[00:01:24] [SPEAKER_01]: And we have a lot to talk about. We just watched the episode. I know you all just watched the episode and hopefully you came here to commiserate because I was, I don't know.

[00:01:35] [SPEAKER_01]: Like, I saw what happened, but I really, I think we have to really start talking about, you know, the big story here is that we have finally reached the mark where The Walking Dead said, okay, we're going to give you the Daryl Carroll showmance, romance, love story.

[00:01:54] [SPEAKER_01]: Is that, Jess?

[00:01:57] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, is that what they're doing? Is that what's going on here? Because I'm not sure I buy it.

[00:02:04] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, there's a ton of reasons not to buy it.

[00:02:08] [SPEAKER_01]: But in this episode, we do see that Daryl and Carroll, they reconnect as we, you know, assume that they would.

[00:02:15] [SPEAKER_01]: But we also lost our nun friend as well.

[00:02:19] [SPEAKER_01]: And so Isabelle is gone, leaving Daryl heartbroken and looking for somebody to potentially fill this void of love that he had in his heart or help him at least raise his stepchild.

[00:02:28] [SPEAKER_01]: AJ, Daryl and Carroll is a thing.

[00:02:31] [SPEAKER_03]: I mean, you know, it's almost what the writers are like, well, no one will ever buy that these two will actually get into a romance with this obstacle in the way.

[00:02:41] [SPEAKER_03]: Let's remove the obstacle right now and then spend the next 20 minutes having her pretend to be his love interest.

[00:02:49] [SPEAKER_03]: Just to wear it on for size.

[00:02:51] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[00:02:52] [SPEAKER_01]: You called it De Pessant.

[00:02:55] [SPEAKER_01]: Has you a place that makes you see things differently.

[00:02:59] [SPEAKER_01]: Jess, have we just been waiting on Daryl and Carroll to link up in France specifically before they start looking at each other and saying, hmm, I don't know, this might work.

[00:03:16] [SPEAKER_04]: And also, I want to call attention to the fact that the first thing Carroll does to guilt trip Daryl into wanting to come back to Ohio is he drops Connie's name.

[00:03:30] [SPEAKER_04]: So are they really going to get together if Carroll is still shipping Daryl and Connie?

[00:03:35] [SPEAKER_04]: Like, hey, you had this other girlfriend.

[00:03:36] [SPEAKER_04]: I know the one you just had just kicked it.

[00:03:39] [SPEAKER_04]: But, you know, you got one back in Ohio too.

[00:03:42] [SPEAKER_04]: I'm almost speechless that we really are doing this with Daryl and Carroll.

[00:03:46] [SPEAKER_01]: And I put in my notes while I was watching the episode like, we're really not going to do the Daryl-Carroll relationship.

[00:03:51] [SPEAKER_01]: That's not going to be a thing.

[00:03:53] [SPEAKER_01]: But between Daryl impressing Carroll with his French, also them being in a location, him bonding over this idea like, yeah, I got to bring, you know, I got to bring Laurent back, Carroll.

[00:04:05] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, we have to bring him back.

[00:04:08] [SPEAKER_01]: Like, it feels like all of a sudden, out of the blue, they just decided, you know, like, I don't know if y'all are going to consider this, but Daryl and Carroll could be a thing.

[00:04:15] [SPEAKER_01]: And I just don't understand why they're playing in our face, AJ.

[00:04:18] [SPEAKER_01]: That's all.

[00:04:18] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm just confused as to why they decided to do this.

[00:04:27] [SPEAKER_01]: We've gone through three spinoffs and have not explored this, but in The Walking Dead, Daryl Dixon, season two, The Book of Carroll, we have to realistically talk about in-game relationship, Daryl and Carroll.

[00:04:42] [SPEAKER_03]: Hmm.

[00:04:43] [SPEAKER_03]: Interesting.

[00:04:43] [SPEAKER_03]: And how long did you know her?

[00:05:02] [SPEAKER_01]: Uh, we, we meet this couple, Dede and Theo, and they're pointing out, like, oh, this chemistry between you and this lady, you know, it's, y'all are like a married couple.

[00:05:12] [SPEAKER_01]: It's like y'all are in a relationship.

[00:05:14] [SPEAKER_01]: Jess, they're beating us over the head with it now.

[00:05:16] [SPEAKER_01]: Are we supposed to be all in on the Daryl and Carroll ship?

[00:05:22] [SPEAKER_04]: They can't.

[00:05:23] [SPEAKER_04]: Like, I, I, I feel like I'm so, I've spent 15 years, like, understanding the Daryl Carroll dynamic as this sort of, like, they could have probably done something at some point, but then they got past a point where that was plausible and they know each other too well now, so it would feel like incest.

[00:05:45] [SPEAKER_04]: And that's kind of where I'm at.

[00:05:46] [SPEAKER_04]: And then, like, no, you can't get together like that because you two are too close now to get together in this other way.

[00:05:54] [SPEAKER_03]: And last episode, she's lying and saying, no, he's my brother.

[00:05:58] [SPEAKER_03]: And they spend this episode like, yes, she's sister.

[00:06:01] [SPEAKER_03]: So they're really laying in on that incestuous vibes kind of going on there and what they're playing.

[00:06:06] [SPEAKER_04]: It's going to go full Star Wars.

[00:06:07] [SPEAKER_04]: It's going to go full Rannister.

[00:06:09] [SPEAKER_03]: Yep.

[00:06:10] [SPEAKER_03]: I just.

[00:06:11] [SPEAKER_03]: Well, if it means they're going to dump the kid out the window to his death, then I'm all for it.

[00:06:17] [SPEAKER_01]: But Daryl is at the point where Laurent is all he has.

[00:06:34] [SPEAKER_01]: Let's leave her child here with Daryl and then leave him saying, huh, if only I had a partner to help me raise this child.

[00:06:47] [SPEAKER_01]: I feel like they're making us believe in this relationship that it just doesn't feel earned, y'all.

[00:06:56] [SPEAKER_01]: Like years ago, like Jess said, there was a time where there were the Daryl Carroll shippers.

[00:07:31] [SPEAKER_01]: But between these two characters who have the most immaculate plot armor, okay?

[00:07:41] [SPEAKER_01]: This is the endgame couple that we're going to get.

[00:07:44] [SPEAKER_01]: The Daryl and Carroll movie is probably coming soon.

[00:07:46] [SPEAKER_01]: There's nothing we can do about it.

[00:07:47] [SPEAKER_01]: And it will be a rom-com, AJ.

[00:07:50] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, they'll be going from country to country, collecting children as they go, becoming the most romantic couple,

[00:07:59] [SPEAKER_03]: and going one at a time, killing zombies and people with guns,

[00:08:06] [SPEAKER_03]: and pulling out darts from their bodies before the explosive effects can kick in.

[00:08:10] [SPEAKER_03]: And it's just absolutely preposterous how much plot armor these two have.

[00:08:17] [SPEAKER_03]: And all the time I'm going, they have time for this.

[00:08:20] [SPEAKER_03]: They have time for this.

[00:08:22] [SPEAKER_03]: There are rage zombies storming through the hallways,

[00:08:26] [SPEAKER_03]: but not in the hallway when she encounters Daryl's love and goes to tend to her wounds.

[00:08:33] [SPEAKER_03]: Suddenly, no one comes around.

[00:08:35] [SPEAKER_03]: It's like, come on.

[00:08:36] [SPEAKER_03]: At least make it a little realistic for me.

[00:08:38] [SPEAKER_01]: No, no.

[00:08:39] [SPEAKER_01]: We're past that.

[00:08:40] [SPEAKER_01]: We're at the point of just, this is complete fan fiction.

[00:08:43] [SPEAKER_01]: And I guess somewhere the Daryl Carroll hive is, they're going up,

[00:08:47] [SPEAKER_01]: but they don't know this is happening.

[00:08:48] [SPEAKER_01]: Like, they're going to read about this tomorrow morning and be like, what?

[00:08:53] [SPEAKER_01]: Maybe this is some big ploy to get them to come back to the show.

[00:08:55] [SPEAKER_01]: Because the moment in the episode where I legit rolled my eyes at the idea of all of this

[00:09:00] [SPEAKER_01]: was when Carroll said, yeah, when I was younger, I used to always want to travel.

[00:09:04] [SPEAKER_01]: And Daryl says, haven't we traveled?

[00:09:05] [SPEAKER_01]: I said, oh, sure.

[00:09:07] [SPEAKER_01]: Y'all have traveled.

[00:09:08] [SPEAKER_01]: Daryl, that's not the same thing.

[00:09:10] [SPEAKER_01]: You know it.

[00:09:11] [SPEAKER_01]: Why are y'all making us believe this?

[00:09:12] [SPEAKER_01]: They're force feeding this to me, Jess.

[00:09:13] [SPEAKER_01]: And I don't like it.

[00:09:14] [SPEAKER_04]: Getting Shanghai'd onto a ship and dropped off in France is not going on vacation.

[00:09:41] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, like if I had not sat through all of the years of the Daryl Carroll and all the

[00:09:46] [SPEAKER_01]: other iterations of this show, I would have fallen for, you know, say basically like, yeah,

[00:09:53] [SPEAKER_01]: I just, I had a vibe that you were over here.

[00:09:54] [SPEAKER_01]: So I just came and Daryl been like, oh yeah, really?

[00:09:57] [SPEAKER_01]: You just, you just felt it.

[00:09:58] [SPEAKER_01]: I just felt the need to come after you.

[00:10:25] [SPEAKER_04]: Again, I think it's like this, like they are so close to each other.

[00:10:51] [SPEAKER_01]: It's very much like longing glances at each other, not catching each other's eyes.

[00:10:56] [SPEAKER_01]: Daryl's ex, as just pointed out, it's just like the body isn't even cold.

[00:11:01] [SPEAKER_01]: She hasn't even turned yet.

[00:11:03] [SPEAKER_01]: Well, I don't know if she will get a chance to because, you know, people's heads just be

[00:11:07] [SPEAKER_01]: exploding in this thing.

[00:11:09] [SPEAKER_01]: She's dead.

[00:11:10] [SPEAKER_01]: She's big dead.

[00:11:10] [SPEAKER_01]: She's never coming back.

[00:11:12] [SPEAKER_01]: This is really bad.

[00:11:13] [SPEAKER_01]: We have moved on so quickly from Isabel and Daryl's makeshift like family that he was

[00:11:17] [SPEAKER_01]: going to have.

[00:11:18] [SPEAKER_01]: So now he's a single dad.

[00:11:19] [SPEAKER_01]: He's taking care of Laurent if they can find him.

[00:11:22] [SPEAKER_01]: And he's looking for a stepmom for his kids.

[00:11:25] [SPEAKER_01]: I did not expect this to be the way the Daryl story ended, but here we are.

[00:11:30] [SPEAKER_01]: I really want to talk about how we got here, though.

[00:11:33] [SPEAKER_01]: We last left our heroes, specifically Carol, facing down the barrel of a shoot, like a firing

[00:11:40] [SPEAKER_01]: squad amongst a crowd of people who, you know, we assume Carol's somehow going to survive

[00:11:47] [SPEAKER_01]: this, but not since the dumpster.

[00:11:50] [SPEAKER_01]: Have I seen something like this?

[00:11:53] [SPEAKER_01]: I was going to say.

[00:11:55] [SPEAKER_01]: They shot everybody.

[00:11:57] [SPEAKER_01]: Ka-ka-ka-ka-ka-ka-ka-ka-ka-ka.

[00:11:59] [SPEAKER_01]: And somehow missed Carol.

[00:12:01] [SPEAKER_01]: She fell behind a pile of dead bodies.

[00:12:05] [SPEAKER_01]: And then as they turned, she just made a run for her.

[00:12:11] [SPEAKER_04]: Glenn is like, this is totally unbelievable.

[00:12:15] [SPEAKER_04]: Glenn crawled out from under the dumpster to be like, nah, this is not how this works.

[00:12:20] [SPEAKER_03]: I mean, I'm willing to give her the benefit of the doubt that she was standing in line

[00:12:25] [SPEAKER_03]: with a bunch of true believers who wanted to get shot.

[00:12:28] [SPEAKER_03]: So maybe she doesn't get hit with the initial wave.

[00:12:30] [SPEAKER_03]: She can take the step back.

[00:12:32] [SPEAKER_03]: I will give you that much based on what they showed us.

[00:12:35] [SPEAKER_03]: But like these bullets, what do they hit people and they're just a stop?

[00:12:39] [SPEAKER_03]: I mean, even, you know, it was machine gun fire.

[00:12:41] [SPEAKER_03]: One of them's going to stray, hit her and at least wound her.

[00:12:44] [SPEAKER_03]: But no, on top of that, they then come in and deliver the serum injections.

[00:12:51] [SPEAKER_03]: And she gets hit with it.

[00:12:53] [SPEAKER_03]: And yet there's still enough time for her to slowly, imperceptibly move her hand to pull it out

[00:13:00] [SPEAKER_03]: so that she's not going to be impacted by this serum.

[00:13:03] [SPEAKER_03]: I mean, come on, people.

[00:13:07] [SPEAKER_01]: Y'all, I have nothing.

[00:13:08] [SPEAKER_01]: I have nothing.

[00:13:09] [SPEAKER_01]: We watched Carol just basically just magic her way through some bullets.

[00:13:13] [SPEAKER_01]: It wasn't like somebody came with a pistol.

[00:13:16] [SPEAKER_01]: It was like a machine gun.

[00:13:17] [SPEAKER_01]: Like, it was just an assault rifle.

[00:13:19] [SPEAKER_01]: Just cock, cock, cock, cock, cock, cock, cock, cock, cock, cock, cock.

[00:13:21] [SPEAKER_01]: And everybody's going down magically.

[00:13:24] [SPEAKER_01]: Carol is safe.

[00:13:26] [SPEAKER_01]: She lays there.

[00:13:28] [SPEAKER_01]: The other bodies are turning.

[00:13:30] [SPEAKER_01]: They are all being injected.

[00:13:31] [SPEAKER_01]: As AJ says, she pulls out the dart, narrowly escaping the effects of that, I guess,

[00:13:37] [SPEAKER_01]: the whole time I was thinking.

[00:13:38] [SPEAKER_01]: So when is she going to, you know, when is it going to get her?

[00:13:42] [SPEAKER_01]: But it never did.

[00:13:43] [SPEAKER_01]: She just took off running.

[00:13:46] [SPEAKER_01]: And that's it.

[00:13:47] [SPEAKER_01]: That's it.

[00:13:48] [SPEAKER_01]: That's how Carol survived the shooting squad.

[00:13:50] [SPEAKER_01]: That is crazy, crazy, crazy, crazy.

[00:13:53] [SPEAKER_04]: Could she have dropped to the ground because she knew they were going to shoot?

[00:13:58] [SPEAKER_04]: Like, when they started shooting, she's like not in the front row.

[00:14:01] [SPEAKER_04]: Can she drop to the ground and that's how she didn't get shot?

[00:14:04] [SPEAKER_01]: Right.

[00:14:04] [SPEAKER_01]: Or like grab somebody and like pull them down over her, you know, as like literal armor

[00:14:10] [SPEAKER_01]: as opposed to just like Glenn did with Nicholas.

[00:14:13] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, exactly.

[00:14:14] [SPEAKER_01]: It's just except instead they just decided by chance the bullet.

[00:14:19] [SPEAKER_01]: I was like, they could have shot.

[00:14:20] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm sorry.

[00:14:21] [SPEAKER_01]: I just don't understand how they missed her.

[00:14:24] [SPEAKER_03]: There's no way they missed her.

[00:14:25] [SPEAKER_03]: And on top of it, like they were so nonchalant about not checking.

[00:14:29] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:14:29] [SPEAKER_03]: I mean, it's just like they shoot these darts into them so that they can get the Ethereum

[00:14:33] [SPEAKER_03]: to turn into the rage zombies.

[00:14:36] [SPEAKER_03]: And like they don't double check.

[00:14:38] [SPEAKER_03]: And even when she does get up at that point after they start turning, like, okay, so they're

[00:14:43] [SPEAKER_03]: going to move after the first live person they see and they've got Kodron, you know,

[00:14:47] [SPEAKER_03]: up there as the victim.

[00:14:49] [SPEAKER_03]: But no, she's able to run and get onto the cart and drive him away.

[00:14:53] [SPEAKER_03]: And then they suddenly go, oh, wait, she's she's getting away.

[00:14:58] [SPEAKER_04]: Like, at what point did they realize she wasn't a fast zombie?

[00:15:02] [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, fast zombies don't drive.

[00:15:05] [SPEAKER_01]: Also, why is it running in the opposite direction of all the food?

[00:15:08] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't understand.

[00:15:09] [SPEAKER_03]: And Carol's so great that she could she could actually ESP their plan.

[00:15:13] [SPEAKER_03]: She's like, so she leaves all the zombies into the fortress, but stops just long enough

[00:15:19] [SPEAKER_03]: for the missile to blow open the gate and then she can drive again.

[00:15:22] [SPEAKER_03]: How was she going to get through the gate, AJ?

[00:15:24] [SPEAKER_03]: Duh.

[00:15:25] [SPEAKER_01]: She needed some water.

[00:15:26] [SPEAKER_03]: Sure.

[00:15:27] [SPEAKER_03]: Sure.

[00:15:28] [SPEAKER_03]: And like you said, plot armor, like when all the people inside start shooting, they,

[00:16:08] [SPEAKER_01]: And as AJ said, there was a high speed chase because these zombies are very fast now.

[00:16:12] [SPEAKER_01]: So we have the fast zombies and we have the Janae and her troops all chasing after Carol.

[00:16:20] [SPEAKER_01]: They can't get in because the door is blocked, but they wait just long enough to blast a hole

[00:16:26] [SPEAKER_01]: And so Carol can then escape inside.

[00:16:30] [SPEAKER_01]: I talked about the Daryl video game being a must have, but the Carol video game.

[00:16:36] [SPEAKER_01]: The Daryl Carol video game slash love story is all coming together because these two people

[00:16:42] [SPEAKER_01]: And it doesn't make any sense for them to be able to navigate this show in a zombie apocalypse
