[00:00:18] [SPEAKER_01]: Welcome back to Recap Kickback. It's me, your host Chappelle, and I am happy to be back to talk about something we touched on a little bit before on Recap Kickback, which is our favorite topic here, Tyler Perry movies. And with me, fresh out of the House of the Dragon recap that we were doing for the West Rose Recap Kickback here on RecapKickback.com. It's Mari. Mari, what's good?
[00:00:41] [SPEAKER_02]: Hey, we're back to talk about another Tyler Perry movie because why?
[00:00:48] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, Mari, look alive. We got to be excited. This is Tyler Perry.
[00:00:51] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, yeah.
[00:00:53] [SPEAKER_02]: TP.
[00:00:54] [SPEAKER_02]: Yes. No, no, it's it's funny. Like he knows what to do in order to get the clickbait, in order to get the attention, in order to get people talking.
[00:01:05] [SPEAKER_02]: So we have to be here. We have to talk about it. Yes, the movie came out a while ago, but it's still in the news. It's still causing traction.
[00:01:13] [SPEAKER_02]: So, you know, we had to come and break it down like only we can.
[00:01:18] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, we got to talk about it. And yeah, I think the big question of the day is, is Tyler Perry serious? Is he really doing this or is this all just to get people to click on it and to find out what it is?
[00:01:28] [SPEAKER_01]: This is all for shock value. And so not to shock everybody, but we do have our special guest here for the first time ever.
[00:01:34] [SPEAKER_01]: OK, I've been begging for her to appear on this podcast, but we brought in our own clickbait.
[00:01:38] [SPEAKER_01]: It's Asia. Asia, what's up?
[00:01:42] [SPEAKER_00]: Hello. Hello. Hello.
[00:01:43] [SPEAKER_00]: I love any opportunity to podcast with y'all.
[00:01:47] [SPEAKER_00]: And there's only two people in this world who could make me finish this movie because I would have been out 20 minutes in seven minutes and really.
[00:01:59] [SPEAKER_00]: But if I would have been like, OK, let me see it through.
[00:02:03] [SPEAKER_00]: Then I probably would have cut out at 20 minutes.
[00:02:05] [SPEAKER_00]: Not going to lie. But I did it for y'all.
[00:02:08] [SPEAKER_01]: Well, thank you. Yeah.
[00:02:09] [SPEAKER_01]: We're so happy to have you here on Recap Kickback.
[00:02:11] [SPEAKER_01]: Asia, tell everybody a little bit about you since you're a first time guest here.
[00:02:14] [SPEAKER_01]: And some of the Recap Kickback people might not be familiar with your other works.
[00:02:18] [SPEAKER_00]: Yes. So I have been podcasting for Rob has a podcast for the past four years, which is wild to think about.
[00:02:26] [SPEAKER_00]: I talk about shows like Big Brother, which talking about Big Brother 26 right now.
[00:02:33] [SPEAKER_00]: I host The Perfect Match over with Jason Reed talking about the show Married at First Sight.
[00:02:39] [SPEAKER_00]: So we've been talking about that show for about, I don't know, four or five seasons, five or six seasons, which is kind of wild to think about.
[00:02:48] [SPEAKER_00]: I also co-host a podcast on Rob has a podcast about Love is Blind with Mary Krakowski.
[00:02:56] [SPEAKER_00]: So we've talked about a few of those seasons, talked about also talked about The Ultimatum, talked about Perfect Match on Netflix.
[00:03:03] [SPEAKER_00]: So I like the unconventional dating shows is kind of my specialty.
[00:03:08] [SPEAKER_02]: Are you watching Love is Blind UK?
[00:03:11] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm not, but I do want to catch up. I've heard it's really good.
[00:03:14] [SPEAKER_00]: I haven't started it. I'm trying to get through Too Hot to Handle.
[00:03:18] [SPEAKER_02]: And why? Ew.
[00:03:21] [SPEAKER_02]: I gave up on Too Hot to Handle like season two.
[00:03:24] [SPEAKER_00]: Like, I don't know. Something just keeps pulling me back in.
[00:03:27] [SPEAKER_00]: But yes, what about Love is Blind?
[00:03:31] [SPEAKER_02]: No, I was going to say, and if for our like day ones, day ones, day ones, the connect going all the way back to the connect days,
[00:03:39] [SPEAKER_02]: they should recognize you from me and you doing the other black girl over on Post Show Recaps, the connect.
[00:03:46] [SPEAKER_02]: So it's a reunion.
[00:03:50] [SPEAKER_02]: And it feels so good.
[00:03:52] [SPEAKER_00]: Yes. So that was honestly such a fun time.
[00:03:57] [SPEAKER_00]: Like, I wish the show was longer.
[00:03:58] [SPEAKER_00]: So we had an excuse to keep podcasting together.
[00:04:01] [SPEAKER_00]: And like, you know, if it's to Jason, Jason Reed, you're amazing.
[00:04:05] [SPEAKER_00]: I have a great time podcasting with you.
[00:04:06] [SPEAKER_00]: But that was like some of the funnest times I've had podcasting because it just felt like a conversation.
[00:04:11] [SPEAKER_00]: Like, it just felt like we were like talking about a show we were watching.
[00:04:14] [SPEAKER_02]: Yes. It was amazing.
[00:04:15] [SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
[00:04:16] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. Well, you can still check out that coverage on the connect on Post Show Recaps feed because it still exists.
[00:04:22] [SPEAKER_01]: Yes. It still exists.
[00:04:23] [SPEAKER_01]: And so you can check that out to keep up with some of the older stuff that we talked about.
[00:04:28] [SPEAKER_01]: Of course, what Asia and Mari talked about.
[00:04:30] [SPEAKER_01]: But let's talk about what's coming here on Recap Kickback.
[00:04:32] [SPEAKER_01]: Mari, this week, Bel Air is coming back.
[00:04:35] [SPEAKER_01]: And so, yeah, Pooja and I will be bringing back our coverage of Bel Air.
[00:04:39] [SPEAKER_01]: We've talked about season one and season two on Bel Air, a Post Show Recap.
[00:04:42] [SPEAKER_01]: But we are bringing that to Recap Kickback as well.
[00:04:44] [SPEAKER_01]: So if you subscribe to that podcast, you can catch all of that here on Recap Kickback because I think three episodes are dropping this week.
[00:04:52] [SPEAKER_01]: And so they should be out by the time this podcast is released as well.
[00:04:56] [SPEAKER_01]: So catch that and listen to Pooja and I talking about that.
[00:05:00] [SPEAKER_01]: Mari, is there anything else we have coming up that's pressing right now?
[00:05:04] [SPEAKER_01]: We have something in the works.
[00:05:06] [SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
[00:05:08] [SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
[00:05:08] [SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
[00:05:09] [SPEAKER_02]: Big things coming.
[00:05:10] [SPEAKER_02]: Big things popping.
[00:05:11] [SPEAKER_02]: Related to like one of my other podcasts, the Crime Scene Podcast.
[00:05:15] [SPEAKER_02]: That's a little hint for you guys.
[00:05:17] [SPEAKER_02]: So just make sure you're subscribed to the Recap Kickback so you don't miss any of our content coming.
[00:05:22] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[00:05:22] [SPEAKER_01]: And I think me and Tyrone are going to be talking about Mr. Throwback soon as well.
[00:05:25] [SPEAKER_01]: The Steph Curry series that is on, at least on Hulu maybe or Peacock.
[00:05:30] [SPEAKER_01]: No, it's on Peacock.
[00:05:31] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's on Peacock.
[00:05:32] [SPEAKER_01]: So check that out and more about it.
[00:05:34] [SPEAKER_00]: Metalist?
[00:05:35] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[00:05:36] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, old metalist.
[00:05:36] [SPEAKER_00]: The Steph Curry.
[00:05:37] [SPEAKER_01]: Exactly.
[00:05:38] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[00:05:39] [SPEAKER_01]: So check it out.
[00:05:39] [SPEAKER_01]: Recapkickback.com slash subscribe.
[00:05:41] [SPEAKER_01]: And then, of course, you can catch us here on the YouTube channel, youtube.com slash at Recapkickback.
[00:05:47] [SPEAKER_01]: So now that that's out the way, let's talk about this movie.
[00:05:51] [SPEAKER_01]: So just a little peek behind the curtain.
[00:05:54] [SPEAKER_01]: We weren't going to talk about this movie.
[00:05:55] [SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
[00:05:56] [SPEAKER_01]: Initially, we were going to talk about it.
[00:05:58] [SPEAKER_01]: It was hot.
[00:05:59] [SPEAKER_01]: I kept hearing about this crazy scene where a woman removes her kid from a casket in a church.
[00:06:04] [SPEAKER_01]: And I was like, all right, we got to watch it because everybody's talking about it.
[00:06:08] [SPEAKER_01]: But, you know, due to scheduling, we couldn't work that out.
[00:06:11] [SPEAKER_01]: So we kind of missed our moment.
[00:06:13] [SPEAKER_01]: But recently, I was talking to Mari about what was coming up next.
[00:06:17] [SPEAKER_01]: And I came across an article and it was tweeted out by one of my favorite accounts on Twitter.
[00:06:23] [SPEAKER_01]: Phil underscore Lewis, the Philip Lewis account.
[00:06:25] [SPEAKER_01]: Great journalist.
[00:06:26] [SPEAKER_01]: But also, he keeps you posted on some of the Black people news.
[00:06:31] [SPEAKER_01]: Exactly.
[00:06:31] [SPEAKER_01]: And this week in Black people news, we find out that Tyler Perry's Divorcing the Black drives more U.S. Prime video subscriptions than any other Amazon, MGM movie studio says.
[00:06:43] [SPEAKER_01]: So this movie has been a phenomenon on Prime video.
[00:06:52] [SPEAKER_01]: You might not like this movie.
[00:06:54] [SPEAKER_01]: You might even hate this movie.
[00:06:55] [SPEAKER_01]: But the numbers don't lie.
[00:06:57] [SPEAKER_01]: It came in, I believe, number three in July behind Axel F and If on Paramount Plus.
[00:07:04] [SPEAKER_01]: Axel F on Netflix, of course, being the fourth iteration of the Beverly Hills Cop franchise.
[00:07:09] [SPEAKER_01]: And I think it has, what is it, 498 million minutes streamed so far as of January.
[00:07:17] [SPEAKER_01]: And an estimated 3.5 million views total.
[00:07:20] [SPEAKER_01]: So everybody like this but us.
[00:07:23] [SPEAKER_01]: What's going on, Mari?
[00:07:25] [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, it's so funny, right?
[00:07:27] [SPEAKER_02]: Because one of my friends from college who I hadn't seen in like a few years came to visit me a few months, like back in the end of June.
[00:07:39] [SPEAKER_02]: And we was just, you know, you niggas.
[00:07:43] [SPEAKER_02]: And so we was like, well, let's watch something.
[00:07:46] [SPEAKER_02]: And so I was like, OK, let's watch Divorce in the Black.
[00:07:49] [SPEAKER_02]: It's the only time I'm going to have somebody to watch it.
[00:07:53] [SPEAKER_02]: And we don't kiki about it.
[00:07:54] [SPEAKER_02]: And this is the time when people are like, oh, my God, just watch the first seven minutes.
[00:07:58] [SPEAKER_02]: Watch the first eight minutes.
[00:07:59] [SPEAKER_02]: I didn't see the clip.
[00:08:00] [SPEAKER_02]: I just heard people saying like, Tyler Perry should be put down just for that first eight.
[00:08:06] [SPEAKER_02]: And I was like, what?
[00:08:08] [SPEAKER_02]: OK, let's watch the first eight minutes.
[00:08:10] [SPEAKER_02]: We watched the first eight minutes.
[00:08:11] [SPEAKER_02]: We are on our couch.
[00:08:12] [SPEAKER_02]: And as soon as that lady stood up, I turned to my friend.
[00:08:15] [SPEAKER_02]: I said, she's going to make them take that body out of the cast.
[00:08:18] [SPEAKER_02]: You knew?
[00:08:21] [SPEAKER_02]: Immediately.
[00:08:22] [SPEAKER_02]: Immediately.
[00:08:24] [SPEAKER_02]: My friend was like, huh?
[00:08:25] [SPEAKER_02]: I was like, that body is coming out of that cast.
[00:08:28] [SPEAKER_02]: And lo and behold, they lifted that man up.
[00:08:34] [SPEAKER_02]: Like, they took that body.
[00:08:36] [SPEAKER_02]: Get him.
[00:08:38] [SPEAKER_02]: Get Cody.
[00:08:40] [SPEAKER_02]: No.
[00:08:41] [SPEAKER_02]: Lee the cat.
[00:08:42] [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, oh, my God.
[00:08:44] [SPEAKER_02]: I was just like, OK.
[00:08:46] [SPEAKER_02]: And then I quickly proceeded to like fall asleep 10 minutes later.
[00:08:50] [SPEAKER_02]: And she watched the rest of it.
[00:08:53] [SPEAKER_02]: And when I woke up, she was like, it actually wasn't that bad.
[00:08:56] [SPEAKER_02]: She was like, I think you should watch it.
[00:08:58] [SPEAKER_02]: I was like, yeah, yeah, yeah.
[00:09:00] [SPEAKER_02]: I'll watch.
[00:09:00] [SPEAKER_02]: I'll finish it one day.
[00:09:02] [SPEAKER_02]: And that day is today because I had to.
[00:09:05] [SPEAKER_02]: I was forced here.
[00:09:07] [SPEAKER_02]: So ridiculous.
[00:09:10] [SPEAKER_02]: That's all I can say.
[00:09:10] [SPEAKER_02]: Like, I understand.
[00:09:11] [SPEAKER_02]: I completely understand why it went viral when it did with that first seven minutes.
[00:09:18] [SPEAKER_01]: Mm hmm.
[00:09:19] [SPEAKER_01]: And Asia, was this on your radar as well?
[00:09:22] [SPEAKER_01]: Or did I did we put this on your radar when we decided that we were going to talk about
[00:09:25] [SPEAKER_01]: this on Recap Kickback?
[00:09:26] [SPEAKER_00]: You know, I had seen people talk about it, but not enough to have seen like I never came
[00:09:32] [SPEAKER_00]: across any of the TikToks that showed the scene, nor did I hear anybody talk about the
[00:09:37] [SPEAKER_00]: scene.
[00:09:37] [SPEAKER_00]: I just heard that it was like a typical Tyler Perry movie.
[00:09:40] [SPEAKER_00]: And after Mea Culpa, I was like, which I only watched because Kelly Rowland was in it.
[00:09:51] [SPEAKER_00]: And when when y'all said like, let's watch it.
[00:09:55] [SPEAKER_00]: OK, so I was completely I mean, I wasn't like surprised that that happened, because when she
[00:09:59] [SPEAKER_00]: said get him, I knew like the first get him out of the casket, because then it was like
[00:10:06] [SPEAKER_00]: they started, you know, and then she's like, no, of course, you just got to she got to make
[00:10:10] [SPEAKER_00]: it clear.
[00:10:12] [SPEAKER_00]: And so I was like, OK, so that's what we're doing with this movie.
[00:10:17] [SPEAKER_00]: So just I knew.
[00:10:19] [SPEAKER_00]: So like, yes, absurd as the whole movie is absurd.
[00:10:22] [SPEAKER_00]: But I do feel like I was able to kind of like relax and like watch it if I saw it as
[00:10:32] [SPEAKER_00]: a comedy rather than as a drama that Tyler Perry intended it to be, which is like wild
[00:10:39] [SPEAKER_00]: because I mean, have y'all heard of that?
[00:10:41] [SPEAKER_00]: Like that old movie that.
[00:10:43] [SPEAKER_00]: Well, I'm sure you have called The Room.
[00:10:46] [SPEAKER_01]: I've heard of The Room.
[00:10:46] [SPEAKER_00]: OK, where they had they spoofed it.
[00:10:48] [SPEAKER_00]: So the guy that made The Room intended for it to be a drama like this.
[00:10:55] [SPEAKER_00]: And then it was like it came out and everybody saw it as a comedy.
[00:10:59] [SPEAKER_00]: And that's why I did so well, because it was like just so absurd.
[00:11:02] [SPEAKER_00]: And so I was like this reminded me of that because I was just like this was awful.
[00:11:08] [SPEAKER_00]: And to to my with my viewing experience, I was like, I didn't enjoy this one bit as a drama.
[00:11:16] [SPEAKER_00]: But if I looked at it as a comedy, it was pretty good.
[00:11:21] [SPEAKER_02]: Right.
[00:11:22] [SPEAKER_00]: Pretty solid movie.
[00:11:24] [SPEAKER_01]: That's funny.
[00:11:26] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[00:11:26] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I saw the same thing y'all thought people were talking about it.
[00:11:29] [SPEAKER_01]: It was it was going viral in a way that, you know, I get on Facebook.
[00:11:34] [SPEAKER_01]: That's what if you ever want to know anybody's review about Tyler Perry movie, just go on
[00:11:37] [SPEAKER_01]: Facebook for five seconds and you'll see it at least at least on my feed.
[00:11:40] [SPEAKER_01]: That's how I guess that's how my black ass feed is set up.
[00:11:42] [SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, I actually saw a story today of somebody who was like in their 20s.
[00:11:49] [SPEAKER_00]: They posted they like, oh, this would have did numbers on Facebook.
[00:11:53] [SPEAKER_00]: It could do numbers today.
[00:11:56] [SPEAKER_00]: You're right.
[00:11:56] [SPEAKER_00]: Right.
[00:11:57] [SPEAKER_00]: Exactly.
[00:11:58] [SPEAKER_01]: It was way back when Facebook and I guess that's where you can find us in the nursing home on Facebook.
[00:12:06] [SPEAKER_01]: Look, I saw the post and everybody goes saying like that.
[00:12:11] [SPEAKER_01]: What?
[00:12:12] [SPEAKER_01]: This funeral scene is crazy.
[00:12:13] [SPEAKER_01]: Tyler Perry arrest this man.
[00:12:14] [SPEAKER_01]: All this other stuff.
[00:12:15] [SPEAKER_01]: And I said, OK, I don't want to be spoiled.
[00:12:17] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't want to see the clips.
[00:12:18] [SPEAKER_01]: But I had already picked up on what was going to happen.
[00:12:21] [SPEAKER_01]: So I watched the movie thinking that it was somewhere down the line.
[00:12:25] [SPEAKER_01]: I know we were coming out the gate with the big reveal.
[00:12:27] [SPEAKER_01]: And so all that to say, I watched it and it felt it didn't feel like a typical Tyler Perry movie for a few reasons.
[00:12:36] [SPEAKER_01]: But it did feel cartoonish, you know, in a lot of ways.
[00:12:40] [SPEAKER_01]: And I definitely want to talk about that because Mari posed a really good question to me when we decided we're going to talk about this.
[00:12:45] [SPEAKER_01]: She said, is this clickbait?
[00:12:46] [SPEAKER_01]: Is Tyler Perry just putting absurd things into his movie so that people will watch it?
[00:12:51] [SPEAKER_01]: Obviously, based on the article, we just saw the numbers are reflecting that, yeah, people are subscribing just to be able to watch this one thing from MGM.
[00:13:00] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, like literally saying, all right, well, I didn't have a subscription, but I got to see what people are talking about.
[00:13:05] [SPEAKER_01]: Amari, you watched the whole movie.
[00:13:07] [SPEAKER_01]: Is there anything of note that you've ever heard anybody else talk about for this movie except for that scene?
[00:13:11] [SPEAKER_01]: Like outside of that scene, has anybody ranted or raved about anything else in this movie?
[00:13:17] [SPEAKER_02]: No, I mean, the only thing that I can even remotely think about is people did say Megan Good did a really good job in the role.
[00:13:24] [SPEAKER_02]: And I'm not going to lie.
[00:13:25] [SPEAKER_02]: And to that I say, yeah.
[00:13:27] [SPEAKER_02]: I think with what she was given, I feel like exactly like what we said about Kelly Rowland.
[00:13:32] [SPEAKER_02]: It's like with what she was given, she made it work.
[00:13:36] [SPEAKER_02]: Like, I'm not going to lie.
[00:13:38] [SPEAKER_02]: Like Megan Good was, it's just funny because she's like acting dramatically.
[00:13:42] [SPEAKER_02]: And it's just like.
[00:13:44] [SPEAKER_01]: But you're like, I guess that's what they wanted.
[00:13:46] [SPEAKER_01]: So there you go.
[00:13:46] [SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
[00:13:47] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[00:13:47] [SPEAKER_02]: She was conjuring them tears.
[00:13:50] [SPEAKER_02]: She was.
[00:13:50] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
[00:13:51] [SPEAKER_02]: She was in her feelings.
[00:13:52] [SPEAKER_02]: And I'm like, girl, you are doing good.
[00:13:54] [SPEAKER_02]: Now, does this make any sense?
[00:13:55] [SPEAKER_02]: No.
[00:13:58] [SPEAKER_02]: That's not her fault.
[00:14:00] [SPEAKER_02]: This is so funny because whenever I watch Tyler Perry movies, I'm always like, I'm always looking for like the.
[00:14:08] [SPEAKER_02]: What are you trying to tell us, Tyler?
[00:14:10] [SPEAKER_02]: Like, what are you trying to preach?
[00:14:11] [SPEAKER_02]: What's the moral of the story, Tyler?
[00:14:14] [SPEAKER_02]: Because that's how he's written his movies for the past umpteen years.
[00:14:20] [SPEAKER_02]: So going into this movie, I was like, OK, we know the template.
[00:14:24] [SPEAKER_02]: Abused woman tries to get away from a review.
[00:14:27] [SPEAKER_02]: There's a man there.
[00:14:28] [SPEAKER_02]: He's going to help her.
[00:14:30] [SPEAKER_02]: Like it's rinse and repeat.
[00:14:33] [SPEAKER_02]: And this was technically that.
[00:14:35] [SPEAKER_02]: This was the same old Tyler Perry movie just with a cowboy hat on.
[00:14:38] [SPEAKER_02]: And I guess he, I guess he knew.
[00:14:41] [SPEAKER_01]: It was the voice in the black dipped in red.
[00:14:45] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, it's like redneck.
[00:14:46] [SPEAKER_01]: It was redneck, but black.
[00:14:48] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, some of these moments.
[00:14:50] [SPEAKER_01]: Throwing that body in the back of a pickup truck.
[00:14:51] [SPEAKER_01]: That, yeah.
[00:14:53] [SPEAKER_01]: That was why.
[00:14:54] [SPEAKER_02]: To a whole family by their last name.
[00:14:56] [SPEAKER_02]: The Bertrand boys.
[00:14:57] [SPEAKER_02]: Like that is some country ass shit.
[00:14:59] [SPEAKER_02]: So like, um, I, it is that.
[00:15:03] [SPEAKER_02]: But the funny thing is, let me know what y'all think.
[00:15:07] [SPEAKER_02]: This is probably the most pro black woman movie that Tyler Perry has ever done in his life.
[00:15:14] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I really have to think about it.
[00:15:16] [SPEAKER_01]: Like we covered Mia Culpa.
[00:15:19] [SPEAKER_01]: And I can see that.
[00:15:20] [SPEAKER_01]: That wasn't.
[00:15:20] [SPEAKER_01]: No, because you came away from it blaming her.
[00:15:23] [SPEAKER_01]: So no.
[00:15:24] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I mean, should she not have been blamed?
[00:15:27] [SPEAKER_01]: Ma'am, get out of there.
[00:15:28] [SPEAKER_01]: Get out of that house.
[00:15:30] [SPEAKER_01]: Make better choices.
[00:15:31] [SPEAKER_01]: Make better decisions.
[00:15:33] [SPEAKER_01]: Um, here I will say that, um, I don't know, man.
[00:15:36] [SPEAKER_01]: Uh, if Megan Good gave us what she was supposed to be giving us, she looked real dumb throughout
[00:15:41] [SPEAKER_01]: this entire movie.
[00:15:42] [SPEAKER_01]: And I have a big question.
[00:15:44] [SPEAKER_01]: Not her fault.
[00:15:46] [SPEAKER_00]: Look, that's exactly how she was written.
[00:15:48] [SPEAKER_01]: Right.
[00:15:49] [SPEAKER_01]: And I'm not saying that's her fault.
[00:15:50] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm saying, I'm saying if that's being pro black woman, Asia, what are we supposed
[00:15:55] [SPEAKER_01]: to do with this?
[00:15:55] [SPEAKER_01]: I know.
[00:15:56] [SPEAKER_00]: Well, look.
[00:15:57] [SPEAKER_00]: I think at the end.
[00:15:58] [SPEAKER_00]: I think your point with it being clickbait, right?
[00:16:02] [SPEAKER_00]: That's valid.
[00:16:03] [SPEAKER_00]: But there is a large population out there that loves this.
[00:16:08] [SPEAKER_00]: I had to call my mom before we did this because I knew she was one of the many that I knew
[00:16:15] [SPEAKER_00]: before I even pressed her name that she was going to be like, that movie was good.
[00:16:20] [SPEAKER_00]: I said, Mom, what did you think?
[00:16:23] [SPEAKER_00]: She said, oh, I loved it.
[00:16:25] [SPEAKER_00]: I was so entertained.
[00:16:27] [SPEAKER_00]: She like she she said the main points that she thought everybody delivered their role.
[00:16:33] [SPEAKER_00]: She thought Corey delivered his role.
[00:16:35] [SPEAKER_00]: She thought.
[00:16:36] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, we'll talk about it.
[00:16:38] [SPEAKER_00]: She said he was he was so passionate.
[00:16:40] [SPEAKER_00]: He was into the role.
[00:16:42] [SPEAKER_00]: She was entertained every step of the way.
[00:16:44] [SPEAKER_00]: She was like, that's real.
[00:16:46] [SPEAKER_00]: Like narcissists really act like that.
[00:16:48] [SPEAKER_00]: And so she was like she felt like it was a you could see you could see this play out in real life in certain like in people.
[00:16:59] [SPEAKER_00]: Right.
[00:16:59] [SPEAKER_00]: And so that she just felt like it hit it hit on all the points that it was trying to hit.
[00:17:04] [SPEAKER_00]: And she thought it was great.
[00:17:07] [SPEAKER_00]: So she was very surprised when I said, Mom, that movie was awful.
[00:17:11] [SPEAKER_00]: Like what?
[00:17:13] [SPEAKER_00]: Did we watch the same thing?
[00:17:15] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm taking mine right now.
[00:17:16] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm talking about my mom.
[00:17:17] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[00:17:18] [SPEAKER_01]: I talked to my mom about it, too.
[00:17:19] [SPEAKER_01]: My mom would sound like in the moment she was a lot more excited about it.
[00:17:22] [SPEAKER_01]: But now she's kind of cooled on it.
[00:17:23] [SPEAKER_01]: It's been too long.
[00:17:25] [SPEAKER_01]: But I will say this.
[00:17:26] [SPEAKER_01]: She was entertained.
[00:17:28] [SPEAKER_01]: Now, whether or not it was good or bad, I don't know.
[00:17:30] [SPEAKER_01]: But to her, at least she was engaged in the story.
[00:17:33] [SPEAKER_01]: Right.
[00:17:33] [SPEAKER_01]: It's a very exciting, thrilling story if you really look at it.
[00:17:36] [SPEAKER_01]: But I do think that, you know, your mileage may vary on that kind of on that kind of fantastical story.
[00:17:43] [SPEAKER_01]: Right.
[00:17:43] [SPEAKER_01]: Like to say that anybody we could see this playing out like maybe.
[00:17:47] [SPEAKER_01]: But could you really see somebody pulling their kid out of a.
[00:17:50] [SPEAKER_01]: That's what I told her.
[00:17:51] [SPEAKER_00]: I said, could you see somebody pulling somebody out the cast?
[00:17:55] [SPEAKER_00]: And she said, well, I don't know about that.
[00:17:56] [SPEAKER_00]: So what about the pastor calling out the deceased family?
[00:17:59] [SPEAKER_00]: That was real.
[00:18:00] [SPEAKER_00]: She was like, well, I don't know about that.
[00:18:02] [SPEAKER_00]: I said, what about the man yelling for a divorce out of nowhere in the middle of a restaurant?
[00:18:08] [SPEAKER_00]: She's like, well, not that either.
[00:18:10] [SPEAKER_01]: Why don't this happen in my life?
[00:18:11] [SPEAKER_01]: Like, how come I ain't never been at a restaurant and heard somebody just stand up like, I want a divorce, woman.
[00:18:15] [SPEAKER_01]: Sign the papers.
[00:18:16] [SPEAKER_01]: Sign the papers.
[00:18:17] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, my God.
[00:18:18] [SPEAKER_02]: So my mom.
[00:18:19] [SPEAKER_02]: So my mom said, no, she didn't watch it.
[00:18:21] [SPEAKER_02]: She said she heard mixed reviews about it, which I'm shocked.
[00:18:24] [SPEAKER_02]: But then.
[00:18:25] [SPEAKER_02]: But then my TT was like, hey, yeah, I watched it.
[00:18:28] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm like, yeah, you did.
[00:18:30] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, you did.
[00:18:30] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, you did.
[00:18:31] [SPEAKER_02]: I know you did.
[00:18:32] [SPEAKER_02]: I don't know what you think about it.
[00:18:34] [SPEAKER_01]: So there are good things and there are bad things in this movie.
[00:18:37] [SPEAKER_01]: I really want to focus on the good things because I'm sure the bad things will just come out organically.
[00:18:41] [SPEAKER_01]: Can we let's talk about the cast?
[00:18:43] [SPEAKER_01]: We've heard one of the names, a couple of the names dropped so far.
[00:18:46] [SPEAKER_01]: But this is starring Megan Good, who we know is a icon in the black community.
[00:18:50] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know what her celebrity status is in like, you know, the larger Hollywood community.
[00:18:55] [SPEAKER_01]: But as far as black A-listers go, Mariah, she's solid on the A-list group, right?
[00:19:01] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, yeah.
[00:19:01] [SPEAKER_02]: Like a lot of black people.
[00:19:03] [SPEAKER_02]: Black people know Megan Good.
[00:19:04] [SPEAKER_02]: She's like black people famous.
[00:19:07] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, for sure.
[00:19:07] [SPEAKER_01]: For our entire life, we've known Megan Good.
[00:19:10] [SPEAKER_01]: What was it?
[00:19:10] [SPEAKER_01]: It was a cousin's Peter as a kid.
[00:19:12] [SPEAKER_01]: I think Eve's Bayou as well.
[00:19:15] [SPEAKER_01]: Friday.
[00:19:16] [SPEAKER_00]: Whatever she was in.
[00:19:17] [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, I guess I was Eve's Bayou where she was in with the mom from this movie.
[00:19:22] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[00:19:22] [SPEAKER_00]: She's known her since she was 14.
[00:19:25] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[00:19:26] [SPEAKER_00]: She's been in our lives forever.
[00:19:28] [SPEAKER_02]: And like I said, I don't care.
[00:19:29] [SPEAKER_02]: Megan Good was acting down like she really was.
[00:19:32] [SPEAKER_02]: Now, was it appropriate?
[00:19:35] [SPEAKER_02]: For this movie, yeah.
[00:19:36] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, for this movie.
[00:19:38] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[00:19:38] [SPEAKER_01]: She was our lead character here in this movie.
[00:19:42] [SPEAKER_01]: And she's played alongside the leading man here, I guess, will be Corey Hardick.
[00:19:49] [SPEAKER_01]: He plays Dallas in this.
[00:19:50] [SPEAKER_01]: I actually cannot remember if I've ever seen Corey Hardick in anything else.
[00:19:54] [SPEAKER_01]: Are y'all familiar with his work?
[00:19:55] [SPEAKER_01]: Asia, are you familiar with Corey outside of this?
[00:19:57] [SPEAKER_01]: So I watch All-American.
[00:20:00] [SPEAKER_00]: Gotcha.
[00:20:00] [SPEAKER_00]: I watch All-American Homecoming.
[00:20:11] [SPEAKER_00]: Mm-hmm.
[00:20:13] [SPEAKER_00]: Other things.
[00:20:14] [SPEAKER_00]: But for some reason, All-American.
[00:20:16] [SPEAKER_00]: All-American don't translate.
[00:20:19] [SPEAKER_00]: What?
[00:20:20] [SPEAKER_00]: It's one of those things where it's just like, you know what to expect.
[00:20:23] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm only in it at this point for the storylines just to see what was written.
[00:20:27] [SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, he plays a baseball coach on All-American Homecoming, which the final season is airing right now.
[00:20:35] [SPEAKER_00]: So that really is like the only thing that I've been really exposed to him on that I can like really remember.
[00:20:42] [SPEAKER_00]: He does okay.
[00:20:43] [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, it's how do you know?
[00:20:45] [SPEAKER_00]: There's nothing dynamic with like a baseball coach, but he is.
[00:20:49] [SPEAKER_00]: He's like the head baseball coach, like on the main team that the show is about.
[00:20:55] [SPEAKER_00]: So it was like I could see the range in him acting because he doesn't act like that on All-American.
[00:21:03] [SPEAKER_00]: But it was just it's just extreme.
[00:21:08] [SPEAKER_01]: Mari, did you know Corey Hardick from anything else or are you just familiar with him as?
[00:21:13] [SPEAKER_01]: He is.
[00:21:14] [SPEAKER_02]: He is ex-husband.
[00:21:16] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, he is ex-husband.
[00:21:19] [SPEAKER_02]: The first thing I always remember him from is Battle Los Angeles.
[00:21:24] [SPEAKER_02]: That yeah, that is like that is like the alien.
[00:21:27] [SPEAKER_02]: It was it was an alien movie, I believe.
[00:21:29] [SPEAKER_02]: That was like a and he was it came out when we were in school, when we were in school.
[00:21:35] [SPEAKER_02]: And I remember 2011, I believe.
[00:21:37] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
[00:21:38] [SPEAKER_02]: And he played like a soldier in it.
[00:21:40] [SPEAKER_02]: And I remember thinking that he did a really good job in that.
[00:21:43] [SPEAKER_02]: Like he had like, if I remember correctly, like a really standout like Valerie soldiery moment, you know, like I think before his character died.
[00:21:51] [SPEAKER_02]: So that's that's the main thing I remember him from because I remember people were like, oh, that's that's Tia's husband.
[00:21:56] [SPEAKER_02]: And that is literally it.
[00:21:59] [SPEAKER_02]: And that was from, what, 13 years ago.
[00:22:01] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I checked his IMDb just now.
[00:22:04] [SPEAKER_01]: And one of his first acting creds, if you go down far enough, you will see that his first acting cred is he's credited as a kid in the show Smart Guy.
[00:22:13] [SPEAKER_01]: And I find that to be really interesting, considering that he goes from Smart Guy as his first acting role to be best known, I think.
[00:22:21] [SPEAKER_01]: And this is not no disrespect to him and his legacy as an actor, but best known for his relationship with Tia that ended in 2023.
[00:22:28] [SPEAKER_01]: But I had never seen him act before.
[00:22:30] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't think I've ever seen anything that he's done, except for probably that episode of Smart Guy that I don't remember.
[00:22:35] [SPEAKER_01]: But I thought, again, just like Megan Good, I thought he did what was asked of him, you know, a narcissistic behavior.
[00:22:43] [SPEAKER_01]: I wouldn't I don't want to diagnose the man.
[00:22:45] [SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, it was given a lot of mood swings and stuff like that.
[00:22:47] [SPEAKER_01]: I'd probably I'd have to venture out and say maybe some bipolar tendencies as well.
[00:22:51] [SPEAKER_01]: So and a lot of abuse, a lot of abusiveness, a lot of addiction.
[00:22:55] [SPEAKER_01]: It was a lot in one character.
[00:22:57] [SPEAKER_01]: And I think he handled it pretty well.
[00:22:59] [SPEAKER_01]: So interesting to talk about some of these bigger scenes with him in it because he's a big part of the plot, of course.
[00:23:05] [SPEAKER_01]: And then Asia mentioned as well, Debbie Morgan, who played a mother and well, not the mother, she played the aunt, I believe, in East Bayou.
[00:23:14] [SPEAKER_01]: She goes on to play in this, the mom of Megan Good's character.
[00:23:19] [SPEAKER_01]: She plays Jean in this Divorce in the Black.
[00:23:22] [SPEAKER_01]: And I was happy because Debbie Morgan is a legend.
[00:23:25] [SPEAKER_01]: But I was also kind of thinking, like, dang, we've got to find better things for Debbie Morgan to do.
[00:23:32] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, because there's this scene in the grocery store.
[00:23:37] [SPEAKER_01]: OK, and I just can't.
[00:23:39] [SPEAKER_01]: It's that is what you know, people were talking about how the body getting pulled out, the casket stands out.
[00:23:43] [SPEAKER_01]: That does come a bit.
[00:23:45] [SPEAKER_01]: But the scene where she's in the grocery store and she goes to confront this abusive husband.
[00:23:49] [SPEAKER_01]: And she's like, you're the devil.
[00:23:51] [SPEAKER_01]: You're the devil.
[00:23:51] [SPEAKER_01]: I was like, lady, lady, this man been beating your wife, your daughter up.
[00:23:55] [SPEAKER_01]: And he about to hit you, too.
[00:23:56] [SPEAKER_01]: Yelling at you, the devil ain't going to help.
[00:23:58] [SPEAKER_01]: You need to go to the where are the police?
[00:24:00] [SPEAKER_01]: Where's the gun?
[00:24:01] [SPEAKER_01]: You know what I'm saying?
[00:24:03] [SPEAKER_01]: You can't fight him.
[00:24:04] [SPEAKER_01]: She just runs out like, you know, God, I don't get you.
[00:24:07] [SPEAKER_01]: It's like, no, girl, get out.
[00:24:09] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, but every time they showed the cop, he looked like he didn't know what was going on.
[00:24:14] [SPEAKER_02]: He wasn't.
[00:24:15] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, he wasn't.
[00:24:16] [SPEAKER_01]: He wasn't really tapped in.
[00:24:18] [SPEAKER_01]: So, yeah, a lot.
[00:24:19] [SPEAKER_01]: It was a wacky scene, but I was happy to see her.
[00:24:22] [SPEAKER_01]: But her husband in this.
[00:24:24] [SPEAKER_01]: So if we talk about divorces.
[00:24:25] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I would.
[00:24:27] [SPEAKER_01]: On the topic.
[00:24:28] [SPEAKER_01]: Just like.
[00:24:29] [SPEAKER_01]: Maurice, you see your Uncle Richard in this.
[00:24:31] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
[00:24:32] [SPEAKER_02]: Ex-Mr. Tina Lawson.
[00:24:35] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
[00:24:37] [SPEAKER_02]: We still looking at you sideways, sir.
[00:24:41] [SPEAKER_01]: Uncle Richard a freak.
[00:24:43] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[00:24:44] [SPEAKER_02]: Very, very interesting that he's here.
[00:24:47] [SPEAKER_01]: What do you think about Richard Lawson in this?
[00:24:50] [SPEAKER_02]: Again, over the top.
[00:24:52] [SPEAKER_02]: Like, grab-mouthing somebody at their funeral.
[00:24:56] [SPEAKER_02]: Grabbing after that altercation in the grocery store.
[00:24:59] [SPEAKER_02]: He got upset and he grabbed his gun and decided to go down to the trailer park where the Bert
[00:25:05] [SPEAKER_02]: Tran boys are.
[00:25:06] [SPEAKER_02]: Like, he won't go and get his ass with his ass.
[00:25:09] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[00:25:09] [SPEAKER_00]: Literally, you, like, walked into it and thought, what?
[00:25:13] [SPEAKER_00]: Nothing was going to happen.
[00:25:16] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, my God.
[00:25:17] [SPEAKER_02]: And we got, okay.
[00:25:18] [SPEAKER_02]: I don't know when you want to talk about this, but.
[00:25:19] [SPEAKER_02]: Go ahead.
[00:25:20] [SPEAKER_02]: No, go ahead.
[00:25:21] [SPEAKER_02]: We're just making our way.
[00:25:22] [SPEAKER_02]: So the whole premise of the movie is, like, Megan Good and her husband, they were from
[00:25:27] [SPEAKER_02]: this small town in Georgia.
[00:25:29] [SPEAKER_02]: And they keep emphasizing that this small town in Georgia is an hour and a half away
[00:25:34] [SPEAKER_02]: from Atlanta, where they live.
[00:25:36] [SPEAKER_02]: They kind of, like, got out.
[00:25:38] [SPEAKER_02]: She, quote-unquote, brought him to Atlanta, to the big city.
[00:25:41] [SPEAKER_02]: He got away from his country-ass brothers and his mama.
[00:25:45] [SPEAKER_02]: But his mama and his brother still have a hold on him.
[00:25:49] [SPEAKER_02]: And, you know, he's done some things.
[00:25:52] [SPEAKER_02]: And so he beats her and stuff like that.
[00:25:56] [SPEAKER_02]: All I could keep thinking about every time a scene happened was, like, this took an hour
[00:26:02] [SPEAKER_02]: and a half to get you here.
[00:26:03] [SPEAKER_02]: It was very an acrimony moment.
[00:26:05] [SPEAKER_02]: Because, like, one minute he's at their house in Atlanta stalking her.
[00:26:10] [SPEAKER_02]: And the next minute he's in the grocery store assaulting her mother.
[00:26:15] [SPEAKER_02]: Then her father goes straight from finding out about the grocery store to his house.
[00:26:20] [SPEAKER_02]: But she's like, Mama, we're on our way.
[00:26:22] [SPEAKER_02]: It's going to take us an hour.
[00:26:26] [SPEAKER_02]: It's like, so he got his ass beat.
[00:26:29] [SPEAKER_02]: Was he laying there for an hour?
[00:26:32] [SPEAKER_02]: They had to go all the way out to get him.
[00:26:34] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
[00:26:34] [SPEAKER_02]: To get him.
[00:26:35] [SPEAKER_02]: And then what pissed me off later, like, literally 20 minutes later, they're all at the hospital.
[00:26:41] [SPEAKER_02]: And she goes and steals her new boyfriend's car to set up the end game.
[00:26:46] [SPEAKER_02]: And he is looking for her.
[00:26:48] [SPEAKER_02]: So he goes to her parents' house.
[00:26:50] [SPEAKER_02]: And he's like, I'm in your mother's car.
[00:26:52] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm at your parents' house.
[00:26:53] [SPEAKER_02]: I was like, wait.
[00:26:54] [SPEAKER_02]: So her mother had a car this whole time?
[00:26:56] [SPEAKER_02]: The mother couldn't go and check up on the...
[00:26:57] [SPEAKER_03]: She stole your car.
[00:26:59] [SPEAKER_02]: No, the mother couldn't check up on the father who was laying in the trailer for her.
[00:27:06] [SPEAKER_01]: She didn't want to go there and end up laying down tomorrow.
[00:27:09] [SPEAKER_01]: Dang.
[00:27:10] [SPEAKER_02]: I couldn't...
[00:27:11] [SPEAKER_02]: I couldn't...
[00:27:12] [SPEAKER_02]: I just couldn't...
[00:27:13] [SPEAKER_02]: Or again, call them police.
[00:27:16] [SPEAKER_02]: Like, there had to have been a better solution than waiting in an hour.
[00:27:22] [SPEAKER_02]: Like, I couldn't stop thinking about that.
[00:27:24] [SPEAKER_02]: Because they just kept saying, it takes an hour and a half.
[00:27:26] [SPEAKER_02]: It takes an hour and a half.
[00:27:27] [SPEAKER_02]: But people would just be, like, popping up on both sides.
[00:27:30] [SPEAKER_02]: They were just going back and forth between the country and the city.
[00:27:33] [SPEAKER_02]: The country and the city.
[00:27:34] [SPEAKER_02]: And I was just dying.
[00:27:37] [SPEAKER_00]: It's...
[00:27:37] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[00:27:38] [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, maybe it's different there.
[00:27:41] [SPEAKER_00]: Like, and from Tyler Perry's perspective, he probably thinks, oh, you got away like an hour and a half.
[00:27:46] [SPEAKER_00]: Like, Houston is an hour and a half away from Houston.
[00:27:48] [SPEAKER_00]: So it was like, for me, that little detail was like, okay, you're going across the town.
[00:27:55] [SPEAKER_00]: So literally, it takes that long to get anywhere.
[00:28:00] [SPEAKER_00]: But you'll go.
[00:28:01] [SPEAKER_00]: Because you're like, I need to go there.
[00:28:03] [SPEAKER_00]: So, yeah, that little detail.
[00:28:06] [SPEAKER_00]: Like, what was the point of the unnecessary, like, the commute?
[00:28:09] [SPEAKER_00]: I guess to just show that they got out.
[00:28:11] [SPEAKER_02]: They said it over and over again.
[00:28:12] [SPEAKER_02]: They said it over and over again.
[00:28:15] [SPEAKER_01]: They needed us to know that the trailer park and all that.
[00:28:17] [SPEAKER_01]: That small town was so far away.
[00:28:19] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, she had gotten her man out of there.
[00:28:22] [SPEAKER_01]: She fell in love with this guy and tried to get him away from his family.
[00:28:25] [SPEAKER_01]: And throughout, she will deal with them interfering in her relationship in ways.
[00:28:29] [SPEAKER_01]: But the biggest question I have here is the love story in and of itself.
[00:28:33] [SPEAKER_01]: We hear throughout that this man is abusive.
[00:28:35] [SPEAKER_01]: His family sucks.
[00:28:36] [SPEAKER_01]: They murder people.
[00:28:37] [SPEAKER_01]: They rape people.
[00:28:38] [SPEAKER_01]: They pillage to the point where the pastor is at the funeral, literally telling them that
[00:28:42] [SPEAKER_01]: their dead loved one is in hell.
[00:28:45] [SPEAKER_01]: The pastor is up on the pulpit saying, he's dead, y'all.
[00:28:49] [SPEAKER_01]: He's at the altar saying, he's dead.
[00:28:50] [SPEAKER_01]: And he went to hell.
[00:28:51] [SPEAKER_01]: And today's sermon is going to be about how the rest of y'all are going to go to hell if
[00:28:54] [SPEAKER_01]: y'all don't get it together.
[00:28:56] [SPEAKER_01]: The pastor is incensed.
[00:28:58] [SPEAKER_01]: And the entire time we hear Megan Good being like, but I'm in love with him.
[00:29:01] [SPEAKER_01]: How?
[00:29:02] [SPEAKER_01]: How did she fall in love with this man?
[00:29:05] [SPEAKER_02]: They've been together since they were 17.
[00:29:07] [SPEAKER_02]: We found out through a whole bunch of exposition.
[00:29:11] [SPEAKER_02]: We found out, found this out.
[00:29:13] [SPEAKER_02]: And he was even mean in high school.
[00:29:15] [SPEAKER_02]: The first thing she says to him nine minutes into the movie is like, remember when we
[00:29:21] [SPEAKER_02]: went to prom?
[00:29:21] [SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
[00:29:22] [SPEAKER_02]: And you got oil on your, on your, your suit.
[00:29:25] [SPEAKER_02]: And everybody laughed at you.
[00:29:27] [SPEAKER_02]: Did you put it on me?
[00:29:28] [SPEAKER_02]: You were mean.
[00:29:29] [SPEAKER_02]: Like.
[00:29:30] [SPEAKER_02]: Why?
[00:29:32] [SPEAKER_01]: That happened to you when you were 17.
[00:29:34] [SPEAKER_01]: When did you fall in love?
[00:29:35] [SPEAKER_01]: Aja, you're the expert on the love shows.
[00:29:37] [SPEAKER_01]: Talk to us.
[00:29:38] [SPEAKER_00]: That's what I didn't understand was y'all's relationship is so bad that your best friend
[00:29:47] [SPEAKER_00]: has kept a list of all the bad things he's done.
[00:29:52] [SPEAKER_00]: Like, you know how bad a relationship has to be that you're like, the first thing happens,
[00:29:57] [SPEAKER_00]: you're like, I'm gonna note that.
[00:29:59] [SPEAKER_00]: And I'm gonna keep this going for someday.
[00:30:02] [SPEAKER_00]: Like, that's so bad.
[00:30:05] [SPEAKER_00]: So it's not like, cause what it, like for me, what would have made sense is like, okay,
[00:30:10] [SPEAKER_00]: he's had this traumatic past.
[00:30:12] [SPEAKER_00]: Right.
[00:30:12] [SPEAKER_00]: And then this, this death of his brother is what triggers this side of him.
[00:30:16] [SPEAKER_00]: And like, it's triggering, like the fact that we find out that he killed his dad and the
[00:30:21] [SPEAKER_00]: mom made him, but it wasn't, he's always been this way.
[00:30:26] [SPEAKER_00]: It was never any good.
[00:30:29] [SPEAKER_00]: For him, for him, for it to be, for this to have been the dynamic.
[00:30:34] [SPEAKER_00]: Yep.
[00:30:34] [SPEAKER_00]: He's been like this since Jeff, right?
[00:30:35] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[00:30:36] [SPEAKER_00]: She just, there's something in him that she loves.
[00:30:39] [SPEAKER_00]: We just can't put our finger on it.
[00:30:40] [SPEAKER_00]: Like, he's the one that asked for the divorce.
[00:30:43] [SPEAKER_00]: Like, what are you talking, what prompted it now?
[00:30:49] [SPEAKER_00]: Where did that come from?
[00:30:51] [SPEAKER_00]: That's what, it was just like, I couldn't make sense of it.
[00:30:54] [SPEAKER_00]: And so it just was just like, it became frustrating at a point.
[00:30:59] [SPEAKER_02]: It didn't make any sense.
[00:31:00] [SPEAKER_02]: Like, like her, her friends.
[00:31:03] [SPEAKER_02]: So we do find out that her friend married his friend, but technically I'm assuming it's
[00:31:10] [SPEAKER_02]: because the three of them, like her husband and the male friend, they all grew up in that
[00:31:15] [SPEAKER_02]: town together.
[00:31:16] [SPEAKER_02]: And then the wife of his best friend came along and that's now her best friend.
[00:31:23] [SPEAKER_02]: Jesus, that was right.
[00:31:24] [SPEAKER_02]: But like, um, like, so they invite them to dinner and he, he, he's like, oh, we got to
[00:31:33] [SPEAKER_02]: go to dinner.
[00:31:33] [SPEAKER_02]: She's like, it's five 30.
[00:31:34] [SPEAKER_02]: I'll get dressed.
[00:31:35] [SPEAKER_02]: I'll come back up.
[00:31:36] [SPEAKER_02]: And he left her to like, he just walks into the dinner with their two friends by himself
[00:31:40] [SPEAKER_02]: and they're like, oh, where's she at?
[00:31:41] [SPEAKER_02]: He's like, I don't know.
[00:31:42] [SPEAKER_02]: She's taking too long.
[00:31:43] [SPEAKER_02]: Like what?
[00:31:45] [SPEAKER_02]: And then, so she pulls up in an Uber and this is where he decides to ask for a divorce
[00:31:51] [SPEAKER_02]: very loud in a restaurant.
[00:31:54] [SPEAKER_02]: And after saying black women ain't shit, they don't support us after we've already sat through
[00:32:02] [SPEAKER_02]: 30 minutes of how she does everything.
[00:32:05] [SPEAKER_02]: Like, I don't even know if he's working at this point.
[00:32:09] [SPEAKER_02]: I think he does have a job, uh, but she worked at the bank to like, she is literally supporting
[00:32:15] [SPEAKER_02]: him.
[00:32:16] [SPEAKER_02]: She is literally putting up with his bullshit.
[00:32:18] [SPEAKER_02]: And he says that out of his mouth.
[00:32:20] [SPEAKER_00]: Listen, this was the justification for my mom.
[00:32:23] [SPEAKER_00]: When I gave these points, she was like, cause I was like, we never saw Ava is her name,
[00:32:33] [SPEAKER_00]: right?
[00:32:34] [SPEAKER_00]: Ava.
[00:32:34] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[00:32:34] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[00:32:35] [SPEAKER_00]: We never saw Ava give off this, like I'm better than you.
[00:32:39] [SPEAKER_00]: Right.
[00:32:39] [SPEAKER_00]: And I was like, no, that's because he was so insecure.
[00:32:43] [SPEAKER_00]: Like, that's why he reacted this way because he was just insecure in his own self.
[00:32:48] [SPEAKER_00]: So he was, you know, putting that off on her, but it's like, well, why did they, why did
[00:32:53] [SPEAKER_00]: she prompt?
[00:32:54] [SPEAKER_00]: Why does she need, why did he need to get the divorce now?
[00:32:56] [SPEAKER_00]: Why didn't he do it a month ago?
[00:32:58] [SPEAKER_00]: Two months ago, a year?
[00:33:00] [SPEAKER_00]: Like what was the, just the outburst?
[00:33:03] [SPEAKER_00]: It was like, he was blaming her for everything that happened that day.
[00:33:07] [SPEAKER_00]: He wouldn't even let her put her hand on him.
[00:33:09] [SPEAKER_00]: And it was like, she was acting like this, you know, like, oh, you know, what do you
[00:33:15] [SPEAKER_00]: even call it?
[00:33:16] [SPEAKER_00]: Just like a damsel in distress.
[00:33:18] [SPEAKER_00]: Right.
[00:33:18] [SPEAKER_00]: Like she seemed like the perfect wife for someone like him.
[00:33:23] [SPEAKER_00]: Exactly.
[00:33:23] [SPEAKER_00]: He was just a doormat.
[00:33:25] [SPEAKER_00]: She was a doormat.
[00:33:26] [SPEAKER_00]: Exactly.
[00:33:27] [SPEAKER_03]: And he was fed up.
[00:33:30] [SPEAKER_02]: He was fed up.
[00:33:31] [SPEAKER_02]: He was fed up.
[00:33:33] [SPEAKER_02]: He was fed up.
[00:33:33] [SPEAKER_02]: We've already seen him do like 8 million things.
[00:33:37] [SPEAKER_02]: He damn near almost made her walk home after the, but I think what I, I'm assuming, which
[00:33:44] [SPEAKER_02]: I have to assume because Tyler Perry, again, probably writes things and he, anyways, and
[00:33:49] [SPEAKER_02]: then takes things out and then forgets that he, anyways.
[00:33:52] [SPEAKER_00]: I found that out.
[00:33:53] [SPEAKER_00]: He rewrote the intro scene, like the first scene, he rewrote it the day before filming started.
[00:34:00] [SPEAKER_00]: So no one knew what was going to happen.
[00:34:02] [SPEAKER_00]: Like they had done all the week.
[00:34:04] [SPEAKER_01]: They didn't know they were going to drag that body out there.
[00:34:05] [SPEAKER_00]: They had no idea that that was about to happen because he rewrote it the day before filming
[00:34:10] [SPEAKER_00]: started.
[00:34:11] [SPEAKER_02]: Mm hmm.
[00:34:11] [SPEAKER_02]: Yep.
[00:34:12] [SPEAKER_02]: That makes sense.
[00:34:13] [SPEAKER_02]: So, but what I was going to say is I've, I, what I think happened, which I have to guess
[00:34:19] [SPEAKER_02]: through all of this shit is because like after the funeral, his mom and his brothers
[00:34:25] [SPEAKER_02]: kept telling, kept getting into his ears about how she ain't shit.
[00:34:29] [SPEAKER_02]: She trying to do this to you.
[00:34:30] [SPEAKER_02]: She's trying to change you.
[00:34:31] [SPEAKER_02]: Because remember at the scene, again, in the car, right after the funeral, he's like,
[00:34:37] [SPEAKER_02]: you always change me.
[00:34:39] [SPEAKER_02]: Why don't you try it?
[00:34:40] [SPEAKER_02]: Why won't you love me like I am?
[00:34:42] [SPEAKER_02]: And she's like, I'm just trying to do better for you, babe.
[00:34:44] [SPEAKER_02]: Like, like I, that was what I'm assuming because it didn't remember later on in the show,
[00:34:50] [SPEAKER_02]: he's talking, it's his, it's his mom and his brothers who send them the picture of her
[00:34:55] [SPEAKER_02]: with Benji, which we'll get to him.
[00:34:58] [SPEAKER_02]: Um, um, and they're like, see, we told you, bro, she'd be cheating on you the whole time.
[00:35:03] [SPEAKER_02]: Like, wait, how did y'all jump to that?
[00:35:06] [SPEAKER_02]: How did we get here?
[00:35:07] [SPEAKER_02]: They've been together for 20 years.
[00:35:10] [SPEAKER_02]: She would cheat on you for 20 years.
[00:35:12] [SPEAKER_02]: And clearly, like, this is the first time in a minute that she's seen bitch.
[00:35:16] [SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
[00:35:17] [SPEAKER_02]: Anyways, but like it, from, from that scene, I've, I'm just inferring that that's why he
[00:35:24] [SPEAKER_02]: wanted the divorce now is because the people are chirping in his ear.
[00:35:29] [SPEAKER_02]: Like, we don't need them.
[00:35:31] [SPEAKER_02]: They, she's so snobby, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
[00:35:33] [SPEAKER_02]: Like, because we saw the mom had never liked her because we saw the wedding video.
[00:35:45] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, okay.
[00:35:47] [SPEAKER_01]: We've been tiptoeing around a lot of these crazier parts, but let's just, let's just
[00:35:51] [SPEAKER_01]: dive in.
[00:35:51] [SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
[00:35:52] [SPEAKER_01]: The movie opens with the funeral that we've been talking about.
[00:35:55] [SPEAKER_01]: Now, what happens is the dad, the pastor, he's up on the, in the pulpit.
[00:36:01] [SPEAKER_01]: He's up on the altar and he's giving his sermon about how this is a horrible family.
[00:36:05] [SPEAKER_01]: This man who just died is a horrible man and he's going to hell and y'all going to go to
[00:36:08] [SPEAKER_01]: hell too.
[00:36:10] [SPEAKER_01]: Obviously this family, the Bertrands, they don't take that kindly.
[00:36:13] [SPEAKER_01]: They don't, they don't like that.
[00:36:15] [SPEAKER_01]: So the mom, she stands up.
[00:36:17] [SPEAKER_01]: Her name is Linda.
[00:36:18] [SPEAKER_01]: She stands up and she's like, Hey, I don't want your charity.
[00:36:21] [SPEAKER_01]: They said, they think they're doing the Bertrands a favor.
[00:36:23] [SPEAKER_01]: They're very poor.
[00:36:24] [SPEAKER_01]: They could not afford to bury their kid.
[00:36:27] [SPEAKER_01]: This other boy who was also horrible.
[00:36:29] [SPEAKER_01]: And so we're going to, we're going to, thanks to Megan Good's character.
[00:36:32] [SPEAKER_01]: Thanks to Ava.
[00:36:33] [SPEAKER_01]: We got you a funeral.
[00:36:34] [SPEAKER_01]: We got you some clothes to wear at the funeral.
[00:36:36] [SPEAKER_01]: And so we're going to bury them for free because Ava's a part of the family by extension,
[00:36:41] [SPEAKER_01]: you know, through her, her, her husband, Dallas.
[00:36:45] [SPEAKER_01]: But since mama didn't like that use that, that word charity, they didn't like that they
[00:36:49] [SPEAKER_01]: was getting it for free.
[00:36:50] [SPEAKER_01]: And if these people were giving them a handout, she proceeds to take off all her clothes.
[00:36:54] [SPEAKER_01]: And so she's just in her undergarments.
[00:36:56] [SPEAKER_01]: And then also, cause I don't want them.
[00:36:58] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't want your clothes.
[00:36:59] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't want your handouts.
[00:37:00] [SPEAKER_01]: And we don't even want your damn casket or your damn funeral.
[00:37:03] [SPEAKER_01]: Take my child out of that casket.
[00:37:05] [SPEAKER_01]: And so they take the kid out.
[00:37:06] [SPEAKER_01]: Well, the guy out the casket and they throw them in the back of the pickup truck and go
[00:37:09] [SPEAKER_01]: bury them in the front yard at the trailer park.
[00:37:12] [SPEAKER_01]: And I think Mari, I think that from this moment on, the divorce is imminent because I think
[00:37:18] [SPEAKER_01]: that Dallas blames her for this happening.
[00:37:20] [SPEAKER_01]: I think she thinks it, he says it's a setup at different points.
[00:37:23] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[00:37:24] [SPEAKER_02]: He said it.
[00:37:24] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
[00:37:24] [SPEAKER_02]: He said it.
[00:37:25] [SPEAKER_02]: Like everything goes back to that first scene.
[00:37:28] [SPEAKER_02]: Like after they bury him in the yard at the trailer park, she's looking for Dallas and
[00:37:33] [SPEAKER_02]: he's in the back in their old pickup truck.
[00:37:35] [SPEAKER_02]: And this is when they go down memory lane, which is not, again, not pleasant.
[00:37:39] [SPEAKER_02]: It's all bad memories.
[00:37:41] [SPEAKER_02]: And him blaming her for his, her father saying all that stuff, him telling him, saying that
[00:37:48] [SPEAKER_02]: she's trying to change him.
[00:37:50] [SPEAKER_02]: Like the Bertram family, they're that family and their town is small.
[00:37:56] [SPEAKER_02]: So everybody knows them and they're that problem family.
[00:37:58] [SPEAKER_02]: And it leads to like them going out, like Dallas and his brothers going out to this bar.
[00:38:06] [SPEAKER_02]: She tries to chase them down.
[00:38:09] [SPEAKER_02]: He's of course not trying to hear it.
[00:38:10] [SPEAKER_02]: She goes outside and oh, look who she meets outside.
[00:38:13] [SPEAKER_02]: It is the other love interest that we are now introduced to.
[00:38:17] [SPEAKER_02]: It is Benji.
[00:38:19] [SPEAKER_02]: And right when she meets Benji and she sees Benji, him and all his brothers can come out
[00:38:24] [SPEAKER_02]: and they threaten to beat him again because they say as they're about to beat him.
[00:38:29] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, remember when we beat you up in high school and put you in the hospital?
[00:38:34] [SPEAKER_02]: Like the exposition.
[00:38:37] [SPEAKER_02]: And why is it so noticeable every time?
[00:38:40] [SPEAKER_02]: It's like every time.
[00:38:42] [SPEAKER_02]: Girl, we've been best friends for 17 years.
[00:38:44] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm from the north.
[00:38:45] [SPEAKER_02]: You're from the south.
[00:38:47] [SPEAKER_01]: It's like they got to set up the story to them.
[00:38:51] [SPEAKER_00]: Even the best friend when and when she was like, all right, I'm gonna go check after
[00:38:55] [SPEAKER_00]: the funeral.
[00:38:56] [SPEAKER_00]: She's like, all right, I'm gonna go check on Dallas.
[00:38:58] [SPEAKER_00]: He's like, no, I've known him longer.
[00:39:04] [SPEAKER_02]: You didn't go up here down here like we did.
[00:39:08] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[00:39:09] [SPEAKER_01]: Listen, look.
[00:39:10] [SPEAKER_01]: OK.
[00:39:11] [SPEAKER_01]: I get it.
[00:39:14] [SPEAKER_01]: It is a little.
[00:39:15] [SPEAKER_01]: They hit the nail on the head, but they got to let you know.
[00:39:17] [SPEAKER_01]: Every time.
[00:39:19] [SPEAKER_01]: Because Asia, Benji didn't already got put in the hospital by this same group of people.
[00:39:24] [SPEAKER_01]: So if it's me, your boyfriend, who is now your husband and his family, then put me in
[00:39:30] [SPEAKER_01]: the hospital.
[00:39:30] [SPEAKER_01]: You ain't never got to worry about me again.
[00:39:32] [SPEAKER_01]: But why?
[00:39:33] [SPEAKER_01]: Why is Benji still showing up for Ava?
[00:39:36] [SPEAKER_00]: Well, what he said later on in the movie is that like when he was like scrawnier, that's
[00:39:41] [SPEAKER_00]: what that that's when that happened.
[00:39:44] [SPEAKER_00]: But then he became like when he got like, I don't know, big.
[00:39:48] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[00:39:48] [SPEAKER_00]: Started working.
[00:39:49] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[00:39:49] [SPEAKER_00]: Country strong.
[00:39:50] [SPEAKER_00]: Then he was like they didn't mess with him anymore.
[00:39:53] [SPEAKER_00]: So I guess he's thinking like he's in the clear because Ava is his lifelong love.
[00:40:02] [SPEAKER_01]: Them muscles ain't finna stop no bullet.
[00:40:04] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, like these people are crazy.
[00:40:06] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, we heard a lot of bad things about the Bertrams.
[00:40:08] [SPEAKER_01]: And one of the one of the nicest things anybody said about them is that they beat people up.
[00:40:12] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, everybody, everything else has been.
[00:40:14] [SPEAKER_01]: I heard I heard maim.
[00:40:15] [SPEAKER_01]: I heard I heard rape.
[00:40:18] [SPEAKER_01]: All it's all at the eulogy.
[00:40:21] [SPEAKER_01]: You know what I'm saying?
[00:40:23] [SPEAKER_01]: So I'm like, Benji, get out of there.
[00:40:25] [SPEAKER_01]: What did you think about him as a love interest, though, Asia?
[00:40:28] [SPEAKER_01]: Or potential love interest as the saving grace in this movie?
[00:40:31] [SPEAKER_01]: Because every Tyler Perry got one.
[00:40:33] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[00:40:33] [SPEAKER_00]: So here's my issue with a love interest in this movie.
[00:40:40] [SPEAKER_00]: The trauma that this woman is going through is too fresh.
[00:40:44] [SPEAKER_00]: It's happening right now.
[00:40:48] [SPEAKER_00]: You know, when a movie starts, you automatically want to start predicting like what's going to happen.
[00:40:52] [SPEAKER_00]: Right.
[00:40:52] [SPEAKER_00]: And I was like, OK, we starting off like this.
[00:40:56] [SPEAKER_00]: We're probably going to do a time jump.
[00:40:58] [SPEAKER_00]: You know, it's going to be one year later.
[00:41:00] [SPEAKER_00]: I think we're going to get to see like, OK, Ava's living her life.
[00:41:03] [SPEAKER_00]: She gets starts to develop this love interest.
[00:41:06] [SPEAKER_00]: And then, oh, this divorce is still looming.
[00:41:09] [SPEAKER_00]: We thought he comes back now.
[00:41:11] [SPEAKER_00]: Exactly.
[00:41:12] [SPEAKER_00]: No, it's the same week.
[00:41:14] [SPEAKER_00]: Like we're in the same time.
[00:41:17] [SPEAKER_00]: Why would she ever be ready to move on?
[00:41:20] [SPEAKER_00]: They've been together since they were 17.
[00:41:22] [SPEAKER_02]: She went to her mom and dad's house for one week and came back a new person.
[00:41:28] [SPEAKER_00]: She said, I'm ready.
[00:41:30] [SPEAKER_00]: I am ready to move on.
[00:41:32] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm ready to forge her own path.
[00:41:34] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[00:41:35] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm ready to be bold.
[00:41:36] [SPEAKER_00]: I am ready to just get myself back.
[00:41:40] [SPEAKER_00]: There are people that are in.
[00:41:42] [SPEAKER_00]: If this for the contingent of people out there who love this movie,
[00:41:47] [SPEAKER_00]: there are people who've been through way less that can't move on that fast.
[00:41:56] [SPEAKER_02]: Family, church and running.
[00:41:58] [SPEAKER_02]: That's all it took.
[00:41:59] [SPEAKER_02]: A week of family, church and running.
[00:42:01] [SPEAKER_02]: And she was back to the old her.
[00:42:04] [SPEAKER_01]: Well, can we talk about the running?
[00:42:06] [SPEAKER_01]: It's something about the fact that this girl ran track in high school.
[00:42:10] [SPEAKER_01]: Her daddy just will never let go.
[00:42:11] [SPEAKER_01]: You used to be a track star.
[00:42:13] [SPEAKER_01]: How did this happen to you?
[00:42:15] [SPEAKER_01]: I raised you to run through the finish line, Mari.
[00:42:18] [SPEAKER_01]: Why are you in this abusive relationship when you were such a good track star?
[00:42:22] [SPEAKER_01]: You used to run, baby.
[00:42:23] [SPEAKER_01]: Remember your gold medals?
[00:42:24] [SPEAKER_01]: Look at all the medals we got.
[00:42:27] [SPEAKER_02]: That was so interesting.
[00:42:28] [SPEAKER_02]: Like once she goes to her parents' house and they're giving her this like really long pep talk.
[00:42:33] [SPEAKER_02]: I was I was like really confused a little bit because I was like,
[00:42:38] [SPEAKER_02]: they're like, we showed you a loving relationship.
[00:42:41] [SPEAKER_02]: He heard that was like, I did everything for your mama.
[00:42:45] [SPEAKER_02]: And they they pull out the receipts with the home video.
[00:42:50] [SPEAKER_02]: This is you smiling.
[00:42:52] [SPEAKER_02]: And then they said, this is you after him.
[00:42:55] [SPEAKER_02]: And at the wedding, Miss Linda stood up and was like, I told you not to marry her and not to be careful.
[00:43:06] [SPEAKER_02]: Why do you?
[00:43:07] [SPEAKER_01]: Why do I record it?
[00:43:08] [SPEAKER_01]: Why do I keep the footage?
[00:43:10] [SPEAKER_00]: It reads comedy.
[00:43:13] [SPEAKER_00]: If you can laugh.
[00:43:14] [SPEAKER_00]: The fact that this woman takes every family event, whether it's a funeral or a wedding to show out.
[00:43:24] [SPEAKER_00]: What are you doing?
[00:43:27] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
[00:43:27] [SPEAKER_02]: And they're just like, we haven't seen you smile or laugh in these ones after Dallas.
[00:43:33] [SPEAKER_02]: And it's it kind of I did make her look even more stupid because it's true.
[00:43:42] [SPEAKER_02]: Because her parents are like have a great relationship.
[00:43:45] [SPEAKER_02]: But I guess, you know, they're a preacher and a preacher's wife.
[00:43:48] [SPEAKER_02]: And she's just like, you told you would always talk about how marriage is hard and people run and stuff like that.
[00:43:54] [SPEAKER_02]: And her mama, who who read the list that her friend gave her, which is just, again, ridiculous.
[00:44:03] [SPEAKER_02]: And what was even more ridiculous was she said he was beating and spitting on you.
[00:44:07] [SPEAKER_02]: And I was like, why are we here?
[00:44:11] [SPEAKER_02]: OK, but anyway, the mom reads the letter of all the things that he did.
[00:44:16] [SPEAKER_02]: And then she's like, baby, I didn't raise you like this.
[00:44:19] [SPEAKER_02]: I didn't raise you to take all this, which at this point in the movie, I'm like.
[00:44:25] [SPEAKER_02]: Tyler, this doesn't feel like your normal stuff, because aren't you normally telling black women to lower our standards?
[00:44:31] [SPEAKER_02]: Right. Isn't that your tea?
[00:44:34] [SPEAKER_02]: We're supposed to lower our standards, right?
[00:44:36] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, she did it for 20 some years, Amari. It was time to stand up.
[00:44:39] [SPEAKER_01]: She's 40 years old and her mama talked about how we didn't raise you like that.
[00:44:42] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that was fun to say when she was 18 dating this man.
[00:44:46] [SPEAKER_01]: Maybe when she was 20 and they got married.
[00:44:48] [SPEAKER_01]: She's 40. And you're like, I didn't raise you. Yes, you did.
[00:44:51] [SPEAKER_01]: You did raise me like that. That's exactly who I am. Look at me now.
[00:44:54] [SPEAKER_01]: If this was a mistake she was making in the real time, she just started dating an abusive man.
[00:44:59] [SPEAKER_01]: She just got engaged to an abusive man.
[00:45:02] [SPEAKER_01]: Y'all giving her this pep talk after the abusive man then asked for a divorce.
[00:45:05] [SPEAKER_01]: Asia, what did I miss?
[00:45:08] [SPEAKER_00]: Right.
[00:45:08] [SPEAKER_00]: The relationship has run its course.
[00:45:11] [SPEAKER_00]: Like, that's not teaching her anything.
[00:45:14] [SPEAKER_00]: She wasn't the one who left.
[00:45:17] [SPEAKER_00]: No.
[00:45:18] [SPEAKER_00]: And so it's just like, if it's so accessible, we've seen.
[00:45:23] [SPEAKER_00]: Y'all can make this hour and a half commute so easy.
[00:45:26] [SPEAKER_00]: Why haven't y'all stepped in sooner?
[00:45:28] [SPEAKER_02]: Right.
[00:45:29] [SPEAKER_02]: Well, the mom said she didn't know, right?
[00:45:32] [SPEAKER_02]: She didn't know he was spitting on it.
[00:45:34] [SPEAKER_02]: Right.
[00:45:35] [SPEAKER_01]: Well, we got to talk about the note.
[00:45:37] [SPEAKER_01]: The best friend, her name is Rona.
[00:45:39] [SPEAKER_01]: Rona said, all right, I can tell you about to be dumb and go back to him.
[00:45:44] [SPEAKER_01]: So I just need to remind you that this has not been a happy relationship for you.
[00:45:49] [SPEAKER_01]: This is not happy.
[00:45:50] [SPEAKER_01]: Like what she says, remember the good times.
[00:45:52] [SPEAKER_01]: Were there ever any good times?
[00:45:53] [SPEAKER_01]: Because here is a four page letter of all the things.
[00:45:58] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, pages, pages.
[00:46:01] [SPEAKER_00]: I was going to give it to you after the funeral.
[00:46:05] [SPEAKER_01]: After hers?
[00:46:06] [SPEAKER_01]: Or, you know, because it sounds like she might have made it to her own funeral.
[00:46:10] [SPEAKER_01]: Why did you bring that letter to the funeral, Asia?
[00:46:14] [SPEAKER_00]: Right.
[00:46:15] [SPEAKER_00]: When was that in any scenario, would that have been the appropriate place to give her this letter?
[00:46:21] [SPEAKER_00]: Look, while the mood is low.
[00:46:26] [SPEAKER_01]: Well, everybody crying girl, take this.
[00:46:30] [SPEAKER_02]: Not even just when they give it to her, but who really sits there and documents?
[00:46:36] [SPEAKER_02]: Like, that's wild to me.
[00:46:39] [SPEAKER_00]: That's wild.
[00:46:40] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm telling you to need to do that.
[00:46:42] [SPEAKER_00]: Well, now I'm questioning her friendship.
[00:46:45] [SPEAKER_00]: Right.
[00:46:46] [SPEAKER_00]: If the list, let's say you do that.
[00:46:48] [SPEAKER_00]: The list gets to five things.
[00:46:51] [SPEAKER_00]: Why are you not talking to your friends?
[00:46:53] [SPEAKER_01]: By that point, you have to like, hey, I started a list.
[00:46:56] [SPEAKER_01]: It's still in this list is still in development.
[00:46:59] [SPEAKER_01]: But I just feel like you should read the draft of it.
[00:47:03] [SPEAKER_02]: That's what I'm saying.
[00:47:05] [SPEAKER_02]: Like, the moment my best friend tells me a man is beating at her, spitting on her, it's like.
[00:47:11] [SPEAKER_02]: We need to talk.
[00:47:13] [SPEAKER_02]: There's a ditch somewhere.
[00:47:14] [SPEAKER_02]: There's a ditch dug somewhere.
[00:47:15] [SPEAKER_02]: Like, I don't understand.
[00:47:17] [SPEAKER_00]: She's like, oh, he pulled her hair.
[00:47:20] [SPEAKER_01]: Right.
[00:47:24] [SPEAKER_01]: He pulled her hair.
[00:47:26] [SPEAKER_01]: Like, I don't understand.
[00:47:28] [SPEAKER_01]: Pulled her hair again.
[00:47:29] [SPEAKER_01]: Writes that one down.
[00:47:31] [SPEAKER_01]: Dear diary.
[00:47:33] [SPEAKER_01]: Like, what the heck?
[00:47:35] [SPEAKER_01]: With the Moesha music in the background.
[00:47:37] [SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
[00:47:39] [SPEAKER_00]: Today, Ava told me.
[00:47:41] [SPEAKER_00]: Right.
[00:47:41] [SPEAKER_00]: Spit on her.
[00:47:43] [SPEAKER_00]: Girl, you won't believe what just happened.
[00:47:46] [SPEAKER_00]: What?
[00:47:46] [SPEAKER_00]: I got hit.
[00:47:47] [SPEAKER_00]: What?
[00:47:48] [SPEAKER_01]: You're good.
[00:47:49] [SPEAKER_03]: I just got hit.com.
[00:47:50] [SPEAKER_01]: I just got hit.com.
[00:47:51] [SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
[00:47:52] [SPEAKER_01]: You know?
[00:47:55] [SPEAKER_01]: So, we get past the letter.
[00:47:57] [SPEAKER_01]: Mama reads the letter.
[00:47:58] [SPEAKER_01]: Dad does not read the letter because if he does, he's going to react.
[00:48:01] [SPEAKER_01]: And we'll see that later on that he really will react.
[00:48:05] [SPEAKER_01]: But there's a lot of stuff going on, right?
[00:48:08] [SPEAKER_01]: Benji's showing up.
[00:48:09] [SPEAKER_01]: And while Ava is spending this time away from her husband since he has demanded this divorce,
[00:48:16] [SPEAKER_01]: they are trying to now hook her up with Benji.
[00:48:19] [SPEAKER_01]: He is the most eligible single person in town who's willing to fight with the Bertrams over
[00:48:25] [SPEAKER_01]: this woman.
[00:48:26] [SPEAKER_01]: So, every time we look up, Benji is there.
[00:48:29] [SPEAKER_01]: Mari, they set up a date at the feed store.
[00:48:33] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
[00:48:33] [SPEAKER_02]: The feed store, the church.
[00:48:35] [SPEAKER_02]: Like, this man is also going through a divorce or he went through a divorce from his wife
[00:48:40] [SPEAKER_02]: that we don't see.
[00:48:41] [SPEAKER_02]: We see that.
[00:48:42] [SPEAKER_00]: For all we know, it was two weeks ago because the pace at which you move on in this universe.
[00:48:49] [SPEAKER_02]: It was so nuts, right?
[00:48:51] [SPEAKER_02]: Because she comes in on what I'm assuming it's a Saturday and meets up at the feed store
[00:48:56] [SPEAKER_02]: and she's like, you know, I can't do this.
[00:48:58] [SPEAKER_02]: On Sunday, they're at the church bake sale and he's like coming on very strong, which
[00:49:04] [SPEAKER_02]: again, I'm like, sir, she just, this is a divorce and she's like, I can't do this.
[00:49:12] [SPEAKER_02]: I need space for me.
[00:49:13] [SPEAKER_02]: By Wednesday, they're at the fair together and she's throwing herself at him in the back
[00:49:17] [SPEAKER_02]: of his truck.
[00:49:19] [SPEAKER_02]: And then he's like, no, I can't do it.
[00:49:23] [SPEAKER_02]: And I was like, oh, great.
[00:49:24] [SPEAKER_02]: That's nice.
[00:49:24] [SPEAKER_02]: He didn't take advantage of her.
[00:49:26] [SPEAKER_02]: Boundaries.
[00:49:27] [SPEAKER_02]: Boundaries.
[00:49:27] [SPEAKER_02]: They wake up the next morning.
[00:49:28] [SPEAKER_02]: He's like, oh, can I have your number?
[00:49:30] [SPEAKER_02]: And she's again, like, no, I don't, I can't think of it.
[00:49:32] [SPEAKER_02]: I can't be with anybody right now.
[00:49:35] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
[00:49:35] [SPEAKER_01]: Even though she tried to jump in the pickup truck last night.
[00:49:41] [SPEAKER_02]: It's just like, and then by, and by Friday, that Friday, they're fucking like, it was just
[00:49:46] [SPEAKER_01]: it was a week.
[00:49:49] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, yeah, we get there kind of quick.
[00:49:51] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm not going to lie to you.
[00:49:52] [SPEAKER_01]: She didn't, she wanted to have sex with him in the back of his pickup truck, but you know,
[00:49:55] [SPEAKER_01]: she, she wasn't healed enough to actually give him her phone number.
[00:49:59] [SPEAKER_01]: So they have to move on from there.
[00:50:01] [SPEAKER_01]: That's too intimate.
[00:50:02] [SPEAKER_01]: Too intimate.
[00:50:03] [SPEAKER_01]: Way too intimate.
[00:50:05] [SPEAKER_01]: People are sending pics of her and Benji together.
[00:50:08] [SPEAKER_01]: It's her family.
[00:50:09] [SPEAKER_01]: They're, I mean, his family, they're spying on them.
[00:50:11] [SPEAKER_01]: They send the pics to Dallas and says, hey, she's always been cheating on you.
[00:50:17] [SPEAKER_01]: Uh, and he always knew that she had been cheating on him.
[00:50:21] [SPEAKER_01]: And now he can get money because he can, he's divorcing her and she has some infidelity
[00:50:26] [SPEAKER_01]: now.
[00:50:27] [SPEAKER_01]: And so he can get paid.
[00:50:28] [SPEAKER_01]: Cause so she talks about, you know, wanting to get this divorce, but not wanting to leave
[00:50:33] [SPEAKER_01]: this divorce with any emotional baggage.
[00:50:35] [SPEAKER_01]: She wants to have a divorce.
[00:50:37] [SPEAKER_01]: Wait a minute.
[00:50:38] [SPEAKER_01]: Wait for it in the black.
[00:50:40] [SPEAKER_01]: And that's where we get the title.
[00:50:41] [SPEAKER_01]: I was like, okay, that's clever.
[00:50:44] [SPEAKER_01]: If he's not going to do nothing else, I'm going to give us one of them, one of them clever
[00:50:48] [SPEAKER_01]: little titles.
[00:50:48] [SPEAKER_01]: We got Mia Coppa.
[00:50:49] [SPEAKER_01]: Her name was Mia.
[00:50:51] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[00:50:52] [SPEAKER_00]: I will say he, if, if he did anything, he did that one little thing.
[00:50:58] [SPEAKER_01]: We can give him credit for that.
[00:50:59] [SPEAKER_01]: Um, so we get to the divorce proceedings.
[00:51:03] [SPEAKER_01]: She's got her lawyer who is Rona.
[00:51:06] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm assuming her best friend is the lawyer.
[00:51:07] [SPEAKER_01]: Um, and, or she doesn't, well, I guess she's the standing lawyer.
[00:51:10] [SPEAKER_01]: Cause she actually doesn't have any lawyer.
[00:51:12] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[00:51:15] [SPEAKER_01]: She showed up without a lawyer to this man who's clearly trying to scam her out of her,
[00:51:19] [SPEAKER_01]: her, her, her money and her life.
[00:51:22] [SPEAKER_00]: She said he had nothing, but I'm like, girl, what about protecting your something?
[00:51:27] [SPEAKER_01]: She doesn't even read the contract.
[00:51:29] [SPEAKER_01]: She just signs Mari.
[00:51:30] [SPEAKER_01]: He don't even, she doesn't even look at it and look the, the lawyer pulls back the page.
[00:51:36] [SPEAKER_01]: And so all she can see is the signature line.
[00:51:39] [SPEAKER_01]: It looks directly at Dallas.
[00:51:40] [SPEAKER_01]: Like we got it.
[00:51:42] [SPEAKER_01]: And I'm thinking, damn it, woman, you work at a bank.
[00:51:45] [SPEAKER_01]: I think so too.
[00:51:46] [SPEAKER_00]: Sign contracts, read them.
[00:51:48] [SPEAKER_00]: Right.
[00:51:48] [SPEAKER_00]: Nothing happened.
[00:51:49] [SPEAKER_00]: Nothing came from it.
[00:51:50] [SPEAKER_00]: I said, oh, he took her for everything she's worth.
[00:51:53] [SPEAKER_00]: I thought, yes.
[00:51:54] [SPEAKER_01]: The house she can't get into now because the life of vintage.
[00:51:58] [SPEAKER_02]: There's the twist in nothing.
[00:52:00] [SPEAKER_02]: I said, okay, plot twist.
[00:52:02] [SPEAKER_02]: No.
[00:52:05] [SPEAKER_02]: And then not the paper saying a really big letters, disillusion of marriage.
[00:52:10] [SPEAKER_02]: Like, cause that's what kind of contracts.
[00:52:12] [SPEAKER_01]: It had a cover sheet on it, a cover page.
[00:52:16] [SPEAKER_01]: Um, so the divorce proceedings are, you know, it's him.
[00:52:20] [SPEAKER_02]: You skipped one of the funniest scenes where he comes up into her work at the bank, yelling
[00:52:25] [SPEAKER_02]: at her, woman, you better sign these papers.
[00:52:28] [SPEAKER_02]: You better be there at 11 a.m.
[00:52:30] [SPEAKER_02]: Don't be late.
[00:52:32] [SPEAKER_02]: Don't, yeah.
[00:52:32] [SPEAKER_02]: Don't be late.
[00:52:34] [SPEAKER_02]: And, uh, Rona in the background, like Dallas, get out.
[00:52:37] [SPEAKER_02]: He's like, he's like, Rona, shut up.
[00:52:38] [SPEAKER_02]: She, she's like, I know you don't want to lose your job.
[00:52:41] [SPEAKER_02]: She said, nigga, I don't give a fuck about this job.
[00:52:44] [SPEAKER_02]: I was like, oh, in the middle of all these folks at the bank.
[00:52:50] [SPEAKER_00]: There is a patron right there, right in the room.
[00:52:55] [SPEAKER_01]: I would like to close my account.
[00:52:57] [SPEAKER_01]: Please.
[00:52:57] [SPEAKER_02]: In front of all of this mixed company.
[00:53:01] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh my God.
[00:53:02] [SPEAKER_02]: I was, that was the funniest.
[00:53:04] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm sorry.
[00:53:05] [SPEAKER_02]: That was the funniest thing to me.
[00:53:06] [SPEAKER_02]: And then after he leaves, after they have that talk about, she said, what's he got?
[00:53:10] [SPEAKER_02]: He don't got nothing.
[00:53:12] [SPEAKER_02]: All of that.
[00:53:12] [SPEAKER_02]: She's like.
[00:53:13] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm back.
[00:53:14] [SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
[00:53:15] [SPEAKER_02]: I can help you.
[00:53:15] [SPEAKER_02]: I was like, Rona.
[00:53:17] [SPEAKER_01]: Like, ma'am.
[00:53:18] [SPEAKER_00]: How did nobody get fired from that scene?
[00:53:21] [SPEAKER_00]: Like.
[00:53:22] [SPEAKER_00]: Where are the managers?
[00:53:24] [SPEAKER_00]: Right?
[00:53:25] [SPEAKER_01]: The whole town know about Dallas and his wretched family.
[00:53:27] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[00:53:28] [SPEAKER_02]: It's her.
[00:53:29] [SPEAKER_02]: It's her.
[00:53:29] [SPEAKER_02]: It's the manager.
[00:53:30] [SPEAKER_02]: This is in Atlanta, Chappelle.
[00:53:32] [SPEAKER_02]: So at this point, they're like, yeah, this is just, this is just a Tuesday.
[00:53:35] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
[00:53:36] [SPEAKER_02]: It's Dallas.
[00:53:36] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
[00:53:36] [SPEAKER_02]: This is every day.
[00:53:37] [SPEAKER_01]: We, we see this all the time.
[00:53:39] [SPEAKER_01]: Um, so based on what Mari just said, obviously Rona's not a big fan of, of Dallas and this
[00:53:47] [SPEAKER_01]: relationship.
[00:53:47] [SPEAKER_01]: So she's very happy that this divorce is finalized.
[00:53:50] [SPEAKER_01]: And she is going to throw her, Asia, I believe it's called a fuck you nigga and bye divorce
[00:53:55] [SPEAKER_01]: party with the full of papers.
[00:54:00] [SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
[00:54:01] [SPEAKER_00]: I believe that was the name, um, which it's like, Hey, fair.
[00:54:07] [SPEAKER_00]: But then at this point I'm thinking like, Oh, he got on, got over on her.
[00:54:11] [SPEAKER_00]: So it was like, Oh, there's, this is going to be interrupted in some way because of realizing
[00:54:16] [SPEAKER_00]: something, but no, that had nothing to do with it.
[00:54:18] [SPEAKER_00]: That was not a part of the storyline.
[00:54:20] [SPEAKER_00]: Um, but yeah, with, with strippers and Benji.
[00:54:24] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[00:54:25] [SPEAKER_01]: He showed up because every bill got nothing to do.
[00:54:28] [SPEAKER_01]: No, no.
[00:54:29] [SPEAKER_01]: Well, every scene is just a plot to hook her up with Benji.
[00:54:32] [SPEAKER_01]: Again, let this lady heal.
[00:54:33] [SPEAKER_01]: Can she rest?
[00:54:34] [SPEAKER_01]: Can she rest?
[00:54:36] [SPEAKER_01]: Does he have hobbies?
[00:54:37] [SPEAKER_01]: Right.
[00:54:38] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't think he does.
[00:54:39] [SPEAKER_01]: He might be, uh, he might be a sex worker.
[00:54:43] [SPEAKER_01]: He's an animal.
[00:54:43] [SPEAKER_02]: You know?
[00:54:45] [SPEAKER_02]: We found out he got a little taste 20 years ago and it's been up and it's stuck since
[00:54:50] [SPEAKER_02]: then apparently.
[00:54:52] [SPEAKER_02]: Because that's what, that's what put him in the hospital.
[00:54:54] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
[00:54:55] [SPEAKER_02]: They were, they were kissing in the truck and the Bertrand boys came and dragged him
[00:54:59] [SPEAKER_02]: out of the truck and beat him up and landed him in the hospital.
[00:55:02] [SPEAKER_02]: And then she went on and married Dallas after that.
[00:55:05] [SPEAKER_02]: Like.
[00:55:06] [SPEAKER_01]: Hmm.
[00:55:07] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
[00:55:08] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
[00:55:08] [SPEAKER_02]: He, he shows up and what's the, what's the best friend's name?
[00:55:12] [SPEAKER_01]: His name is Jim.
[00:55:13] [SPEAKER_01]: And you know, we got to talk about Jim.
[00:55:14] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
[00:55:15] [SPEAKER_01]: Um, they get the message that Dallas is outside.
[00:55:18] [SPEAKER_01]: He is now, he's stalking her at the, at the fuck you nigga goodbye party.
[00:55:22] [SPEAKER_01]: Uh, and he, he needs, we need his best friend to go talk some sense into him.
[00:55:27] [SPEAKER_01]: Jim is his best friend.
[00:55:28] [SPEAKER_01]: Jim, Jim is Rona's husband.
[00:55:30] [SPEAKER_02]: Husband.
[00:55:31] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
[00:55:31] [SPEAKER_02]: And this is Shannon Wallace.
[00:55:33] [SPEAKER_01]: But yeah.
[00:55:34] [SPEAKER_01]: Play by Shannon Wallace.
[00:55:35] [SPEAKER_01]: Um, I have a question about Jim.
[00:55:38] [SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
[00:55:39] [SPEAKER_01]: They say birds of a feather flock together.
[00:55:41] [SPEAKER_01]: Jim, how are you friends with this man?
[00:55:44] Yeah.
[00:55:45] [SPEAKER_01]: The entire town fears his entire family.
[00:55:47] [SPEAKER_01]: We've heard rape.
[00:55:49] [SPEAKER_01]: We've heard pillage.
[00:55:50] [SPEAKER_01]: We've heard maim.
[00:55:51] [SPEAKER_01]: We've heard kill come from this family.
[00:55:54] [SPEAKER_01]: You've known this man for 20 years.
[00:55:56] [SPEAKER_01]: At least you've known him since high school.
[00:55:57] [SPEAKER_01]: You've known Ava this entire time.
[00:56:00] [SPEAKER_01]: You know that Ava, you are married to her best friend.
[00:56:02] [SPEAKER_01]: So you know about the list.
[00:56:03] [SPEAKER_01]: You know this man has spat on this woman.
[00:56:06] [SPEAKER_01]: Beat her ass.
[00:56:06] [SPEAKER_01]: You saw them knock that damn bouquet out of her head at the wedding.
[00:56:11] [SPEAKER_01]: Asia, what do they have?
[00:56:12] [SPEAKER_01]: Well, we know what they have on Jim.
[00:56:15] [SPEAKER_01]: Why is Jim for it with this man?
[00:56:17] [SPEAKER_00]: Isn't that just the essence of like male relationships?
[00:56:23] [SPEAKER_01]: No, not never like this.
[00:56:24] [SPEAKER_01]: Not like this.
[00:56:25] [SPEAKER_01]: Not like this.
[00:56:26] [SPEAKER_01]: There's a limit.
[00:56:27] [SPEAKER_00]: You can easily think that ain't my relationship.
[00:56:30] [SPEAKER_00]: Uh, what's the saying?
[00:56:31] [SPEAKER_00]: Not my something, not my something.
[00:56:33] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
[00:56:35] [SPEAKER_02]: I know what you're talking about.
[00:56:39] [SPEAKER_02]: Not myself, it's not my monkeys.
[00:56:41] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
[00:56:41] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[00:56:41] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[00:56:42] [SPEAKER_00]: So I feel like it's one of those things where he's like, man, like we, we just, that's
[00:56:47] [SPEAKER_00]: my boy.
[00:56:49] [SPEAKER_00]: And it's like, well, like morally.
[00:56:51] [SPEAKER_00]: Well, no, no, no.
[00:56:52] [SPEAKER_00]: That's my boy.
[00:56:53] [SPEAKER_00]: I think it's as simple as that.
[00:56:55] [SPEAKER_02]: But he also looks exasperated though.
[00:56:58] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[00:56:59] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, you gotta be tired as hell.
[00:57:00] [SPEAKER_01]: If this is your best friend, I still, that's the same thing about her falling in love with
[00:57:04] [SPEAKER_01]: him.
[00:57:04] [SPEAKER_01]: What does he bring to the table?
[00:57:06] [SPEAKER_01]: That's even making that your boy?
[00:57:07] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, like did y'all have like one cool moment in middle school and since then
[00:57:10] [SPEAKER_01]: you just can't let it go?
[00:57:11] [SPEAKER_00]: Did he save your life or something like that?
[00:57:13] [SPEAKER_00]: What if he just pities him?
[00:57:15] [SPEAKER_00]: Like who else does he have?
[00:57:17] [SPEAKER_00]: Name another friend.
[00:57:18] [SPEAKER_00]: We saw this movie.
[00:57:19] [SPEAKER_01]: We did.
[00:57:19] [SPEAKER_01]: His mama.
[00:57:20] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
[00:57:22] [SPEAKER_02]: How did Dallas, Dallas literally were just walking into places.
[00:57:25] [SPEAKER_02]: Like that was their house that he just like walked up into like several times.
[00:57:30] [SPEAKER_02]: Like.
[00:57:31] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[00:57:32] [SPEAKER_01]: Um, yeah, this is bad.
[00:57:34] [SPEAKER_01]: Uh, Ava will eventually tell Benji that, you know, like, oh, thanks for being a gentleman.
[00:57:40] [SPEAKER_01]: Uh, and you know, you can stay in the guest bed, you know, he, he makes sure she gets
[00:57:44] [SPEAKER_01]: home safe.
[00:57:46] [SPEAKER_01]: Mari, you're rolling your eyes.
[00:57:48] [SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
[00:57:50] [SPEAKER_01]: She's, she thanks him for being a gentleman, but at this point he didn't wait a full three,
[00:57:55] [SPEAKER_01]: four days.
[00:57:57] [SPEAKER_01]: He's like, I'm kind of tired of doing that.
[00:57:59] [SPEAKER_01]: He said, I honestly, I ain't gonna lie to you.
[00:58:01] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm not sleeping here.
[00:58:02] [SPEAKER_01]: Cause if I sleep here, it's going to be in your bed.
[00:58:04] [SPEAKER_01]: And, um, so I probably should go.
[00:58:07] [SPEAKER_01]: And she's like, no, I'll stay.
[00:58:08] [SPEAKER_01]: And so from there she's bounced back Mari that quick.
[00:58:10] [SPEAKER_01]: She's onto the next.
[00:58:13] [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, right.
[00:58:14] [SPEAKER_02]: Rightfully so, but not rightfully so.
[00:58:16] [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, it's too much.
[00:58:19] [SPEAKER_02]: Just heal.
[00:58:20] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, just heal.
[00:58:21] [SPEAKER_02]: That's all I ask.
[00:58:22] [SPEAKER_02]: Exactly.
[00:58:23] [SPEAKER_00]: She said she did.
[00:58:24] [SPEAKER_00]: She was gone for a week.
[00:58:26] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[00:58:26] [SPEAKER_00]: She ran.
[00:58:27] [SPEAKER_02]: She was a new person.
[00:58:29] [SPEAKER_02]: Um, and you know, we, we heard, we found out that she had only been with, um, Dallas
[00:58:34] [SPEAKER_02]: or whatever.
[00:58:35] [SPEAKER_02]: So, so they, they sleep together.
[00:58:38] [SPEAKER_02]: And then lo and behold, Dallas in the house downstairs the next morning, just eating cereal.
[00:58:47] [SPEAKER_01]: Chilling, waiting on her to come downstairs.
[00:58:48] [SPEAKER_01]: And he says, I'm thinking about forgiving you.
[00:58:52] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, I've been coming around.
[00:58:54] [SPEAKER_01]: I know I demanded a divorce, clowned you, beat your ass for 20 years and all this other stuff,
[00:58:58] [SPEAKER_01]: but I might take you back.
[00:59:00] [SPEAKER_01]: I said, why did you go through the whole divorce thing?
[00:59:03] [SPEAKER_01]: If you were just going to come back and be like, nevermind.
[00:59:05] [SPEAKER_01]: It made no sense.
[00:59:07] [SPEAKER_00]: Asia, I don't understand.
[00:59:09] [SPEAKER_00]: Exactly.
[00:59:09] [SPEAKER_00]: Exactly.
[00:59:10] [SPEAKER_00]: Because what, what, so it felt like, okay, obviously he asked for the divorce.
[00:59:14] [SPEAKER_00]: He wants her to beg to not get the divorce, but it seemed like the whole relationship is
[00:59:20] [SPEAKER_00]: her begging him.
[00:59:21] [SPEAKER_00]: Like if he was so mean and abusive, the entire relationship and her staying and like probably
[00:59:29] [SPEAKER_00]: trying to overcompensate to like, oh, like to make it anything not seem her fault.
[00:59:34] [SPEAKER_00]: That's what she was doing the whole relationship.
[00:59:35] [SPEAKER_00]: And so I guess maybe he just felt like, okay, maybe if his family's telling, you know, it's
[00:59:40] [SPEAKER_00]: probably not this deep for Tyler Berry, but if he's like, his family is pressuring him
[00:59:45] [SPEAKER_00]: to do this, then it's like, okay, well maybe like I appease them, but then I know her.
[00:59:51] [SPEAKER_00]: So she, there's no way she's going to be like willing to do a divorce.
[00:59:55] [SPEAKER_00]: But then the fact that she accepted, he's like, wait, you weren't supposed to agree.
[00:59:59] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[01:00:00] [SPEAKER_02]: I think, I think you're right.
[01:00:01] [SPEAKER_02]: Maybe he, he just wanted her to like fight for him or beg him.
[01:00:05] [SPEAKER_02]: And he wanted to, her to be miserable like that.
[01:00:08] [SPEAKER_02]: And he thought he was going to be able to just like get a reaction out of her.
[01:00:13] [SPEAKER_02]: But she was, she was just like, nope, I'm just going to sign the papers.
[01:00:16] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm just going to sign the papers.
[01:00:17] [SPEAKER_02]: And he, he kept saying, oh, you acting brand new.
[01:00:22] [SPEAKER_02]: You must have somebody, something, something must have happened for you to sign those papers
[01:00:26] [SPEAKER_02]: so quickly and stuff like that.
[01:00:28] [SPEAKER_02]: And it's just like, yeah, you, you, you, you, the issue is you gave me the opening and
[01:00:36] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm taking it.
[01:00:37] [SPEAKER_02]: Right.
[01:00:38] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[01:00:39] [SPEAKER_01]: So Benji and Ava, they basically jumped Dallas and they beat him up and they throw him inside
[01:00:44] [SPEAKER_01]: his car and tell him to never come back.
[01:00:46] [SPEAKER_01]: Cause she'd be damned if she begged a nigga to stay with her.
[01:00:48] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, I was like, what?
[01:00:49] [SPEAKER_02]: Out that house.
[01:00:50] [SPEAKER_02]: This was some good, this was some great action.
[01:00:53] [SPEAKER_02]: Megan was yelling at the top of her lungs.
[01:00:55] [SPEAKER_02]: I feel like she was talking.
[01:00:57] [SPEAKER_02]: What's, what's the, what's the dude, the new dude on a marriage?
[01:01:00] [SPEAKER_02]: Jonathan Majors?
[01:01:01] [SPEAKER_02]: No, her ex-husband.
[01:01:03] [SPEAKER_02]: Her ex-husband.
[01:01:05] [SPEAKER_00]: Oh my gosh.
[01:01:06] [SPEAKER_00]: Megan Good's ex-husband?
[01:01:08] [SPEAKER_02]: Devon Franklin.
[01:01:09] [SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
[01:01:10] [SPEAKER_01]: Wait, pause, pause, pause, pause, pause.
[01:01:11] [SPEAKER_01]: Megan Good's ex-husband is on Married at First Sight?
[01:01:13] [SPEAKER_00]: No, he wasn't, he wasn't like a guest expert.
[01:01:17] [SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
[01:01:17] [SPEAKER_01]: I was about to say that is a plot twist.
[01:01:19] [SPEAKER_00]: Cause what the hell?
[01:01:21] [SPEAKER_00]: He was a guest expert after the divorce.
[01:01:24] [SPEAKER_00]: But then it kind of was like, well, is he really the expert?
[01:01:30] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[01:01:31] [SPEAKER_01]: I'd seen them.
[01:01:33] [SPEAKER_01]: I'd seen them speak at like different conferences, at least twice where they came and spoke as
[01:01:38] [SPEAKER_01]: a couple.
[01:01:39] [SPEAKER_01]: And so when I found out they were divorced, I was like, damn, the way y'all was talking
[01:01:42] [SPEAKER_01]: about child relationship at every time, every time I looked up at these educational conferences
[01:01:45] [SPEAKER_01]: and stuff like y'all was the keynotes.
[01:01:46] [SPEAKER_01]: What's happening?
[01:01:47] [SPEAKER_01]: They wrote a book together.
[01:01:49] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[01:01:49] [SPEAKER_01]: And, and, uh, lied in all our faces, scammers, all of them.
[01:01:53] [SPEAKER_01]: Um, so this is bad.
[01:01:55] [SPEAKER_01]: They've now beat up Dallas, but we know he got a ratchet family.
[01:01:57] [SPEAKER_01]: Uh, the next day we see that Dallas is now outside the bank, battered and bruised.
[01:02:03] [SPEAKER_01]: He's waiting there and, uh, they have to get a restraining order, but she says, I ain't
[01:02:07] [SPEAKER_01]: afraid.
[01:02:07] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't need no restraining order.
[01:02:08] [SPEAKER_01]: And to which case I say, what?
[01:02:10] [SPEAKER_01]: Right.
[01:02:11] [SPEAKER_01]: Since when?
[01:02:13] [SPEAKER_01]: You should have got a restraining order against this man when you were married.
[01:02:16] [SPEAKER_01]: Why are you saying he won now when he's stalking you?
[01:02:19] [SPEAKER_01]: What sense does this make?
[01:02:21] [SPEAKER_02]: Ridiculous.
[01:02:22] [SPEAKER_02]: Didn't make it not a lick of sense.
[01:02:24] [SPEAKER_00]: Also.
[01:02:25] [SPEAKER_00]: That's not a chance.
[01:02:25] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm trying to figure out what did make sense in.
[01:02:28] [SPEAKER_00]: Well, I got something that might've made a little sense.
[01:02:32] [SPEAKER_01]: Uh, in retaliation to getting his ass beat and thrown into the car and shooed off of
[01:02:36] [SPEAKER_01]: the property.
[01:02:38] [SPEAKER_01]: Uh, Dallas has, uh, poisoned all the farm animals.
[01:02:42] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh yeah.
[01:02:43] [SPEAKER_01]: That, uh, Benji takes care of.
[01:02:46] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[01:02:47] [SPEAKER_01]: Rude.
[01:02:47] [SPEAKER_01]: So I guess, I guess just murdering the farm animals.
[01:02:52] [SPEAKER_01]: Nobody, nobody can arrest this guy.
[01:02:54] [SPEAKER_01]: They tell the sheriff, he's like, well, we know that no proof.
[01:02:57] [SPEAKER_02]: That's sheriff.
[01:02:59] [SPEAKER_02]: They found like the most, like a big white dude with like white hair.
[01:03:04] [SPEAKER_02]: They're just, just ineffectual.
[01:03:07] [SPEAKER_02]: Just every scene.
[01:03:08] [SPEAKER_02]: He's like, well, nothing we can do about it.
[01:03:12] [SPEAKER_02]: Like everything with his accent.
[01:03:15] [SPEAKER_02]: Like it was such a, like a, um, like a small town cop type thing.
[01:03:21] [SPEAKER_02]: Like they got officer Barb Brady out here.
[01:03:23] [SPEAKER_02]: Like every time.
[01:03:25] [SPEAKER_02]: It don't make no sense.
[01:03:26] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[01:03:27] [SPEAKER_01]: Um, um, Dallas will eventually pull up on Ava's mom at the grocery store.
[01:03:31] [SPEAKER_01]: And he, this is, okay.
[01:03:34] [SPEAKER_01]: I love me some Debbie Morgan, but also what this man corners her in the, in the like produce
[01:03:40] [SPEAKER_01]: aisle.
[01:03:41] [SPEAKER_01]: Like now you listen to me and she's like, you hot and you drunk and you the devil.
[01:03:45] [SPEAKER_01]: You fool.
[01:03:45] [SPEAKER_01]: You fool.
[01:03:46] [SPEAKER_01]: And it just runs out of the store.
[01:03:48] [SPEAKER_01]: He's like, Oh bitch.
[01:03:48] [SPEAKER_01]: I said, what is happening?
[01:03:50] [SPEAKER_01]: Nobody going to step in and help this elderly woman.
[01:03:52] [SPEAKER_01]: This is going to let them get beat up in the, in the, in the milk aisle.
[01:03:55] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, we really going to do this.
[01:03:56] [SPEAKER_01]: Hey, Asia.
[01:03:57] [SPEAKER_00]: Someone, someone did a really good reenactment of it on TikTok.
[01:04:01] [SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
[01:04:03] [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, it's crap.
[01:04:04] [SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
[01:04:05] [SPEAKER_00]: I was going to see.
[01:04:06] [SPEAKER_00]: It was hilarious.
[01:04:07] [SPEAKER_00]: They had this girl in the background that was like, get every shot.
[01:04:12] Oh my God.
[01:04:14] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh my God.
[01:04:15] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh.
[01:04:16] [SPEAKER_01]: So, so protect that.
[01:04:18] [SPEAKER_01]: So to protect Ava further, they have now changed all the locks at the house.
[01:04:21] [SPEAKER_01]: They got cameras and guns.
[01:04:23] [SPEAKER_01]: Daddy got some hollow points.
[01:04:24] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, you got a hollow point.
[01:04:28] [SPEAKER_01]: Ava said, I mean, but is this really necessary?
[01:04:31] [SPEAKER_01]: And in my notes, I put girl, shut up.
[01:04:33] [SPEAKER_01]: What do you, what do you mean?
[01:04:35] [SPEAKER_01]: Is this necessary?
[01:04:36] [SPEAKER_01]: This man has tried to beat y'all.
[01:04:38] [SPEAKER_01]: He's trying to kill y'all.
[01:04:40] [SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
[01:04:41] [SPEAKER_01]: Um, so then to make matters worse, Jim and Rona decide, let's go on a double date.
[01:04:48] [SPEAKER_01]: Let's take Ava and Benji out on a double date and we're going to kick it.
[01:04:52] [SPEAKER_01]: And nothing could possibly go wrong here, Asia.
[01:04:54] [SPEAKER_00]: No, no.
[01:04:55] [SPEAKER_00]: Why would we think that the man that's stalking you wouldn't show up?
[01:04:59] [SPEAKER_00]: Like, but they were at their house.
[01:05:02] [SPEAKER_02]: Yep.
[01:05:03] [SPEAKER_02]: Yep.
[01:05:03] [SPEAKER_02]: Some place he knows.
[01:05:04] [SPEAKER_02]: They were in Jim and Rona's house when he was in their backyard.
[01:05:09] [SPEAKER_01]: He just walked in because this is his best friend's house.
[01:05:12] [SPEAKER_00]: He already said a locked door won't stop him.
[01:05:16] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[01:05:17] [SPEAKER_01]: And he proved it.
[01:05:18] [SPEAKER_00]: Like, and to hear that, like if I'm Ava, why am I not now terrified?
[01:05:24] [SPEAKER_00]: Because.
[01:05:25] [SPEAKER_01]: No, she said, is this is too much?
[01:05:26] [SPEAKER_01]: Is this really necessary, Asia?
[01:05:31] [SPEAKER_00]: Literally, like, okay.
[01:05:32] [SPEAKER_00]: It's one thing to be like, look, I just want to get that it scratched by just like trying
[01:05:39] [SPEAKER_00]: to like move on really fast.
[01:05:41] [SPEAKER_00]: You're going on double dates.
[01:05:43] [SPEAKER_00]: Like.
[01:05:43] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[01:05:44] [SPEAKER_00]: What are you doing?
[01:05:45] [SPEAKER_01]: There couldn't have been that much time that has passed either.
[01:05:48] [SPEAKER_01]: As y'all both pointed out, it's like, y'all, you know.
[01:05:50] [SPEAKER_00]: No, we're in the same month.
[01:05:52] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[01:05:52] [SPEAKER_01]: It's probably like nine to 11 days later, you know.
[01:05:55] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[01:05:56] [SPEAKER_01]: At best.
[01:05:57] [SPEAKER_01]: So, of course, he shows up to the double date and he's mad.
[01:06:02] [SPEAKER_01]: He's cussing them all out and all this other stuff.
[01:06:05] [SPEAKER_01]: And this is where Rona looks at Jim and says, do something.
[01:06:09] [SPEAKER_01]: And Jim's like, hey, man, you got to chill.
[01:06:11] [SPEAKER_01]: You got to chill.
[01:06:13] [SPEAKER_01]: And he's like, oh, really?
[01:06:14] [SPEAKER_01]: Really?
[01:06:14] [SPEAKER_01]: He's like, yeah, because you disrespected my wife now.
[01:06:16] [SPEAKER_01]: He's like, oh, really?
[01:06:16] [SPEAKER_01]: Well, where was that when you when you was out here with Kelly?
[01:06:20] [SPEAKER_01]: And I'm like, oh, Kelly.
[01:06:22] [SPEAKER_01]: And I'm thinking, oh, well, I mean, who's Kelly?
[01:06:25] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, we don't we don't know nothing about Kelly.
[01:06:27] [SPEAKER_01]: I really have to have to ask.
[01:06:30] [SPEAKER_01]: What was the point of this here?
[01:06:34] [SPEAKER_01]: Jim has kissed another woman or something like that in the past 10, 15 years.
[01:06:40] [SPEAKER_01]: And it's now a part of the plot.
[01:06:42] [SPEAKER_01]: Mari, what does it mean?
[01:06:44] [SPEAKER_02]: Why do my notes say who is Kelly?
[01:06:47] [SPEAKER_02]: Who is Kelly?
[01:06:48] [SPEAKER_02]: And why you ain't beat her up?
[01:06:50] [SPEAKER_02]: What?
[01:06:52] [SPEAKER_02]: What was I talking to?
[01:06:56] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, my God.
[01:06:57] [SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.
[01:06:58] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm like, you know, I thought Tyler Perry thought this was going to be the big bomb drop.
[01:07:04] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
[01:07:05] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, we thought he was a good guy.
[01:07:07] [SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
[01:07:08] [SPEAKER_02]: But what about Kelly?
[01:07:10] [SPEAKER_02]: And then Rona was like, oh, I know about Kelly.
[01:07:13] [SPEAKER_02]: I was like, oh.
[01:07:15] [SPEAKER_02]: But did she know you've been messing with her for years?
[01:07:17] [SPEAKER_02]: And she was like, that's a lie.
[01:07:19] [SPEAKER_02]: I didn't mess with her for years.
[01:07:20] [SPEAKER_02]: So it's just like, Rona was like, I'm mad.
[01:07:24] [SPEAKER_00]: Right.
[01:07:24] [SPEAKER_00]: It was fun.
[01:07:27] [SPEAKER_00]: Like, what are we doing now?
[01:07:30] [SPEAKER_00]: What are we doing?
[01:07:31] [SPEAKER_00]: Why are we all of a sudden focused on their relationship?
[01:07:34] [SPEAKER_00]: They are just supposed to be the best friends.
[01:07:36] [SPEAKER_00]: That's it.
[01:07:37] [SPEAKER_02]: Which is crazy because this is so funny that this is what it is, because like earlier in
[01:07:43] [SPEAKER_02]: my notes, I was just like, I said, Rona better not die.
[01:07:46] [SPEAKER_02]: I don't know why.
[01:07:47] [SPEAKER_02]: Like, we were all expecting like a huge weird time.
[01:07:52] [SPEAKER_02]: Something to happen.
[01:07:54] [SPEAKER_01]: Nope.
[01:07:55] [SPEAKER_01]: Just the Kelly.
[01:07:56] [SPEAKER_01]: And so that's it.
[01:07:58] [SPEAKER_01]: That's the only time Kelly comes up in conversation.
[01:08:00] [SPEAKER_01]: We don't address anything else with infidelity or anything like that.
[01:08:03] [SPEAKER_01]: We don't ask about Kelly.
[01:08:04] [SPEAKER_01]: We don't see Kelly.
[01:08:05] [SPEAKER_01]: It's just a random one offline in the movie.
[01:08:07] [SPEAKER_01]: Like, what about Kelly?
[01:08:09] [SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
[01:08:09] [SPEAKER_01]: Well, it's kind of a lie.
[01:08:10] [SPEAKER_01]: All right.
[01:08:10] [SPEAKER_01]: Well, moving on.
[01:08:12] [SPEAKER_01]: So the cashier ends up telling the dad here, Ava's dad, that Dallas has put his hands
[01:08:21] [SPEAKER_01]: on his beautiful baby.
[01:08:23] [SPEAKER_01]: And so dad is about that action.
[01:08:25] [SPEAKER_01]: He goes to get his gun and he's about to pull up to the trailer park.
[01:08:30] [SPEAKER_01]: And meanwhile, mama, Debbie Morgan is there.
[01:08:33] [SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
[01:08:37] [SPEAKER_01]: I was like, okay.
[01:08:38] [SPEAKER_01]: All right.
[01:08:39] [SPEAKER_01]: All right.
[01:08:40] [SPEAKER_01]: And they do.
[01:08:41] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, they pretty much kill Clarence.
[01:08:43] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, he survives, but he showed up with a shotgun basically and got jumped by like what?
[01:08:50] [SPEAKER_01]: A family of like seven at this point?
[01:08:52] [SPEAKER_00]: Like, why would you show up knowing it was going to be that many people?
[01:08:55] [SPEAKER_00]: You know how many people live there.
[01:08:58] [SPEAKER_01]: If you weren't going to shoot, you should have showed up shooting the gun.
[01:09:00] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, you show up like trying to threaten these people.
[01:09:03] [SPEAKER_01]: Your first shot should have been a headshot.
[01:09:05] [SPEAKER_00]: And we started the movie with you knowing that they're not above it.
[01:09:10] [SPEAKER_00]: They're no better than that.
[01:09:12] [SPEAKER_02]: You may want to point it out.
[01:09:14] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[01:09:15] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[01:09:16] [SPEAKER_01]: So they shot him and they beat his ass.
[01:09:18] [SPEAKER_01]: And because he hesitated.
[01:09:19] [SPEAKER_01]: When they pull up, they end up having to call 911.
[01:09:23] [SPEAKER_01]: Of course, as we know, mom is very sad.
[01:09:26] [SPEAKER_01]: Jean, she's crying because they're trying to get the police on the case, but they need proof.
[01:09:32] [SPEAKER_01]: And for some reason, Clarence just ain't talking.
[01:09:34] [SPEAKER_01]: I guess it's because he's in the hospital.
[01:09:35] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
[01:09:36] [SPEAKER_01]: And so he can't identify his attackers.
[01:09:41] [SPEAKER_01]: He's not doing good.
[01:09:44] [SPEAKER_01]: He's actually not and beat up.
[01:09:46] [SPEAKER_01]: And he's old.
[01:09:47] [SPEAKER_01]: And so, you know, not bouncing back from this one anytime.
[01:09:50] [SPEAKER_01]: So Ava has disappeared.
[01:09:53] [SPEAKER_01]: Sorry, they didn't say diagnosis or anything.
[01:09:55] [SPEAKER_01]: They're just like, he's not good.
[01:09:58] [SPEAKER_01]: He's not good.
[01:10:00] [SPEAKER_01]: Not good.
[01:10:01] [SPEAKER_01]: Not good.
[01:10:03] [SPEAKER_01]: Asia, Ava has disappeared.
[01:10:09] [SPEAKER_01]: And Benji is getting pics and a phone call from Ava.
[01:10:13] [SPEAKER_01]: And she, I'm sorry.
[01:10:19] [SPEAKER_01]: Ava has disappeared.
[01:10:21] [SPEAKER_01]: And she decides, all right, I need to call my husband.
[01:10:25] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to call Dallas and I'm going to tell him.
[01:10:27] [SPEAKER_01]: And I'm going to lure him, I guess, back to the house.
[01:10:29] [SPEAKER_01]: He says, just so you know, Benji was the best I ever had.
[01:10:34] [SPEAKER_01]: And I'm going home to like love with him.
[01:10:36] [SPEAKER_01]: And now you can't stop me.
[01:10:39] [SPEAKER_01]: I'll be at our home address.
[01:10:40] [SPEAKER_01]: Goodbye.
[01:10:42] [SPEAKER_01]: And this is her big plan.
[01:10:43] [SPEAKER_01]: So Asia, I thought when they got there, she was going to ambush him.
[01:10:47] [SPEAKER_01]: And they were going to jump him or shoot him or something like that.
[01:10:50] [SPEAKER_00]: No.
[01:10:52] [SPEAKER_00]: She acted like she needed him to hit her.
[01:10:55] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[01:10:56] [SPEAKER_00]: As if she doesn't have pages on pages.
[01:11:01] [SPEAKER_00]: He's done to her.
[01:11:03] [SPEAKER_00]: Why do you need to act in self-defense in this moment when we all, the whole town knows what he's capable of?
[01:11:12] [SPEAKER_01]: When he comes to the door, she should just shoot him in the face and be like, he hit me.
[01:11:17] [SPEAKER_01]: Because it's not a lie.
[01:11:19] [SPEAKER_01]: It's the truth.
[01:11:20] [SPEAKER_01]: It's the truth.
[01:11:21] [SPEAKER_02]: She's like, no, I need you to hit me now.
[01:11:23] [SPEAKER_02]: It needs to be fresh.
[01:11:25] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
[01:11:26] [SPEAKER_02]: I think, and sadly, I think that was the twist.
[01:11:29] [SPEAKER_02]: I think the twist was like, she lured him back to her house.
[01:11:33] [SPEAKER_02]: She lured him to like strike her so that she could then shoot him and then plead like, you know, self-defense or stand on your ground.
[01:11:42] [SPEAKER_02]: And it's like technically full circle because his brother, who they took out of the casket, died in the same way.
[01:11:51] [SPEAKER_02]: He was robbing some lady and some lady like shot him.
[01:11:55] [SPEAKER_02]: Shot him.
[01:11:56] [SPEAKER_02]: So it was like all of the warning from the beginning of the movie comes back full circle and she does that.
[01:12:03] [SPEAKER_02]: She kills him.
[01:12:04] [SPEAKER_02]: And it's like, it's finally over.
[01:12:06] [SPEAKER_02]: And then it's like also like all of the breadcrumbs is like she had, he had a, she had a restraining order against him.
[01:12:12] [SPEAKER_02]: She's been reporting him for stalking.
[01:12:14] [SPEAKER_02]: He's here.
[01:12:15] [SPEAKER_02]: He hit her like, ha ha ha ha ha.
[01:12:17] [SPEAKER_02]: The master plan, she's able to kill him and get away with it.
[01:12:22] [SPEAKER_02]: And it's just like, okay.
[01:12:28] [SPEAKER_01]: Did you hurt my daddy?
[01:12:30] [SPEAKER_01]: Did you put your hands on my mama?
[01:12:32] [SPEAKER_01]: And he's like, yes.
[01:12:33] [SPEAKER_01]: And she's like, oh, okay.
[01:12:35] [SPEAKER_01]: He's like, a good woman is faithful to a father.
[01:12:37] [SPEAKER_01]: I never disrespect you.
[01:12:38] [SPEAKER_01]: I was like, it's okay.
[01:12:39] [SPEAKER_01]: He's dumb or something because there's no reason he could ever think this.
[01:12:42] [SPEAKER_01]: Like this, this man is not okay.
[01:12:44] [SPEAKER_01]: He's not okay.
[01:12:45] [SPEAKER_01]: And so she does lure him into beating her up and she, and, and, and he does.
[01:12:51] [SPEAKER_01]: And then at that point, like Mari said, she has all the proof she needs.
[01:12:55] [SPEAKER_01]: All the evidence is stacked in her favor.
[01:12:56] [SPEAKER_01]: She grabs the gun.
[01:12:58] [SPEAKER_01]: She shot him in the leg at first.
[01:13:00] [SPEAKER_01]: And then she killed him.
[01:13:01] [SPEAKER_01]: I was like, okay, cool.
[01:13:02] [SPEAKER_01]: As long as you kill him.
[01:13:02] [SPEAKER_01]: Cause this shot in the leg thing.
[01:13:03] [SPEAKER_01]: I was like, all right, ma'am.
[01:13:05] [SPEAKER_00]: She blew him the way.
[01:13:07] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[01:13:07] [SPEAKER_00]: I was like, okay.
[01:13:08] [SPEAKER_00]: He's not surviving that.
[01:13:11] [SPEAKER_01]: But we get a cliffhanger ending.
[01:13:13] [SPEAKER_01]: Asia, you think this is over?
[01:13:15] [SPEAKER_01]: You killed my boy.
[01:13:17] [SPEAKER_01]: This shit ain't over.
[01:13:19] [SPEAKER_01]: What?
[01:13:21] [SPEAKER_01]: Divorce in the black too?
[01:13:23] [SPEAKER_01]: Coming soon?
[01:13:25] [SPEAKER_01]: Mama's revenge?
[01:13:26] [SPEAKER_00]: Divorce in the black too ever saw the light of day.
[01:13:30] [SPEAKER_00]: Well, we, we already know so many people would be watching to see the, the revenge of the
[01:13:38] [SPEAKER_00]: Bertram's, but it doesn't need to happen.
[01:13:42] [SPEAKER_00]: And I really hope that like that put a pin in it, let everybody's imaginations run wild
[01:13:47] [SPEAKER_00]: with what they're capable of and what they're going to do to that family.
[01:13:51] [SPEAKER_00]: Because what, what did she say?
[01:13:52] [SPEAKER_00]: She's like, you know, you know what you do to a good, like when you push a good woman
[01:13:57] [SPEAKER_00]: too far.
[01:13:58] [SPEAKER_01]: That's the moral.
[01:13:59] [SPEAKER_01]: That's the moral of the story.
[01:14:01] [SPEAKER_01]: Asia.
[01:14:01] [SPEAKER_00]: Never.
[01:14:01] [SPEAKER_01]: Don't push a good woman too far.
[01:14:04] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
[01:14:05] [SPEAKER_02]: You had to explain it to me.
[01:14:06] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
[01:14:06] [SPEAKER_01]: We made it.
[01:14:07] [SPEAKER_01]: We made it.
[01:14:08] [SPEAKER_01]: We found the moral of the story.
[01:14:11] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
[01:14:12] [SPEAKER_00]: And good women too far.
[01:14:14] [SPEAKER_02]: And the funny thing is that I thought that I, I kind of thought this was a whole setup
[01:14:19] [SPEAKER_02]: for like a black version of the strangers.
[01:14:22] [SPEAKER_02]: You know what I'm saying?
[01:14:23] [SPEAKER_02]: Like, like her running around the house and they're like trying to get into the house.
[01:14:27] [SPEAKER_02]: I thought that's what it was going to be near the end.
[01:14:29] [SPEAKER_02]: And I was like, I guess not.
[01:14:31] [SPEAKER_02]: Like, Tyler Hoi has such a reputation of stuff being so outlandish.
[01:14:37] [SPEAKER_02]: And that opening scene was so outlandish that the whole time the movie is the whole runtime
[01:14:44] [SPEAKER_02]: of the movie.
[01:14:44] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm thinking of all the wild things that are going to happen in this movie.
[01:14:47] [SPEAKER_02]: And it honestly wasn't that wild.
[01:14:51] [SPEAKER_02]: It's actually like a run of the mill type of stock or lifetime movie.
[01:14:58] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
[01:14:59] [SPEAKER_02]: Except for, I guess the tweak in the fact that he was the one who asked for the divorce.
[01:15:03] [SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.
[01:15:04] [SPEAKER_02]: Right.
[01:15:04] [SPEAKER_00]: That was just like, okay.
[01:15:06] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[01:15:07] [SPEAKER_02]: Solid papers woman.
[01:15:08] [SPEAKER_01]: Crazy.
[01:15:10] [SPEAKER_01]: Um, so all of that to say, and Asia brought it up.
[01:15:14] [SPEAKER_01]: Divorce in the black too.
[01:15:16] [SPEAKER_01]: If it ever drops, Asia's already identified that people are going to watch it.
[01:15:21] [SPEAKER_01]: So Mari, you put an O on this.
[01:15:24] [SPEAKER_01]: Clickbait.
[01:15:25] [SPEAKER_01]: Is Tyler Perry just creating clickbait?
[01:15:27] [SPEAKER_01]: Because due to the story about the funeral and the casket, we all went and watched this
[01:15:33] [SPEAKER_01]: movie.
[01:15:33] [SPEAKER_01]: We've talked about the movie now.
[01:15:35] [SPEAKER_01]: And if they come up with a divorce in the black too, I'd be hard pressed to say people
[01:15:39] [SPEAKER_01]: aren't going to check it out just to see if there's another scene that is as crazy as the
[01:15:43] [SPEAKER_01]: casket scene.
[01:15:44] [SPEAKER_01]: So have you landed on it?
[01:15:46] [SPEAKER_02]: I think so.
[01:15:47] [SPEAKER_02]: Because now knowing that, like Asia told us that that scene was added the day before
[01:15:53] [SPEAKER_02]: they're shooting, that makes sense.
[01:15:55] [SPEAKER_02]: Because now that I've seen the whole movie again, for a Tyler Perry style movie, this
[01:16:01] [SPEAKER_02]: is like kind of low key in a sense.
[01:16:04] [SPEAKER_02]: Um, except for that, except for that scene.
[01:16:08] [SPEAKER_02]: And like, like I said, it's, I didn't, I didn't, I, even though she looked stupid at
[01:16:13] [SPEAKER_02]: the beginning, I still think she kind of came away with a little bit of self, you know,
[01:16:17] [SPEAKER_02]: self-esteem.
[01:16:18] [SPEAKER_02]: And she killed him.
[01:16:19] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
[01:16:19] [SPEAKER_02]: And she got him.
[01:16:20] [SPEAKER_02]: Right.
[01:16:21] [SPEAKER_02]: The ultimate power move.
[01:16:23] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
[01:16:24] [SPEAKER_02]: Pushed a good girl too far.
[01:16:25] [SPEAKER_02]: Exactly.
[01:16:26] [SPEAKER_02]: And my TT got back to me.
[01:16:27] [SPEAKER_02]: She said, she said, um, I liked it.
[01:16:32] [SPEAKER_02]: Everyone played their roles well.
[01:16:33] [SPEAKER_02]: The husband definitely played his awesome.
[01:16:35] [SPEAKER_02]: He was crazy.
[01:16:36] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
[01:16:37] [SPEAKER_03]: There you go.
[01:16:39] [SPEAKER_00]: Do you have my mom's number?
[01:16:40] [SPEAKER_00]: That's not a character.
[01:16:43] Yeah.
[01:16:45] [SPEAKER_01]: Um, that's a good point.
[01:16:47] [SPEAKER_01]: Asia, my question for you is, would you have even watched this movie if it wasn't for the
[01:16:50] [SPEAKER_01]: funeral scene?
[01:16:53] [SPEAKER_01]: Could we have taken it out and put the movie of work?
[01:16:55] [SPEAKER_01]: I guess is what I'm asking.
[01:16:57] [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, could the movie have worked without that?
[01:16:59] [SPEAKER_00]: Absolutely.
[01:17:00] [SPEAKER_00]: I think he's still an awful husband, right?
[01:17:03] [SPEAKER_00]: Like he's still an awful like human and how he navigates life.
[01:17:07] [SPEAKER_00]: Like, I think all things could remain the same without that absurd scene.
[01:17:12] [SPEAKER_00]: But would it have the viewership that it has?
[01:17:15] [SPEAKER_00]: No.
[01:17:16] [SPEAKER_00]: Because like you said, no one else is talking about any other part of the movie to reel people
[01:17:20] [SPEAKER_00]: in.
[01:17:21] [SPEAKER_00]: Like at that point, then it's like, oh, did you see him yell at that restaurant?
[01:17:27] [SPEAKER_00]: People aren't talking about that just like as like widespread on the internet.
[01:17:32] [SPEAKER_00]: So like he, he, he got the attention, which was that scene.
[01:17:36] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
[01:17:37] [SPEAKER_00]: And then the rest of the movie.
[01:17:39] [SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, I think like, but would I have personally watched it even without, so without
[01:17:46] [SPEAKER_00]: this podcast?
[01:17:47] [SPEAKER_00]: Probably not.
[01:17:48] [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, probably not.
[01:17:50] [SPEAKER_00]: It had to be a perfect scenario where I'm back in Dallas visiting my mom and she's like,
[01:17:54] [SPEAKER_00]: we need a movie to watch.
[01:17:56] [SPEAKER_00]: Let's turn it on.
[01:17:57] [SPEAKER_00]: I really want to see it.
[01:17:58] [SPEAKER_00]: And then I watched it and then I would have fallen asleep.
[01:18:02] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[01:18:02] [SPEAKER_01]: I think that goes, that goes to answer our question.
[01:18:05] [SPEAKER_01]: I think that Tyler Perry makes Tyler Perry films.
[01:18:08] [SPEAKER_01]: I actually am a bit of a Tyler Perry apologist in that, that the people that like his movies,
[01:18:13] [SPEAKER_01]: like his movies.
[01:18:14] [SPEAKER_01]: And he makes the movies for the people who like his movies.
[01:18:16] [SPEAKER_01]: And as we can see, the numbers reflect that the people who do like his movies will go watch
[01:18:20] [SPEAKER_01]: them.
[01:18:20] [SPEAKER_01]: We've talked about kind of like the generation or the, that, that he's writing these movies
[01:18:25] [SPEAKER_01]: for.
[01:18:25] [SPEAKER_01]: We talked about Marius Titi, Asia's mom, my mom.
[01:18:27] [SPEAKER_01]: They did not have any huge problems with it, you know, because the movie is for them.
[01:18:31] [SPEAKER_01]: And so Tyler Perry has found his niche and he is catering to the people that like Tyler
[01:18:35] [SPEAKER_01]: Perry films.
[01:18:36] [SPEAKER_01]: That said, I think that there's a lot of clickbait that might be involved in it.
[01:18:40] [SPEAKER_01]: If you go in at the last minute at this, this very, um, outlandish scene, unorthodox
[01:18:47] [SPEAKER_01]: scene, stick it at the very beginning.
[01:18:49] [SPEAKER_01]: And that's all anybody can talk about.
[01:18:50] [SPEAKER_01]: So if we have to, if I have to ask, if I have to ask myself, honestly, uh, if Tyler
[01:18:57] [SPEAKER_01]: Perry is just doing this for the clicks, I'd have to say, yeah.
[01:18:59] [SPEAKER_01]: And I have to say that I too am interested to see what happens next, because how do you
[01:19:03] [SPEAKER_01]: top the body out of the casket?
[01:19:07] [SPEAKER_01]: I know people say, Oh, well this, you can hear these stories everywhere.
[01:19:11] [SPEAKER_01]: Blah, blah, blah.
[01:19:11] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't think I've ever heard the tale of somebody snatching the body out of the casket
[01:19:17] [SPEAKER_01]: and being like, y'all keep y'all casket.
[01:19:18] [SPEAKER_01]: I'll just throw the bed, I'll just throw the body in the back of my trunk.
[01:19:21] [SPEAKER_01]: Asia, what's up?
[01:19:22] [SPEAKER_00]: How about this?
[01:19:23] [SPEAKER_00]: The next one where this one was like a drama.
[01:19:26] [SPEAKER_00]: The next one is a horror film and they are trying, they, they, it starts out with them
[01:19:31] [SPEAKER_00]: burying him, but then the mom's like, dig him up.
[01:19:35] [SPEAKER_00]: We're going to go put him in her house.
[01:19:38] [SPEAKER_00]: We're going to go put him in her house and, uh, prop him up against the wall.
[01:19:44] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[01:19:44] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[01:19:46] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm trying to, like a taxidermist, you know?
[01:19:50] [SPEAKER_02]: He's like, uh, by the window.
[01:19:57] [SPEAKER_02]: Did you see, uh, when Tyler Perry, uh, was talking to Kiki Palmer and he basically said
[01:20:06] [SPEAKER_02]: that it is the uppity black, black people that don't like him and that, that critique his
[01:20:13] [SPEAKER_02]: work and that, you know, he tries to tell experiences of people like him, people who are
[01:20:20] [SPEAKER_02]: like, like down on their luck and stuff.
[01:20:22] [SPEAKER_02]: And it's the uppity Negroes that don't agree.
[01:20:24] [SPEAKER_02]: And it's like, you're a billionaire, Tyler.
[01:20:27] [SPEAKER_01]: Tyler.
[01:20:28] [SPEAKER_01]: You haven't been those people in a long time, Tyler Perry.
[01:20:31] [SPEAKER_01]: You, you know what I mean?
[01:20:32] [SPEAKER_02]: A very long time.
[01:20:33] [SPEAKER_02]: And we're not talking about the stories that you are.
[01:20:36] [SPEAKER_02]: It's not the content of your stories that we're saying.
[01:20:42] [SPEAKER_00]: More so the execution.
[01:20:43] [SPEAKER_00]: The execution.
[01:20:44] [SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
[01:20:44] [SPEAKER_02]: It is definitely the execution.
[01:20:48] [SPEAKER_02]: So he, dumb.
[01:20:51] [SPEAKER_02]: It was so stupid.
[01:20:51] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
[01:20:53] [SPEAKER_01]: It was, but it was fun.
[01:20:55] [SPEAKER_01]: I think we had a good time watching it and talking about it here on recap kickbacks.
[01:20:59] [SPEAKER_01]: So overall, would I ever recommend this movie for anybody?
[01:21:01] [SPEAKER_01]: No, probably not.
[01:21:02] [SPEAKER_01]: Unless you wanted to laugh at it, you know, unless you want to have a good laugh, like Asia
[01:21:05] [SPEAKER_01]: said, but I would definitely recommend the first seven minutes.
[01:21:08] [SPEAKER_01]: I think everybody needs to see that absurdity.
[01:21:11] [SPEAKER_01]: So, uh, Tyler Perry, whatever you're doing is working and I, you know, I, I'd be rooting
[01:21:15] [SPEAKER_01]: for everybody black.
[01:21:16] [SPEAKER_01]: So I hope that you continue doing what you're doing, but hire writers, hire writers.
[01:21:21] [SPEAKER_01]: Tyler Perry, you don't have to write everything.
[01:21:24] [SPEAKER_01]: You don't have to do that.
[01:21:25] [SPEAKER_01]: You can share the wealth.
[01:21:26] [SPEAKER_01]: If you want to, if you're looking out for the downtrodden black people, the down and
[01:21:29] [SPEAKER_01]: unlawed people, give them jobs, give them jobs, you know, pay for people.
[01:21:33] [SPEAKER_00]: It doesn't say written, directed, produced by Tyler Perry.
[01:21:37] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't want it.
[01:21:38] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[01:21:39] [SPEAKER_01]: And, and, and, and that's, that's okay.
[01:21:41] [SPEAKER_01]: I just want you to, to, to not do that, Tyler Perry.
[01:21:44] [SPEAKER_01]: And so, you know, I did appreciate this for what it was and I appreciated that it brought,
[01:21:49] [SPEAKER_01]: brought us this podcast and it brought Asia to recap kickback Asia.
[01:21:53] [SPEAKER_01]: Thank you.
[01:21:54] [SPEAKER_01]: Thank you for joining us.
[01:21:55] [SPEAKER_00]: Thank you for having me.
[01:21:56] [SPEAKER_00]: I am so glad I was finally able to come on and talk to y'all about this.
[01:22:01] [SPEAKER_00]: This was so fun.
[01:22:03] [SPEAKER_00]: Um, it, it really was the highlight of the watching experience because had I just watched
[01:22:10] [SPEAKER_00]: it and moved throughout my life, I would have been like, why did I waste two hours?
[01:22:14] [SPEAKER_00]: What?
[01:22:14] [SPEAKER_00]: Even an hour and a half.
[01:22:15] [SPEAKER_02]: It was two hours.
[01:22:17] [SPEAKER_02]: It was legit two hours.
[01:22:18] [SPEAKER_00]: And it took me so long to get through because I kept pausing it to do other stuff.
[01:22:24] [SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
[01:22:25] [SPEAKER_00]: Watch something more entertaining.
[01:22:26] [SPEAKER_00]: Um, but I did want to circle back to, we had pointed out that smart guy was Corey Hardick's,
[01:22:32] [SPEAKER_00]: like one of his earliest TV things.
[01:22:34] [SPEAKER_00]: And then the fact that he was with Tia, like it wasn't a coincidence.
[01:22:38] [SPEAKER_00]: So smart guy filmed from 97 to 99 and Corey and Tia got together in 2000.
[01:22:46] [SPEAKER_00]: So I bet they met there.
[01:22:47] [SPEAKER_01]: They probably met on the show.
[01:22:49] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[01:22:50] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[01:22:50] [SPEAKER_01]: That's fair.
[01:22:51] [SPEAKER_01]: That's fair.
[01:22:51] [SPEAKER_01]: Or maybe they met before that and that's how he got the role.
[01:22:54] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, it's not like, yeah, he wasn't a main character.
[01:22:57] [SPEAKER_01]: He was just the kid, uh, on, uh, on an episode of smart guy, but you know, Tia and Tamara
[01:23:03] [SPEAKER_01]: were closely, I mean, they were, there was some overlap between smart guy and their show
[01:23:06] [SPEAKER_01]: sister, sister, for sure.
[01:23:07] [SPEAKER_01]: Their brother Taj being on that show as well.
[01:23:10] [SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, maybe they're from the same agency or whatever.
[01:23:12] [SPEAKER_01]: So it led to a love story that has since ended as well.
[01:23:15] [SPEAKER_01]: Um, hopefully that divorce ended in the black, uh, Asia, could you tell everybody where they
[01:23:20] [SPEAKER_01]: can find you and what you, what else you have going on?
[01:23:23] [SPEAKER_01]: And, uh, you know, if they can expect to see you back on recap, kick back.
[01:23:27] [SPEAKER_00]: You could definitely expect to see me back on recap, kick back.
[01:23:30] [SPEAKER_00]: Now that I, it's, it's happened the first time, like I can come back, you know, I was,
[01:23:35] [SPEAKER_00]: I was so nervous, you know, I didn't know if I could, y'all are always so entertaining
[01:23:40] [SPEAKER_00]: and funny.
[01:23:41] [SPEAKER_00]: I, you know, I didn't know if I could stack up y'all can find y'all can find me at Asia
[01:23:48] [SPEAKER_00]: like Asia.
[01:23:48] [SPEAKER_00]: That's a Y S H a like A S I a on all social media platforms right now.
[01:23:53] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm just podcasting about big brother 26.
[01:23:56] [SPEAKER_00]: You can catch me on like live feed updates for the most part.
[01:23:59] [SPEAKER_00]: Um, and yeah, just give me a follow.
[01:24:01] [SPEAKER_00]: I post a lot of my dogs.
[01:24:03] [SPEAKER_00]: If you're watching on YouTube, you see my dogs behind me.
[01:24:06] [SPEAKER_00]: I post them a lot on Instagram.
[01:24:08] [SPEAKER_00]: So if you love dog content, give me a follow.
[01:24:12] [SPEAKER_01]: All right.
[01:24:13] [SPEAKER_01]: Thank you so much.
[01:24:14] [SPEAKER_01]: And Mari, what about you?
[01:24:15] [SPEAKER_01]: What else do you have going on?
[01:24:17] [SPEAKER_02]: Um, of course, every Tuesday, me and Sarah Carradine bring you true crime Tuesdays over
[01:24:22] [SPEAKER_02]: on RHAP with the crime scene podcast.
[01:24:24] [SPEAKER_02]: That's crime S E E N, uh, podcast, crime scene podcast.
[01:24:30] [SPEAKER_02]: Um, this week, me and Sarah went at it alone where we recapped, uh, Sasha Reed and the midnight
[01:24:38] [SPEAKER_02]: order.
[01:24:40] [SPEAKER_02]: It was a five part docuseries.
[01:24:44] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, um, yes.
[01:24:45] [SPEAKER_02]: On free form, which that's, yeah, we realized at the end of taping, we were like, well, this
[01:24:55] [SPEAKER_02]: was on free form, but it's basically about a criminal psychologist who, who forms a band
[01:25:04] [SPEAKER_02]: of, she gets a band of women together.
[01:25:08] [SPEAKER_02]: They all do different things.
[01:25:10] [SPEAKER_02]: And like, oh, it's a, uh, criminologist, the girl who wants to be a future detective, um,
[01:25:17] [SPEAKER_02]: a data analyst.
[01:25:18] [SPEAKER_02]: And they make this, they made this huge, um, data bank of missing and murdered people specifically
[01:25:25] [SPEAKER_02]: to, and this, this takes place in Canada specifically to see if there's serial killer patterns.
[01:25:30] [SPEAKER_02]: And it was very interesting.
[01:25:35] [SPEAKER_02]: It was very Scooby-Doo, um, style, true crime.
[01:25:40] [SPEAKER_02]: Um, please go listen to me and Sarah, uh, talk about it.
[01:25:44] [SPEAKER_02]: You can go to robhazwebsite.com slash crime feed in order to subscribe, uh, to the crime

[01:26:00] [SPEAKER_02]: SummerSlam, a premium live event this past Saturday.
[01:26:03] [SPEAKER_02]: We did it live.

[01:26:40] [SPEAKER_02]: That's two, like the number two where right now it's all big brother all the time.
[01:26:44] [SPEAKER_02]: Big brother, uh, 26 is in full swing.
[01:26:46] [SPEAKER_02]: So I'm talking about that a lot.
[01:26:49] [SPEAKER_02]: I was just on the round table this week for R J P talking about, uh, big brother.
[01:26:54] [SPEAKER_02]: So a lot, a lot of stuff going on, a lot of fun.
[01:26:57] [SPEAKER_02]: Just make sure you follow me on Twitter, uh, to know what I'm up to.

[01:27:29] [SPEAKER_01]: Um, and then, uh, next week Tyrone and I will be talking about Mr.
[01:27:34] [SPEAKER_01]: Throwback, the Steph Curry, uh, I guess it's kind of like a sitcom.
[01:27:38] [SPEAKER_01]: Um, I don't know.
[01:27:39] [SPEAKER_01]: Uh, it's a Steph Curry, uh, show that is coming on.
[01:27:42] [SPEAKER_01]: Uh, and it'll, it's supposed to be funny.
[01:27:44] [SPEAKER_01]: And so Tyrone will be back to talk about that with me.

[01:28:13] [SPEAKER_01]: As Mario and Asia both pointed out on this podcast, big brother 26 is happening.
[01:28:17] [SPEAKER_01]: And so weekly I talked to Rob Cicenino on our podcast called the slop behind the patron
[01:28:23] [SPEAKER_01]: paywall or RHAP, but you have to be a patron to hear it.
[01:28:26] [SPEAKER_01]: So you have to go to patreon.com slash RHAP and subscribe to get that sloppy coverage of,
[01:28:31] [SPEAKER_01]: uh, what's going on in the big brother house.
[01:28:33] [SPEAKER_01]: It's ridiculous.
[01:28:35] [SPEAKER_01]: And I'm having a time of my life talking about all the foolishness.
[01:28:37] [SPEAKER_01]: So check that out as well.
