[00:01:51] [SPEAKER_02]: Carol. Carol. Carol. Carol. What are we watching, folks? What are we watching?

[00:01:55] [SPEAKER_03]: You know, before we started recording, I said, y'all are going to have to help me with this because I'm not quite sure what I'm watching because, you know, but I have smart people with me.

[00:02:03] [SPEAKER_03]: So I felt like y'all got it. And then you took my first question, AJ. Why is this called Moulin Rouge?

[00:02:10] [SPEAKER_00]: No, because they can, can, can. I have no idea.

[00:02:14] [SPEAKER_00]: Jess, anything?

[00:02:16] [SPEAKER_00]: Because it made me very dizzy and gave me motion sickness. I don't know.

[00:02:20] [SPEAKER_00]: There was a picture of a windmill on a wall. And if that's all that was, if that's all the reason they had to call it that.

[00:02:30] [SPEAKER_00]: I guess, or I don't know, maybe there's something in there like a blood spattered corkscrew is like a wheel.

[00:02:36] [SPEAKER_00]: I, I'm stretching a lot of things here.

[00:02:41] [SPEAKER_03]: This, this is like, you told me to name a show, you know, that is set in France.

[00:02:47] [SPEAKER_03]: And I just started saying like the first few French words that I know.

[00:02:50] [SPEAKER_03]: And I'm like, aha, Moulin Rouge.

[00:02:51] [SPEAKER_03]: Like it feels like that's how we landed on that, you know, because I was waiting on something.

[00:02:56] [SPEAKER_03]: I was waiting on anything. Christina Aguilera, are you here?

[00:02:59] [SPEAKER_03]: You know, I was looking for anything and got nothing.

[00:03:03] [SPEAKER_03]: So I have a lot of questions, but we do have to talk about what we did see here on the zombie kickback.

[00:03:08] [SPEAKER_03]: Now we made it.

[00:03:10] [SPEAKER_03]: We speculated about this a little bit.

[00:03:12] [SPEAKER_03]: How long would it take?

[00:03:13] [SPEAKER_03]: But apparently not that long at all.

[00:03:14] [SPEAKER_03]: Carol and her new friend, Ash, have already made it to Paris with a stop in Greenland as well, Jess.

[00:03:22] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, we got to go to Greenland and I don't think that was Greenland.

[00:03:28] [SPEAKER_00]: You don't think it was Greenland?

[00:03:29] [SPEAKER_00]: It was Greenland.

[00:03:31] [SPEAKER_00]: But you know, the whole thing they say about Greenland.

[00:03:33] [SPEAKER_00]: Actually, it's apocryphal, but you know, they named it Greenland because they screwed up the naming on Iceland and nobody wanted to go to Iceland.

[00:03:40] [SPEAKER_00]: So they had to name it Greenland.

[00:03:42] [SPEAKER_00]: So to kind of entice people to go there.

[00:03:45] [SPEAKER_00]: It's apocryphal, but yeah, that it didn't look like Greenland to me.

[00:03:49] [SPEAKER_00]: And like those people were not Greenlandic.

[00:03:53] [SPEAKER_00]: They were visiting and they just got stuck there.

[00:03:56] [SPEAKER_00]: They were visiting scientists.

[00:03:57] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.

[00:03:57] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.

[00:03:57] [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, it's a good place to do science.

[00:04:00] [SPEAKER_00]: I've heard that.

[00:04:02] [SPEAKER_00]: But it was what I always want to happen is when they go to some new land that's relatively isolated and relatively far.

[00:04:12] [SPEAKER_00]: I want them to show up and like life there is relatively normal.

[00:04:17] [SPEAKER_00]: Like I want to just land in Greenland like they land in like Kangaroo Sack or Nuke or one of the big towns.

[00:04:23] [SPEAKER_00]: And like the town is totally normal.

[00:04:26] [SPEAKER_00]: Like there was no zombie apocalypse there.

[00:04:27] [SPEAKER_00]: This is what I want to have happen at some point.

[00:04:31] [SPEAKER_00]: But no, we just get we just get these two friends who were research scientists that got stuck there and then went a little nuts.

[00:04:41] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:04:42] [SPEAKER_03]: There's a moment, I think, when we see the scientists talking to Carol and they're talking about like, oh, yeah, like what brings you here?

[00:04:48] [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, we do science and this, that and others.

[00:04:50] [SPEAKER_03]: Like, oh, OK.

[00:04:50] [SPEAKER_03]: And then we start talking about like, hey, Mother Nature is going to get their revenge on us because we did this.

[00:04:55] [SPEAKER_03]: This is this is all happening.

[00:04:57] [SPEAKER_03]: And I was like, oh, OK, wow.

[00:04:59] [SPEAKER_03]: We're crazy.

[00:05:00] [SPEAKER_03]: We got to get out of here.

[00:05:01] [SPEAKER_03]: And that was my red flag.

[00:05:03] [SPEAKER_03]: That was the moment.

[00:05:03] [SPEAKER_03]: AJ, I knew these people were going to try to kill them.

[00:05:06] [SPEAKER_03]: I just didn't know why and how.

[00:05:09] [SPEAKER_03]: And I was a little surprised at what we found out.

[00:05:11] [SPEAKER_03]: I still don't know why, but yeah.

[00:05:13] [SPEAKER_02]: OK, so the plan was it is let's let's use our guns.

[00:05:24] [SPEAKER_02]: And shoot the zombies, shoot the zombies so that we can save these people so that we can kill these people.

[00:05:34] [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I realize they wanted to use ash as a sperm donor, but this is not a well thought out plan.

[00:05:43] [SPEAKER_02]: Not at all.

[00:05:45] [SPEAKER_00]: I feel like the play here and I don't know, maybe, you know, I'm not a scientist, but maybe the play here was to let the people land.

[00:05:57] [SPEAKER_00]: And after you save them and after you realize this is probably a virile man that can provide what I need to perpetuate the human race.

[00:06:07] [SPEAKER_00]: Maybe the play here is just to ask him nicely, see if he wants to.

[00:06:12] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.

[00:06:13] [SPEAKER_00]: They didn't even go to that well.

[00:06:15] [SPEAKER_00]: They didn't even they went straight to kill the lady and chain the man to a plane.

[00:06:21] [SPEAKER_00]: They didn't go to, hey, you want me to buy you a drink?

[00:06:26] [SPEAKER_00]: You want to go hang out?

[00:06:27] [SPEAKER_00]: You want to go Netflix and chill a little bit?

[00:06:29] [SPEAKER_00]: They didn't even try it.

[00:06:31] [SPEAKER_00]: They're just like, we're going to do what we want.

[00:06:34] [SPEAKER_00]: And also, why do they need to kill Carol?

[00:06:36] [SPEAKER_00]: Why don't they just ask, like, hey, is it cool if I go get what I need out of this guy and then you guys can be on your way?

[00:06:44] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that's my point, too.

[00:06:46] [SPEAKER_03]: They didn't they didn't ask.

[00:06:47] [SPEAKER_03]: And so, you know, I feel like even if the plan the plan is actually not awful.

[00:06:52] [SPEAKER_03]: If you're like if you're not going to stay with these people in this child.

[00:06:56] [SPEAKER_03]: Right.

[00:06:56] [SPEAKER_03]: Like, so if she comes to ask, she says before you go try to get pregnant, if there is anything you could do.

[00:07:02] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't know.

[00:07:03] [SPEAKER_03]: Maybe we can figure something out.

[00:07:04] [SPEAKER_03]: And I feel like it was like it.

[00:07:07] [SPEAKER_03]: I just can't.

[00:07:08] [SPEAKER_03]: So, yeah, just just go.

[00:07:09] [SPEAKER_03]: I promise you're good.

[00:07:10] [SPEAKER_03]: But I think they're kind of like ask you have to you have to stay here and procreate with us all the time.

[00:07:15] [SPEAKER_03]: Like we're about to start milking you like a cow.

[00:07:17] [SPEAKER_03]: And so I think they really were like, all right, Carol's not going to go for that.

[00:07:21] [SPEAKER_03]: She's not going to allow us to take her friend and to start breeding them up, you know?

[00:07:25] [SPEAKER_03]: So I think that maybe that's why they could have just soft sell it, AJ.

[00:07:30] [SPEAKER_02]: Well, but there's two different things here.

[00:07:31] [SPEAKER_02]: First of all, the plan was to take Ash back to the plane, you know, outdoors where the zombies are and and keep Carol and get her drunk.

[00:07:46] [SPEAKER_02]: Like, wouldn't it make sense to try to get him drunk, maybe?

[00:07:50] [SPEAKER_02]: And have your way with them.

[00:07:53] [SPEAKER_02]: Also, is it right they did a coin flip to decide which one of us gets to be the murderer and which one gets to be the rapist?

[00:07:59] [SPEAKER_02]: Is that basically what happened here?

[00:08:02] Yes.

[00:08:03] [SPEAKER_03]: Well, that's the thing.

[00:08:05] [SPEAKER_03]: It's not even really an either or.

[00:08:06] [SPEAKER_03]: It's like they did a coin flip to see who would go be the murderer because they both plan on getting pregnant.

[00:08:11] [SPEAKER_03]: She said me first, then, you know, Ian first because she won the coin toss, then me.

[00:08:17] [SPEAKER_03]: Like, he's going to get them both pregnant at what point?

[00:08:19] [SPEAKER_03]: It just depends on who's going to be the one to lose and pull the short straw and have to murder Carol.

[00:08:25] [SPEAKER_03]: Apparently, they didn't even have to flip a coin.

[00:08:27] [SPEAKER_03]: Ian seemed like she was fine doing it regardless.

[00:08:29] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:08:31] [SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.

[00:08:32] [SPEAKER_02]: Well, I know.

[00:08:33] [SPEAKER_00]: Which would you rather do?

[00:08:36] [SPEAKER_00]: Would you rather be the murderer?

[00:08:39] [SPEAKER_00]: Or the rapist?

[00:08:41] [SPEAKER_00]: Well, to be fair, it might not be like they might be able to talk him into it.

[00:08:46] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know how coercive it is.

[00:08:49] [SPEAKER_00]: Like, I guess at the point at which you're murdering his friend, it does become a little coercive.

[00:08:56] [SPEAKER_02]: It's the ultimate game of ding, marry, kill, isn't it?

[00:08:58] [SPEAKER_02]: They're married.

[00:09:00] [SPEAKER_02]: They want to kill Carol.

[00:09:01] [SPEAKER_02]: They got to ding the other one.

[00:09:03] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:09:03] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:09:06] [SPEAKER_03]: I feel like they found the right person for this.

[00:09:12] [SPEAKER_03]: He hopped in a plane with Carol after she tried to basically steal his...

[00:09:18] [SPEAKER_03]: She's in his stuff, spying on his stuff.

[00:09:20] [SPEAKER_03]: She ruins his shrine to his son, lets all the zombies in.

[00:09:24] [SPEAKER_03]: And he's still like, yeah, I think I'm just going to...

[00:09:26] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, we can go.

[00:09:27] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, we can go to France.

[00:09:28] [SPEAKER_03]: Let's do that.

[00:09:28] [SPEAKER_03]: You know?

[00:09:29] [SPEAKER_03]: So this man is dying for somebody to hang out with him.

[00:09:32] [SPEAKER_03]: The problem is, you know, he's on a mission.

[00:09:34] [SPEAKER_03]: He wants to help Carol with her thing, which is probably a really...

[00:09:38] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, Carol kind of messed that up.

[00:09:40] [SPEAKER_03]: But the other part of this is that, you know, if...

[00:09:43] [SPEAKER_03]: They're going to have to get Carol on board with it, and she's not going to be okay.

[00:09:46] [SPEAKER_03]: So I think that they lost it at the very beginning.

[00:09:49] [SPEAKER_03]: It was never going to happen.

[00:09:50] [SPEAKER_03]: But I feel like if you were looking for a person, it's definitely Ash.

[00:09:54] [SPEAKER_03]: Because when Carol and Ash finally land in France, she's like, all right, I'm about to go by.

[00:09:59] [SPEAKER_03]: And he's thinking, no, we're a team now.

[00:10:01] [SPEAKER_03]: You know?

[00:10:01] [SPEAKER_03]: Like, it's the two of us against the world in France.

[00:10:04] [SPEAKER_03]: Viva la France.

[00:10:04] [SPEAKER_03]: And she's like, ugh, could you just, like, die so I can take your plane?

[00:10:09] [SPEAKER_03]: You know?

[00:10:09] [SPEAKER_03]: So she's not really having it.

[00:10:12] [SPEAKER_03]: Are you surprised, AJ, that we got to France in the first episode after taking off?

[00:10:18] [SPEAKER_02]: I am surprised only because I thought we were...

[00:10:21] [SPEAKER_02]: Once they landed in Greenland, I thought, oh, well, we're going to have a story.

[00:10:24] [SPEAKER_02]: The story arc here for the episode.

[00:10:26] [SPEAKER_02]: And then, you know, maybe at the very end, they'll take off and go.

[00:10:29] [SPEAKER_02]: So I was surprised we got there that quickly.

[00:10:31] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm surprised that plane made it.

[00:10:34] [SPEAKER_02]: Quite frankly.

[00:10:36] [SPEAKER_02]: And I was just surprised that really...

[00:10:40] [SPEAKER_02]: Surprised that the characters were.

[00:10:41] [SPEAKER_02]: Because the characters themselves were just like, oh, we're here.

[00:10:43] [SPEAKER_02]: Holy crap.

[00:10:44] [SPEAKER_02]: They were.

[00:10:46] [SPEAKER_02]: But I'm not surprised that Carol tried to run off on her own.

[00:10:50] [SPEAKER_02]: And, you know, she had...

[00:10:51] [SPEAKER_02]: Again, she had that moment where she was just like...

[00:10:55] [SPEAKER_02]: And, you know, maybe you'll find her.

[00:10:59] [SPEAKER_02]: And she's like, oh, crap.

[00:11:02] [SPEAKER_02]: But she holds it in and takes off knowing no French.

[00:11:43] [SPEAKER_03]: You know, I always was under the impression that this was now a team effort.

[00:11:48] [SPEAKER_03]: But Jess, she wanted him to leave her alone so she didn't have to perpetuate this lie.

[00:11:53] [SPEAKER_00]: And he went along with it really fast.

[00:11:56] [SPEAKER_00]: He's like, oh, no, no, I better come with you.

[00:11:59] [SPEAKER_00]: I need to protect you.

[00:12:01] [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, okay, I'll stay.

[00:12:09] [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, she already told him she killed a whole lot of people.

[00:12:37] [SPEAKER_03]: I thought that was interesting, even for The Walking Dead.

[00:12:40] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, well, did you see Chekhov's flare gun at the beginning?

[00:12:43] [SPEAKER_00]: Like, the flare gun falls out of his pants.

[00:12:45] [SPEAKER_00]: And he just leaves it on the floor in the cockpit.

[00:12:48] [SPEAKER_00]: And then it comes back later.

[00:12:52] [SPEAKER_00]: Now I'm going to have to watch every episode twice now, and it's really upsetting that I

[00:13:10] [SPEAKER_00]: I liked that they did that.

[00:13:12] [SPEAKER_03]: AJ, have we ever seen anybody murder a zombie with a flare gun to this point in The Walking

[00:38:10] [SPEAKER_03]: But the show is not the same when we don't have Carol.

[00:38:13] [SPEAKER_03]: And so seeing her at her best in this episode was very fun.

[00:38:16] [SPEAKER_03]: But we do have to start to speculate about what is next for these characters.

[00:38:20] [SPEAKER_03]: They're all in Paris.

[00:38:21] [SPEAKER_03]: They have not linked up.

[00:38:22] [SPEAKER_03]: We're waiting on them to reunite.

[00:38:24] [SPEAKER_03]: I thought it was going to take a lot longer.

[00:38:26] [SPEAKER_03]: But Jess, I could definitely see this happening in the third episode.

[00:38:29] [SPEAKER_03]: Carol and Daryl are going to link back up very quickly.

[00:38:31] [SPEAKER_00]: Well, no, not necessarily, because we still have to get to Normandy because they're not in like they're not in Paris.

[00:38:39] [SPEAKER_00]: They're still at Mont Saint-Michel, which, you know, we spent the entirety of last season getting from Paris to there.

[00:38:47] [SPEAKER_00]: So it takes some time to get there.

[00:38:49] [SPEAKER_00]: It's really going to depend on like how do we get them all into the same place at the same time?

[00:38:55] [SPEAKER_00]: And I assume that we're probably going to want to get Daryl and Laurent and Isabel, probably Sylvia as well,

[00:39:02] [SPEAKER_00]: but get them out of that situation pretty quickly before Laurent gets sacrificed to the zombie gods.

[00:39:10] [SPEAKER_00]: And at that point, I think we've got to I'm excited to figure out how they all get together in the same place,
