Y'all are, y'all are, y'all are treasonous. Y'all are traitors. I should, I should have handled y'all a long time ago. I'm giving you grace.
[00:47:51] Allison's response is kind of like, if you giving us grace is keeping us in jail and then letting us go outside for an hour for yard time, then thank you. But can't you just banish us or something like that? We'll get out of your hair. I will go. Eventually, Allison does have to reveal to Rhaenyra that Helena is with child and that's why she was trying to escape. Rhaenyra does seem very taken aback. Like, I'm not going to harm that baby. But Allison's kind of like, you really don't have a lot of options. If this is a little boy, what are you going to do?
[00:48:21] You need to send us away so you don't have to deal with it and we can go. Helena has stopped eating. She's basically fasting or on a hunger strike because she realized that Allison lied to her. Allison was saying, oh, yeah, girl, when we get out of here, they're going to bring us Jajara and we're going to all live happily ever after. There was no plan to bring Jajara, Mari. There was no Jajara. There was no plan. You were being lied to. But from Allison's point of view, she's trying to save her kid. Now, Helena, let me talk to you.
[00:48:50] Let me hold your hand. Give me your favorite. I'm going to put that between my hands when I hold it. Now, look. How are you is you not eating going to be good for the baby that you want to have so bad? Now, if you want to have the baby, fine. But stop eating. That's not going to help the baby. Now, the baby is going to be sickly. It's already an incest baby, but now it's not going to be. It's going to be malnourished, too. Which one is it?
[00:49:20] Do you want to have the baby or not? Because if you want to have the baby, you need to eat. Mari, am I tripping? No, you aren't tripping. And that is exactly what my main thought process was. I'm like, girl, what is you doing? Like, what do you want? What do you want? Because it's not the baby. Like you said, if you're sitting here not eating, that's not good for the baby. Helena, poor baby. Just poor baby. Like, Allison is like, she can't do this. She can't do this. She over here.
[00:49:51] What is that? Embroidering? She was. And then her own skin, too. She was cutting herself. Yeah, and sticking it in the skin. I was like, oh my gosh, Helena. Poor baby. I just... That poor girl. They need to let her go see the moon. I think that might start clearing some things up for her. Yeah, let her go see the moon. Well, you know, it's not great news for Helena because Allison does tell Rhaenyra, I know where Aemond is.
[00:50:18] And I thought this scene was very funny because Rhaenyra was like, oh, you just found out where Aemond is? Like, well, I mean, I found out a couple days ago. Yes. But turns out, Helena had a dream. And that's good enough for Rhaenyra because she's like, oh, she's a seer. She can see the things. Okay, cool. Well, you, Allison, how about I ship you off to go and draw out Aemond? You can go to Harrenhal and he will obviously come out to see you. He trusts you.
[00:50:43] And in the meantime, I'll stay here with your daughter and just, you know, take care of her. Keep her hostage. Keep her hostage. You know, maybe exploit her gifts. And it's this look, Camille, it's this look that killed me because when Allison grabs Rhaenyra, she looks at her like, girl, I know you didn't. Yeah. It might be my favorite scene. It might be my favorite scene. But what did you, what do you, what is, what do you take from this?
[00:51:11] This moment where Rhaenyra clearly, finally can wield her power over somebody because nobody else will listen to her. But she knows Allison don't have a choice. That's what's making me feel sorry for Allison. As much as I couldn't stand her in season two, I'm feeling sorry for her because she, she got put into all the situations that she's in. And then she, she's got like a lot of things have been forced upon her. And I know she's at that point in life where she's just done. She's like, I just want to go live in the woods with my daughter.
[00:51:41] I want to forget about these kids and this castle and all this stuff. I just want, you know what I'm saying? Every time that she finds any kind of peace, she gets drawn back into something else. And she doesn't, you know what I'm saying? There's a part of me that really feels sorry for her, which is why I'm going to have to get a green and a black cup. Yeah. Yeah. Mari, she told Rhaenyra, I told you this was going to happen. Like, I don't know why you thought you could just be the queen above it all. Like, you, you got to compromise yourself.
[00:52:09] You got to crack a few eggs and make an omelet, Mari. Yeah. And Rhaenyra still seems like she's in denial, even though, again, she just almost like killed Dayron. Well, technically she almost made them take a black. Doesn't matter. She did almost kill him in this episode. Yeah. We'll get to that. She did. Oh, that's true. Yeah. Like the, like audacity to think like you just going to waltz in here and be what you thought you was going to be.
[00:52:39] It's like the term, you know, power, absolute power corrupts. Absolutely is a thing for a reason, you know, because you have to do things that you never thought you would when you're trying to solve 18 million problems with nothing. Right. And it's like, you always find yourself taking vows of things that you would never do. And then the situation comes up and you're like, damn, I did say I was never going to do that, but I didn't know I was going to be like this. You know, it's easy to promise somebody the stars, the moon, you know, oh, I'll give you this. I'll give you a kingdom.
[00:53:09] I'll give you, I'll knight you, all that kind of stuff. But then when it's time to pay up, like, damn, I ain't got no money. You know, I made a little too many campaign promises this time around. And so it is not looking great for Rhaenyra. She does have one plan in action, though. So I think the Baratheons pull up on her and they're ready to pledge fealty. They're like, hey, we're here. We were sent. She's kind of like, OK, what do you what do you bring it to the table? Like, where is where is your people?
[00:53:37] Were they there to pledge fealty? No, I don't even think they were. They were there to kind of stall while their homeboy went to the south. Right. They were there to make excuses. Yes. Yes. Yeah. He went to the south to do what, Mari? To fight the Vulture King. I didn't even know there was a Vulture King. We talked about this. We talked about this already, I believe, in the book quarter.
[00:54:02] But basically, when the banners were called, because originally his banners were called for Aegon and them. But before Rhaenyra took over King's Landing, they're like, yo, Baratheons, where y'all at? And they was like, oh, skirmishes? Dornish skirmishes?
[00:54:23] So basically, there's this robber knight kind of called the Vulture King that hides out in the Dornish Mountains. And what he'll do is he'll come down and raid the Stormlands. Like, every stormlands. And it's essentially what they were doing in the Stepstones when Daemon and Corlys went out to go deal with them.
[00:54:48] But basically, the Vulture King is just kind of like doing small skirmishes on the border between Dorne and the Stormlands. And the Lord Baratheon thinks that he needs to go deal with that to protect his territory before he sends people to aid in whichever side. He's like, yeah, yeah, yeah. My men are predisposed right now. Like, me and my men.
[00:55:16] But once this is over... We got you. We'll be right up there. We got you. I promise. Because, again, it's all about time. Right? It's all about, like, let's stay out of it until we figure out who's going to really win this thing. She says, basically, I should hang you. You know? Like, I should kill y'all. Like, this is traitorous behavior. And in my notes, I put, do it. Do it now.
[00:55:46] Because I think you do need to... I think you need to throw your weight around a little bit. I'm tired of people telling you no. You know? The fact that your queen said come north and you went south. Now, that's why your men are dead. Because you don't listen. Now, I said, send them. Send you. Come up here. Or I'm going to keep doing weird stuff like this. You know? I just feel like her PR is already bad. But when it comes to stuff like this, if you get off the books, take them to the back room and handle it. Yeah. And announce them traitors.
[00:56:14] Say that I sent for the Baratheons. They didn't want to listen. You know? That kind of thing. So, I was rooting for her to do something wild there. Instead, she has a plan. She sends them in undercover to basically pretend. Because, like, she takes their clothes and gives it to, I guess, some of these men. And she sends them in to pretend like they are the Baratheons. And they are coming to pledge fealty to Ormond and the Hightowers. Now, Ormond has a thing for smells.
[00:56:43] And when they walk in, I don't know if it was just because they was funky. Because they look dirty. Or if Rhaenyra had taken that hint that she got earlier in the season about the smells. But the moment they walk in, Ormond is completely taken aback. Because these folks, whatever that scent is, Camille, it's messing with them. To the point where he ends up throwing up. Yeah. Yeah. That was gross. Yeah. That was disgusting. But I think maybe it was on purpose.
[00:57:11] I didn't actually think about it. Because, you know, they always be dirty. But, yeah. I can see it being on purpose. Yeah. She said he's not good with sense. And we saw that. He's backing up. Like, far away from them. G-Wayne. Can we please give a shout out to Gwaine, please? I mean, finally. Finally, G-Wayne. I mean, damn. G-Wayne, all this bitching and moaning you be doing. I said, this boy ain't good for nothing.
[00:57:41] And finally, Mari. He did it. We got to give him his tens. Give him his tens. G-Wayne, that was funny. Because, like, again, like, this is where being of the court comes in handy, right?
[00:58:00] Like, as much as Ormond here, it's like that undertone of, like, Ormond and Kristen Cole are like, well, you kind of are playing Knight. You know what I'm saying? Like, he's kind of playing Knight. I think we found out in the first season that he was, like, a tourney, like, a tourney Knight. Like, he had a name. He was making a name for himself in that circuit, if I remember correctly.
[00:58:27] And he ran from the fight with Kristen Cole because he's like, I'm not about to do this suicide mission. Rightfully so. But whatever. And when he pulls up with Ormond here, and Ormond's like, oh, you didn't want to fight? You didn't want to kind of help us out? And he's like, no. Like, I don't want to. Because this is stupid. But I'm here. Like, he's like, my sister's being held hostage. I don't want to do any of these things.
[00:58:55] But because he knows, it's the same thing we talk about, like, when Rhaenyra and Daemon take on fake Daeron. They never saw Daeron's face. So they didn't know for a few days that that kid wasn't Daeron. So this is where being a court knight comes in handy because G. Wayne has been to all the tournaments. G. Wayne has met all the heads of the houses and their families and stuff.
[00:59:24] So when these people come in and they ask what the dude's name is, and he said Arian Baratheon, which that when he said that to me, I was like, to myself, I thought, I was like, did they send the air? Like, I was like, did they send him? Right. And then I also thought of, too, because this is the same house Baratheon that, again, in the end of the first season, Jace dies. You know. It's Lord Boros, who is the current Lord.
[00:59:54] And he only has four daughters. So I was like, unless this is, like, again, his younger brother or somebody. I was just like, I couldn't imagine them sending the air like this. But that was the only thing that trickled through my mind. And I was like, okay. But I guess I was just, I just, that just, you know, like tickled me real quick. And then when G. Wayne started stabbing people, I was like, what is happening?
[01:00:25] So for a minute, I was like, what is going on? So I saw the stabbing coming because it's the moment, it's the moment to me. It's when they say, well, we would really like to meet the king face to face. If we could just see him. And they got like, well, there he is. And they see Dayron and they're like, who? Him? Yeah. And that's what I was like, oh, kill him. Kill him all. Because they about to go back and tell him, nah, Dayron is, he's his little redhead boy over here.
[01:00:55] Okay. Cause like you said, Mark, they don't, they don't know what he looked like. And so that was when they found out that Dayron is just this kid. So I don't know, Camille, is that, that's where I picked up on it. I picked up on it. Just in the looks in his face. Cause I, when they walked in, I was like, this feels weird. And then I don't know the book's good enough to, I just heard Baratheon. So I'm like, how did they get there? And then I'm looking at the ground. Cause they had like shit on their carpet and stuff. So I was grossed out about that.
[01:01:22] And then I was looking at them and they started asking questions. And I was like, this is set up. This is set up. This is set up. You're right. You're right. Yeah. No. I mean, when they were asking questions about who the king, who the king is, I was like, again, nobody's seen this kid. So I just thought they were shocked that he was a child. Yeah. And that he didn't have the look of Targaryens. You know what I'm saying? And like, that didn't, that didn't strike me as anything because I'm like, yeah, again, half of these people, I've never seen these people, you know?
[01:01:52] So I didn't, I didn't think anything of it, but G Wayne had a lot of it. Cause he knew that that wasn't the guy who said he was, you know what I'm saying? So yeah. It was a cool moment for him. Oh, of course. Orman has to apologize. Cause he'd been, he'd been kind of punking G Wayne all episode. And so he kind of like, that thing you did was kind of cool. I can't even lie. You know, like what's up? It was nice. He starts promising a bunch of stuff.
[01:02:20] You could go to old town if you want, you know, but Wayne is kind of fed up with Orman. He finally tells him, I think you would sacrifice the lives of others, but I don't think you would sacrifice your own life. And I think that that is probably a really good representation of who Orman is, right? He's a chess master with these people. He's moving all the pieces around, but even then he wants Dayron to be the face of this. You know, he doesn't want to take the blame for this. He like you even, I think he was talking to Dayron, like you should make sure you pick a good hand.
[01:02:50] I'm thinking, wouldn't you naturally be the hand? He's like, I think he doesn't want the smoke Camille. I don't think he does either. I think he just, I don't, I don't know what his, what his, fantasy of the future could potentially be. And what, like I, cause he seems so manipulative and so controlling. So I'm wondering what his ultimate, cause he, of course he's putting whatever it is he wants first. And I'm just not sure what it is that he ultimately wants from all of this.
[01:03:18] Does he really just want to be in, you know what I'm saying? Like it can't just be what's front facing and it's hard to figure out what his manipulation really, what he's trying to get from it. But I don't know. He's an interesting character this season. He is. I'm very happy with G-Wayne having his moment. Cause I just have not seen it for him for a long time, Mari. But I thought this was a cool scene.
[01:03:41] It was, I, but I was like, it, uh, the vibes is definitely off with the scene of before when, when, uh, G-Wayne and Dayron and Dayron's like, oh my God, why would you leave me with him? Like, get me out of here. You know what he does? I was like, what did he be doing to y'all man? Like, like it's so horrible. Um, and the, I think they said in the after show that like Ormond is like, he's like the,
[01:04:09] basically the family bully and like, he grew up bullying G-Wayne and G-Wayne leaves. And now he's basically bullying Dayron. And I'm just like, this is horrible. I don't like this. I don't like this man. And Ormond, um, I, I like what they're doing with his characterization. Like they're really like setting him up to be like a big, big bad, which is pretty, pretty cool, but I don't like it.
[01:04:39] I feel so bad for, for little Dayron. Dayron, Dayron said he don't even want to be king here. Like, you know what I'm saying? Like he asked for this. So that's really interesting. That's a really entry, interesting, um, like take on all of this. Um, but it's just. It's just making it so like Cole's dead. So now here it is. This is the next guy we're waiting on like to die, you know? Yeah. We needed somebody else to root against for sure.
[01:05:08] Um, cause, uh, I didn't like, cause that's what I'm saying. Gwayne won me over because he had really pissed me off in this episode. There's that moment where he's talking to Dayron and he's like, dang, you really, you really a lapdog for this dude Ormond, huh? You just gonna be acting like this. And Dayron says, you left me with him and you knew how he was. I said, good point. You knew he was a weirdo and you left me here. You know, like you could have came and got me like, he's like, oh, well, this is the safest we thought you was gonna be. Nah, you knew you left me with a crazy person. So, uh, I appreciate Dayron for sticking up for himself.
[01:05:37] And he even asked like, have you seen my mama? Uh, and we don't really get an answer to that question. Oh, we have not addressed your favorite location of all time, Mari. We haven't went to Heron Hall yet. And in Heron Hall, we have Alice Rivers and Amon. And Alice Rivers looks like she really wants to domesticate Amon.
[01:06:01] She's like, don't you want to just run away and be with me and have a family and be just like the, bring your dragon, be the king of like with, with me, we ain't gotta, we ain't gotta be in all of this stuff. And, uh, he doesn't look like he's that into it, but she keeps pushing, she keeps pushing, she keeps pushing, uh, they, they kiss or she kisses him. You know, I think he kisses her back. I don't know. I couldn't tell, but Mari, this relationship has gotten out of control. Uh, I think he needs to get far away from Heron Hall.
[01:06:33] Yeah. Yeah. She's like, she's like grooming him for reals. It's, it's kinda, it's kinda icky. Um, yeah. I mean, she's doing her thing. This is what we saw her do with Damon. It didn't work. It didn't work. Um, but now like in Amon, these are the times where we see Amon being very, very impressionable.
[01:07:03] Right. He goes back to being like his age. Cause remember he's still young. You know what I'm saying? And I believe in the show, they aged him up to like 19 ish. I want to say. Okay. Maybe a little bit more than that. Maybe 20. I don't know. But like, uh, this is where like, you can see his, like, you know, like we said it last week. Like he, you know, the thing for his mama.
[01:07:32] It's like, and then like, uh, remember the old prostitute in the first season? Like he, it's like, yeah, he likes older women. So it's kind of like. Yeah. Yeah. She's trying to seduce him, but she's trying to seduce him with a, with a, with a life that's almost normal. You know, she's like, you've been in this desolate existence by yourself so long. Me too. Wouldn't it be great if you weren't by yourself? And, you know, he seemingly only has eyes for his dragon Camille.
[01:08:00] This man keeps saying, yeah, but I got to find Vhagar first. Yeah. Yeah. He doesn't, he doesn't seem very interested in what she's talking about at all. Um, it's weird that, that he doesn't think like, he's so concerned about the dragon to me. Like, I feel like, like he can't, don't they have that thing where he can like think about it in the dragon, you know, like the. They're supposed to be connected more than this. You know what I'm saying? That's a good, that's a good point.
[01:08:27] Cause Alice does say like, she was manipulating him, but she did say like, maybe the dragon left you here to save you. Yeah. Which makes sense. In a way it does. Because when, when Alicent, uh, tells Rhaenyra where he is, Rhaenyra was like, well, Vhagar is not there. And Alicent again said, girl, did I, did I say Vhagar? Did I stutter? I said, I didn't say Vhagar.
[01:08:52] I said, and so, I mean, um, Alice Rivers may have a point here. Um, uh, but the reason why Aemond is so worried about it is because he said it. Yeah. I think he said it last week and we've known it over the course of the show. He feels like he is nothing without his dragon. You know what I'm saying? Because it goes back to when they were kids and he was the only kid in the dragon pit that wasn't bonded to a dragon.
[01:09:17] And it instills in him that, that brevity to go and claim Vhagar, um, that night. And, you know, a lot of his self-worth is wrapped up in being the dragon lord, the dragon rider of the world's biggest and oldest dragon right now. So that's why his main focus is where's Vhagar, where's Vhagar, I gotta find Vhagar. Uh, he wants to make sure she hasn't abandoned him.
[01:09:42] He, it's those feelings of worthlessness that are peaking up and he wants to get rid of them by taking his, his mount again, you know? Um, but I, I do think Alex is right because Vhagar knows he, like, he was in very bad shape. Uh, the, you know, the wound that he sustained taking the castle needed, he needed the time to recover. And if Vhagar is parked in the, the back parking lot of Harrenhal. Like an escalade. Yeah. Yeah.
[01:10:12] Like, no, like everybody's going to be like, oh, well, that's where he's at. You know what I'm saying? And come. Um, so I thought that was a great, um, explanation for Vhagar's movement. And I was like, yeah, that, that's God, that seems like gospel to me. That makes so much sense to me. That makes sense. I guess I didn't realize that a dragon could abandon its writer. I thought they were like. But it's not abandoning. Well, no. Technically she's not abandoning. I think about it. Yeah. Yeah.
[01:10:41] She off in the cut. Yeah. Yeah. Um, you know. I'm doing this for you. I'm hiding for you. Well, we got to talk about somebody else who was not bonded to a dragon early on. We're going to talk about Raina. This girl. Raina can't catch a break. She can't. Is this worth it? I don't even know. I don't even know. She sees Moon Dancer in the distance and says, oh my God, my sister. I need to, I need to leave my hiding spot. But she gets caught.
[01:11:09] And, uh, she's about to meet the moon door. Um, Mari. Uh, she's real close to taking that dip. That dive. Uh, Jane Aaron is not happy. Yeah. Jane Aaron stays fascinated watching people fall out of that. So she needs to be real careful. When, when I saw her see the dragons, I was like, there's two dragons. Who are they? Like I was trying to figure it out. Um, and thank God she said, uh, she said it was Moon Dancer. So I'm, if it's Moon Dancer, then it has to be Sea Smoke with her because that's where,
[01:11:37] um, uh, Bela and Adam are patrolling, looking for Vhagar, all that good stuff. Um, but it's so funny, right? Because Raina is over here eating like blackberries in the cave with a bad twist out. And like, she's doing all of this because she wants her dragon so much. She, again, is tying herself work to a dragon. Meanwhile, Ulf and Q are over here have their dragons. Their dragons are great.
[01:12:06] And they're complaining about like having to, you know, do what they're doing. It's so interesting, like how important dragons are to the, to the individual rider and stuff like that. But yeah, Raina, Raina comes out of her, her hiding spot and Lady Jane, like why are we, she just, she just mean for like no reason. She didn't have to slap that girl. She just, she said, I told you to stay where you was at. And, and just like, you do it again.
[01:12:36] Um, but at least she told Raina that like, oh, the queen thinks the rider, she still is dead. She basically gives her like the news updates. Like, I, I, this is the only thing that I can think that the reason for this scene is just so Lady, Lady Jane could tell her like, what's, what's been going on. And she said it, she's like, they think you're dead. You, you, you said you wanted to just be you and your dragon. You got it. So what are you doing?
[01:13:05] Why are you trying to run after your sister? Like, I don't understand. And I was just like, uh, Raina, I feel like she, she's doing this to herself. Like this, to me, it has to be a better option. She shouldn't have ran out to that fight. I know that much. Camille, do you think we ever see Raina leave the veil? I don't know. This was one of those scenes that felt like, where'd this come from? Kind of, you know what I'm saying?
[01:13:30] Like, I know we need to put everybody in place, but it was one of those ones where definitely, it was kind of like, did we, did we need this? Like, she never saw her sister. She went up, she got slapped. She went back to a hole. So I guess it was just a reminder that she's up there. I'm not, I'm not even sure what that, that was for. If you told me after last week's episode, we were never going to see her again. I'd have said, okay. Cause I felt like she had her goodbye moment.
[01:13:57] She told Damon about himself and she said, I'm going to stay here with my dragon. Cause this is all I want in life. It's all I wanted and I got it and I'm gonna stay here. And I was like, okay, cool, bye. So then when we saw her coming out to look at the other dragons, I was like, well, why do we care what Raina thinks right now? She's not a part of none of this. Only for her to go get slapped up and come back. So, yeah. My, my only thought process is it has to be, um, important down the road that she knows that information.
[01:14:27] So lady Jane said, the queen thinks that the writer of sheep stealer is dead. And I feel like she said something else, but I never forgot it. She said, she did. She say something else. She did. She told her, she basically told her like you, for you, uh, went up against our agreement. We, you, you promised me that you would stay your ass in there and you didn't. Um, but I don't know what else, uh, what else she could have said. That was not tell her anything else about the family. She told her something else about the family.
[01:14:56] I don't know. I don't remember. I don't remember. I, I, I'm assuming it has to be important later on. Yeah. It has to be because, because why waste all that just, just to get her smashed? Maybe, maybe she puts two and two together that they think the writer of sheep stealer is dead because Damon, um, told, told her. And so maybe that'll make her feel good towards Damon or something. Yeah, I don't know. Uh, before, before we move on to the big finale here, I do.
[01:15:26] I, I feel like I forgot one portion of Alice rivers and, uh, Amon. She got, she has dragon eggs y'all. Uh, oh yeah. Mm-hmm. I shocked me. Shocked the hell out of me, Mari. Yeah. Um, yes. She has a clutch of dragon eggs from dream fire. Again, I'm trying to figure out, should I, should I say it now? No, I don't think you should. Okay. So, yep.
[01:15:55] More dragon eggs. Yay. Yeah. Uh, Camille, do you think we see one of these dragons hatch before the end of this series? Uh, series. I do not, but I have to say, as soon as I saw the dragon eggs, all I thought about was Mari and the fact that I get to talk to her tonight and figure out what the hell's going on with the dragon eggs. Yeah. Tune into the book corner to find out what the hell's going on here.
[01:16:18] Um, because I will say, I will say right here that I, I think what she was doing, what it felt like to me, what she was doing with the dragon eggs was trying to use them to seduce. Oh yeah. Because as soon as she takes them out, she's like, you're a Targaryen prince. Your sons will be princes. It felt like she was like, yeah. Right. It felt like she was trying to say, put a baby in me. So then we can give the baby one of these eggs. Yeah.
[01:16:47] We got five of them. We about to start a whole little Targaryen family over here outside of the kingdom, outside of the politics. And then we going to be in charge of what we got to do. Look at the look, I got dragons. You got dragons at home. We don't got to go back to the, you know, very creepy, but also very cool. You know, every time I see the dragon eggs, I always think that it's so cool. Cause it just takes you back to watching game of Thrones the first time and Daenerys and her egg. You know what I'm saying? So that's, it did make me hype. I ain't going to lie.
[01:17:15] Um, but the end of the episode did piss me off because Mari. Why, why, why, why, why they come after Corliss? Who is that? Who are these people? I don't even know. Like, I'm sorry. I can't help you. They're making shit up. So like, I mean, cause he was out there hanging pirates. I do believe. And then when these people show up and they linger on that white man's face, I don't know who that is.
[01:17:46] Yeah. He, uh, is out in the woods giving his, his, uh, his army, the pep talk because they are going to go and do exactly what Rae Neera said, right? Like they're going to go and be a part of this war. Um, cause you know, his son came and asked him to do it. So he's like, yeah, we about to get at it. But then next time we see him, he's in the woods and he's surrounded, but we see him attacked, um, at the end of the episode. Now, Camille, we didn't see a body.
[01:18:14] So we don't think he's dead. No, you don't think he's dead. Okay. So, so what do you think is happening to Corliss? Hostage? Hostage? You know, I like hostage. Mari. What is this? Could this be a hostage situation? It could be. I was thinking because we don't know, we don't know Corliss's exact location. I figured he might be somewhere South of King Blanning.
[01:18:43] So I'm wondering, I'd have to go back and look at that guy's face. Could that have been Lord Boris Baratheon? Does the name, does the name Sir John Roxton mean anything to you, Mari? Uh, uh, uh, uh, Bull John Roxton, um, the Lord of, um, so I put up an article from Mashable.
[01:19:09] It says Lord Orban's right-hand man, John Roxton. And so, uh, it seems like this man is of the greens. Yeah. Roxton. So that means he's more South of the Mander. Bold, bold John. Yeah. That's not bold. John Roxton. Um, but who, how are we supposed to know who that is? Like, you know what I'm saying? Like, was he before? Was he? I guess so.
[01:19:36] I mean, I've said, I found images of him on, uh, on Google. Um, but yeah, apparently bold John Roxton, uh, apparently. Um, so yeah, I don't know if this is, uh, you know, them just like inserting him into this or if he has had a bigger part, but I don't remember this man. Apparently he has a, a sword of Valyrian steel. Yeah. Orphan maker. Mm-hmm. Yeah. Yeah.
[01:20:06] Um, yeah. Coming from the reach. Where was, I mean, if I was supposed to know this man, I'm sorry to this man. I didn't know who he was, but yeah, that just means Corlys is taken by the greens at this point. So hostage, more than likely a hostage. I mean, cause we did, Ormond does say like, um, the smartest thing Rhaenyra did was make Corlys Valeria in her hand. Mm-hmm. Um. Um, and then, yeah.
[01:20:36] And then the, the next, the scene, the next, the scenes of next time on, he says, oh, we have like another piece on the chess board or something like that. So, I mean, I don't know. Sure. Fine. Whatever. Whatever. Whatever. We will see if Corlys can escape death once again when we come back next week to talk about season three, episode seven of House of the Dragon.
[01:21:03] Is there anything else y'all wanted to talk about with it from this episode before we get into the book corner? No, I'm excited about the book corner. There's nice things. I need clarification. Me too. Mari, what you got on your mind? I will say, um, we didn't talk about, uh, Aegon, Larys, or, and, um, Tylan. Definitely yada yada that. My bad. Um, we do see Tylan. Tylan is like, hey, come with me. Larys is still like, bravos.
[01:21:31] But, but, Aegon says, let's go to Essos. What's going on, Mari? Yeah, like, literally, they have the shot where it's like, like, one on the shoulder, like, devil on the shoulder. We're looking over, um, Aegon's shoulder. And, uh, Tylan is like, come to the Westlands with me. That's where the gold is. That's where we can rally the men. We can tell everybody you're alive. We can, like, really make a fight of it. And, so Larys is like, yeah, let's go, you know, let's go across the narrow sea.
[01:22:00] Because you're, you're a sucky ruler. So let's just leave. He, he asked Tylan. He said, do you think I'm a bad person, Tylan? And poor Tylan. He's like, I mean, we all got good and bad parts of us. That was so funny. I don't really agree with all the stuff you do, but don't kill me. Right. They did a really, really, really good job of making me think of Jaime Lannister in that scene.
[01:22:29] When, because when he's all dirty and I'm like, remember he, they're walking back him and Brienne of Tarth and they're dirty and his head. He, it really brought me back to Jaime walking back to King's Landing in that scene. I said, they did a good job putting that together. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Um, so yeah. It, uh, but I think Aeon is just like, let's go to Essos. Let's like, uh, because remember again, said last week, Aeon didn't, doesn't really, he,
[01:22:59] he wasn't ever ready for the throne. He never thought he was going to take the throne. He was more than fine. Just drinking, whoring his life away. Cause he, he always thought it was going to be his sister. Um, so once he finds out he's a bad, he was a bad man. He was a bad King. And most, he thought he knows that everybody thinks he's dead already. Plus now he doesn't have his dragon. Just let's F it. Let's just, let's just go to Essos.
[01:23:29] Yeah. So we'll see what that means for Aeon and, and more things when we come back next week and, um, from subsequent weeks as well. If you are completely, you know, averse to the, all the things we have alluded to in the book corner, you know, now is your time to tap out. Thank y'all for listening. [01:23:54] Uh, but if you are sticking around with us, now is the time to join us is open. The library is open. What do you have for us in Mace Damari's book corner? I know I made so many notes here. Talk to us. Okay. Me and Camille. So, uh, first off with, uh, sir, Kristen's death. Like they did a really good job. Again, they, they did a really good job depicting the death.
[01:24:22] The death itself was line for like word for word from the book. Um, like who are those people are death. And if I strike my banners, will you, will you save my men and the, the bones and all of that? The one line that they did leave out that I was like, oh man, I, I like, I really wanted, uh, to hear that line. Okay.
[01:24:47] So, uh, basically one of the line, what that battle ends up becoming, it ends up becoming called the butcher's ball, right? Because it's, it's not a battle. It's, it's basically just a, a butchering because, um, all of Cole's, all of the rest of Cole's men are, um, end up dead and the, they, so they can move on.
[01:25:13] Um, but the biggest thing, the biggest kind of departure was, um, that the girl who shoots him, um, her name is, uh, it's Alison, uh, Blackwood, also known as Black Allie. She is like a very minor character in the dance. Um, at least in this portion of the dance.
[01:25:36] And she is like a good archer and, and she, they don't, they do know who, who, who sends the arrows. Uh, but in the book, it, it isn't, it isn't her, but I thought it was kind of cool that they have her here, even though I'm like, um, they just, she was kind of weird. Cause she was like in the, like just in the cut, like, yeah, well she, I was like, it didn't feel like she was in the army.
[01:26:06] It felt like she was just kind of like off to the side, kind of walked up on it and said, you know what? I'm just going to shut this kid up. Exactly. And, and, and which doesn't, which doesn't make sense because it's like, she, like in the actual scene, in the actual scene, uh, the quote that they, that they leave out after Kristen says, as you will it, we can begin here. It's actually, he says the four of us, cause there's actually three versus him.
[01:26:36] One of me against the three of you. Will that be enough to make a fight of it? And then Pate, that's his name. Uh, Pate says, I'll, I'll want three. I'll have no songs about how brave you died. King maker. Uh, there's tens of thousands dead on your account. But as he says that he's already dead because he, Pate signaled for his archers to send the three arrows. So it's all very intentional.
[01:27:03] Um, uh, Pate of longleaf, uh, Roderick, Dustin, Garibald gray are, uh, the three, um, people who are, uh, the, the river men, um, who are leading the river men and the wolves and, and the wolves at this point. But, you know, none of them were really introduced. So we just have our standings here, Lord Tully and, and, uh, Roddy the ruin. That's his name. Uh, the gray, uh, from the, uh, the Starks.
[01:27:32] So I really liked that line. I was kind of upset that that line was left out, but I think if you guys got the gist of it, you got the gist of it. They really just did not want him to have any type of glory. And that's why I feel like that would have been a little bit more prominent if this had happened at the end of last week's episode. You know what I'm saying? Specifically after him be like, yes, do this for the glory. Like, yeah, like I think it would have been more, uh, but it, but if it came across the last, that's fine.
[01:28:02] I really did like that. Um, yeah. And, and yeah, I don't, I don't know what the inclusion of, uh, uh, uh, black alley was for, but I, I, I'll, that'll be interesting. They highlighted her in, um, the sec was it when they, the, the second episode. Yeah. They highlighted like the camera link, cause I remembered her, they lingered on her for a minute. And so they finally brought her back around.
[01:28:28] So I feel like they're setting her up definitely for another, like big thing. Yeah. And she sticks out cause of her makeup and nobody else is wearing makeup. Yeah, she did. She looked badass. She looked really badass. Uh, red Rob rivers is the, is supposed is in the book, the person who, um, do, who does him in. So, uh, yeah. Yeah. So other than that, I really did, um, like his death, like I, like I said in the book
[01:28:56] corner last week, um, that the, the whole, the, the guys pretending to be dead and jumping out at them. It got me. Yeah. They did that. Yeah. That was good. It was done in a different way in the book. So I kind of, I like that they did it this way. Like I said, that, that feast where the, the feast for the traitor scenes, that's what they did. They would, they would like, they would leave dead bodies like, like that.
[01:29:25] Um, like, like set up like that. And Sir Kristen and them have passed like several of those tableaus to the point where they were just like, man, they just taunting us with these things. So by the time they go past the last one, they pop up and kill them. So I thought this was pretty well done and it was, it was more memorable. Um, but Sir Kristen's death, I think is, it's very satisfying.
[01:29:51] However, I do think it's more satisfying in the book because they, they, he's a very sympathetic character here in the show, which I, which I like because it's kind of like, we still hate him, but he's more sympathetic in the show. So in the book, he's a lot more ruthless. Uh, again, he goes by the moniker, the Kingmaker, because once Aegon makes him his hand, he is gung ho about like, you know, they need to bend the knee to you.
[01:30:21] You shouldn't be begging. Let's go slaughter these people. Like this whole arc, which I was telling Chappelle about like him being like, Oh, what is this? The dragons emo Kristen Cole was not a thing in the book. Oh, I see the dragons. This is all we're just putting beneath their feet, blah, blah, blah, blah. That wasn't a thing in the book. In the book, Kristen Cole was so like full of like arrogance and, and importance and stuff like that.
[01:30:50] And, and so it's, it's a little bit more, you love it a little bit more when it's like, no, you're going to die here. Basically nameless. Um, you know, in a butcher in the butcher's ball, not even a battle. And, um, and then I think, uh, Chappelle, you had pointed it out once they find, they find his shield in on Game of Thrones. And I'm like, who's this? And I don't know. Some guy. Some rando. Yeah.
[01:31:19] Um, cause even, even like you said in the book, he got killed by a man whose last name is Rivers. You got killed by a random ass bastard. You didn't even go out to know, you know what I'm saying? Like respect to Mr. Bastard Rivers, but you know, you, that's your legacy. You wanted to die in war, you know, bring on your people two on one. Nah, no. So no, no worry. So I liked that. I did like his death again.
[01:31:46] Like I said, and you said, see, my only gripe is not about the book. It's about the placement, you know what I'm saying? In the, in the show. Um, so next up on my notes, you're going to tell us about these eggs. Um, oh yeah. I can tell you about the eggs. The biggest thing about the eggs is they're, they're a clutch from dream fire. Dream fire is like, uh, that's Helena's, uh, dragon who's currently, uh, unridden. Right.
[01:32:13] Cause Helena's going through some things, obviously. So dream fire is currently in the dragon pit. She's been in the dragon pit. I don't even, have we even seen Helena ever ride dream fire? Maybe in the first season. I don't think so. Maybe. I don't even know. Um, um, but dream fire is also widely speculated to be the mother of, uh, Danny's, um, eggs. That's what I was thinking.
[01:32:43] Is it something that, that connects to the. These eggs specifically, we, we don't, we don't think so. Actually. We think that the eggs that Danny had are actually the eggs that were sent off with, um, when, when her kids went off, uh, with Viserys and Joffrey went off to, um, not Joffrey, uh, Viserys, Aegon, young, Aegon, the younger and Viserys were sent off to, uh, Pintos with the eggs that Raina was supposed to be. Raina was supposed to be with them.
[01:33:13] Yeah. Yeah. Um, everybody speculates that those are the eggs that become Danny's eggs because she's gifted to them by, uh, uh, the Pintosi minister. Um, so no, these eggs wouldn't have any connection to game of Thrones, but they are there because like Alice River said, dream fire, she, she is known for drop. She, she drops eggs. It's like, uh, um, war dog talks about it in our, um, dragon episode.
[01:33:42] I believe she is the mother of, uh, like Taraxes, uh, Tessarian, something like that. Like she, she ends up, uh, producing a whole bunch, uh, a whole, a whole bunch of different eggs and stuff like that. Um, so, uh, Raina, Queen Raina Targaryen, um, who was, it's, it's a lot of history. I don't know if I'm going to go through as much history.
[01:34:09] I think that connects to this, but Queen Raina Targaryen, Targaryen, she was actually, um, the granddaughter of Aegon the Conqueror. Um, and she was married to her brother, another Aegon who's a prince. Of course. Yes.
[01:34:32] But, uh, their father, Aenys, who was Aegon the Conqueror's, um, successor, he dies. And when he dies, uh, Prince Raina, uh, Queen Raina, she and her Aegon were supposed to take over the throne. Instead, Maegor one, also known as Maegor the Cruel, who was, who was Aenys, Aenys' younger brother takes over the throne.
[01:35:01] He kills Aegon, Queen Raina's husband. And then he forces her to, um, marry him. Uh, Maegor the Cruel, this is the guy who, um, is up until this point is the worst king ever, you know, we talk about Maegor's teats is, you know, a name for Rhaenyra. He, he, he's one of the, Maegor the Cruel, he's one of the, the crueler, uh, kings.
[01:35:28] He actually, um, marries six brides. He, he, he, he, yeah, yeah. He has six wives at one time. Damn. And, yeah, and Queen Raina is actually one of them. She's forced to marry him even though he killed her husband. Um, long story short, history happens, history happens, history happens, but Queen Raina ends up helping her brother, Jaehaerys I.
[01:35:56] Remember, this is who Viserys, this king, uh, uh, Rhaenyra's father inherits the throne for. She helps Jaehaerys I become king. And technically her being skipped over in the line of secession kind of starts this whole male heir chain of events type thing.
[01:36:17] Um, and when she is, uh, helping Jaehaerys and his queen, Alicent, um, secure the thrones, they go on progression and she goes to progression to Harrenhal. Dreamfire lays a clutch there. And apparently Alice Rivers is the only person who's there. Yeah. She's just like, yeah, they here.
[01:36:43] And so it's very tempting to tempt the Targaryen prince with, with eggs, especially one who does not have access to like normally the dragon pit or the dragon month. That's where you get more eggs. You know, we've seen in the first season or the second season, Damon, uh, climbing the dragon month, removing the eggs, you know, those are, those are hot commodities for, for dragon writers and to, um, continue the line of dragon.
[01:37:11] So, um, all of this was just a part of her seduction. It was really cool to see them pop out. So I, you know, I, I don't know if anything will come of it because again, this is the dance of the dragons. We got the dragons that are hatched now, you know, who knows what's going to happen by the end with, with this clutch here. So, but it was cool to see it, you know, it's always, always cool to see more eggs. Like you said, any questions about that? Yeah.
[01:37:41] Not, not so much about the dragons, but you did remind me of something that Helena said in this episode when she looked at Alison and she said, did you always want me to marry my brother? There wasn't nobody else you could send me to. I thought about that when you were talking about, you know, how she's for this woman was forced to marry her, her, uh, the guy who killed her dad or whatever, killed her husband. Yeah. Whatever. I'm like, this is crazy. This is actually crazy that you like, you got your own daughter having a question. Was you, was you in on this? Did you want this to happen?
[01:38:10] And Alison being like, look, I ain't stop it. Could have been worse. Well, yeah. Like she said, so Alison says, you know, you get to stay close to me, you know, you know, it's, it's your brother, but at least we're here. Uh, but what it truly was is like, it was auto, you know, Alison also thought so, but it was, it's, uh, it was to out Targaryen Rhaenyra's kids. Right.
[01:38:37] It's because that's all it's been, uh, when, when, um, Helena and Aegon and Aemond all come out with the, the traditional Targaryen features and Rhaenyra's kids don't, all they spend time doing is, is showing how legitimate and how Targaryen they are. So they wanted to, um, auto, I think auto said in this first season, I can't remember,
[01:39:05] but it's like, we want to marry them together to show that they are the tradition, traditional Targaryens. Because remember Viserys wanted to marry Aegon and Rhaenyra together, um, which would have united the claims and stuff like that. And it's the same effect. There's still brother and sister, half brother and sister, but they really did it to just out traditional Targaryen, uh, Rhaenyra. Mm-hmm.
[01:39:35] Anything else from the book corner? What else you got on your notes? Yeah. So, um, Bela, Adam and Alan, right? Yeah. What's going on? So the kind of frustrating thing about this part is again, it's just like, it feels like it comes out of nowhere. However, in the book, Bela is described as like a willful young girl. She's very bold.
[01:39:58] She's very, um, like she's very, uh, adventurous, right? Her, her... You get that from her here in the show a little bit too. Do you? Because it's like... Go ahead. Because I mean, I mean her, yeah, her and Jace jumping on their dragons to go to the gullet, but that, uh, that's not book canon. She wasn't at the gullet. Um, but also to me, it never felt playful. You know what I'm saying? Like... She always felt serious. Yeah.
[01:40:28] Exactly. She's always felt serious. Even in last week's episode, when her and Alan are having that connecting moment, she's talking about how she feels like she has to prove herself to Rhaenyra and da-da-da-da-da. Book Bela is not like that. Book Bela would hang out on the dragonmont with like some of the, the bastards in the, in the town. And, and because during the Dance of the Dragon, she's actually left on Dragonstone.
[01:40:53] And, um, and it's so bad that the maester there is like, uh, like once Jace dies, the maester is like, we might need to get her married off soon because she's out here kissing boys. She wild. And I don't know. They're just like, I, I, I don't, I don't know, man. Like, we should probably do something about this.
[01:41:17] So to me, if, if we had that type of context and if Bela had been a more fun, flirty, flighty character up until this point, this would make sense. But because all, all we've seen from her across three seasons is just how serious she's been. It just doesn't make sense. Plus she's never like, that's another thing. Again, she still feels young to me.
[01:41:45] We have not seen her in a sexual or even sensual flirty type of light. Cause her and Jace weren't like that at all. Exactly. Her and Jace weren't like that. Like, so it just feels weird. Uh, Camille, does it remind you of when, uh, when Arya Stark started having sex? Cause, uh, that I'll never forget how disgusted I was. I was like, that's a little child. That's a, that's a kid. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
[01:42:15] Thanks for reminding me of that. Everybody listening. Like we don't talk about that. We don't talk about Arya seducing. Was it Gendry? Dear God. Yeah. I was waiting for that, man. I was like, look at that. That's what's weird. Meanwhile, I was, we were all throwing, throwing tomatoes at the screen. I walked out. Okay. Okay. So we got, yeah, we got some weird Baylor content, uh, in this episode for sure with her, you know, like I said, I don't really know where this is going.
[01:42:43] If this is a, Hey, she's just outside kissing boys or if she trying to lock it down. Now, what does it look like though, for her to be trying to lock it down with one of Corlys's bastards, you know, cause he's not legitimized. Right. So for her to be out here slumming it with a bastard night, is that within, is that within like her Royal duties? Like, can she do that without people looking at her crazy? I mean, again, think about it. Right. She, she lamented in the last episode, where does she go from here? Right.
[01:43:11] Because in her mind, she was, yeah, she was supposed to be the queen of Westeros. Right. So now she has no prospect. She has no match. She doesn't really know what her life is going to look like. And even that I would have taken as like, maybe now I can go and be adventurous. But again, they never really, really, they never really present that side.
[01:43:34] So, I mean, here, if Alan is legitimized, it kind of answers all the questions. Right. Because if Alan's legitimized, if him and Bela hit it off, then you've, just solved the success, the Valerian succession right there.
[01:43:58] Because no matter what, even if Alan is, you know, questionable bastard stock or whatever, we know that Bela is from Lena. You know what I'm saying? And out of all of Corliss's machinations, the people who will end up inheriting his name will also have his blood, you know, if it were to work out like that. So, you know, it's not a bad premise. It's not a bad premise.
[01:44:29] Okay. We love Black love here. Even if it is like her cousin, uncle. Anything else? Yes. I hope they don't try to make it a triangle. Yeah. I don't want to see that. Yeah. I don't know why they did that. We had that scene with Adam and it just didn't make sense. Yeah. Because, right? Because, again, we're going from in the second episode where Bela, Alan, Adam, Corliss are
[01:44:56] staring at Driftmark burning and it's feeling like a family reunion. Yeah. It's a little cookout. A little cookout. A little cookout. Now it's like a singles mixer. Like, what are we doing? It might be a triangle, Camille. Like, I didn't, I could see that. He's going to see them kissing. He's going to be like, what? I was the one that was telling you to take a nap. I was the one that was telling her sleep. Yeah, it was me. I told you the rest, baby girl. Damn.
[01:45:25] You know they don't like the nice guy. You know how it go. Poor Adam. Yeah. So, with Damon, right? Did y'all, y'all caught that, like, when, before Damon sticks a knife in that guy's ear, he's like, you know, we're for Damon the Daring, right?
[01:45:47] So, Damon gets this nickname, Damon the Daring, because before Tumbleton, you know, they're winning small battles. And the propaganda is that Darren is on to Sarian. He's helping win the small skirmishes and the reach. He gets the name Damon the Daring. He gets knighted. He's young. He's 16.
[01:46:16] And it's a lot of propaganda in this version and the show version, because we haven't seen Darren do much of anything. And Ormond is actively pitching him as a figurehead. And, again, he's using that propaganda to get people. He said, you are now the king. He's calling him your grace. He's announcing everywhere. Aegon's dead. Aemon killed him and has run off.
[01:46:44] So, been the need to day, Ron. And I think this is an interesting take. It's, again, they're taking the agency out of the book from somebody's hand. Because in the book, Dayron was doing this. Dayron was dashing. Dayron was actually everything that his two brothers weren't. Because he learned in Old Town, he was dashing. He was smart. He could play instruments.
[01:47:13] He was very bold because he wanted to help. He wanted to get on his dragon and help. He was a much bigger presence. And he was, like, an actual, like, contender for the throne. Here, he's, you know, he's a puppet for Ormond. And I think it's interesting. And I'm like, well, at least they didn't just do that to Rhaenyra and Allison. Because we talked about them changing their agency over the course of the show.
[01:47:42] So I thought that was interesting. I kind of like it. They use it to gas up Ormond as a villain. Right? Yeah. So I don't mind that. I like that change. Me too. I do have one more thing. Ooh. Mm-hmm. The name of the episode is Faceless Men. Yeah. And I could have sworn that the Faceless Men happened long before any of this ever happened. Well, the Faceless Men.
[01:48:09] But they made it seem like that guy, because you brought up the guy that got stabbed in the ear. They made him sound and seem like a sect of the Faceless Men. Or like, you know what I'm saying? Like, I didn't understand they were trying to make it any kind of... But why would they call the episode Faceless Men? That's a good point. He said something like, there are a bunch of us. There are millions of... Yeah. We're everywhere. And I was like, you know... Is he one of the face snatchers? Remember, this is...
[01:48:35] This takes place 170 years before Game of Thrones. Right? So, the Faceless Men, depending on when the order starts across Braavos, it's not entirely unheard of that, like... There was a lot of assassination attempts in this episode. So, that's why I think it was just... It was just alluding to. It was alluding to the assassinations of, like, the Gold Cloaks.
[01:49:04] It was alluding to the attempted assassination of Ormond and Dayron. You know, it's just... They're dragging it. I just... That's how I took it. It's just like... It's the Faceless Men for assassination. And I wonder if it's kind of like a double entendre of about, like... Because Ormond also says the small folk, they're unimportant. You know?
[01:49:33] Like, they're the Faceless Men. And the small folk and those people are the ones that can really turn the tide in a battle. And your public perception of you, which is what Rainier is learning, is like... You know, can be a problem. You know? So, that's how I took it. For me. I'm always looking for some, like, deeper thing. No, I know. To the point. Because they named the episode. They named the episode after it.
[01:50:01] So, it's like, you clearly want us to at least acknowledge it. Yeah. And I mean, and then now we also know Bull John, you know, does his thing with Corlys. So, yeah. I just think... I just think it's a reference to all the assassination attempts. All right. Book Corner? Last thing. Last thing. Vhagar. Yeah. Yeah. Again, I said it in the... Big mama. I said it in the main thing. I like that. That's a change.
[01:50:30] Because in the books, Aemond was on Vhagar. And he was coming down, burning the river... The river men up. Burning the riverside. Just causing chaos. Flying away. Causing chaos. Flying away. So, the fact that they change it to like... Aemond isn't doing it. It's just Vhagar doing that. And she's just doing it to kind of like eat. Like, you know what I mean? I kind of like that.
[01:50:55] But again, it also does take away kind of like the meaner streak of Aemond. Because in the books, that's what he's seen as cruel. Because he's just burning up these random villages. And he's doing it to draw out Daemond. And it's like a calculated thing. But here in the show, it's just like... You know, I like the thought of Vhagar is staying away. So that she doesn't give up his positioning long enough for him to heal.
[01:51:25] Yeah. I always look at... When you tell me about the book stuff. I always look at it like... That's word of mouth. So, people embellish. You know? So, it's like... Yeah, I saw the dragon coming down. And then by the time you told the 14th person. It's like... Yeah, and Aemond was on it. And he was burning... Meanwhile... You know? And the dragon was out there wild. And Aemond wasn't on it. But, you know... As we played the game of Telephone. It became something that's not. Same thing with Rhaenyra, right? She'll be known as Rhaenyra the Cruel. Or whatever. Or like, you know... The teat of Magar. Or whatever.
[01:51:55] But it's kind of like... If you told this story... This is a less compelling story to be telling out in the streets. Like, yeah, she was cool. But, you know... PR was bad. And, you know... You know, money. That's not what... You don't sing songs about the way this thing's going down. You know? I think the book is the... Like you said... Like... You pass them... There's kind of these cool stories. And I like that we get both versions of it. Right? Like, you know the book stuff. But then we get the TV version to kind of say like... All right. Well, this is what would have happened. This is what you would have seen if you had the live feeds.
[01:52:25] You know what I'm saying? So... That's kind of... A different vibe. But, yeah. Anything else for the book corner? That's it. You know my... I said G-Wayne. G-Wayne been big. So everything they do with him is just... It's cool. I like it. Yeah. We love Wayne. He wants me over in this one. But, yeah. Okay. Cool. Well, that's the episode. That is the book corner. And we will be back next Sunday to talk about episode seven.
[01:52:55] Camille, thank you for joining us. Thank you so much for having me. I'm going to tell you because I watch every one of your guys' things. Half the time I'm sitting here, I'm listening to you guys. I have to remind myself that I'm not listening. That I'm actually like... That you're in the conversation. That's us. Camille, what are you doing? I connect too. I'm listening all the time. Oh, yeah. But, no. Thank you so much. I really enjoyed being on and getting to celebrate the death of Kristen Cole.
[01:53:23] Or, actually, the non-celebration death of Kristen Cole. Because there was nothing to celebrate. No songs will be written. No songs. No liquor will be poured. No. And, matter of fact, the two... The people at the council, they were put in there for comedic purpose. You know what I'm saying? Like, to just completely flip us from that to... You know what I'm saying? To laugh at me. Yeah. So, yeah. I'm glad that he went out the way that he did. I feel so much smarter, Mari, every time I listen to you. Oh, my God. And, yeah.
[01:53:53] No, I'm just so thankful. Thank you so much for having me. No worries. So happy to have you back. Anytime. Anytime. But, tell everybody once again where they can find you.
