[00:00:19] Hey, what's up fam and welcome back again to Recap Kickback presents The Drop A Snowfall Saga Season 1 Episode 7 Recap. That's right. It's me, your host Chappell back again to talk to you about another episode of the Snowfall Saga. And this one was a doozy. So with me to talk about that and much, much more, it is Mari Forth. Mari, welcome back. We're back. Penultimate episode, I believe. Penultimate episode. Yeah, yeah.
[00:00:44] Yeah, prepare for that finale. Interesting. Yeah, interesting. Another interesting episode. It felt like a setup to the finale, if that makes sense. You know what I'm saying? Like, I don't necessarily know if everything, like if anything really moved the needle until like the last like 10 minutes. But I'm glad we're, like, I'm glad we're here. I'm glad we're covering this. Have we heard anything about maybe a possible season two or anything like that yet?
[00:01:14] I mean, I'm looking it up right now. I mean, I'm looking it up right now and I don't see anything currently. I'm going to keep my eye out for it. I don't know if they're trying to see if they stick the landing for the finale or. Right. I mean, because this is an FX show, right? FX slash Hulu. They can't have that much other stuff going on. Sorry. It's just not the case. I mean, like, let's talk about a little bit. How is Hulu's true crime scene?
[00:01:37] I was about to say, well, Hulu, we were just ranking this on a crime scene literally yesterday. It goes HBO and Netflix. They're like the top tier of true crime documentaries. Then it's Hulu, just because I refuse to pay for their annoying ass ads. Then it's Peacock. Then it's Paramount. Peacock and Paramount have some very horrendous documentaries on them.
[00:02:04] So Hulu is just like, Hulu be having a lot of true crime. But honestly, when it comes to their scripted shows, you know who runs the show over there. It's Mr. Murphy. So I don't understand. They could throw us another season or two if they wanted to. Yeah, to me, they ain't got nothing else going on. The joy of Hulu is that you can watch basically other stuff that's not on, you know, that's like coming from TV on Hulu.
[00:02:31] But Hulu originals? No. And so FX, you got space. I think for me, like even the Hulu reality TV shows, they suck. You know, I think the mob is dropping soon. It's going to suck. I like got to get out. That was my jam. You'll never see it again. It's not coming back for season two. I'm just saying they got space. That's all I'm trying to say. Attractive will be on season three.
[00:02:56] That's technically Fox. You know, technically Fox. So that kind of counts. But yeah, I'm just saying they got space. They got room to bring back this show. What else are you really doing? And so I would love to see this get renewed in the next couple of days because I think they've laid the foundation for some good storyline. And I do think for me, walking away from the penultimate episode, I am really excited for the finale. I agree. I agree. It feels like a lot of stuff is coming to a head.
[00:03:26] So, yeah, I'm looking forward to it. Yes. And you know what else I'm looking forward to, Mari? The holiday season, because if you were looking for a gift, what better gift can you get to one of these lovely cups by my co-host Mari? This is actually a team green cup for all of my House of the Dragon fans. Yes. Team Agon, team green. Sure. Yeah. Or whatever.
[00:03:52] But you can get whatever you want on Mari's Bit Cartel website. Mari Crafts Too Much. Yes. You can go to mariacraftstomuch.bigcartel.com in order to get some of these cups. I mean, it is a thank you to all of the orders that I've been getting. Yeah. It's Christmas season. It's holiday season. I already have some big orders coming in. So if you want your Tumblr to arrive before Christmas,
[00:04:18] make sure you get your order in before December 1st to guarantee Christmas shipping. And yeah, Recap Kickback listeners use the code RECAP for 10% off. I have everything. I'm currently in the middle of making a whole bunch of football-themed cups, both professional and collegiate. Basketball just started, so I'm tinkering with my basketball cups. And of course, custom cups. I can put anything on a cup.
[00:04:47] I like book-related cups. We like family cups, pets cups, any and everything. So if you're looking for something new, different, and exciting for a loved one or for yourself, go grab one of my cups, my Tumblrs. Absolutely. I am definitely going to put it in order soon because Christmas is upon us and I got a few people that I have in mind and it'll be very easy to shop for them because I know what kind of sports they like and I know what teams they like.
[00:05:15] And like Mari said, she can customize just about anything on the cup. So I'm going to send in my order and see what Mari has in store for us. Also, we got some comments about the last episode and, of course, future episodes as well. So big shout-out to QJax9068 and AngelaHelper600. They both commented on our YouTube page. QJax says, Lamar is so unlikable.
[00:05:44] So I need his art to happen this season. Me and Mari both made the bad and bougie reference at the same time last episode. Um, Mari. Lamar. Lamar is probably the worst main-ish character I've seen on a TV show in a while. And we'll have a lot to talk about in this episode for sure. But I have to keep reminding myself. This is the main thing.
[00:06:15] Don't piss me off, Lamar. Like, Yeah, don't piss me off. My God. My God. I know you fucking lying. I know you fucking lie. Yeah. All he does is piss me off. That's it. Every day. And you know what? I try to, I have to remind myself. This is not the Lamar show. This is the Gail Bina signs. Okay. This is about Wanda. This is about Wanda. And so, one day we will have to defuse this bomb that is Lamar. But I think that is a very good observation. Also, Angela Helper 600 says, Hi guys.
[00:06:43] I bet DG is in the same dirty deal as Cash Money Young Money. And that would make a lot of sense. Man, yeah. I forgot about that. Because that, that ended very, pretty much amicably, you know, a little way. And Birdman kind of squashed that. They sued. They went to court, I believe. But at least they didn't. Right? They went to court. They ain't fought. But I, yeah. They ended up being a $51 million lawsuit,
[00:07:13] if I remember correctly. Right, right, right. Yeah. Because, yeah, they ain't fight. So at least, you know. They were still family. After you kissed this man on the mouth so many times, I guess it's hard to just really sever ties like that. But yeah, for those who are not familiar, Lil Wayne does sign to Cash Money. And then Young Money later on is officially launched. Lil Wayne owns 49% of Young Money. Birdman and Cash Money own the other 51%. All copyrights, fees, profits, et cetera,
[00:07:43] will be split between them. But Lil Wayne is not able to sign Artists to Young Money without Cash Money's approval. And so from there, it starts to go downhill. We get a couple renegotiations, some advances, and then some holding of funds, some albums that got shelved, and a lot of mess. And I can definitely see that with DG kind of just being a subsidiary of Macroscope. Yeah. Yeah. Black Banner Records, right? Or Black, yeah.
[00:08:12] Yeah. We, and we really saw it in this episode too. So yeah, we are learning so much about the music business. Look at us. Look at that. Look at us. I'm really enjoying this. You know, this is my bad. I'm like, I love it here. I love it here. So yeah. So thank y'all for the comments. That said, Mari, this episode had a lot going on because we really had to deal with it. With the aftermath of the death of Keith and the death of Keith is going to be a really big deal for a character. We barely even knew because he's very close to a lot of people and including the bloods where he's, you know,
[00:09:11] very ingrained in that community. So they're sad. They're, they're hurt. And the news is actually trying to make it seem like, okay, this keeps death have anything to do with artillery's lyrics. Now, obviously this was shine a light on artillery in a negative light. But we'll find out in this episode that, uh, any publicity is good publicity, even negative publicity, which has really got the artillery stock at an all time high. Yeah. Which is just kind of funny since artillery hates this kind of publicity.
[00:09:40] We talked about it. Artillery has been that artistic blood doesn't really bang. Um, kind of like hood, mastodomus type thing. He's been like that. That's been his perception, um, the whole season. And so the fact that his, one of his friends dying, then propels him like up the chart, uh, propels him like in the, the music business.
[00:10:09] I know he, he literally hates it. He, he says it several times in this episode. He hates it. It reminds me of, uh, when we covered rap shit and, um, that one dude accidentally set his cell phone on fire and fell off a balcony or something like that. and his, his crusty friends was, was using it to, to, you know, make their stock go up. Sadly, this,
[00:10:38] that is how the music business is. This is, this is how rap is. This is how, I mean, this is really how any type of genre is, you know, as soon as, uh, somebody passes away, you know, post-hummusly, they like, whatever. Once they die, they, posthumous, posthumous. Well, there you go. I was like, it's the hummus, the dip. Anyway, uh, like immediately all of their albums,
[00:11:06] like return to like the top 10 streaming and all of that, you know, because people want to like reminisce and like, oh, it reminds me Biggie's born to die. Right. It was like one of the best selling albums at the time. Once he passed away. So this, this isn't anything new. Um, so the news being like, yeah, it must be a drug deal gone wrong, reporting it without any facts, tying artillery's name to it. Um, tying it to a gang war,
[00:11:35] like the bloods in the crypts. When we know that it was DG and Dion who did it, who were, um, trying to make it look like the gang war, all of this, I was like, yeah, this, this literally all tracks. Yeah, for sure. You know, yeah. Biggie does drop to us that ready to die. Right. And then after that, he, yeah, but that was where he was alive. After that, he dropped two albums, you know, life after death. And then what is it? Born again. Uh, and so, um, yeah. Um,
[00:12:07] the man's don't die. He said it in the songs and it happens. Yeah, definitely. Look, he got some albums that dropped after he died too. Uh, so it's like, it's kind of a thing, right? You can really make money off of people after they, after they're gone and tragedy brings a lot of attention. And so, um, we will see that though, the ripple effect of Keith's death is going to just kind of affect all of these characters in different ways, starting with, Oh, sorry, before you go, but, but also not even post-tumnishly,
[00:12:36] like we see it in this episode, DG is talking about using vocal vocals that artillery, artillery, artillery does not like to put on his album that like, at this point, both him and Lamar are kind of refusing to finish. You know what I'm saying? So it's like all those out, all those, a lot of artists have those like locked up vaults, vocals that they're just kind of just playing with stuff, stuff that will never see the light of day. What did tiptoe call it in this,
[00:13:06] uh, the, uh, a scrap, uh, the scratch, the scratch track. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So we, we see that all the time and it's all, all for profit. Yeah. And, and it's tough because like you said, um, they don't own anything. Right. So like the moment artillery and Lamar started signing their lives away is for DG to do whatever he wants with this stuff. And sadly it was Lamar's idea to use artillery tracks behind his back. You know, he's like, Oh yeah, I could just put these tracks on top of these on like, even,
[00:13:36] even the people within artillery's camp are trying to kind of get over using his, um, his abilities by the end of this episode, he's going to tell people, stop trying to use me to get out the hood. Stop it. I'm trying to, I'm trying to worry about myself. I don't need everybody trying to backpack their way out of here. Well, you know, with me. Um, so yeah, there's a lot going on now. Uh, the first, we first, the first person we kind of see affected by this, of course is Dara. She does get that nine one one page from artillery as she's laid up with, uh, Leon and throughout,
[00:14:05] we're going to see her really talking to him about, you know, what are we going to do now? Right. We, we, he took a hit. So it's time to retaliate. She goes to artillery and says, let's, let's get out there, put something on paper, but you put it on the hood. Let people know that we coming. Uh, same thing with Leon. She goes to Leon and says, Hey, this is, this is going to happen. Like we got to retaliate. Leon tries to stop her, but she's not going to listen. She says, this is my best friend. Uh, what would you do if it was your best friend?
[00:14:32] And then Leon reminds us all that he's been in a situation similar to this. And he did everything that she thinks she's going to do. And probably more. Yeah. This, this episode, I really like, I was like, man, I wish six, six seasons is a lot to binge. But I was really trying to remember, cause I wonder, cause remember when, when Dara's, when Dara's talking to artillery and artillery is like, it's Keith is dead. Then we slide on, on the,
[00:15:02] the cribs. They, they die. Then they come back to us and it's just a, a murder cycle. And, uh, and Dara, and Dara is like, didn't she name, didn't she name Tanisha? Like 12 year old Tanisha. Was that not the, the baby that Leon accidentally killed or no? Wow. So when she said that, I thought it might be a callback, but I didn't know for sure. And so I didn't know. It sounded so familiar. I was like this, I, it was the two murders that she, she named her. She said the twins. I was like,
[00:15:31] this sounds very familiar. And I could not, I could not remember if it was, but like, yeah, I said, I said all that to say, it's just like, it is, it's a cycle. And Dara, shout out to the actress. She was, she was, it was giving this episode. She was giving everything this episode. I was like, she is, this was great for her. This, that cold fury, like she,
[00:16:01] she did the damn thing on the, on this one. So, and Leon's like, so y'all about to, y'all about to ride up on these crypts. Y'all don't even know if they were the ones who did it. And they're like, well, people are reporting that, the people who, who, um, did it were dressed as crips. Leon immediately. He's like, DG. Like, he said, false flag. We don't, we don't know nobody who did it. DG. I'm like,
[00:16:31] Leon. I have some questions. I get it. I have some questions about Lee, but we'll talk about that a little bit later. Yeah. Big shout out to Elise Shannon. Um, sounds like she's been acting for, since about 2018, I think on television shows. Um, it seems like she was on the charmed reboot, um, for 11 episodes. She hasn't had a real, like steady role. It's all leverage, leverage redemption. Redemption.
[00:17:00] That was probably her biggest role. Um, but yeah, um, she did five episodes of the beast in me on Netflix, but I, I agree. I think she's a standout character here. Yeah. I don't know what that is. Uh, it says American psychological crime thriller, television, uh, television series. Um, and, uh, uh, Oh, executive producers include Jodie Foster and Conan O'Brien. Sounds like a big deal. I never heard of it. So maybe we'll check it out. Um, yeah.
[00:17:28] So when Dara goes to artillery and she's telling him like, we're about to choose violence, the crypt started it. She's ready for war, but artillery is not looking forward to that. He actually not even wearing red in this episode. He's wearing Brown. He like, I'm not affiliated with none of this. I don't want to be a part of it. I'm not in it. Um, because going to war is not going to bring Keith back to life. Uh, now, Wanda and Lamar rolling around and she ends up telling him that she, uh, wants to lead the recording session because she now has found out that Keith
[00:17:56] got killed and she knows it's going to bother artillery. Now, this is going to be, to me, this is the biggest storyline of the episode because Wanda, she tells him immediately. Let me step in because we know Lamar doesn't have the best bedside manner when it comes to other people's feelings, emotions, cares, wants, needs, thoughts, opinions. He, he's very, very self-centered. And so even in that moment, he's pushing back and she's saying, Hey, you know, we don't want to use,
[00:18:25] you don't want to use this moment to push artillery away even more. She wants to be the front person for all of this, but Lamar thinks he won't be taken seriously as a producer. If he isn't able to take the lead, I just wanted to reach through the screen. Like Homer Simpson. you know, you want to, because he said, I, I have, I've managed artillery. Have you? Have you? You literally have not. You have not.
[00:18:54] You have not. You have not. Any sense of the word. Not, not a single second of it. So I, I've never been so angry. My entire life. Like this little nigga gets on my gut. Oh my God. Like for the love of God. It's like, they need to be able to put him in a situation and say, you will be the producer. And that's it. You don't get to talk. You sit in that corner and you produce. And then we will handle the business side.
[00:19:22] And then you will get the spoil from the business. I will even, we'll promote your name, DJ next and all that kind of stuff. But you don't need to talk to anybody because that's not good for business. And they're trying to say this in the nicest way possible. I think at some point it needs to be in the contract. Like Lamar, you can do this, but you cannot talk. You're not allowed to. Cause, because you're, you're making the block hot in more ways than not. Uh, I won't say I was happy. He got punched in the face by the end of this, but I wasn't mad about it.
[00:19:52] He stayed getting punched in the face. And still talk. He needed. How many, how many times we have to tell you this old man, you know? Exactly. He never freaking learns. And it was, and this episode is really weird to me. Right. Because I was like, it felt like, it was like a lot of people doing dumb shit. Like for no reason to me. I was like, why are all of our characters acting like they don't have any common sense? Right. And,
[00:20:21] and so it felt like nothing was really progressing. Like, I'm so sick and tired of like, Lamar's got to create these songs. We got to sit down with artillery. Okay. Lamar's at the table. Artillery left. Artillery's at the table. Lamar left. Like this, that is, that is, that is what annoyed me the most in this episode. But then like, on top of it, all of a sudden, like, how are we making no progress? But then all of a sudden it's like, DG has one conversation. I won't want to get out of here. Like we need to cut her white lady cutting her.
[00:20:51] I'm like, what is going on? What did I miss? They're making a block high. You ain't miss nothing. I think they see the same thing we see. They can't get anything done. Artillery sits down. Lamar gets up. Lamar sits down. Artillery gets up. DG has identified this. And his plan throughout this episode is to now separate them even more by driving a wedge further between the two of them. So, we'll see DG playing dumb with Vince. I don't know if Vince, the lawyer, doesn't know at all that DG had this, made this happen.
[00:21:20] But he's like, yeah, now, another, as a black man, there's, I didn't need another reason for, to be nervous when the cops pull up behind me that, you know, now that Keith has died. I'm thinking, maybe he playing dumb. Because we know, we know that DG ordered this hit. But it doesn't seem like Vince does. I don't know. I was thinking, I was thinking like, Vince is like, I don't need to know. I don't need to know. Right. Yeah. But why y'all talk about it?
[00:21:50] Ain't nobody in the room, you know, unless y'all think y'all bugged already or whatever. Cause Leon definitely thinks it's coming. You know, we will see later on, the cops are going to walk in on him and have some pretty good, some big questions for him and his crew. But we haven't really touched on Jenny too much. She walks in and says that this murder is the best thing. She's one of the first people to really identify that this is good for business. The people are going crazy over the music and she wants to put out this
[00:22:16] guerrilla marketing campaign and really focus on the murder. The murder itself. GG says, okay, well, he's going to meet with the producers and really speed this process up. And apparently Jenny has an opportunity to really seize this moment because macroscope, they were pushing rock and roll, but the rock band that they had fell through. And so there is an opening for her to step in and kind of reclaim her glory, but she needs to move quickly. She needs to strike while the iron is hot. Unfortunately, anytime you're working with Lamar and artillery together,
[00:22:46] it's not going to move quickly. Yeah. It just, I'm so annoyed. Like how hard is it to make a beat rap, make a beat rap. Like it should be easy. And I'm not trying to be like condescending or anything, but it's just because we've seen this for this episode seven. So what? At least the past, since episode four, right. They've been trying to make and come up with another song. We had a,
[00:23:15] we had to take a break for a flashback episode. Last episode, nothing got accomplished. Technically this episode, nothing got accomplished. So it's just like, that's where the biggest frustration is. It's like, can y'all just sit down and do this, please? And I hate, I hate agreeing with DG. And that would be the only thing I agree with him on. Let me be clear. Let me be clear. I have a lot of grace for,
[00:23:45] uh, for artillery. He's going through a lot. You know, they beat the hell out of him. He, he got people hunting him, cops hunting him. I mean, don't get me wrong. He brought it on himself. He definitely should not make me making cop killing music. Uh, especially if you don't want to be about that life, you probably should stop. But that's it. He just lost one of his best friends, a family member, essentially. So I give him some grace for having a little writer's block. Yeah. Now Lamar. I don't know. I ain't got nothing for you kid. Uh, I mean, I've been, I've been a lot of grace.
[00:24:15] Yeah. Start making the beats. Um, so, um, Oh yeah. So we also see DG has tightened security because if they came after Keith, dear God, what are they going to do with us? And I'm thinking he's really living in this, in this delusional, like fantasy world where it's like, I didn't have anything to do with this. He's playing the part as he should for somebody who doesn't want eyes on him. But that's what I'm trying to figure out. Who, who all is aware of what is that exactly is happening here?
[00:24:43] I think it's both playing the fantasy part, but also like being like, Oh, but if somebody does find out, we got to be ready to, like, I need to be extra secured, extra beat up. Like, DG is such a punk. Um, yeah, he's such a punk. So he took them in this episode. He got them all on the ropes. Yeah, this was not great. Um, we see, uh, DG and his feelings about Wanda kind of exposed again,
[00:25:13] um, because Wanda comes in and she's getting some smoke from security. She don't want to say her name. She kind of like, you know who I am. And they like, well, you know, you need to go by the protocol. Uh, security measures have been increased, but when they talk, he's telling her, we got to make this, this music happen because you're going to get money. Uh, toward this album, you're going to get points. If, um, you know, or half a point, I guess I should say, um, toward on the, on the album. So we got to start making this stuff move. Um, but he's losing faith in Lamar. Of course,
[00:25:42] Wanda says, I can talk to Lamar. I don't know why she feels that way. She cannot. Uh, but eventually he goes to Vince and says, I'm sick of Wanda shit. I'm sick of her. I'm sick of Lamar. Cause they brought all this hood stuff into my, into my realm, right? All this street gangster stuff, wasn't a part of DG's whole thing until now, because when you bring in artillery, that brings in the bloods, bringing in Wanda brings in Leon, which in turn brings in the Crips, you know, and,
[00:26:11] and now you got gang violence surrounding your music. It's not really the safest. I mean, don't get me wrong. He's moving a little reckless, having people killed too, but he wasn't doing that before, uh, Wanda and Lamar came into his life. But also he would not be relevant if they hadn't come into his life, because it's sounding like he still was trying to do that East coast copy version of rap. When that is clearly not what is hot in their region right now.
[00:26:40] Like what's hot in the region is the upcoming gangster rap. So, yes, this wasn't his normal before he met them, but the way his creative was going, like, that's what Wanda said. Wanda said, I, I did this. I did all of this, which is true. If she wasn't there, he wouldn't even be in the conversation. So yeah, no bloods, no Crips, but no deal with Mexico. You know what I'm saying? So, uh, he can't,
[00:27:07] he blaming everybody by himself when he's the one who's getting himself into these crazy situations. Again, who rolls up to the hood with all that joy on? He was so dumb for that. So dumb, so dumb for that. Like he, but that was Wanda's. That was, exactly. It was. Uh, and so, um, this even says like, I told you, you should have fired her. And that's where DG said something that I think we need to pay attention to. He says, uh, you cannot underestimate somebody who basically is as resilient as Wanda, who is going through what she is going through. You cannot take your eye off of those people. And I agree.
[00:27:37] I think this entire time you and I have been outlining that when Wanda wants to get in a room, she can get in a room. She can talk her way into situations. She can talk her way out of situations. Sometimes it don't always work. Right. But for the most part, we have seen Wanda use the gift of gab several thousand times across this one season. And it is impressive what she's able to do with the limited amount of experience that she has in this industry. And so he even knows that somebody like Wanda, you probably need to stop her out altogether. I don't know how that looks on his end,
[00:28:06] but he knows that you can't just like, Oh, try to discard her and think she's not going to come back and try to, you know, take what's hers. Yeah, I agree that. Yeah. That was very sinister. What he said. I was like, Jesus, like, it was so annoying because I'm like, again, she, she set all this stuff up for you. And now you trying to push her out. And I was at least happy. I was like, well, at least Jenny has her back. That's what I was thinking when we had this conversation just to see like the end of the show. I'm not going to jump ahead, but see, even Jenny was kind of like,
[00:28:37] I don't need this. Like DG is, is coming up. DG is coming up with the, you know, the actual product. Y'all aren't, you know, and because Wanda didn't back Jenny up last week, right? When she asked her to, he doesn't feel as loyal to her. So yeah, DG, DG is bringing this all on himself and he's actually playing chess in this episode,
[00:29:05] but I feel like it might catch up with them. I mean, I hope so. I know. I am really against this man. Make no mistake. So, I mean, he did make the block hot by murdering somebody, right? So it's not like he did some type of victimless or like a witnessless crime, right? Like there were witnesses. They saw that D was wearing the, the crip colors. And so they do think it's gang related, but again, there are people who know the truth out there.
[00:29:35] And so, you know, there are enough breadcrumbs to lead this back to DG. I'm just hoping that it happens swiftly. Cause the cops are onto things, right? They show up in Leon's legal clinic and they want names. They want answers. They are asking about everything that's going on. And they know that Leon is tapped in enough to know what's going on. Um, they recognize Leon. They recognize Jay Loco. These detectives here, they're tapped in and they said,
[00:30:02] we need some information or we might just have to shut down this legal clinic that you've been allowed to run. Um, because I guess the premise of the clinic is that it's supposed to keep, um, you know, uh, like drug crime and stuff like that down. Um, um, but if Leon is, you know, keeping any information from them, then that's definitely something that they're going to need to, to get out of him. Now he, he is keeping information from them. Like I,
[00:30:31] like Leon doesn't really explain why he knows it's DG, but he just does. And I have questions about how he knows it's DG. I definitely, yeah, but I don't know, man. Cause he, when DG and, uh, Leon meet up, and this is a little bit later on in the episode, he goes to them and tells them keep, you know, all of this off of my doorstep. If you come after my family, if my family's involved in any of this stuff, you have to deal with me.
[00:30:57] But he talks to DG as if he knows that DG has done this. And DG knows that he knows that he's done this right. Like he's not talking to hypotheticals. He's not asking him, did you do this? Um, DG side is more like pretending that, what are you talking about? You know? Um, I think it's D who says, well, whoever did it, they're not stupid. So, you know, nothing to worry about there. I'm like Leon, if you think DG really did this, why are you so cavalier about it?
[00:31:25] I think because Leon is just like artillery in a way of like, he knows that. Okay. DG killed Keith, which was stupid, but all this is going to do is just bring. He, the feds on it, the police. He's going to bring the, the gang wars together. He, he just, he sees, he sees what's coming and he,
[00:31:49] he wants to prevent it like as much as he possibly can as somebody who's already on the other side of it. You know what I'm saying? That's, that was, that's my thought process. Um, also, I just think DG is so transparent too. You know what I'm saying? Like he's, he's not hard to read. Yeah. Yeah. That's just, he's real simple, real shallow. I just feel like if you're Leon, you wouldn't want to tell the killer that, you know, the killer is the killer because then they can,
[00:32:17] but it's Leon and DG, DG and Deanna aren't killing Leon. If that makes sense. Like, I don't see, he clearly, I mean, I think he's clearly demonstrating that he's like, I have y'all number. I can, I can read y'all like a book. So you can try to come for me, but I'll probably see it coming two steps ahead. That was, that was my slight read on it. I didn't think DG ain't nobody. I don't care what anybody says. I don't care about Daryl. Yeah.
[00:32:48] With the perm. No, nobody worried about Daryl. Not if I'm Leon. Yeah. Not at all. So, not my Leon. Oh yeah. So it was just a very interesting answer because I mean, Leon does have the answers here, but I agree with you. I think Leon is like artillery. He's hell bent on not getting dragged back into this. He doesn't want to live in this lifestyle. And if he is, you know, talking about who killed who and all this other stuff, you know,
[00:33:16] obviously he's in a relationship to some extent with Dara. She's got, she's going to be looking at him to help her in that situation. I think he should be concerned in general about Lamar and Wanda. That if DG would kill Keith, why wouldn't he kill Wanda if he wanted to, you know, if it came to it. That's why I'm just a little bit taken aback at how, like, like how chill he is about it because you would think you would tell Wanda, this man is murdering people.
[00:33:44] Stay away from him and get your cousin away from him too. Cause he will murder you too. Instead. He's kind of like, no, you don't get it. You got to stay away from it. Leon, say the quiet part out loud. So we're all on the same page. Yeah. Yeah. I, I, it's kind of like him not telling Dara. It's like, he, he is trying to hold the dam back from breaking. And unfortunately it's, it's just, he, it's not, he's not going to be able to do it. I think he,
[00:34:12] he's just trying to keep everybody level headed and trying to, you know, keep the information away from people that he'll know won't react well to it, but it's just not gonna, I just think it's not going to work. He, he, he has good intentions, but of course, you know, yeah. And all that. So like, yeah, I, I, uh, Leon is trying, but it's not these, all these people are crazy and none of them got no God's turn since.
[00:34:41] So we are the only person. It's really a bunch of crash test dummies running around in, in circles, you know, like they, yeah, they're not, um, I think it's in the wire where, um, and this is not to spoil the water wire for anybody who hasn't seen it, even though it's 20 years old, but come with me on the journey, uh, on the wire, you have kind of like two different rivalry types, like rival types of, uh, ways of looking at the drug game. You have, um, Avon Barksdale. Who's like,
[00:35:11] this is the drug, the drug game. And I'm in it. And I want to be the King of it. And that's how I'm playing the game. I have no intention of getting out. So then you have Stringer Bell who's like, no, we need to create a co-op and then we need to invest in businesses and buy real estate. And then we don't have to live this life no more. But Stringer is trying to play chess with checker pieces. These people are crash test dummies. Okay. They don't, they don't play like by the rules. They don't follow.
[00:35:41] If they were going to do that, they would have went to college and did that. They didn't come. They didn't sign up for that. They signed up to shoot, shoot at each other and run from the cops. They are, they have been doing that since they're kids. And they want to continue doing that despite logic saying you should stop. And so I think that, yeah, Leon is trying to move around. Like, Hey, this is do things right, but let's get a legal clinic and, you know, get a laundromat. And it's like, all this stuff. It's like, no, you're surrounded by clownery. And when there's clownery, you know, the clown comes out to bite you, you know? So,
[00:36:11] so there's that. We do have to talk about a little bit, the Lamar and artillery kind of, you know, I mean, there's not really much to say. It's just that they just are oil and water right now. Artillery is going through a lot and Lamar literally does not care. Lamar pissed me off so much. Like artillery is like, these are the samples I'm feeling. What was it? Ooh, what was, what was the reference he said? Chappelle? It was like, sounded like it was going to be like some kind of public enemy, public enemy,
[00:36:42] like conscientious type. And he gave them samples. And Lamar said, thank you. But also, don't you think you could have told me this sooner? I would have, I was like, poor Wanda was like, can we, can we take five? Artillery said, man, fuck you. Like, what are we doing? Lamar, you get on my nerves. This man just lost his frame.
[00:37:11] He comes up with all these concepts for his album, just for you to shit on them. Like, just because what you can't make a beat in, in front of other people in two seconds, like produce. Yeah, this was, this was bad. This was bad. Especially. It's just the way he's talking to him. He said, Hey artillery, you didn't think you to maybe, I don't know, call me first before you brought these records. So I could get a sense of what I wanted to do. It's like, all right, all right, hold on.
[00:37:42] Hey, slow your roll. Because Lamar also has to remember, it's a little dude. Like, I don't know. You guys, too much different. A little bit too much. You would think after getting punched so many times, you know, he would kind of chill, but he going to stand on 10 toes on being a dumb ass because I didn't like any of this at all. Like artillery is even telling him, like my homie just got killed. We got Wanda saying Lamar, chill. Andy saying Lamar, chill. Later on, Jay Loco will show up and say Lamar, chill.
[00:38:12] Just damn it. Physical violence apparently isn't helping. I don't know how to get through them on this. Got to choke that boy. You got to. So, so Wanda, of course, tells Lamar not to do anything. And Lamar says no and decides to do something. He says, I'm going to take artillery scratch vocals and put it over his music. Andy, of course, reminds him that that is not a great idea considering they were just told. And then boom, here we are.
[00:38:40] We get artillery on the recording, but it's Lamar's produced songs, but it's artillery's lyrics from prior to Keith being murdered. Now we just heard what artillery is talking about. Artillery came in talking about public enemy and his new vibes that he wants. He's been saying, I don't want to do gangster rap no more. I don't even bang like that no more. Right. And yet Lamar is like, okay, so here's the next gangster song.
[00:39:07] We're going to drop behind your back without your, without your actual vocals. I'm going to use the scratch vocals. Sorry. I would have been so angry because he's like, this is not what I want. And this music, like we said, the news is actually saying, could this be related to Keith's death? Is the music you're making, um, helping perpetuate these ideas that people need to be out in the street, banging and shooting each other. And if artillery is trying to get away from that, Lamar is definitely not helping.
[00:39:36] No, Lamar, the audacity, the nerve, the gumption, the gall, like, weren't you just mad? Like five episodes ago when they were going to send a recording that you actually made to like the radio. So you think it's now okay to go behind somebody's back and use a scratch vocal that they don't want people to use onto your production, your produced music, like the level of mental gymnastics. He's so, Oh, he's so, so,
[00:40:06] so true. And I might need you to explain this a little bit more to me, because then they bring in tiptoe, which was a good shout that you, um, you and one of our listeners pointed out that, that, that was a, a current rapper and that we were probably going to see him more. So what were they having tiptoe do? They were trying to,
[00:40:30] it's so they were trying to have tiptoe record basically demos or was it like, kind of like a, um, like a, like a flow check. Like, like it was tiptoe's words, but he, like, he put it to the music. So they, that artillery could understand the cadence. Like what was tiptoe actually doing there? So what, um,
[00:40:59] so here's what happened. Um, DG comes in and he sees Lamar and this stupid plan that Lamar has. And he realizes this is my moment that I can use to really drive a wedge between the two of you. So he says, yeah, we could definitely put artillery's old vocals that he hates on these new songs and just give them or better idea. We could let tiptoe record over your new tracks and get him a deal.
[00:41:27] And that is going to make artillery feel like his spot is threatened. And then he'll fall in line. That was literally what this was about. It was about using tiptoe to make artillery jealous. That is so stupid. This is so dumb. Which again, it's stupid because Lamar spent a whole last episode begging artillery not to work with other producers. What are we doing here? So you don't want him to work with other producers, but you are okay to work with other artists. No,
[00:41:57] cause it's just to get him in line. All right. It's to motivate him. You don't see the difference. And DG, DG is like, you're exciting to me. So if I tell you to go to tiptoe, you gotta be with tiptoe. You gotta give your music to tiptoe. So yeah, I mean, he's making it sound like it's Lamar's choice, but if DG said these songs are mine, then they are his, you know, like based on per the details of the contract that we haven't actually read, but he will later on tell, I think he told tiptoe like, I don't know all this music. Yeah.
[00:42:26] So tiptoe is portrayed by the, the rapper Simba, S Y M B A. Who's a Bay area rapper. And he's really good. I've checked out some of Simba's music recently. And yeah. And hearing him rap on the show, it was really good as well. I knew he would be a artist. I knew it was some type of jealousy where artillery is going to come into play, but it really does feel like he's brought in as a tool. Turns out it's actually going to be a step further than that, because the more tiptoe records,
[00:42:55] the more they're noticing how good he is. They try to make artillery jealous. Artillery catches on that. That's what's going on him. And of course him and Lamar fall out a little bit more, but later on. Yeah. But later on, um, it's, um, the conversation between, uh, DG and tiptoe where he says, I'm doing this to push everybody away from each other. I want artillery to split for Lamar. He said, boom, we don't need Lamar anymore. I can bring in new producers for him.
[00:43:24] And now I got you on Lamar's produced songs. We can do a compilation album. It doesn't have to be the artillery album. It's got writer on it. It's got back to the hood on it. Now it's going to have this new tiptoe. Toast up on it. I don't need him. I don't, I no longer need Lamar. And guess what? That means I don't need Wanda either. So DG's plan is moving right along. Right. Exactly. Like that. Yeah. Lamar correctly identified last episode that he,
[00:43:54] he needed to stay in artillery. He's good graces so that he could stay with the label just for him to push artillery away. Wanda is trying to keep it all together. She can't because again, it's Lamar. And, but at this point, artillery don't even want to, to make these kind of, you know what I'm saying? Like he, he's not even feeling inspired because his friend has died. So it was really, yeah. DG,
[00:44:21] DG really was playing like 40 chess with them. Cause Tiptoe was like, I was already sad. And that compilation album thing, I was like, so they going to do like gangster rap volume one, like, I guess. Right. Yeah. I mean, we've seen stuff like, I mean, not to evoke Voldemort's name, but you know, bad boy presents the family, you know, stuff like that, you know, Ja Rule and murder. Murder League, their stuff. Exactly.
[00:44:53] Yeah. This stuff has been done. It has been done. And so, yeah, he's point. He just needs to get Lamar and Wanda out of the way. He doesn't like them. Smart for him too. Like a black better. He cooked them up. He cooked them up. He cooked them up this episode. Um, yeah. So. Yeah. I think it was even when, uh, he's explaining it to Tiptoe. Um, he says, I saw that they wasn't getting along. So I ran some basic shit and it really was basic. Hey,
[00:45:22] it was so transparent. Um, but told Lamar how great his music was and I needed to sign you. Uh, and, uh, and of course, Tiptoe's like, yeah, I've been signed. And he's like, yeah. And so, um, now we got those tracks for you. Um, and they're your tracks now. I own them. Uh, so everything they're doing is just falling right into DG's hands. And so, yeah, the compilation album is coming soon. And Lamar and artillery are doing them. So it's no favorite. again,
[00:45:49] I will give a little bit more grace to artillery because he does want to rap. He just does not want to rap about what Lamar wants to rap about on the beats. Lamar wants him to rap about. And then when, when he tries to come in like, I don't know, grieve for a day or so, they're making moves behind his back to push him out or to make him jealous and all this other stuff. And he's got a lot going on because, um, we see him also go to the, um, the, I guess it's, I guess this is the wake, right? Of the funeral for, uh, for Keith. Maybe there's just the repass maybe.
[00:46:19] Yeah. Yeah. Um, yeah. It's like the, after the fune, I'd say probably the repass. Yeah. Before the fune. Right. I couldn't, I couldn't tell you the timeline, but yeah, the blood is sitting shiver and they're hanging out. And, um, we see that he comes to pay his respects. And when he does, we see that Dara's dad is actually there. And it's kind of gives a little bit more of a insight into who Dara is. Her dad is an OG.
[00:46:47] They call him big Tino and big Tino got a lot of respect. He recently got the hospital. I think he had a colostomy bag or something like that. That's what it sounded like. Yeah. Yeah. Um, but Dara is telling him that the bloods are ready. Hey, they're ready to ride for Keith. Of course, artillery is not a fan of that. And she calls him out. She says, Oh, because you trying to leave us to go get famous. You can tell she can tell like things are getting hot. And the people that were there for artillery when he had nothing are still going to be there, but artillery plans on leaving them all behind for a better life.
[00:47:17] Um, they even call him the hood superstar. And, um, yeah, he's talking about getting out of there. Now the bloods are not happy about this. We see Chuck, one random blood is like, I'm ready to beat the black off of this dude. And I mean, point blank, just like walks into the fune or the repass and says, let's fight. Now artillery, of course, we know he's not really about that life right now, but it's big Tino who tells him to shut up. Like, you're not going to do nothing in here. You're not going to lay a finger on artillery, but there's only so much, uh,
[00:47:46] protecting they're going to be able to do for somebody like artillery who clearly wants to leave them behind and, you know, leave Keith as a distant memory. Yeah. I, I, like, as soon as I saw the title of the episode was blood in and blood out, I was like, Oh no, but I will say the look on the, the actual place, artillery says, like when, um, the, the bloods, which they look kind of like, Oh, like semi OG bloods too. They were not young fellows.
[00:48:16] Yeah. Um, when they, when they come in and they're talking about, we're going to jump you. You want to get out? Right. That look that artillery gave was just so pointed, pointed. Like they're like, he literally like, it was like a, like, it was like a slow blink. It was just like a, like, it was a slow blink and like, uh, exhale. Like he, like he was exasperated. You know what I'm saying? Like, like he was just done. He tired. Yeah. It was, it was a small moment. It was,
[00:48:45] it was, it was a real small moment. And I was like, damn, like you could just feel it. You could just feel him wanting to leave. I can't wait till we get to our prediction for that, for next episode. Yeah. Yeah. You know how that goes. Um, Wanda does end up showing up and giving him a ride and dropping off some flowers for, uh, Dara artillery and Wanda talk and they're talking about Lamar. He's not learning. Even if he fucked with you, it's still not enough. Um, they kind of talk about, well, Lamar has been through a lot.
[00:49:15] He's lost his family. And I tell you, like who hasn't Wanda says she lost her family twice artillery. We know he don't even got a picture of his mama. Uh, and so for him, he's not really, he's not really feeling the sympathy for Lamar. She's he's us at home. We're all like, move on. He even says that Lamar, uh, that Wanda has a blind spot for him. Uh, and she can't even acknowledge it, which she does. Um, so J Loco is at black banner trying to get in. Cause he's of course, keeping an eye on Lamar.
[00:49:45] We know that is his full-time job and Lamar comes out and dodges for him, but all the rest of the thugs got to wait outside inside. They are trying out tiptoes music. And although they say he ain't a real rapper, his drunk ass is dropping some heat. Okay. They're, they're into it. Right. And that's when we find out about the compilation album. J Loco picks up on everything that's going on. He's telling Lamar, Hey, you tripping. You can't tell that this man is trying to take advantage of you. DG is getting rid of both of them.
[00:50:15] And J Loco says Lamar has been selfish and he doesn't want to hear what, uh, J Loco is trying to tell him Lamar has everybody telling him the same. Exact thing over and over and over and over and over. But he's too smart. He's smarter than everybody. He's so self-centered that he just can't, he can't see the forest for the trees. And he even throws out the, you just jealous. I love, I love that response in every show and in life, you know, when you try to give somebody some really good advice, you just,
[00:50:44] you just mad. Cause I got this and that. All right, whatever. Do your thing. You grown. And the most famous one, nigga, I'm broke. I'm broke. Nigga. When they, when they, um, yeah, it's almost like Lamar can't read social cues or something like that. Yeah. But we're past social cues. We are telling you the words. This is not a cue. People are saying stop. And he's ignoring it. You know what I'm saying?
[00:51:14] DG asked him the most ridiculous question. I hate that. I'm not going to repeat it. He's like, how slow are you? And he used the R word. I was like, God damn. Um, but honestly, I think it's a legitimate question for somebody like DG. He's like, something's off. You know what I'm saying? He's like, this is not, things aren't connected because he's, he's saying that as he's actively trying to take advantage of Lamar and it's working, everybody else is saying, don't listen to him. Go the other way. Stop. Don't. And he's like, Nope. I know everything. I'm correct. Uh,
[00:51:43] and so now the family's all fighting Lamar's at, uh, uh, Wanda. Wanda's at it with Lamar and Jay Loco. They're all fighting each other. It is all Lamar's fault. I don't care what you know what this is. It is. It is. It's all Lamar's fault for falling for DG's middle school plan. They all could have died in the blood house. Wanda's now on the bad side of her family. They got thrown in jail and this is all Lamar's fault. Now I think all these are valid critiques. Uh, and he really didn't have anything to say for himself.
[00:52:13] He ends up walking off. Now you mentioned Wanda and Jenny earlier and you're right. Jenny to this point had been looking out for one. I thought the lady had an ulterior motive. I was like, something ain't right. This is a sinister white lady. Don't trust it. And you were like, Nope. It looks like she's in. She sees Wanda's gift. She can also tell that one is a woman in this industry. She's going to look out for him. And she has to this point. So, I can't lie to you. I have no issue with what Jenny did in this episode. I know.
[00:52:43] Unfortunately, it was like, it Wanda really was reaping a lot of the things that she was sowing. This, uh, uh, that this, um, episode, like you didn't do, it was the warning last week. Jenny said, stand with me, stand on the side of the business, not the side of the people of your family. She didn't do it. So, I, Jenny's like, I,
[00:53:13] I, things are happening. A murder happened. I'm trying to capitalize on it and you aren't helping me. So if DG gets rid of you, Oh, well, that's it. So that was, it is what it is. Yeah. But she said it, she said, I need you to back me up. Wanda can't expect Jenny to go above and beyond for her every time. And then Wanda can just keep picking Lamar over Jenny. It's not how it works. Right. So yes, you are the reason why Jenny was able to maintain her job. But since then,
[00:53:43] what have you done for me lately? You know, we're trying to make things happen and you're in the way. And so she's very much in the camp of, I don't need you anymore. Uh, I have DG. DG has tip though. Uh, Wanda doesn't really know, know that part, but you know, Jenny does, or at least it's familiar with DG's moves enough to know that the rap is taken off. They already got the music. They own back to the hood. They own writer. Yeah. Okay. Now we bring in some other producers and some other artists.
[00:54:12] We got a compilation album. Goodbye, Wanda. What else? What is, what is, why do we, why would we need you to hear it? And why would we need your cousin either? Yeah, exactly. I can't, there's nothing to add to that because it's true. They kind of, um, box themselves in with all of the shenanigans before this episode of just not being able to really put anything out. Yeah. It's tough. It's really bad.
[00:54:42] Cause it's, it's like you watch Wanda realize that she overplayed her hand because every now and then Wanda start feeling herself like, like, uh, I did this. I did that. Yeah. But we're past that already. You know, we're moving on and, and you're not helping with the, um, production of what we do have. Right. Like you said, five episodes, we've gone without hearing a new song. We have been listening to back to the hood so much. No, the whole damn song by heart. I was singing it the other day. It's been so long.
[00:55:12] It's been so long. And so, um, we have some other issues as well. things are about to get a little bit worse for Wanda. I'll say. So, uh, we find, um, Leon talking. Yeah, this is definitely it. Uh, we see Leon, uh, talking to Dara that the block is too hot. The police got names. They're coming after him. And that's when she's asking him, like, what would you do in our, in our situation? There's a knock on the door.
[00:55:41] And I thought, Oh God, they about to come after Leon. They didn't got him. Oh God. They got him. They got my boy. They got him. Mario was even worse. It was Wanda. Not, it was even worse. It was even worse. It was Wanda. Cause of course, what'd she come out with? Gimme. Gimme. Gimme. Guess what I need. I'm surprised she knocked. To be quite honest. She ain't got no key. He finally took the key. So, Oh, she, she could have went through the window again.
[00:56:09] So Wanda comes in demanding to talk. She wants to take out DG. She's like, Hey, it's time to get rid of him. But Leon finally tells her that she needs to listen and she needs to get out of business with DG. It's too much thug stuff going on here. She can tell that Leon knows something about what's going on. And she puts together that it's Keith. That was, uh, that DJ that Leon is hiding for DG. He knows that it was Keith. And they happen to be talking about this while Dara is in the other room. She doesn't actually overhear,
[00:56:38] which I thought she did. But, um, when Wanda saw Dara, she goes to attack her. And I laugh because you called it. You like, Wanda is not going to be happy with this at all. And I was like, girl, you late. Get over it. You lost, you lost the game. You have no reason to be bad right now. Is she here? You not. It's, and then what did even,
[00:57:08] what did Wanda even say to him? And he was like, you called it off. You know what I'm saying? Like, this was your idea. Yeah. Like, yeah, this is your fault. Yeah. He said, I can't wait for you to grow Wanda. We tried that. Remember? She's like, oh, well he starts, she starts running game. He's like, he even asked her, can you stop hustling me? Because you know, that's kind of her go-to, right? When she figures out there's game to run, she starts to try to run it. Um, he's telling them the, uh, you know,
[00:57:38] he's telling her to chill, not really listening. Um, it's, it's just, it's just a bad look all around. She says, Leon, I need you. And you're like, oh my God. Like, oh, it's tough. Wanda attacks, Wanda attacks, um, Dara, or at least tries to. Yeah. He holds her back. And then Wanda puts her nuts on the table. And I will give her all credit in the world for this. Hey, I ain't never seen no shit like that before.
[00:58:08] Lady, you left me high and dry. I done moved on. And now you demanding that I get rid of my old chick. Okay. Bet. I won't do that. I mean, my new chick, I won't do that. But then she said, okay, well make me leave. And he can't even do that. I said, Oh, that's a power play. Like, girl, I'm here. Cause I, I'll leave when I want to leave. I was just like, maybe she just meant make her leave for like right now while we talk and she can come back.
[00:58:37] She said, make that bitch leave. He like, no, it make me leave. I can't do that either. That was, yeah, that was, I was like, damn, like she, she knew exactly. Poor. Oh, poorly. Poor Leon. Yeah. He loved her dirty drawers. I say this every episode. So, um, yeah, she, she said like, Oh, you lied to me. I was like, that man did not lie to you. That man did not lie to you. That's what she said. Yeah. I was like, I don't understand.
[00:59:07] I will say this. She called him a coward and I don't completely disagree. I think that, um, he's not, obviously Leon got a heart of a lion. So we've seen that a million times over. I, no one's going to question that, but in this moment, he can't stand till toes and tell, tell Wanda to get out. He does their, their joint trauma. He will never turn his back on her. I don't know if it's a fear that she won't ever come back or what, but he's found something new. He's clearly happy ish.
[00:59:37] You know, it doesn't look like they're having any personal issues aside from, you know, obvious gang drama. And Wanda is treating him like crap, but he don't have the guts to tell her never come back. I don't want you here. I've moved on. We are not going to be together. She has dumped that man multiple times, but he cannot, he can't let her go. Yeah. It's, it's so cute, but also very toxic. And also, whatever.
[01:00:08] I'm very sad for the, for the both of them. I just, it's, I don't know. It was so cute to me though. And I, and I, and I, and I think mostly because I like the Wanda, the Indara scene afterwards. Oh my God, I'm sorry. I'm digging into my eyeball. No, we could, we could jump straight to that scene. Wanda does go in to Dara or Dara goes to Wanda. She finds her at the pool. Wanda says, this is where I spent a lot of time getting crack. Uh, and so they kind of talk in that moment. And,
[01:00:38] uh, Wanda just is reliving the days of, from when she, um, you know, was kind of outside, um, strung out a little bit. Um, you know, she wasn't living right, but you can tell that she has that. Um, she has that survival instinct, right? Like this is the reason why DG knows not to underestimate her. He says she was floating in this pool. She always knew that something could happen. She knew that she could die at any moment, but she didn't care.
[01:01:07] And that's how she feels right now. She could die at any moment, but she does not care. What if this goes up in smoke? She's seen it all before. Now that said, Dara is basically coming to kind of like bury the hatchet. I thought she was saying at one point, she like, when she was on like crack that she didn't care about that. It felt like she was saying she, at that point, it sounded like she said, that's how I feel right now. Oh, okay. Yeah. Um, like now,
[01:01:38] yeah. Like now that everything is kind of crashing. Okay. Things are crashing down around her. She kind of like backing into the corner. Um, and this is where, uh, Dara picks up that this ain't about Lee. Leon. What is this about? And Wanda says, DG kill Keith. Now I screamed because Wanda, you, you know, Leon can't have, Leon can't have nothing. God dang. Now you didn't make Leon out to be a liar to this girl. And she didn't need to betray her.
[01:02:07] I was like, all you had to do. Wanda got, Wanda got two things accomplished right there. She, she drove away between Dara and Leon and she's hoping to get DG's ass taken out. She's just as bad as DG. Just as bad as DG. chest moves. DG. I ain't mad at Wanda. It just took me, it took me down a little bit. Um, but yeah, she said DG kill Keith. And you could tell Dara's reaction is like, all right, Leon F him. Cause what?
[01:02:37] And then also we got to go after DG. But Wanda says, no, hold on. Slow your roll. There's a bigger play here. Um, there's money to be made. We've heard Leon talk about it. We've heard it kind of repeated throughout the season. You can have war and you can have money. She can't have both. And so Wanda's in, put your war to the side and let's go get this paper. Do you know what she was referring to? No, I don't really know what they're going to do. I mean, to be fair,
[01:03:05] they do have the information that DG is behind the murder of Keith. Right? So let's say DG is found out. Say somebody goes to the cops or an anonymous tip gets called in or a raid happens. And there's evidence that links the death of Keith to DG. DG is gone. Macroscope has an opening. Jenny likes Wanda to some extent, right? Like she kind of fed up with her right now, but for the most part, they have a good relationship. Maybe DG is out.
[01:03:35] Wanda's in. And then we got season two with Wanda kind of in the DG spot. And Leon and all of them kind of rallying in as a part of Wanda's crew. I can see it. I don't know if they're, this is the type of people that would snitch. Like, you know what I'm saying? Like, I don't know if they would have that kind of speed to them. So is this prediction territory? I mean, I don't know if they're kind of,
[01:04:05] I mean, the only thing we really didn't talk about is that Lamar ends up getting punched in the face. He goes to apologize to artillery. Yeah. And the, the Jackers run up on them. They take off running. They separate. Was that the cops? I believe so. I believe so. Yeah. Because, yeah. Because Lamar tried to say J Loco thing. Yeah. Okay. Gotcha. Yeah. He tells artillery, you go. Don't worry. I'm not a banger. They won't touch me. The boy got hubris out the ass. I'm fine. They'll kill you. They won't bother me.
[01:04:34] I'm not a gang banger. Oh my God. My, my brother is J Loco. Don't. I think his feet left the ground. And I said, how has he not learned that the last, the first time he got punched was by the Crips. Remember? The Crips has never spared you. The Crips took your shoes in jail. Sure did. Oh my God. Tell him, you know, J Loco. I did. Where are your shoes at?
[01:05:04] Exactly. Oh my God. Yeah. The Crips really have been jacking him up this whole entire time. Actually. Somebody need to. Yes. Uh, and so, and yeah, he splits from artillery. So definitely into spoilers now. So my guess for the finale is artillery finally gets caught up. I think artillery dies. He becomes, yeah, I think he becomes like the,
[01:05:33] the gangster martyr that he did not want to become. They make the compilation. They use his vocals. He didn't want. And just like we said at the beginning of the show, they push a whole bunch of units and make a lot of money. Jenny makes a lot of money for Vaxscope off of artillery's death. I think, I want to say, I think DG does too, but just going back off of what we just said,
[01:06:01] I'm hoping that Leon maybe just tips other artists off that DG is basically like kind of stealing from him. And maybe then DG is like maybe sued. Or like you said, he ends up in the, the justice system in some way, shape or form where Jenny has to now, uh, separate from him. Like you said, in steps, Wanda and Leon, maybe not even in black man,
[01:06:31] or maybe Wanda with Leon foot in the bill have their own. Bombastic eye roll. Oh, like I could, see DJ DG somehow ending in prison for, for like them, them getting him in prison. Like you said, I don't know, snitching and whatever, but he ends up in prison. And then maybe when, when he's in prison, because we have that, the callback to gangs in prison,
[01:06:57] then maybe Dara makes a phone call to some of the bloods in prison. You ready to get him out of here. Jail ain't enough. Jail ain't enough. I want him dead. I know. I don't want him to see season two, but I, I, I understand that he does. What are your predictions for the finale? I mean, I really, I really liked that idea. I hadn't actually thought that far through. I definitely think that Wanda is going to make a move to get, um, to get DG out of the way. Right. Like,
[01:07:26] I think this is the moment they have. They, and they have the ammunition. Yeah. They know that there is something there. And when there's smoke, there's fire. And so there's got, they got to figure out a way to pin this on DG or D, um, you know, because D did it for hire. I don't know if D is going to go down, but I think you could definitely get this on DG. Um, they did allude to it as episode. The detectives were saying that Leon will shut all this shit down with this legal clinic. Wanda has told Leon to set the legal clinic down as well. Move on. Let's go do something else.
[01:07:55] I think this is the end of the legal clinic for sure. I think that once that ends, Leon will be free to do more of the music stuff that he wants to do. Mm-hmm. I think Dara's gone too. I think, I think, yeah, cause I don't think Dara, like if anybody's going to die in a blood, in a gang war is Dara. She doesn't seem like she's. Amenable to, to changing, right? Like throughout the entire episode, she never wants considered is not being at war. Right. Everybody comes to her and says, Hey,
[01:08:25] let it go. Artillery's like, we can't, we don't have to live like this. She's like, that's my best friend. That's my best friend. That's my best friend. There ain't no way Dara is going to allow Keith to go out unavenged. So I don't know if she survives or like you said, maybe she makes the call and he's in jail or something like that, but whatever it is, I don't know how much more Dara we're going to get. Uh, because you know, her and Wanda are not going to be able to cohab, you know, cohabitate that much longer together either. You know, I just don't see that happening. Like they're a marriage of convenience right now, but I don't see it being like a long-term friendship.
[01:08:55] Like, could you imagine a like two season arc love triangle between Dara, Wanda and Leon be for real. Okay. Yeah, I see it. She got to stand up. I mean, girl, he won't even kick out his ex for you. That's what I'm saying. Like I, I haven't, I could see Dara breaking up with Leon next episode for not telling, for not telling her about, um, DG and for not kicking out Wanda. Like right then and there. So yeah,
[01:09:24] he basically said, Wanda ain't going nowhere right to her face. So, I mean, what do you think this is? She wanted to build with this man. She didn't say she just wanted to, you know, kind of, you know, hang out, chill. She's like, nah, I want you to help me build something new here. Yeah. Yeah. So I don't know. I don't see that. But what do you think? And then I guess we can leave this kind of as our final prediction. As we wrap this up, what do you think will happen to Lamar? He's been punched in the face so many times. The music is slipping away from him.
[01:09:54] What do you see happening next? So I can also see his kind of worst nightmare happening. DG owns all of his music. DG can take all them little tapes, put them on that compilation album. That album become a major success produced by DJ next. And Lamar is, becomes well-known, becomes famous, gets some money. And it's for, for a product that he did not like.
[01:10:22] The product he didn't like. Yeah. Or, you know, I think there's something to that for sure. Especially with Lamar kind of getting that, you know, like, yeah, back to the hood, Ryder's going to go off, but he ain't going to get rich off of that. He's not going to get rich off of that. Wanda's really going to get rich off of that, right? So, but that's what I'm saying. I think that Lamar's hum, his humbling experience might be that, right? Where he has to look at Wanda and Leon kind of moving into this spot
[01:10:51] and knowing that they don't need him. He's not, because remember he, he's artillery, artillery's muse. If your prediction is correct, artillery's dead. So, so now what, what do you have to bring to the table Lamar? That's what I mean. I think if they use his beats on that compilation album, he now gets famous. And now other artists might request to work with him. Maybe, maybe for sure. Um, there, there's something there, but again, I think this is the bean story. I think whatever he does has to be tied to Gail beam.
[01:11:20] And so if she decides, I think that, I think that Wanda's character is going to be in control. Cause I really do think something, something needs to humble Lamar to where he knows how to work in a business sense. You know, I don't have any issue with people who are geniuses. He's been, we can't do this for three seasons. We can't, we can't do this forever. Anytime soon. I mean, at that point, humble him was, it's a meds and that's not happening in the nineties. I'm sorry. It's not happening in the nineties. That something,
[01:11:47] something's got to give because we're not going to be able to move forward with anything. If we got Lamar in the way, but again, if artillery is dead, Lamar doesn't have any leverage. You know, all he can say is like, they can say Lamar, produce a beat or get out of the way. That's it. We got other producers. Jenny's bringing in other producers. Our DG is already going and rounded them up. Get on the bus or get left behind. It's kind of what I'm thinking is going to happen for Lamar. And I think that's necessary. I, I, I,
[01:12:14] that's why I think that I think his humbling moment is he's going to get very famous, very well known. A whole bunch of people are going to be wanting to work with him. And the label is going to pressure him to work with other artists. And that's going to be his, like his, like he's not good at working with new people. And so like, I think that's going to be his conflict, his new, his new conflict. Well, we will find out about that all next week. When we talk about the finale of, uh, the drop, I believe the title is Hercules.
[01:12:45] I have no insight into what that could possibly mean. Um, so we'll just have to wait and find out. We haven't touched base with Wanda and, uh, and James's family at all. We don't know where Gertie is in this. We don't know where, uh, big daddy is in this at all. I've had enough of them. They don't need anymore. I, we, I don't know if we're going to touch base with them. Yeah, that was it. We had enough. So yeah, I don't know where we're going next,
[01:13:15] but, uh, we will find out next week. Uh, when we check out the episode and when we drop our recap, uh, should be up next Thursday. But until then, Mari, what else do you have going on in your neck of the woods? Um, over on crime scene, me and Sarah Carradine are reviewing true crime.
