Mari, is this the ghost of rap shit coming back and giving us something to talk about? Because we really did have, we were in with that show and then they just snatched it away from us.

[00:01:08] It really could be that. Like, rap shit and Snowfall having a baby is so us coded. Like, that's in such the vibe we're on. So like, that is exactly it. This music business and gangsta business, it's so good. Yeah. Yeah, this is so good. For all the people new here joining us, this is Recap Kickback where we talk about TVs, movies and whatever we want to talk about. We try to highlight the black stuff. And we have just started our watch of Snowfall.

Giving all these characters, all these actors their spotlight was great. And again, I'm remembering that this is actually showing on TV. You know what I'm saying? I actually do have cable. I'd be wondering why. And then the football season comes. I'm like, oh yeah, that's the reason.

[00:03:00] But like, it's like, it's so weird when you're so used to kind of just like streaming stuff a lot. And it's just, it's so good to just feel like you're sitting down with everybody else and watching TV. Yeah. Take us back. Take us back to those days where you got to be online at a certain time to tweet or, you know, the post about a show. Because I really did enjoy those days. Mari, we got a unreleased song from Nipsey Hussle as the theme song for The Drop.

[00:03:28] Really giving us that LA feel. I think it's called LA theme song. So there you go. Wow. That's, that's very touching. And I'm sure his estate loves how they're like using this. Yeah. That's solid. Yeah. I love this as well. I'm pretty sure it's the theme song. If not, yeah, because it's the official theme song at this point. So yeah, I've been reading about how people were talking about it.

That's Snowfall FX on Instagram. Because I think that's so cool. But yeah, Mari, big drama in this episode for sure. But we have to start where we left off with Lamar. Lamar. Lamar, Lamar, Lamar.

[00:04:21] I don't want to do this every episode, Mari. I don't want to do this. You're going to have to. But I'm going to have to because Lamar is getting on my damn nerves. So they, they escaped the blood listening party. And this man, it's like he doesn't know that he was in danger, Mari. He don't. He doesn't care. He was, he was vibing to his music. He was focused on the magic that was happening.

[00:04:43] He was not realizing what was going on around them that you definitely called last episode with the crowd kind of getting a little aggressive. That's not it. I mean, it's fine. They asked for it. I think that's what they're going for. Yeah. Mari, this man is inciting a war with this, that particular song.

[00:05:08] You know what I'm saying? So I'm just like, Hey man, maybe chill. And it looked like James is the only one who's really understanding the magnitude. Because like you said, Lamar and even Wanda are both so wrapped up in the moment. I feel Lamar because he does definitely, he feels like I resurrected artillery, right? The last time they had heard artillery was dead. Wanda said, Oh, he's alive. They get there. And this man who's battered and bruised, he's all, you know, cut up.

[00:05:33] We'll see later on that it's probably worse than he even knows. But he gets up and he starts rapping and it really brings life into the, to the room. And so, you know, I kind of understand what he's getting at. Yeah. He's, he's just excited. You know what I'm saying? He, he's watching his work be transformed by an artist. I, I, I, I want to say I don't blame him, but his, his life was in danger.

[00:06:00] So, you know, I think we're getting closer and closer to the talk about Lamar's potential autism. Not again, not being able to pick up on those social cues type thing, you know? Um, so yeah, I, I, he's excited. He's excited. He is, but he, but he also a nuisance. Uh, and throughout this episode, I'm gonna have a lot of complaints about Lamar.

[00:06:26] So y'all just sit right there. Yeah. Um, James is locked in. He's like, we could have died when he asked Lamar. Did he even see a, did you even check to see if there was a back door? Sir, there was no back door that was getting y'all out of that house alive. If they didn't want y'all out of that house alive, y'all were surrounded. It was a blood hive, you know, there was no way, no way. Yeah. It was deep. It was, it wasn't happening. And again, seeing that James is what, is he like one foot out of the,

[00:06:55] It seems like it. Yeah. Yeah. Something like that. So again, he's more conscious of like, okay, this song, cool. But like you said, this song is now going to make people, they're going to start sliding on each other and it's, it's not the best look. Yeah. Um, he, he's the only one who gets it, but like you said, he's kind of, you can tell that he's had his run-ins. Uh, he's had some time kind of in this, uh, in this world. And so he's, he's streetwise, but he's really got them to,

[00:07:24] he needs them to open up and to be more aware of their surroundings. And he's partly blaming Wanda, you know, the, the more like she's the adult, you know, I don't get me wrong. Um, Lamar is 19. So he's an adult too, but Wanda you've been around long enough. You supposed to help James keep him reeled in, but instead you're so hell bent on your music dreams that you're willing to put this kid in danger. You want to put your whole family in danger for this. I mean, we will see, uh, Lamar do something very fascinating when he brings his,

[00:07:53] uh, blood rapper homie, who's supposed to be dead to his granny house in the crib neighborhood. Yeah. Yeah. This was, it was so funny. Cause I was like, yes, they're laying the track down. This is cool. I was like, but isn't they, I was sitting there thinking like DG has an actual studio. Why didn't they go to the actual studio? And then I didn't realize until James walked in, I was like, Oh, this is not good. No.

[00:08:21] Cause it's just so pervasive, you know, in their community. And again, we've known that areas have been like that. That's that like, I don't, I don't know if it was, it's not a stereotype, but I listened to Issa Rae's, uh, memoir, right. It's one of the only, it's one of the only memoirs that I've like listened to in the recent years. And the only one that I really loved. And she talks about, you know,

[00:08:50] moving from, I believe it was Senegal, African country and moving to like LA, like Englewood and not being had to be explained. Don't wear this color in this neighborhood. Don't wear this color in this neighborhood. And so we, we, it's pervasive in culture. You know, I'm from the, I'm from the East coast. So, you know, take, take, take for what that, what you will. So it's like, it's just stuff you've heard about, you know what I'm saying?

[00:09:20] And it was so, it's so hard to get to the point where like, well, are y'all just being stereotypical? You know what I'm saying? But then it's like, no, you're transported back to time again, 91 early nineties where it literally was life or death. You had to know your streets. You had to know your colors. You know, you had no to know where to step and where not to step. And it's just,

[00:09:48] it's just so interesting that that is the, that's the, that's going to be the constant through line of this show. Yeah. A week ago, I want to say a week ago to the day, this was, is the, what is it? The anniversary. Has it been three years, four years, the four year anniversary of PNB rock getting killed in South Los Angeles at Roscoe's house of chicken and waffles,

[00:10:17] you know, robbed and killed. Um, his, his girlfriend was gave away his location. The people showed up, they demanded his jewelry and they shot him. And, you know, so this stuff isn't that far removed, you know, that was at a public establishment. And so, um, yeah, this, they're in danger for sure, but this is the world they live in. And so I don't blame James at all. We can go on and on about that. The aforementioned Nipsey hustle. Um, uh,

[00:10:47] what's his name on Memphis. Uh, Dolph. Dolph. Yeah. Young Dolph in Memphis. Like, yeah, it's, it's still, it's still happening. Yeah, for sure. Um, so, um, of course they're talking and James walks in and he shuts it down. Now I remember there was this one part where, I guess Lamar thought it would be wise to tell artillery not to drink in his home. Um, because his grandma would find out. And I just thought, well, you know,

[00:11:17] Lamar, there's probably other things that your grandma might be mad about if she walked in, like the blood sitting on the floor, um, the rapping that's happening right now, the gangster rap that, you know, she forbids you from participating in, but you worried about him taking a little swig. Lamar, I'm sorry. This is, you know? Yeah, I guess so. Uh, he said she's uncanny. And, um, artillery picked up that that was a reference. To the X-Men. He said, oh yeah, you a sweater wearing comic book dude. And I was like,

[00:11:46] artillery for you to pick that up. Doesn't that make you? Yeah, I know. You understood it. Yeah. Yeah. He's an interesting character. I think they kind of show us that he has layers. Yeah. Yeah. For sure. He's a lot more than, I guess, what meets the eye at first glance. Yeah. And I know we'll, we'll probably talk about it later, but so we know that, um, Franklin was like, kind of like an avatar for freeway, Ricky Ross.

[00:12:15] I'm wondering, like you said last week, are any of these people avatars now? Like for real, I'm starting to wanting to look into that. Yeah. So I don't know if any of our main cast is, but I am keeping an eye on some of the new players that are popping in. Right. And we'll have a few of those to talk about, uh, in this recap for sure. Yeah. Yeah. On the same page, uh, with that. Um, let's talk about DG a little bit. So, uh, he is slinging drugs. You know,

[00:12:45] we talked about this with Wanda, the music game and the drug game are going, they are sisters. Okay. And, um, it's just, it's going to be hard for her to escape this, especially when we find out that DG her, you know, the person she's interning with, uh, for black banner records, he is, um, you know, clearly in it, but he says the stacks are getting light. Um, his lawyer Vince steps in. And of course, anytime there's a drug dealer,

[00:13:13] there's a white guy behind him pulling the strings. And so Vince pops up and says, Hey, you know, um, we could take that off your hands. I got a guy. I know a person who could really help you with your whole situation. Mari. Is there any world where we see any by the, past, uh, like government people that we saw in snowfall pop up in this season? I hope not. What happened? Um, like it's Teddy dead. Right. That's all I say. What happened to Teddy?

[00:13:43] Did Teddy die? Oh, please don't bring Teddy back. Please say Teddy dead. Lord, take him away. Take him away. Um, no. Oh God. It'll just be another, you know, another, uh, a new shadowy figure, um, to look out for. I'm sure. Yeah. When he said that, I thought, Oh God, not again, not again. Uh, but DG kind of shuts it down. He's like, Oh, okay. Now, you know,

[00:14:13] he kind of talks himself out of it. Um, Vince was wearing a bulletproof vest. I think this also reminds me of the wire. You know how, um, Avon Barksdale's crew, they, they had their lawyer and he was in on it. He knew everything that was going on. You know, he was also benefiting. This is giving me that same exact feel. Yeah. Except for Vince kind of be like, yeah, don't do this in front of me though. Like he, yeah, he's like halfway in, halfway out type of thing. He's like, yeah, I'll build.

[00:14:41] I'll help you do the dirt more efficiently. Right. We can outsource. Yeah. yeah. Cause there's a moment where I I'm pretty sure if it wasn't for Vince standing there, Wanda would not be with us anymore, or at least would be, uh, you know, yeah. And different pieces maybe. Yeah, exactly. Um, so Wanda does walk in, in this moment and she tells DG all about the blood listening party. Uh, and you can see Vince kind of scoffing in the corner.

[00:15:11] Mari. I know throughout this season, I know you're going to get on me about this, but I just feel like when Wanda tells stories like this, knowing her background, it makes you take pause because she's talking about how, yeah. And then, uh, we, we walk into the blood house and then we started playing music. They gathered around us, but then he comes out and then all the blood start chanting together. And then they all raise their hands. And then we like, and then we got out of there. It's like, it sounds like a, like a crackhead story.

[00:15:42] I, I like, when will anybody let this go, man? Let it go. It's hard. Wanda is making money moves. She's a new person. Let it go. Let her be. Tell that. Tell that to 12 year old, uh, Lamar when she was stealing his toys and selling them for crack. Y'all. So y'all just not going to get over this crack thing.

[00:16:14] She saw money falling from the sky, Mari money falling from the sky. I was like, they might have a point. They might have a point. Oh my God. Horrible. This horrible. So the goal here is of course, to get DG on board with this artillery thing. We know last time they had an interaction, artillery was not filling in. DG's kind of like, so you want me to go crawling back to this guy after the way he called me a vulture.

[00:16:45] She's kind of like, yeah, I mean, it'll be cool. You know? Um, so I really, um, I really like the character that they're developing for Wanda because you see that again, I think her superpower is really, and he, I think DG even mentioned it, like the mouthpiece, right? She can sell salt to a slug and, you know, I don't know if there was seeds of that in snowfall originally, but she's developed the skills to be able to talk herself in any room and, um,

[00:17:14] and even get people to do stuff against their better judgment because, uh, it starts with DG, but I'm really wondering to see how far Wanda is going to be able to negotiate and talk her way up this ladder. Right. She, again, so you say crackhead. I say person who can get out of tight spaces. You say life experience. Put it on your resume. When you're constantly putting yourself into dangerous positions,

[00:17:42] you need to kind of be able to read the room, read the situation and be able to try again and talk your way out of it. So I think that's the experience that Wanda has learned from her past. And she was trying to use it to help DG, but unfortunately he's not as charismatic as she is. No, he could never. It is. It's really bad watching DG move throughout this episode, but I can tell he's going to, I don't know if he's a long-term villain, Mari,

[00:18:12] but, uh, he going to shake, shake the table before he go. If he does, he, he gives such like little dick energy. Like it's such like, it really is. Was it the pink panties? Oh my God. He did have pink panties on, didn't he? It's like the, it's the, the perm and the swoop and all of the freeze. Oh my God. He really does. It's the nineties, but he really does have that like salt and pepper.

[00:18:45] Yeah. He got him in vogue freeze. Yeah. Like, like he needs the money and the show, you know, that he's a big guy. Mm hmm. Um, not to jump around too much, but I didn't really focus on James and artillery, uh, in that moment, you know, our James comes in. Oh yeah. Yeah. In the room. Yeah. And, uh, he is immediately like, you gotta leave or I'm gonna kick your ass. Uh, because again, you can't be bringing this gangster stuff into my, my people house.

[00:19:15] Uh, you know, um, this is mama G's house, big daddy's house. And it's bad enough. Y'all in here with alcohol, you in here with doing the rap music thing, but you got, you got a thug in here. And also he, he a blood on this side of town. People might think we affiliated with them and that's going to be bad news. Yeah, exactly. It, this is, this is how, where we learn like how dangerous it is. And the street demarcations.

[00:19:45] Um, so yeah. And I was like, James, calm down, be easy. He's still hurt. I was like, do not touch him. Did you see all those people in that house? Like, And, and yeah, well, I guess we'll talk about it later, but yeah, this was how you knew, uh, the differences between the gangs and stuff. What do you think about the infection? Oh, yeah.

[00:20:16] Black, black, black men will do it. Everything, but go to the doctor. La la la la. Oh my God. He, he going to be a big bad gangster and going to die of sepsis. Cause he can't, cause he can't sit down and wash a wound. It did feel like foreshadowing. It did. You know, why would you just like, Oh yeah, that looks infected. Oh yeah. Don't worry about that. No, let's, let's talk about that. You know, he was in the hospital and got out and I'm assuming,

[00:20:44] they left before he could get any real medication or has just, hasn't been applying it. But I'm concerned that that infection might be something that we have to worry about later on. He, I was about to say, did he go to the hospital? Cause did they just say immediately that he was dead? And they try to like, cover that up. Did he go to the hospital? Yeah. Well, we see Wanda outside the emergency room when she calls Lamar and tells him that he's alive. So I'm assuming that she went to the emergency room, you know, and that's where she got the information. gotcha. Yeah. But again,

[00:21:13] it don't really matter if you're just going to get an infection and die. For real. Yeah. I don't really know what's going on with that. So I really, I put a, I put a pin in that one. I was like, I feel like we don't have to, that'll come back up in conversation. Yeah. Yeah. So Wanda and DG do make a move. They end up going to kick it with Jenny. And this is where we'll see Wanda's first, you know, kind of interaction with the hard drugs. And I think they handled it well,

[00:21:43] but again, it feels like more foreshadowing Mari. Yeah, it definitely did. I was like, Ooh, this set up, Ooh, this set up. Oh God. It's just proving Leon right about like putting herself in this situation. Where she's going to be around drugs again. Do you think you'd be like, Oh, is this black people think? What does that mean? Jenny? What do you mean by that? Jenny? What do you mean by that? Like, she says, so black people don't do coke. Y'all don't party. I was like, um, you know, honestly,

[00:22:13] Mari in my older age, like right in my early twenties, we used, I was definitely one of the black people who was looking at white folks crazy when they started doing the coke. I said, Oh, what? Yeah. What? Yeah. Like, I definitely was like, there must be white people shit, you know, cause I didn't know nobody. So when she said it, I was like, I don't, you know, which is kind of funny. This whole series is based on the crack epidemic. Right. Right. But yeah, we, yeah.

[00:22:43] So, um, we get a little history lesson from Jenny about how we got here. Um, how her, um, like rock and roll was really prevalent in her life and how her home growing up was this hub for rock and roll. It's what really helped her build her family, build a macroscope records. And Wanda says, this is something that she wants to do. Now, obviously Jenny's like rap music is not going to give you that, but you can tell Wanda, once she sets her mind or something, it's really hard for her to give up on those things.

[00:23:13] And it helps because it looks like Jenny might be one of the, I don't know. I don't know if she believes in Wanda or if there's something a little bit more underlying going on, but she's always kind of taking Wanda side since episode one. I think she believes in her. I think she, her being a woman, um, in this, of course, male dominated field who has her current position due to her dad. She said, she says it, she's like, Oh, what's my,

[00:23:41] cause this is my contract is up. I'll probably get kicked out. She just knows how hard it is for women. And especially she knows how hard it's about to be for Wanda. So I think she's just trying to help her out while she, while she can, I don't think there's anything nefarious to it, which is, you know, surprising, but I, I really think right. And as of right now, it's just like, she's like, you're plucky. I like you. Yeah. I like your moxie.

[00:24:12] I'm weary of this woman. I don't know. Every time I see her, I'm like, I don't trust it. Now she doing coke in front of Wanda. Obviously she probably doesn't know about Wanda's past, but it's still making me kind of look at her crazy. Um, and, um, Wanda talking about how, um, she caught on that. It looks like Jenny's time is almost up. You know, um, they're going to be replacing her with somebody else to be like, Oh, look, we got a new field, new leadership and really revamp it. And I remember, uh, when they talked about how this show was going to be released and what it

[00:24:42] was going to be about. I always thought it was going to be about Wanda and Lee having a record label. And I think, Mara, if that's the case, I think Jenny might be somebody who they might be able to go in partnership later on. Oh, that would be great. Yeah. Yeah. Um, I see that. That was the thing. I, I didn't know if it was going to end up with her being more of a fixture or less of a fixture. I was wondering if she's just going to be like, um, like after that merge happens,

[00:25:11] she might not be a character anymore. Yeah. I, I don't know. I think it's something about the way they framed her conversation about her dad. Um, where it's like, she needs a new middleman, right? The dad was getting pushed out in the middle. And so now she's in that, in that spot. And so, you know, she needs a plug. She needs somebody to lock her in to the music and who better than Wanda, you know, Wanda says, I got it. I'm the plug. So I don't know. Like I said, I just feel like they're giving her a lot of screen time and I'm

[00:25:40] trying to figure out what she's going to amount to. And I can't tell if it's friend or foe. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, and then I was thinking that too. I was like, how well did they read those thick ass contracts? You know, they didn't. And so Jenny does talk. Um, 60s all around. Right. Wait till, wait till that happens. but, um, Jenny does, uh, help Wanda talk DG into giving her a position as, uh,

[00:26:08] A and R and DG does not want to do this. This is a greedy mofo. He's like, yeah. He's like, no, I'm not giving her any money. Um, but, um, eventually he folds and now Wanda's got a new role. She did it. She told everybody that she was going to do this and she did it. Yeah. And that's what I mean about DG. Like, uh, it's just bitch like behavior. Like, why are you, why are you so hesitant? It's like the whole,

[00:26:36] he doesn't want her to outshine him type of thing. Like, but you clearly, again, in our artist relations, that that's more Wanda speed. Um, so he, yeah, he reluctantly gives her that title and she's just so happy. She's an ear to ear. I like so happy for Wanda, but he smiles like Gilby. I know. Right. Oh, beautiful. But I will say when, even before everything happened,

[00:27:03] when she sent him to get the contract done, I was like, are we sure? Right. Like, I really was like, uh, yeah, this was a great episode for the DG haters out there. So, uh, we got, we're gonna have a good time after a while. Yeah. Mari raising her hand. It's like, if there's a hater in the room, it's me. If there are no haters, I am not in the room. Yeah. Exactly. So, um,

[00:27:32] Wanda tells Lamar and now, uh, Lamar has to tell, uh, you know, um, what is G mama? What's that called? Mama G. Yeah. Mama G. It's Mama G and Big Daddy. I was gonna call her Big Mama. Yeah. So he has to tell Mama G, uh, cause James basically said, all right, you bad, you grown, you'll be the one to tell him and tell him I ain't got nothing to do with this. You know? Uh, and I think that means a lot to James because, you know, with him being like the problem child,

[00:28:01] if anything happens to Lamar, they're going to look at him and say, you're a bad influence. Right. Uh, now clearly Wanda is stepping into that role as a potential bad influence. Um, but Lamar is of course not picking up on this. He goes to, um, Mama G and he's telling her, he's so excited, like, Oh, I'm finally going to do this and I'm going to make it and this, that other. And she's just giving him that just black mama cold shoulder. Mm. Like, I'm not hearing nothing. You talking about a little boy, you could,

[00:28:29] you could tell she was not for it at all. Uh, and this is where she brings up that anecdote about not trusting Wanda because she stole all his Christmas presents when he was 12. And I, again, I get it, but he has hardcore paper in his hand. Like just read it. You know, it's, it's what he wants to do. And, and he was right. Why buy me all that equipment? If you're not going to let me do nothing with it for the church, for the church,

[00:28:58] you're supposed to be using that equipment to serve the Lord. Little boy. God, Lamar. I'm sorry. You could have been, you could have been, he talked about, I would have, I wanted to be the next Quincy Jones. You could have been the next Kirk Franklin. You know what I'm saying? You don't know. Get in the booth. Start GP. GP. Are you with me? So Wanda also has a contract and she is smart enough to at least try to go get legal assistance from Leon. And so when we see Leon,

[00:29:28] he's at his legal clinic and I really enjoyed this side of Leon. I really enjoy the growth that he had from snowfall to this moment. Mari, is he using his snowfall money to run this clinic? That's what it seems like. Right. The, it's like donations and whatever money he, he made off of snowfall to provide what he's like providing a free legal counsel. I'm assuming for. Right. Yeah. Legal counsel.

[00:29:57] And he's providing legal defense for appeals. I think he's helping, uh, like, um, yes. Cause, because the man he's talking to tells him, you know, you're going to go broke doing this. Uh, this is a really, really tough time for crime in America when it comes to black folks. So on the one hand, the gangsters are doing gangster stuff. That is, that is definitely undeniable. But at the same time, this is the nineties. Okay. We're talking about the bill Clinton crime bill. We're talking about, uh, three strikes, super predators. Minimums.

[00:30:27] Exactly. So you can imagine, first of all, the way it looks to the public, right? Because like you said, they're calling, they're calling super predators on TV. Uh, and so of course the black people at home, they don't want to be, you know, attached, attached to the super predators. Right. Um, because they're not, you know, it's not like all these gangs are just skipping over the black folks. This is infighting as well. Uh, and so they don't want to be involved in that. And so when you tell the church, Hey, we need donations for the legal clinic.

[00:30:54] They like you defending people who are involved in drive-bys and robberies and things like that. They don't want any part of this. Because there's another scene where we get with him. And I, anytime a character starts getting a lot of scenes, I started to kind of, you know, start peeping it. Like, what are we using this character for? Right? So he's already kind of, um, expressed some jealousy with artillery in this scene.

[00:37:42] But then when they're at the diner at the end, he's telling the story about how, um, 20 years ago. Yeah. It's the same guy. He's telling a story about how, um, he finally ran up on this guy from, uh, that he knew 20 years ago. And my first thought was you don't even look that old, but okay. Uh, and he said he was fresh out of jail. He ran up on a guy. He, he basically started beating them up and then he robbed him. And he told him, I remember 20 years ago when I was six years old. I said,

[00:38:12] Oh, hell nah. Hell nah. If you keep a grudge like that for 20 years. Yeah. I feel like he's one to watch. He's real crazy. Yeah. Ooh, good, good, good. Yeah. I will flag that up. And this is, this is the character I was like, I wonder if she's based off of somebody. Ooh. Okay. Yeah. Because like a famous woman, um, like blood drug dealer, I mean, like gang member. Yeah. Yeah.

[00:40:13] Cause she really did pull up and everybody was just listening to her. And, and when they were at the blood house, I, you know, it wasn't really clear what her, her role was there, but here it was very clear. She was the one holding the strings. She starts demanding money, you know, to get artillery to sign, which apparently is, it was common back then. You mean extortion? Extortion. Yeah. Embedded.

[00:40:43] Embedded. So, yeah. So she, she pulls up and, and, but again, DG, I, I also know, cause he was, did he have this kind of attitude? Like when he first met artillery, he kind of did. I was like, trying to figure out if it was like the misogyny was jumping out, but I don't, I just think he's a jackass. So like, she said 20,000.

[00:41:12] He said 20,000. Okay. Like, he just like, but he doesn't even say it in a way that he says it in such a condescending way. Yeah. That has to be like, well, then make it 30,000. Right. He said, Oh, that's all he worth to you. Okay. Well, she had 50, you know, are you reverse negotiating here? Dummy. He realized this is a shakedown far too late. You know, he's like, Oh, okay.

I think he might've had a homeboy there or something like that, but he wasn't there when he was saying, getting that ass beat. Where were you at when they started jumping me? How about that? Like if Lamar is not grounded, that's your job as the person with the hood kind of, uh, like cache, you know, you got, you know, your, your way around, you know,

[00:49:03] He just called her a bunch of stuff. And Wanda ran her ass. She heard the threats on the phone. And then ran her ass into the studio. I was like, what? My only thought was where is Leon? I know you didn't leave the gangster at home. Thank God he showed up because she almost lost the limb. Did he show up or did she, I think come with him and just left him outside? Wow. I don't. Yeah.

[00:49:32] It does feel like maybe she left him outside because you know, she's always like, I want to handle this. I don't want you to be there. I don't want to, I don't want to do, you know, I don't want you to have to fight all my battles, but had it not been for Vince running interference, it might've been too late. It's like, he thinks she set him up.

But again, her background, he's like, you know, she could have been sold off. He didn't raise his voice. He didn't. He, he literally same total voice as the last you said. And he's like, I will kill you behind her. And then kept going. Like, I was like, exactly. After he, he's saying he will not, he, he, he's not about that life anymore. Da, da, da, da, da, da.

[00:52:59] I will kill you behind her. Which may, which means he's very serious about that because he forward said, I, I'm not trying to get back into the life comma, but I will kill you. Yeah. The, the problem here is that DG is a crash out. He is a crash dummy. Okay. He has no business having his money. He has no business having his money. Cause he's about to blow it. Cause he basically tells Leon like, look, I hear you, but Wanda, the only reason she's still alive is because I believe her. The only reason I'm not going to touch her because of that. So you have to kill me,

And so, um, Wanda and Leon are now tasked with going and getting that deal back, but also kind of squaring things away with the blood. Cause it's, it's real life beef now. Uh, right. It'd be crazy for DG to just let this go, even though it makes sense. But just from like, uh, just, uh, it's just a regular human standpoint. You really going to go work and do business with the, the people who stomped you out. That probably is not going to last long. Yeah. It, Oh my God.

[00:53:59] It's such a bad situation for everybody. And, uh, I like when they're, they're going up in the blood. And we talked about how, uh, the one blood Davis whole story and stuff like that. And they're in this diner area. And there seems like there was some more OGs there that were like, keep it cute here. You under my protection type thing. And he asked Dara, like, well, why'd you do it? Why'd you like, we get extortion, but like, why'd you humiliate him? She was like,

You know, this is the life that they chose and they're going to make moves that don't make logical sense, but they don't have to, because again, this is, they're going to be fueled by a lot of trauma and a lot of emotions and things that are going on around them. Um, so it's really a powder keg. Anytime you have too many of these people all in the same room. Now on the way to the diner, uh, Leon and Wanda are talking and he's kind of like letting her know, like, this is,

[00:55:25] this is different Wanda. This is not business. This is gangster shit. You, you got to play this a certain way when they come in the room. You're right. The OGs are at the door, but you'll notice. Cause I think Dara said, these were her, these were her uncles. Um, you'll notice Leon walks in. He knows one of the OGs. They immediately like shake his hand, you know, and then he goes in and that's where he does his whole speech about, um, the title of the episode, the street matrix. Um, which one do you want? Do you want the money or do you want war? You know, which one, cause you can't have both.

[00:55:56] Um, you're trying to get this business. He brought the money. He brought the contract. He's like, listen, we'll give you the 30 K. Um, I wonder if that came out of Leon's pocket. Probably. Um, maybe, maybe, but I don't think it should. DG didn't bat an eyelash when he said 30, when she said 30,000. So it better have been his money. Yeah, for sure. But you know, uh, if it was for Wanda, you know, Leon gonna come up off that money. So who knows?

[00:56:26] And he took it back. She gave it back. Yeah. What they kind of come to an agreement. Yeah. They have a truce. Uh, and she basically says like, put it on your name. And he does. He said, I put everything on my, my name, my reputation. That's who I am. And so they're able to get out of there. But Maury, as they're walking out, Leon is, um, signaling to the troops as well. He whistles to the dude across the street. A guy gets out of his car with a big ass gun. And I'm like, Oh, Leon brought backup.

[00:56:56] He's Leon's back in the game. Maury. This is Wanda's fault. But you know, this also made me think and stop and realize, uh, cause I was watching with James. James was like, that was the backup plan. I was like, I thank you. I like, I understood that. Uh, I just, at first I was like, was that the Ford? But it looked like for a second, it was about to be the Ford plan. Cause I was like, why should you get all this stuff back? But, um, it made me think of in like snowfall,

[00:57:24] did they harp on Leon's affiliation? Really? Like, right. Right. I was like, I don't remember us being told that he was like a blood or a crip. I don't remember him having the exact language of like cause blood for us to like, keep it straight. I was like, I wonder if they like, you know, for snowfall, they just kind of kept it, you know, analogous or whatever. I don't know. And then for this one, it's like, they have to,

[00:57:53] they have to lay out the sides for this story. So it was very interesting for me. I was like, well, where does Leon fit into that? Yeah. I just did a quick Google search to see what people online have been saying about it in the past. And, um, yeah, like there's basically heavily, it's heavily debated, right? Like they'd never make a, uh, actual decision about it, but it looks like in snowfall, they are making the decision. Now. Um, these people hopped out with the drop. Yeah. I'm sorry. The drop, uh, colon, a snowfall saga.

[00:58:24] I, I love this episode so far. Um, just talking, talking it through with you. It's so good. That they're setting up all this stuff because it does look like Leon, who was just at his legal clinic, which is failing by the way, he's going to need something else to do with his time and helping Wanda, you know, even negotiating these tactics. Like you said, bodyguard wouldn't hurt either. Cause Leon. Yeah. Leon got connections too. Um, I could definitely see Leon being dragged into the music game very quickly. Yeah. I mean, that's what it's all coming to.

I was like, it's the music business and gangster business and none, neither the train shall meet, but it's like, no, like you said, they're one in that. They're one in the same. They're sisters. If things pop off, it could have been a gunfight in that diner in broad daylight and neutral territory. Uh, and so, uh, he's definitely looking at Wanda. Like I support you. He said, I love you, but this ain't it. And Wanda, you got some nerve. Dara said, Oh, you doing all this for your little boyfriend. She's like, that's my ex boyfriend. Wanda, you're going to play him while he doing this. You couldn't wait. You couldn't,

[00:59:54] you can tell her that later on. Why you have to clown him at the table? But you ain't, you ain't believe her when she said it. She just, she just, he didn't flick. Yeah. He was like, girl, whatever. She's a traffic boy. She, she, she like, she, she tried, or she, I think she was trying to prove a point. Like, this is what he'll do for me when we're not even together. Right. So imagine if we was together, you know, I got it. Leon did bring up something. He says,

And then they'll stab you in the back. And for what? 10,000, 20,000, $30,000. It won't even take that much for them to do it. Mari. He is so right. He is so right. These people can be bought.

[01:00:51] And we saw that in Snowfall and we will see it here. I'm assuming Dara definitely needs to watch her back. If she got somebody like DG behind the, you know, behind the scenes, preying on her downfall. Yeah. And that's the final scene that we see because clearly DG is in the studio with Vance and Vance brings in, are we supposed to know him? I don't, I don't know if they ever said his name, but he's, I don't know. I didn't catch it though.
