[00:00:17] Welcome back to Recap Kickback Presents The Zombie Kickback as we talk about The Walking Dead Daryl Dixon Season 2 The Book of Carol Finale Episode 6. It's me your host Chappelle and with me again to talk all things oh god no not that. With me to talk about The Walking Dead Daryl Dixon Season 2 The Book of Carol per usual it's just with a guitar.
[00:00:48] You can't always get what you want.
[00:00:54] I didn't tune it so you know I still it's still more in tune than Daryl's guitar.
[00:01:00] Which he found.
[00:01:01] Yeah, by the way.
[00:01:05] I don't know how much I don't know how much he could do to fix the strings if he's not even going to take the cable off.
[00:01:10] I'm just saying.
[00:01:14] And Jess has decided to join us with her Laurent style musical performance.
[00:01:18] Yeah, I'm also better than Laurent at the guitar skilling.
[00:01:22] Also, you know, Perjan only knew two guitar chords so.
[00:01:27] That's about as many as I do.
[00:01:29] Shout out to the Rolling Stones for that musical interlude as well.
[00:01:32] AJ, you're here too.
[00:01:35] Oh, are you headed through the channel of the season three?
[00:01:39] I guess so.
[00:01:41] Yeah.
[00:01:42] I guess so.
[00:01:43] Wait.
[00:01:44] Who turned out the lights?
[00:01:47] It's all right, fine.
[00:01:49] I will go with you.
[00:01:50] I won't pull off the Lou.
[00:01:52] Like, no, please just just let me stay here.
[00:01:55] I'm not going to be in next season, please.
[00:01:56] He was really grasping at excuses at the end there.
[00:01:59] He's like, I'm going to stay here and be with this person that I met yesterday.
[00:02:03] Yeah. Let's introduce a character just to write him off the show.
[00:02:06] Come on, people do better.
[00:02:09] Yeah. You see, he's going to find out tomorrow that their astrological signs are incompatible.
[00:02:13] And then what's he going to do?
[00:02:15] It's like I should have gone in the tunnel.
[00:02:17] Right now.
[00:02:18] Oh, there's still hope.
[00:02:20] So if you're listening to this, you know, we've now seen the finale of season two of The Walking Dead.
[00:02:25] Daryl Dixon.
[00:02:27] And we know that there's going to be a season three because the Walking Dead.
[00:02:30] Right. When does this show ever end?
[00:02:32] And apparently season three will be taking place in Europe.
[00:02:35] I think a lot of people had already speculated that it would.
[00:02:37] But we had some questions throughout the season about who all was getting on the plane.
[00:02:41] We got some answers.
[00:02:42] And then I guess we had a lot more questions as well after watching this.
[00:02:45] So thank you, everybody for listening.
[00:02:46] Obviously, if you're checking us out on YouTube, youtube.com slash at recap kickback for our The Walking Dead playlist.
[00:02:52] We might have more Walking Dead to come here on The Kickback.

[00:02:56] Click that like button on our video and tune in.
[00:02:59] You never know what you might see.
[00:03:00] You might see AJ with a cat.
[00:03:01] I saw a few of the comments, AJ.
[00:03:03] People said I listened to this audio, but I came here to the video just to see the cat.
[00:03:07] Nice. Excellent.
[00:03:08] Well, I'm not going to let Jinx get her head too big.
[00:03:11] So I'm in the garage today.
[00:03:12] She will not come out here, but maybe maybe a cricket will pop by.
[00:03:16] You never know.
[00:03:17] You never know.
[00:03:18] Do you have raccoons out there?
[00:03:19] You could get some of those.
[00:03:21] Anything's possible.
[00:03:22] I could have some bioluminescent creature coming up from the depths of unrecognition.
[00:03:29] Are there bats in your garage?
[00:03:31] Are there bats in your garage?
[00:03:33] I do.
[00:03:33] That's a big question.
[00:03:35] Oh, who's that over there?
[00:03:36] Who's that over there?
[00:03:38] You're trying to kill me.
[00:03:39] You're trying to kill me.
[00:03:41] No, no, no, no bats.
[00:03:43] No bats.
[00:03:43] I'm sorry.
[00:03:44] That was just me realizing I had to watch this show.
[00:03:47] Yeah, I have a lot of questions.
[00:03:50] Oh, yeah, really?
[00:03:51] Yeah.
[00:03:51] Number one is how dare they?
[00:03:53] Exactly.
[00:03:54] Where did they get the audacity, the giant brass balls to give us that and call it television?
[00:04:00] Yeah.
[00:04:01] So let's just get ahead of everything.
[00:04:03] We do get our finale here.
[00:04:05] Daryl and Carol are staying in Europe.
[00:04:07] They're going to stay.
[00:04:08] They sent Laurent and Ash on to the Americas.
[00:04:10] Sent.
[00:04:11] Wait, wait, wait.
[00:04:12] Sent.
[00:04:13] I mean, they literally sent Laurent.
[00:04:15] They tried to pull a gift of the magi kind of storyline where it's like, I will sacrifice
[00:04:22] my seat on the plane for you.
[00:04:24] Like, well, but I've already sacrificed my seat on the plane for you.
[00:04:27] Oh, silly us.
[00:04:28] Here we are both on the ground.
[00:04:29] And somehow we wrote them off the show as we sent the plane off into the distance with
[00:04:36] the worst shots around, you know, so Daryl can shoot, you know, an ant off of a mountain.
[00:04:44] But these actual soldiers miss a plane.
[00:04:47] Stormtroopers.
[00:04:48] Yeah.
[00:04:49] They're just there.
[00:04:50] Yeah.
[00:04:51] But yes, Laurent is gone.
[00:04:52] Ash is gone.
[00:04:53] They've gone to the Americas and Daryl and Carol are left alone to try to find their way to.
[00:05:00] Are they going to London?
[00:05:01] Is that what they what they landed on, Jess?
[00:05:03] Yeah, they're going.
[00:05:04] They're going to London, I guess.
[00:05:06] Mm hmm.
[00:05:06] The tunnel.
[00:05:07] And so, yeah, they're hoofing it.
[00:05:09] And that's that's the episode.
[00:05:11] You know, we do find out that Jacinta takes over the mantle as we expected as, you know,
[00:05:18] the new cult leader here doesn't quite work out for her.
[00:05:21] We get a couple deaths.
[00:05:22] But I think with some of the people that survived this episode, I'd be questioning if anybody
[00:05:26] is written off the show.
[00:05:27] AJ, I know you said Laurent and and Ash are written off, but they're headed to the Commonwealth.
[00:05:33] You know, there's a non zero chance that we run into these two characters again back
[00:05:36] with Judith teaching her how to use a katana, you know, that kind of thing.
[00:05:40] Sure, sure.
[00:05:41] Look, and there's always the possibility that, you know, we see them in London waiting for
[00:05:45] us to decide, oh, they did shoot our plane.
[00:05:48] And here we are.
[00:05:48] We did to go to emergency land.
[00:05:50] It like anything is possible.
[00:05:51] But if we are to believe that they flew away safely, we won't see them until Daryl and
[00:05:57] Carol get back to America.
[00:05:59] And that could be an entire season.
[00:06:02] So, yeah, I'm thinking it will be at least one season.
[00:06:05] We got it because we got to spend one more season while they develop the showmance that
[00:06:10] nobody really wants to talk about.
[00:06:12] It says, oh, it's just in this episode.
[00:06:14] We see that Falou falls in love at first sight with Akilah and he decides I'm staying.
[00:06:20] I'm staying.
[00:06:21] No, it's good.
[00:06:21] This is a romantic place.
[00:06:22] They keep telling us how romantic this area is.
[00:06:25] And now we are left with Daryl and Carol just hanging out.
[00:06:29] No kids around for the first time.
[00:06:31] It's just the two of them.
[00:06:32] Is this book of three is book three of Daryl Dixon story.
[00:06:37] The book of Carol part.
[00:06:38] Duh.
[00:06:38] Is that going to be the love story that we've all been waiting for?
[00:06:44] I mean, they're they're on the road trip now.
[00:06:46] It's just the two of them taking a little romantic getaway together, but they're going
[00:06:50] away from the country of love.
[00:06:52] Yes.
[00:06:52] They're going to London.
[00:06:54] Yeah.
[00:06:54] So who knows what could happen to them then?
[00:06:57] I think the show might have the show will either decide that they're finally going to
[00:07:02] get together or the show is going to decide that they need to walk it back in a big way
[00:07:07] based on the feedback of critics and podcasters and other commentators.
[00:07:11] I feel like they're going to listen to us and they're going to walk it back and they're
[00:07:14] going to pretend it never happened.
[00:07:15] Yeah.
[00:07:16] Are you pretty tapped in?
[00:07:17] Have you been seeing if anybody else had any, uh, like, you know, uh, real big reactions
[00:07:22] to, you know, what we saw as them potentially hinting at a show mass between the two of them.
[00:07:27] So are you asking to be clear, Chappelle, are you asking me, did I spend one more minute
[00:07:32] than I had to thinking about the show?
[00:07:34] Yes.
[00:07:35] I'm asking if you did the research, cause I know that you are the research type.
[00:07:39] I am the research type.
[00:07:41] What I care.
[00:07:46] That's it.
[00:07:47] I can, I can find out for you right now.
[00:07:49] I will, we will, I will get back to you in just a minute.
[00:07:54] Okay.
[00:07:54] I know what people said about this.
[00:07:56] There was one article that I did see from Collider that said the walking deads, Daryl
[00:08:00] and Carol shouldn't become a couple there.
[00:08:02] I said it by Haley Gilmore.
[00:08:04] Shout out to Haley Gilmore.
[00:08:05] That's such a hot take, man.
[00:08:07] Well, you, you wouldn't think you have to say it this far into the apocalypse, Jess,
[00:08:12] but here we are talking about a relationship that we all thought was a sibling relationship
[00:08:16] at best.
[00:08:18] And now we're really speculating.
[00:08:19] Is this going to be a thing?
[00:08:23] It can't be a thing.
[00:08:24] It's it.
[00:08:25] It shouldn't be a thing, but you know, if they're, you know, maybe, maybe high on guano fumes.
[00:08:32] Yeah.
[00:08:32] The hallucinations, they forget who they are and who they're supposed to be to each other.
[00:08:36] And, you know, like, I just, I just don't understand.
[00:08:42] I don't understand why we wrapped up the season basically 20 minutes in and then had 40 minutes
[00:08:48] of a storyline that literally went nowhere.
[00:08:52] Literally went nowhere.
[00:08:53] They, they, they, they walked back themselves as going past the checkpoint and having to run
[00:08:57] back.
[00:08:58] Daryl saw these gas masks sitting on the ground.
[00:09:02] They kicked the guanos and oh, that creates fumes that could cause you to hallucinate.
[00:09:07] And they don't pick up the gas mask then there to avoid hallucinating.
[00:09:11] They walk a little bit further until everybody's hallucinating.
[00:09:14] The Scottish couple goes nuts and he's forced to kill them.
[00:09:17] You know, the couple that we met for like all of two seconds.
[00:09:20] Cadrone ran off.
[00:09:21] Maybe Cadrone is still alive because he just, he might be alive.
[00:09:23] Yeah, he might be alive.
[00:09:24] Yeah.
[00:09:25] But it's just like, oh, okay.
[00:09:28] Okay.
[00:09:29] And also didn't we do this in dead city?
[00:09:32] Haven't we already been through a whole, the genetic mind palace underground tunnel?
[00:09:36] This has already happened.
[00:09:38] And yeah, you know, it's also, it's kind of giving house of the undying from game of
[00:09:43] Thrones, which, you know, the show screwed that one up, but yeah, you meet your dead loved
[00:09:49] ones breathing in fumes in a tunnel.
[00:09:51] I feel like that is a plot point you get to use once per franchise.
[00:09:55] Yeah.
[00:09:56] I will say this, not so much the plot point, but I think that the, you, you pointed out
[00:10:01] earlier, you said, how dare you to the, to the show runners and I, and the creators.
[00:10:06] And I, and I honestly, I agree.
[00:10:08] I think that they take some really big swings and this far into the apocalypse, they're running
[00:10:13] out of ideas, right?
[00:10:14] And we've seen the fast zombies, the crawling zombies, the zombies that fake sleep, the ones
[00:10:17] that blow up, the ones you can catapult, you know, we've seen all of that.
[00:10:20] We got bioliminescent zombies in this.
[00:10:23] And it's kind of like when someone came up with the idea and they said, all right, let's
[00:10:26] just carve out 20 minutes of the last episode of the season, just to let them, let's just
[00:10:29] see what happens.
[00:10:30] Right.
[00:10:30] And I thought that that was really cool.
[00:10:32] You know, they gave us a nice visual of all the, the walkers getting up and they're just
[00:10:36] like glowing and stuff.
[00:10:38] It's all hazy because of the hallucinations.
[00:10:40] But to me, that's probably the best thing that they did in this episode was just like, you
[00:10:44] know, just using your imagination as to giving us different ways these walkers can be menacing
[00:10:48] because the show could get very one note.
[00:10:50] And sometimes it does start to feel that way.
[00:10:52] At least they use their imagination when it comes to that.
[00:10:54] And that's how I felt, AJ.
[00:10:56] No, I'm with you.
[00:10:57] And, and yeah, kudos to the makeup department.
[00:10:59] And like, it, it looked, especially for this show, which tends to, you know, just have
[00:11:05] an open field with one zombie in it.
[00:11:07] Uh, you know, it looked great.
[00:11:08] And, and I w I was impressed with that aspect of it, but I don't know.
[00:11:14] It's like, I used to watch a show called called Z nation, which in its first season kind of
[00:11:19] basically said, yeah, everyone else is doing the zombies and we're going to do the crazy
[00:11:23] ass zombies.
[00:11:24] So they had plant zombies.
[00:11:25] They had a bear zombie.
[00:11:27] They had deer zombies, you know?
[00:11:28] So anyway, you didn't know which animal was going to turn into a zombie.
[00:11:31] They had a baby zombie who was a fast baby zombie.
[00:11:34] Like, so it was interesting stuff, but it was, it was absolutely, you know, out there.
[00:11:40] And the, you know, they took big swings and it was ridiculous and insane, but I was there
[00:11:45] for it.
[00:11:46] I mean, they even had my favorites.
[00:11:47] My favorite episode of all is the George R.R.
[00:11:50] Martin zombie who was actually George R.R.
[00:11:53] Martin played him as a, and he was his, his zombies helped.
[00:11:57] And he was still writing the last novel.
[00:12:01] He's definitely not writing them now, you know?
[00:12:03] Yeah.
[00:12:04] Winter was still coming, but, but, but it took big swings like that.
[00:12:07] And here it's just like, all right, we're going to kill all the characters in the first
[00:12:11] 20 minutes and we're going to send them on their way and escape.
[00:12:14] And then we're going to introduce three new characters just to kill them off.
[00:12:16] And it's like, where, where is the big swing of having like a giant set piece where we
[00:12:22] actually don't know what's going to happen?
[00:12:23] Because again, the only two characters who survived this were the ones with the plot
[00:12:26] armor.
[00:12:27] And, and Kudrom.
[00:12:29] Yeah.
[00:12:30] And Kudrom.
[00:12:30] He also, he also, you know, literally like, you know, he's going to kill Daryl.
[00:12:34] And Kudrom just like wanders off for no apparent reason.
[00:12:36] Like, you know, like, look over there.
[00:12:37] What?
[00:12:38] Huh?
[00:12:38] And he's gone.
[00:12:39] You know, like it's silly to me.
[00:12:41] That's not how you care for somebody having a bad trip, by the way.
[00:12:44] Yeah.
[00:12:45] This is very, very true.
[00:12:46] Very true.
[00:12:47] I, I just, I just wish that like this, this could have been, you know, in the penultimate
[00:12:54] episode.
[00:12:54] And then we actually see them get to England and like, oh my gosh, here we are.
[00:12:57] As opposed to, oh, we have a set piece.
[00:13:00] Then it really, it's not even as big as it is.
[00:13:02] Cause it's really only in a tunnel and we're, we're retracing our steps and we know who's
[00:13:06] going to survive.
[00:13:07] And yeah, we're going to, we're going to play it.
[00:13:09] Carol might die because she's hugging a zombie, but she doesn't even really do that.
[00:13:13] Like, I don't know.
[00:13:15] Yeah.
[00:13:16] Um, there were moments where I thought we might, we might see the end of Carol.
[00:13:19] Uh, you know, I thought it'd be very weird to end Carol in this iteration of the walking
[00:13:23] dead.
[00:13:23] Like that would have been a big swing.
[00:13:25] That would have been the book of Carol.
[00:13:28] Like closing the book of Carol.
[00:13:30] I would have been, I would have been all for it.
[00:13:32] Yeah.
[00:13:33] We used to do that.
[00:13:34] Jess.
[00:13:34] We used to do that.
[00:13:36] Mm hmm.
[00:13:36] What was the last time we killed somebody that mattered?
[00:13:38] I always ask this question and I don't think I have a real answer.
[00:13:41] Well, John Dory.
[00:13:44] Yeah, arguably, um, Rosita dies in the finale of that matter.
[00:13:48] But that was also, they weren't even going to do that.
[00:13:51] She begged them to do it.
[00:13:52] Yes, exactly.
[00:13:53] Come back.
[00:13:53] I don't want to be on the Daryl Carol show.
[00:13:57] Yeah.
[00:13:57] She's like, just let somebody die.
[00:13:59] If it's gotta be me, then it'll be me.
[00:14:00] But yeah, I mean, heads on pikes is probably the last time.
[00:14:04] Yeah.
[00:14:04] They took a big swing and, and yeah, it was some minor characters as well, but at least
[00:14:09] it was like, okay, they're going to feel this.
[00:14:11] I feel this as an audience member, you know?
[00:14:14] Mm hmm.
[00:14:14] Yeah.
[00:14:14] And it was also like, you had the extra bonus of like, as a comics reader, you know, the
[00:14:20] heads on spikes are coming and it's like, which heads are it going to be?
[00:14:24] And yeah, that was probably, I think that was the last time we killed somebody that mattered.
[00:14:31] Um, yeah.
[00:14:32] Yeah.
[00:14:33] And when I say mattered, obviously a lot of these characters matter to the, to the greatest
[00:14:37] storyline, but I mean like that old feeling of the walking dead where it feels like anybody
[00:14:41] can get it.
[00:14:42] You know what I'm saying?
[00:14:42] Like when you're like, well, dang, I didn't think they were going to kill Shane off this
[00:14:45] early.
[00:14:46] You know, like those moments where you're like, dang, this person is gone too.
[00:14:49] You know, like, okay, we saw this.
[00:14:51] We saw Glenn dying coming, but Abraham, you know, like, like, remember when they would
[00:14:54] just slip those things and it would happen.
[00:14:56] And Denise getting murdered like mid sentence.
[00:14:59] Right.
[00:14:59] Yeah.
[00:15:00] Even as, even though you knew that happened in the comics, it was like, you didn't know
[00:15:03] it was happening to her at that point.
[00:15:05] It was, it was great.
[00:15:06] Maybe the best death for my money of the walking dead.
[00:15:10] Yeah.
[00:15:10] Well, one of the deaths we have to keep revisiting in this episode is Sophia, uh, because, uh,
[00:15:16] she is going to be Carol's driving force throughout this whole season.
[00:15:18] As we saw, she uses Sophia's death as the lie about her death, um, saying she's missing
[00:15:23] in order to convince Ash to take her over to Europe.
[00:15:26] Uh, now Ash is over it.
[00:15:27] He doesn't want to hear anything else about Sophia.
[00:15:29] Uh, and so Carol is still walking around with this guilt that she has or, you know,
[00:15:34] whatever.
[00:15:35] And she's starting to realize she doesn't even remember what Sophia looked like prior to,
[00:15:38] you know, being zombified because ever since she'd become a walker, you know, in that moment,
[00:15:43] coming out of that barn, Carol can't see anything except that, which makes total sense to me.
[00:15:47] Right.
[00:15:47] She doesn't have any kind of real therapy to deal with.
[00:15:50] Like this is the last image she has of a child that she loved.
[00:15:52] So comma, but now this child is popping up in hallucinations and potentially killing Carol.
[00:15:58] I was like, y'all, I, it's hard for me because for so many seasons of the walking in, we did not talk about Sophia.
[00:16:05] We just didn't.
[00:16:06] It was just like, Carol was on the show.
[00:16:07] They had bigger fish to fry.
[00:16:08] Negan, all this other stuff.
[00:16:09] It'd be different if every time, you know, we looked up at least once an episode, Carol was like, dang, Sophia, miss her.
[00:16:15] But it seems like all of a sudden, Sophia is such a big part of her storyline in a way that she should have probably always been.
[00:16:23] But anyway, she's just never had before.
[00:16:25] So when she starts hallucinating and basically almost dying at the hands of zombie Sophia that doesn't exist.
[00:16:31] I got very concerned because I was like, am I going to be really angry on the podcast this week?
[00:16:35] Because although that would have been interesting, I just felt like it would have been so unbelievable for who Carol is as a person right now.
[00:16:40] So maybe it does take some batshit to get her hallucinated like that.
[00:16:46] Yeah, it's interesting because there's a couple of really deep pulls that we got this episode that I think we're going to talk about at some point.
[00:16:53] Lizzie?
[00:16:56] Yeah. Lizzie?
[00:16:58] Yep.
[00:16:59] And we've also.
[00:17:02] It is interesting because it was mostly like the fact of Sophia was always there because it was always like Carol was looking for another kid to parent.
[00:17:12] Yeah, it was always like this is this is what Carol does.
[00:17:15] She like murders people behind the scenes and lies about it and then also cares for the children.
[00:17:20] And that was Carol's deal.
[00:17:21] And she cared for the children to fill the void of the child that she had lost.
[00:17:26] But.
[00:17:28] If you joined the walking dead like season four or five, you might not even know who that child was or when they died.
[00:17:37] Mm hmm.
[00:17:38] Exactly.
[00:17:39] But now it seems like it's all it's Carol's whole entire driving force in the show.
[00:17:43] You know, it's something that it was like the quiet part that, you know, like a day one person is like, yeah, obviously Carol had this.
[00:17:49] It's really, you know, like like we know Carol was in an abusive relationship.
[00:17:52] These are just things that we don't talk about no more.
[00:17:54] But if it came up in a flashback in the next episode, I'd be like, really?
[00:17:57] You know, I know this is back to Carol.
[00:17:59] I'm sure it was a traumatic thing.
[00:18:00] But A.J., you can't just pull this out in the in the fourth spinoff of the series and think that we're going to care about it.
[00:18:05] Well, the thing is, for me, it's like it it's fine and fair game.
[00:18:12] If these you know, you're on the new show, you're on, you know, dead city.
[00:18:16] And you like saying, you know, we're going to address these things about Negan that the show forgot.
[00:18:20] We're going to address the things about Maggie that the show forgot.
[00:18:23] We get to this show.
[00:18:24] We're going to address the things about Daryl and Carol that the show forgot.
[00:18:27] And if that if that's what you're planning on doing, then I'm all for it and I'm excited about it.
[00:18:31] And there were there were moments in both of these shows where it was just like, oh, we are finally, finally someone saying it.
[00:18:37] But to do that in season one and then season two to just go.
[00:18:43] Yeah, well, none of that Daryl stuff we were talking about, you know, like he was talking about all this stuff about, you know, oh, my gosh, I had to kill my brother.
[00:18:52] Like, can you just say Merle's name?
[00:18:55] Can you say Merle's name?
[00:18:56] Why are you being selective about when you do that and have a memory?
[00:18:59] And they kind of think, you know, Daryl's like, yeah, I can imagine.
[00:19:02] Like, but still say Merle's name.
[00:19:05] He had a name. Something, something.
[00:19:07] Somebody had a name.
[00:19:09] Let people who maybe are in the situation where they're only watching this like, yeah, there is a history.
[00:19:13] Maybe they'll go back and watch the show and figure it out or, you know, or look into it.
[00:19:17] But like I was just like, I know it's there and it's sitting there.
[00:19:19] But like, why are you not saying that?
[00:19:21] But you're having her every time she sees a door, it's a barn door.
[00:19:26] And Sophia's coming out of it.
[00:19:27] Like, it doesn't make any sense.
[00:19:29] Like, be consistent is what I'm asking.
[00:19:31] Like, you know, everybody gets trauma or nobody gets trauma.
[00:19:34] Yeah.
[00:19:34] Yeah.
[00:19:35] Have a memory about the show's past or don't.
[00:19:39] And I'm fine if we're going to say, you know, hey, this is a new show.
[00:19:41] We're going a different direction.
[00:19:42] And maybe, you know, we're going to retcon a few things to make it all work.
[00:19:46] Sure.
[00:19:46] OK.
[00:19:47] But if you're going to be like, yeah, bring up Lizzie and not bring up Merle.
[00:19:50] Come on now.
[00:19:51] Especially when he's telling like, I killed my brother.
[00:19:54] Do you, Daryl, have any idea what that's like?
[00:19:57] Maybe.
[00:19:58] I don't know.
[00:19:58] I can imagine.
[00:19:59] Yeah.
[00:20:00] I got to decide if I'm allowed to talk about that or not.
[00:20:02] Right.
[00:20:03] Well, because when Carol has her hallucinations, she thinks back to the most traumatic thing
[00:20:06] that ever happened to her.
[00:20:07] Right.
[00:20:07] Like the Sophia thing is still something that she struggles with, apparently, even this
[00:20:12] far into the show and apocalypse.
[00:20:14] Daryl has this hallucinations and he remembers the love of his life.
[00:20:18] Isabel, who we just met last season.
[00:20:19] Not all the people in the past that Daryl has left behind.
[00:20:22] Not his brother.
[00:20:22] Not Rick.
[00:20:23] Not anybody else.
[00:20:26] But, but this, Isabel.
[00:20:27] Two things, two things there.
[00:20:28] One, that would have been a perfect, perfect opportunity to bring Rooker back for that scene.
[00:20:34] Yeah.
[00:20:35] I mean, because, oh, would it not, that had not killed.
[00:20:38] I mean, awesome.
[00:20:39] And you don't have to get him for like a couple of seconds.
[00:20:41] You know, awesome.
[00:20:42] You can use archive footage.
[00:20:44] You don't even have to get Rooker.
[00:20:45] Like just get him to sign off on it.
[00:20:46] Yes.
[00:20:47] I mean, that would, that would have made a total sense, but also, yes, you're right.
[00:20:50] It's Daryl remembering back is the reason he doesn't remember Merle's because,
[00:20:55] Daryl Dixon could only remember what happened in the last three months.
[00:20:58] He has no obvious permanence.
[00:20:59] Daryl Dixon is a goldfish.
[00:21:02] He's gone through a lot.
[00:21:03] Oh, is that a dog over there?
[00:21:05] Hmm.
[00:21:06] What happened to dog?
[00:21:07] Or the lady with dogs?
[00:21:08] Right.
[00:21:10] Really?
[00:21:10] We don't care about the lady with dog.
[00:21:12] We don't care about the lady with dog.
[00:21:13] She does not exist.
[00:21:14] No, but not lady with dog, but even like, like, feel about dog.
[00:21:18] Yeah.
[00:21:18] What about Connie?
[00:21:19] Come on.
[00:21:20] Exactly.
[00:21:21] Connie's who was alive and we're all just waiting on Daryl to come back as far as we're
[00:21:24] all concerned.
[00:21:25] And he's like, Isabelle, you know?
[00:21:26] So it was weird to me, especially with the Lizzie name drop that you're right, that they
[00:21:31] wouldn't lean into like, okay, well, if we're doing origins, let's talk about it.
[00:21:34] You know, let's really get into what got Daryl here.
[00:21:36] We didn't really do that.
[00:21:37] It really wasn't consistent.
[00:21:39] You know, I think this was just a saying goodbye to the Isabelle storyline and being
[00:21:42] like, Daryl's moving on.
[00:21:43] But I really do think like, and maybe this is my paranoia.
[00:21:46] That is just another vehicle.
[00:21:48] It's just to be like, okay, he's let Isabelle go.
[00:21:50] But now he can open his heart to this woman that he's known for 40 years already.
[00:21:54] Yeah.
[00:21:54] He's gotten over somebody so he can get under somebody else.
[00:21:58] Somebody he could have gotten under years and years and years and years and years ago.
[00:22:01] And you still cannot convince me that they didn't actually try it at least once.
[00:22:05] At least once.
[00:22:05] Because there was a whole stretch of time when everybody was really bored.
[00:22:08] Yeah.
[00:22:08] What else were you doing?
[00:22:10] And the fans were clamoring.
[00:22:11] I remember.
[00:22:12] I remember those days.
[00:22:13] I'm not.
[00:22:14] Look, I'm old enough to remember when people thought the Daryl and Carol should be a thing.
[00:22:17] Now we've come so far away from that.
[00:22:19] It was like you showed us repeatedly that that was never going to be a thing.
[00:22:22] And now I'm like, well, in season three, it kind of has to be a thing.
[00:22:26] You know, like, although we said it shouldn't happen.
[00:22:28] How do you walk this back?
[00:22:29] You know, you've removed all the other outliers.
[00:22:32] You've removed the child they were going to have to raise together.
[00:22:34] It's just the two of them.
[00:22:35] You see how happy Rick and Michonne were without their kids?
[00:22:38] You know, like, this is exactly what Daryl and Carol need.
[00:22:42] So I don't know.
[00:22:44] I'm very nervous to see what happens next because, you know, they've gone through the hallucinations,
[00:22:48] but now they're going to come out of the other side of this.
[00:22:50] And it's just going to be the two of them versus what's left of the EU.
[00:22:57] Well, I think it's going to be interesting because it sure seemed like Agnes and Fiona were.
[00:23:04] They were.
[00:23:05] They was they said they were in the UK for several years after everything went down and that when they left the UK, it was still somewhat functioning.
[00:23:14] And, you know, we go in.
[00:23:16] Yeah, we go into the channel and they're expecting there's a checkpoint there.
[00:23:21] So I'm curious, like, are we going to go into something that's like a little bit more infrastructural?
[00:23:26] Yeah, that's a good question.
[00:23:27] You know, because Paris was fine.
[00:23:29] You know, I don't think it was the worst off.
[00:23:30] They could be, you know, they found their communities as they do in America.
[00:23:34] But, you know, would we be going to more of like a like a like a Commonwealth situation?
[00:23:38] Right. As opposed to, you know, Paris is like they're all living like a fortress.
[00:23:41] But here is like, OK, is this a community now that we're going to?
[00:23:44] Is it a city or is London going to have any type of infrastructure for them to be bold enough to get into that tunnel and then be like, let there be light and actually expect for there to be electricity.
[00:23:53] And it happened. That's it. Since when? Since when can we just count on?
[00:23:57] Let me turn this light switch on and it's going to work. It's a zombie apocalypse. There's no power plant.
[00:24:02] You know, as much as I'd like to think that they're going to go through and maybe see a functioning society.
[00:24:10] I also am fully expecting the writers of this show to have them go through the tunnel and they're suddenly operating under Arthurian law.
[00:24:18] Connecticut Yankee and King Arthur.
[00:24:20] Yeah. Like, why not? Like, what do we know about England?
[00:24:23] Well, they they have a king and and wizards.
[00:24:27] Yeah.
[00:24:28] Medieval times. Welcome to the Red Fest.
[00:24:30] Like I wouldn't be surprised if that's how culture has evolved, because I mean, that's kind of what Ezekiel's kingdom kind of turned into was was an offshoot of that.
[00:24:38] Like, what's England do it right? I mean, but yeah, it would make sense.
[00:24:42] It would be great if they walked in and it was like modern, like, yeah, fully modern and working.
[00:24:48] It's like, yeah, we just we just isolated from the rest of the world.
[00:24:51] You know, we shut down Heathrow and we're just like shut down the channel.
[00:24:55] It's like we're business as usual. Keep calm. Carry on.
[00:24:59] Yeah.
[00:25:00] Yeah. When you you mentioned the Arthurian law, but I mean, there was like kind of hints to that in this episode where I think it was Akilah.
[00:25:06] It's like, yeah, horses don't have these problems. You know, like, oh, yeah, we really do like lean on the like we lean on the animals, you know, when we needed to.
[00:25:13] And I was like, oh, OK, that's an interesting thing to say. I was really trying to latch on to the Kila storyline, even though it meant nothing.
[00:25:20] Like I was like, they must be giving us this woman for some reason. Right.
[00:25:23] Like she immediately latched onto Falou. They talk there.
[00:25:26] You know, there's these moments. They make eye contact. He decides to stay. And that's it.
[00:25:31] I refuse to believe that those two characters are written off the show.
[00:25:33] Just if nothing else, they got to come back. They got to they got to meet up with these two, because why would you do this just to take these people away?
[00:25:41] Yeah. Yeah. It almost seemed like, yeah, we forgot Falou existed.
[00:25:46] And it's like, oh, wait, we didn't wrap that up. Like, isn't he supposed to go with them?
[00:25:49] Well, let's give him something like, you know, give him a shiny object to distract him.
[00:25:54] And yeah, there were there were like two. Also, there were two random women and one of them.
[00:25:58] I don't know what happened to her. She just kind of fell off the face of the planet.
[00:26:00] And I don't think she had a name. But yeah. Yeah.
[00:26:03] You don't introduce a new character and name that character.
[00:26:06] I was sure Akilah was just going to get eaten immediately.
[00:26:08] Like I thought, you know, this is what happens on the show, too.
[00:26:12] Anytime, anytime you make out with somebody, one of those parties is going to get eaten within the next 24 hours.
[00:26:18] It's a curse. Yeah. Unless you're Rick and Michonne.
[00:26:21] But right, right. Well, that's the thing is like this franchise is that history of either we're going to introduce these characters.
[00:26:29] And so that you think they're going to be regulars, like all of Michonne's traveling party.
[00:26:33] Like, oh, OK, so Michonne's going to bring all these people on and, you know, boom, boom, dead, dead, dead.
[00:26:37] Like, oh, it's just Michonne again.
[00:26:39] And you do kind of feel because you became like with those characters in particular, like you were into them for a little bit.
[00:26:46] Like, OK, I'm buying in.
[00:26:49] This was like this is your season finale.
[00:26:51] You're introducing this woman and you're giving her and Falou a 10 minute scene.
[00:26:57] Of falling in love in my finale.
[00:27:01] Yeah, you're wasting the time.
[00:27:03] And then you're not sending them through the tunnel.
[00:27:08] So, yes, Chappelle, I think that would make me want to hope that that camp at the end, maybe, you know, episode two.
[00:27:15] We found her sister and now we come get you because that was all that we can't live without her sister.
[00:27:20] We can't live without her sister. OK, so they find the sister, cast the sister, bring her, bring them all through to save the day.
[00:27:25] That would be great. But I have no trust in the show that the show didn't just like we need an excuse for Falou not to go.
[00:27:31] Yeah. And they wasted 10 minutes on this.
[00:27:34] Mm hmm. Yeah. They leave you with a character, like with a character that you should like.
[00:27:39] Right. At this point, we've grown to know Falou a little bit more.
[00:27:41] He's come through clutch a few times.
[00:27:43] He's a solid character in a world where there are so many that are not.
[00:27:46] And then you give him a love interest and tell him you're sitting this one out.
[00:27:49] And so, yeah, for me, I'm like next season, I would love to see if that pays off to be anything.
[00:27:53] Like you said, she mentions her sister several times.
[00:27:56] It would be insane for them not to let us see the sister at some point.
[00:27:59] So I've got it.
[00:28:01] Yes.
[00:28:01] Sister is in London.
[00:28:03] Yes.
[00:28:03] Yeah. Send him back to France.
[00:28:05] Immediately turn right back around.
[00:28:07] Go back in the channel because everybody goes.
[00:28:09] Yeah. Mission accomplished.
[00:28:11] OK.
[00:28:13] I could see that this way you don't have to build any new sets, really.
[00:28:16] Yeah.
[00:28:17] I'm saying they're doing well filming in France.
[00:28:20] If we're going to if we're going to London, please, can we can we have one one big high action sequence on the London eye?
[00:28:28] Please, please.
[00:28:30] Please zombies on the London eye.
[00:28:31] That's all I ask.
[00:28:32] I want a zombie queen.
[00:28:35] Well, that was that was like what?
[00:28:37] We already have that.
[00:28:38] From 2000 to 2020.
[00:28:40] Right.
[00:28:40] We already had that.
[00:28:42] That was a real life zombie queen.
[00:28:43] I mean, she's got some like energy to her now.
[00:28:46] Yes.
[00:28:47] Now that she is a zombie.
[00:28:48] Yes.
[00:28:50] Yeah.
[00:28:50] I want to know what happens with that, obviously.
[00:28:52] And then, of course, like, you know, speaking of characters that we are writing off or at least for the time being, we've mentioned it a couple of times, but Laron's gone.
[00:29:00] You know, there is unless some act of God or some other entity keeps that plane from making it to America.
[00:29:07] We won't see Laron in season three unless they're doing maybe like a here and there type of situation where we're getting like half the time spent with Daryl and Carol and then half of the time back, you know, with the kids.
[00:29:19] And it's possible, right?
[00:29:22] Yeah.
[00:29:23] Yeah.
[00:29:24] Yeah.
[00:29:24] Here's what I want.
[00:29:25] Here's what I want.
[00:29:26] I want the plane to end up not landing at the Commonwealth.
[00:29:29] The plane lands in upstate New York and yes, as to death by the endlings like they just pick on it the whole time.
[00:29:38] He's Laron should be able to take it, though.
[00:29:39] He's but he's getting bullied a lot.
[00:29:41] You know, even though despite him being the Messiah, like he's he barely got any kid friends.
[00:29:45] I think he'd be.
[00:29:46] Yeah.
[00:29:47] And if he does, if he does land with the endlings, you're like, oh, I have a Rubik's cube.
[00:29:52] That is a nice jacket you are wearing.
[00:29:54] Yeah.
[00:29:55] You know, Elton are kind of the same person.
[00:29:58] Pretty much.
[00:29:59] So one of them would end up dying and I don't want it to be Elton.
[00:30:02] No, better not be Elton.
[00:30:03] Yeah.
[00:30:04] If Elton dies, we riot.
[00:30:05] Yeah.
[00:30:06] We got to take him out.
[00:30:08] So we had a big, you know, farewell sequence, you know, with Daryl and Laron.
[00:30:12] I mean, most of the episode was Daryl saying goodbye to Laron in different ways because Daryl had already decided that he was not going to go back.
[00:30:19] He's like, Laron, I'll send you with Carol.
[00:30:21] I'll send you with Ash.
[00:30:22] They'll take care of you.
[00:30:23] Jess, I know you pulled out your guitar.
[00:30:25] We on the record.
[00:30:26] How did you feel about this whole moment where Laron has been playing?
[00:30:31] You can't always get what you want.
[00:30:32] Just in time for it.
[00:30:33] I don't know if this is Daryl's first time singing in this series, but I really wasn't expecting a musical number from the two of them.
[00:30:39] I guess goodbyes bring this out of you.
[00:30:42] I what I was not expecting was for Daryl to be sobbing while he was doing it like that seemed a little like, you know, zombie apocalypse.
[00:30:53] Jesus is the person that finally brings out this like music side of Daryl.
[00:30:57] I don't know how I feel about that specifically.
[00:31:00] I think like any element of it, like if he's crying with no music.
[00:31:04] Okay.
[00:31:04] If he's singing and not crying.
[00:31:06] Okay.
[00:31:06] If they're just having a conversation, bro and down.
[00:31:09] Okay.
[00:31:10] I don't know.
[00:31:11] Like this is a little bit modeling for my tastes.
[00:31:13] It's like his kid though.
[00:31:14] You know, this is like Daryl's, uh, like son.
[00:31:18] Yeah.
[00:31:18] You know what?
[00:31:19] It's still Laron.
[00:31:22] Look, it is still Laron.
[00:31:23] I will give Daryl the grace to have that moment because I don't think he was really crying about Laron so much as he was still still mourning Isabel.
[00:31:31] And then the whole, this was the family that I finally had accepted that I was going to buy in on.
[00:31:35] And like, oh great.
[00:31:36] He lived and she, he lived and she died.
[00:31:41] I'll give him that.
[00:31:42] Yeah.
[00:31:43] I, Daryl saying, okay, go on without me.
[00:31:47] I could have saw that come in.
[00:31:48] Like if it really sat, sat around and thought about it, I could see that.
[00:31:52] But Carol also being like, no, no, no.
[00:31:54] I insist y'all go on without me.
[00:31:56] Carol.
[00:31:56] Why do you want to stay here?
[00:31:57] I'm very confused about Carol's motives.
[00:31:59] Oh, not only that, like her, her motives were like done by the end of like, you know, she's like all of a sudden it was like, you know, oh, Ash, you know, I do apologize.
[00:32:11] And like, you know, I'm going to explain myself for the 53rd time and like, yeah, we're cool.
[00:32:16] Oh, we're cool.
[00:32:16] Yeah, we're cool.
[00:32:17] Okay.
[00:32:17] Well, if we're cool, then there's no tension or drama on the plane.
[00:32:20] So I better dip out and help Daryl.
[00:32:23] Like, I just don't like, you know, again, it was that moment where it was like, you know, they, oh, we made it.
[00:32:29] We've survived.
[00:32:29] Well, the gunshots missed.
[00:32:30] And, you know, then they, they, you know, pan over to where Carol's seated.
[00:32:33] You're like, oh no, she's been hit.
[00:32:34] She's dead.
[00:32:35] They're killing Carol.
[00:32:36] Again, close the book on Carol.
[00:32:38] It was so perfect.
[00:32:38] Like again, I, I love Carol.
[00:32:41] I hope Carol lives forever.
[00:32:42] Unless her guy did no wrong, but it still would have been great for her to be like, have been shot and them to fly off with her dead.
[00:32:49] You know, that would have been awesome.
[00:32:51] Yeah.
[00:32:52] Like, you know, drop kicking her out of the plane after she's dead.
[00:32:55] Yeah.
[00:32:56] You know, if she got shot, she's going to come back.
[00:32:59] She's going to turn while you're in the air.
[00:33:01] And we already saw that happen on fear.
[00:33:03] We don't want it.
[00:33:04] Mm hmm.
[00:33:05] Yeah.
[00:33:05] So, yeah.
[00:33:07] You know, she, she dipped out because she had to take the shot that would save, save them.
[00:33:11] Like, oh, okay.
[00:33:12] Okay.
[00:33:13] Fine.
[00:33:14] And, you know, then we dispatch of our, our, our big bad number seven of the season, who just kills herself.
[00:33:20] So many.
[00:33:21] I need to talk about Jacinta's, you know, self offing here.
[00:33:25] Yeah.
[00:33:26] Yeah.
[00:33:26] Go ahead.
[00:33:27] Because the way they set this up, it was like, you could have made this into something really cool and powerful.
[00:33:32] You know, she's been eaten and she's still fighting, even though she's been eaten.
[00:33:36] And it's like, she has reasons, I guess.
[00:33:39] It's like, no, she picked up the mantle.
[00:33:40] She believes in this.
[00:33:41] She wants to go find Laurent and feed him to a zombie.
[00:33:43] And it's more important than death.
[00:33:45] And she's coming out.
[00:33:46] And then there's a scene where, you know, you see her, she puts the gun like up to her chin.
[00:33:51] And then we pan over to Carol and Daryl.
[00:33:54] And they hear the gunshot ring out.
[00:33:56] And they look up with sad eyes like, oh, I know what that means.
[00:34:00] That means that Jacinta finally offed herself.
[00:34:02] We don't know a goddamn thing about Jacinta.
[00:34:05] Nope.
[00:34:06] If we, if they had developed this character at all whatsoever, instead of just like having her kind of be in the room when Lo Sang is in the room and occasionally he calls her by name.
[00:34:15] So we know that Jacinta.
[00:34:17] That's like literally the only thing we know about her is their name is Jacinta.
[00:34:20] And this should have been Lo Sang.
[00:34:23] This should have been Lo Sang.
[00:34:24] This should have been like Lo Sang offing himself.
[00:34:27] That would have had stakes.
[00:34:28] Like, why did we kill him last episode?
[00:34:30] We could have killed Jacinta.
[00:34:31] Yes.
[00:34:32] In the catacombs and had Lo Sang continue to be the big bad until we got here.
[00:34:36] Or we could have just built her up, like given her some stakes independent of Lo Sang, give her some reason that be there that we like her.
[00:34:44] Yep.
[00:34:44] And then, you know, like maybe have her like in the early episodes, she's like an ally to Laurent and everybody like understands, you know, they have a strong bond.
[00:34:54] They care for each other.
[00:34:55] We care for her because she loves the same guy we love.
[00:34:58] And then she kills herself and it's like, oh, look how far we fall and look how far we've been rent apart.
[00:35:02] That would work.
[00:35:03] But you're right.
[00:35:03] It should have been Lo Sang.
[00:35:06] Yep.
[00:35:07] You didn't need to change anything other than who died last week.
[00:35:10] Yeah.
[00:35:10] Swap them.
[00:35:11] Like, did we not have enough money to pay the actor for one more episode?
[00:35:14] Is that what happened?
[00:35:16] Well, speaking of actors, you know, now that Jacinta is dead, you know, we I guess we would assume that maybe this whole cult thing is gone.
[00:35:25] Right. Like, Jacinta's dead. She was next in line.
[00:35:28] Laurent is gone.
[00:35:29] But we never talk about this other lady who keeps popping up.
[00:35:32] Sabine.
[00:35:34] She's, uh, Janae's back.
[00:35:36] It's like second and second.
[00:35:37] She's still there.
[00:35:39] She's still there.
[00:35:39] Like, yeah, Jacinta's in charge now.
[00:35:41] I'm like, are we ever going to learn anything about this woman?
[00:35:43] Because I think she was one of the janitors or something like that.
[00:35:46] Like, uh, I think she's in charge of the cult now.
[00:35:48] I don't know if you can keep it.
[00:35:51] But I mean, Laurent being away definitely debunks a lot of the like, uh, the like the questions a lot of people have.
[00:35:56] Right.
[00:35:56] Because you have to love saying people say, well, we got to see if he can get bitten and survive because that'll prove.
[00:36:01] But with him being gone, you're like, no, no, no, definitely.
[00:36:04] That's the truth.
[00:36:05] We'll never be able to prove it because he's gone.
[00:36:06] But you just got to take my word for it.
[00:36:08] I think the cults have been in a better place than it's ever been if she's in charge.
[00:36:11] We just don't know anything.
[00:36:13] Because she can just like keep she can keep milking this Laurent's coming back someday thing.
[00:36:18] Because, you know, when you're when your God figure disappears, you can spend up to 2000 years convincing people he's going to come back at some point and you can build like a whole infrastructure around that.
[00:36:30] Yes.
[00:36:31] I think it's been done before.
[00:36:32] Yeah, especially if you're if you're presumed Messiah figure ascended into the sky.
[00:36:40] Mm hmm.
[00:36:42] I mean, yeah, I think we've done that before a couple times, too.
[00:36:45] So, yeah.
[00:36:46] Mm hmm.
[00:36:47] Yeah.
[00:36:48] He's an orphan.
[00:36:49] He's living by us.
[00:36:49] Like, you know, like, you know, it writes itself.
[00:36:51] The story writes itself.
[00:36:52] I'm just saying that we still have a character.
[00:36:54] We still have a loose end and that's not tied up when it comes to that kind of stuff.
[00:36:58] But they never in I think this is in the in the six episodes we've been talking about.
[00:37:02] I don't think I've said her name one time.
[00:37:03] Sabine, I had to look it up.
[00:37:05] And I'm like, I'm like, OK, who is the lady with the hat who always pops up to pass off the torch to the next person in charge?
[00:37:12] We lost a few characters, but we did not lose her.
[00:37:15] And so I'm kind of just thinking, is she next up?
[00:37:17] Are we going to have more continuation of the Laurent storyline in season three?
[00:37:22] AJ, what do you predict?
[00:37:23] I like what you said that we might do the parallel storylines where we follow Ash and Laurent's landing, not quite in the Commonwealth, but like following this mystical map of Daryl left.
[00:37:35] That probably left them.
[00:37:36] I left them a map to show them how to get there.
[00:37:38] You know, and so, you know, the secret handshake so they could get in.
[00:37:41] And so maybe we maybe we do spend like, you know, half an episode with Daryl and Carol and in England and then half an episode with them landing in wherever and walking and walking and walking, walking, walking.
[00:37:55] Let's let them go. Let them overshoot the mark so that we can see some new territory.
[00:37:58] That would be nice, I think.
[00:38:00] Mm hmm. Land of Michigan or something.
[00:38:03] Yeah. Work their way back.
[00:38:04] Nice. I think that I think that the show tried to do this a little bit in this episode.
[00:38:09] So they tried to, you know, what we thought was obviously going to come, but we thought it was happening very early on was like, all right.
[00:38:15] Isn't the obvious choice here to be like, Ash, you lost a son.
[00:38:18] Laurent, you are a son.
[00:38:20] Let's go ahead and piece that together and make that a thing.
[00:38:22] You know, we get Ash talking to Laurent about the plane, you know, kind of teaching him about the plane, slipping back into his old things that he used to do with his kid.
[00:38:29] I was like, OK, this makes sense.
[00:38:30] So if they're doing the parallel storylines where we will see more of them in America, I can definitely see them building that bond.
[00:38:36] Right. That that father son relationship that Laurent was apparently building with Daryl just in the meantime, you know, just give give him something.
[00:38:43] I'm very excited, though, to see Ash potentially as a character we have in a future season.
[00:38:47] I just don't know how long he sticks around because he if he's if he's Laurent's dad, then what's Daryl going to do?
[00:38:52] You know, I don't think you can do. I don't think you can have two dads. Not this. Not in this universe.
[00:38:58] I mean, the fan fiction writes itself, Chappelle.
[00:39:02] Yeah, we don't want Daryl and Carol to get together.
[00:39:06] Right. I'm just saying they wouldn't have aimed for Daryl and and Ash.
[00:39:10] You know, Ash would have been like 15th on the list of Daryl's showmances.
[00:39:13] I think if you if you made a list of them.
[00:39:15] But great, great.
[00:39:17] Now Dash is endgame. Great.
[00:39:19] Yes, Dash.
[00:39:20] I'm telling you. I'll take that or Daryl, you know, conversely.
[00:39:25] Archive of our own dot com.
[00:39:28] But conversely, you could situation where it does take, you know, such a long time to do a flash forward of some sort where, you know, they do get back.
[00:39:36] But it's been like, you know, 18 months or something, you know, and and and Ash is like, you can't take the kid from me.
[00:39:43] You can't. And he's like, you have to reign. Yeah.
[00:39:45] Oh, my God.
[00:39:45] And he becomes the big bad, you know, Kramer versus Kramer walking dead style.
[00:39:51] Right. Yeah.
[00:39:53] Kill switch. Just kill switch.
[00:39:55] Kill switch. Yeah.
[00:39:55] You know this show. Yeah, I know. Kill switch.
[00:39:58] But we don't really do time jumps on this show, which is strange.
[00:40:00] You know, like I think it's because we have these iconic characters now that you got to keep them the same age or it's not going to be around each other.
[00:40:08] Because they do a time jump. We're like, OK, so Judas is what, like 20 now?
[00:40:11] You know, how old are we? How far are we going along the lines of this?
[00:40:14] They'd be recasting these people.
[00:40:16] And so I don't know. I would love to see, you know, like obviously time is going to pass while Dara and Carol are trying to figure out how to get back to America.
[00:40:24] And so, yeah, there's definitely a lot of time for Laurent and Ash to build some type of relationship.
[00:40:29] I just didn't I just didn't foresee, you know, Ash here becoming a part of our main cast, you know, especially if he's going to be Laurent's father figure, because we know Daryl has imprinted on this child.
[00:40:41] You know, he's in love with his mom, his late, his late aunt, mom, whatever.
[00:40:47] And, you know, and and and now he's sending his kid on, you know, so I'm thinking the next season is going to be Daryl like drastically trying to get back to the Americas so he can go kick it with his kid.
[00:40:59] At least that's what I could see coming. But they still haven't told me how they're going to do that.
[00:41:03] You know, we got over here on a boat and we got over here again on the plane.
[00:41:07] Are we going by sea or by air? What are we doing?
[00:41:09] See, no, I'm right. I'm right in my head. I'm right.
[00:41:13] So.
[00:41:14] So, yes, Daryl, the driving force now is yes, he's going to protect Carol at all costs also, but his driving force now is get back to America, get back with Laurent, be a father.
[00:41:26] There's all this talk of Carol's lost her kid. Ash has lost his kid.
[00:41:31] Daryl doesn't know what that's like. Never had kids.
[00:41:35] We also know.
[00:41:36] We're raising Judith and RJ at one point.
[00:41:38] Yeah, but literally like last year.
[00:41:39] It hasn't been that long.
[00:41:40] More than three months ago.
[00:41:41] It hasn't even been that long.
[00:41:43] Goldfish.
[00:41:44] But on top of that, but on top of that, again, we still have this.
[00:41:48] What happens if Laurent gets bit?
[00:41:50] What happens with like that's still hanging out there?
[00:41:52] The two dovetail perfectly into like he finds Laurent.
[00:41:55] They get back together. Laurent does get bit.
[00:41:57] Laurent dies.
[00:41:58] And now Daryl has the same Sophia like experience that Carol had.
[00:42:03] Hmm.
[00:42:04] And that's that's how season three ends with the two of them commiserating with the same kind of memory.
[00:42:09] And that's the love story.
[00:42:11] That's the love story.
[00:42:12] Then they're allowed to do it.
[00:42:14] Then they're allowed.
[00:42:15] But I think that's the perfect way to end both of these season story arcs and like time together.
[00:42:21] That's great.
[00:42:22] Although I still think it would be really interesting if Laurent got bit and nothing happened.
[00:42:26] I still think I still want that to happen just because it would be fantastic television.
[00:42:31] It would be terrible television and fantastic television at the same time.
[00:42:34] We would be aghast.
[00:42:35] We would be on here just like, so now what?
[00:42:37] You know, I love it.
[00:42:39] It's more interesting.
[00:42:41] Or even better, even better have like like really let's let's play this up.
[00:42:44] Like I'm fast forwarding episode six final episode last season.
[00:42:48] Laurent gets bit.
[00:42:49] Oh, no, he turns.
[00:42:51] Oh, no, they have to like put him down, you know, and but he comes back.
[00:42:57] Oh, weekend at Laurent's.
[00:42:59] Yeah, he comes back.
[00:43:00] And like and still he's a zombie.
[00:43:03] He's a zombie, but he talks.
[00:43:04] So but they have.
[00:43:05] But the thing is, they bury him.
[00:43:06] So they have all the grieving and everything.
[00:43:08] And then we see, yeah, rise up like must find data.
[00:43:12] Oh, it's not even that absurd because we saw Alicia as a zombie for half a season.
[00:43:17] You know, it's not even out of the question.
[00:43:20] Alicia, we still don't have a real explanation for why Alicia could just walk around in the middle verse.
[00:43:25] You know, just just halfway zombie, half human, kicking it, talking.
[00:43:29] You know, she had a fever, but she wasn't quite dead.
[00:43:32] It's just if Alicia could do that.
[00:43:34] And I think we have room to play around with something like that for Laurent.
[00:43:37] But in my mind, I think the show is going to go in the opposite direction.
[00:43:40] Carol losing a kid has been such a big deal.
[00:43:43] There's just a kid just wandering around here.
[00:43:47] Motherless, fatherless.
[00:43:48] Daryl's never had a kid.
[00:43:49] Daryl and Carol are now making eye contact.
[00:43:51] They got something to raise, something to live for now.
[00:43:54] You know, that kind of thing.
[00:43:55] I really could see Daryl and Carol making Laurent the replacement for all of these kids that Carol has been trying to adapt in the past.
[00:44:02] Yes. Yeah.
[00:44:03] I mean, honestly, I'm surprised that everybody was so quick to tell Carol to take care of Laurent because you know what happens to children that Carol takes care of.
[00:44:13] Pour out one for Lizzie.
[00:44:14] They can take care of.
[00:44:15] Right.
[00:44:16] Pour it out for Lizzie, for Sam, for Nerdy Kid in the Library, you know, for Benjamin and Henry.
[00:44:26] Yeah, it is very true, whether it's, you know, she takes up gardening or whether she takes up applesauce cookies or whatever.
[00:44:34] Mm hmm.
[00:44:35] It's it's a death knell for them for the child.
[00:44:38] You know, does the show want to go happy ending?
[00:44:41] The show goes happy ending.
[00:44:42] You know, they all reunite.
[00:44:43] They're bringing Laurent over to Rishon's house for Christmas, you know, and bringing presents or, you know, breaking bread at the Thanksgiving table.
[00:44:51] And like we have, you know, all those Rick flash forward sequences that where he was always, you know, the happy old man.
[00:44:58] Like we can we can just have that happen for real now.
[00:45:02] Yeah.
[00:45:03] Um, I, I don't know if that will happen.
[00:45:06] I don't really know how endings look in the Walking Dead universe.
[00:45:09] We don't really get those often.
[00:45:10] It feels like something else.
[00:45:13] So, yeah, I'm open to, you know, I'm open to it happening.
[00:45:19] The worst thing of all possible is like they said they save Laurent.
[00:45:23] They, you know, they spend all season.
[00:45:24] They save Laurent.
[00:45:25] They go, they go, they they're with the show and a big happy reunion.
[00:45:28] And all of a sudden, Daryl wakes up.
[00:45:31] This was all a guano induced hallucination.
[00:45:33] He's back.
[00:45:34] Stop it.
[00:45:35] Stop it.
[00:45:36] No, no, no.
[00:45:37] The entire series.
[00:45:38] Better yet.
[00:45:39] The entire Daryl Dixon series was hallucinated in the methane tunnel by Maggie and Negan.
[00:45:44] Yeah.
[00:45:45] The first hallucination that we did.
[00:45:46] We pull out and Tommy Westfall has his snow globe.
[00:45:51] So, I have questions about the guano.
[00:45:54] Cause I, I don't know nothing about batshit.
[00:45:57] You know, out of context, we'd grab that one.
[00:46:00] Yeah.
[00:46:00] Well, they'd have to know what it is.
[00:46:02] And I didn't know what it was.
[00:46:03] I started talking about it.
[00:46:04] I was like, okay.
[00:46:05] And it's a hallucination.
[00:46:08] Um, and literally nobody says officially that it's batshit.
[00:46:13] And I, I wanted somebody to say this is all batshit and nobody did.
[00:46:17] That's crazy.
[00:46:17] Yeah.
[00:46:18] Nobody said it.
[00:46:19] I wasn't expecting it to be such a big plot point.
[00:46:21] You know, they're like, oh, don't.
[00:46:23] And no, it's a hallucinogen.
[00:46:24] And then seconds later, people were hallucinating and everybody's like, what's going on?
[00:46:27] Like AJ said, you, they just told you what was about to happen.
[00:46:32] Um, I didn't know this was a true thing either.
[00:46:36] Like, are y'all familiar with this lore of batshit?
[00:46:38] It makes sense when you think about the expression.
[00:46:41] Yeah.
[00:46:42] That's it.
[00:46:42] Crazy makes way more sense.
[00:46:44] And I say that all the time.
[00:46:45] Well, you should really start looking at things before you say them.
[00:46:47] Yeah.
[00:46:48] That's what the etymology of words before they really have pre really can ingest their power.
[00:46:53] Right.
[00:46:53] This is this.
[00:46:54] I mean, this is, you know, consolidated in large amounts in an enclosed place with no circulation.
[00:46:59] So it does make sense that, you know, it was just kind of sort of pervy the atmosphere.
[00:47:05] Let's zoom out even more though, because tunnels require maintenance.
[00:47:10] That tunnels already leaking.
[00:47:12] How are they so sure they're going to go 50 kilometers through this tunnel and it's not going to have a single leak?
[00:47:19] How are they so sure?
[00:47:21] No, this looks this actually is wild that they think they're walking through.
[00:47:25] Here's a good idea.
[00:47:26] You know what?
[00:47:27] They have a boat.
[00:47:28] You can take a boat across the English Channel.
[00:47:31] Yeah, that's true.
[00:47:32] You could even swim it.
[00:47:33] Apparently people do that.
[00:47:35] This is this is one of the more dangerous moves that they've made in The Walking Dead, just kind of just like blindly walking into this dark tunnel because there's no telling what's in there.
[00:47:43] You know that you can't breathe.
[00:47:45] You know, at the very least, that is an issue.
[00:47:47] Um, we're assuming that these other people died due to some type of that shit induced hallucination.
[00:47:53] I think they were showing that they killed each other.
[00:47:55] Yeah.
[00:47:56] So you know what you're watching.
[00:47:57] I'm not realizing it.
[00:47:58] Right.
[00:47:59] Exactly.
[00:48:00] So you can't even see anything.
[00:48:02] Uh, and so I thought this was a curious choice in general.
[00:48:05] I thought when they went into the subway, you know, years ago on The Walking Dead, what was it? The Walking Dead proper.
[00:48:09] I thought that was crazy.
[00:48:11] I was like, man, it's wild that y'all would do that.
[00:48:12] Not knowing that it could be anything in here.
[00:48:15] Like it could just be usually walking to a horde of zombies.
[00:48:18] Then what are you going to do?
[00:48:18] Um, now mind you, this is Daryl and Carol.
[00:48:20] So a horde of zombies beware.
[00:48:23] Right.
[00:48:23] They're fine.
[00:48:24] I pray for any horde of zombie that comes across these two people with a knife.
[00:48:28] Um, a knife and Daryl's crossbow, which we haven't talked about.
[00:48:31] Carol brought a carry on item.
[00:48:34] She did.
[00:48:34] You remember that?
[00:48:35] I don't remember seeing her with the crossbow.
[00:48:36] Well, there's no TSA, man.
[00:48:38] Yeah.
[00:48:38] I mean, what was it?
[00:48:39] I don't remember her having a crossbow.
[00:48:41] Yeah.
[00:48:41] She didn't really.
[00:48:42] She claimed it back from the guys, uh, back at the, uh, motorcycle trading state.
[00:48:48] Yeah.
[00:48:49] Oh, okay.
[00:48:50] She said, and I'm taking this cause this was my friends, you know, and your, your friends in the trunk.
[00:48:54] Yeah.
[00:48:55] Yeah.
[00:48:55] I was like, okay.
[00:48:56] Thor got his hammer back, but I, they just kind of yada yada at that part.
[00:48:59] I was like, this is very important.
[00:49:00] This is Daryl's like, uh, this is his special move.
[00:49:03] You know, now he's really invincible in the tunnel.
[00:49:05] Yeah.
[00:49:05] I mean, you're already selling the Daryl Dixon series action figure is holding the flail.
[00:49:10] He's not holding the crossbow.
[00:49:12] Now he's got a crossbow back.
[00:49:13] And it's like, you're back to your series one Daryl figure.
[00:49:15] Mm-hmm.
[00:49:17] Exactly.
[00:49:17] Um, they gotta walk this, uh, this tunnel.
[00:49:20] Well, anytime you are walking through a tunnel in a post apocalyptic event, it is a shout out to Stephen King.
[00:49:27] Mm-hmm .
[00:49:30] Mm-hmm .
[00:49:35] Mm-hmm .
[00:49:38] I was so mad about this.
[00:49:39] And as a New Yorker, I'm even madder because there is a set piece in the stand.
[00:49:43] It's one of the most famous, most recognizable iconic Stephen King scenes is these two people are getting out of New York by going through the Lincoln tunnel at the end of the flu that kills everybody.
[00:49:54] So they're going through this tunnel that's like dark, pitch black, stacked with bodies, not maintained.
[00:49:59] And the George Washington Bridge is like, you know, eight miles up that way.
[00:50:04] You could just do that.
[00:50:04] You could go across Staten Island if you have to.
[00:50:07] Mm-hmm .
[00:50:07] There's other ways out of New York you don't have to take the tunnel.
[00:50:10] And it made me mad for years.
[00:50:12] And then they addressed it in the CBS miniseries in 2020.
[00:50:16] And everybody, everybody else except me was mad at this.
[00:50:20] Oh.
[00:50:20] Because they're like, they didn't go through the Lincoln tunnel.
[00:50:22] Like, of course they didn't because it's stupid.
[00:50:23] Because it doesn't make any sense.
[00:50:25] Don't go through tunnels in the apocalypse because tunnels have to be maintained.
[00:50:29] Yeah.
[00:50:29] Yep.
[00:50:30] I will die on this hill.
[00:50:32] Oh, no, they're going to die in the tunnel if they keep, they don't listen to you, you know?
[00:50:36] Yeah.
[00:50:37] So on their way to London to find a way home.
[00:50:40] Is that, that's, that's the whole goal here.
[00:50:41] I mean, this is really tough considering they don't have their, their Scottish, you know, teammates with them anymore.
[00:50:46] They don't have a drone either who has now disappeared.
[00:50:49] I'm assuming he'll be back, but so they just going to get to London and be like, hey, anybody got a boat?
[00:50:54] So, pretty much.
[00:50:55] I say old chap.
[00:50:57] At least they all speak the language.
[00:50:59] Yeah.
[00:51:00] Yeah.
[00:51:01] Very, very different.
[00:51:02] Even though Daryl is picking up French.
[00:51:03] Did you notice?
[00:51:04] He's getting good.
[00:51:06] Hey, what do you say?
[00:51:07] Brothers in arms forever?
[00:51:08] Yeah, that's what I thought.
[00:51:09] That's what I thought.
[00:51:09] You're learning French.
[00:51:11] Yeah.
[00:51:11] As we leave France.
[00:51:12] Yeah.
[00:51:13] As we leave France.
[00:51:14] Yeah.
[00:51:15] So yeah, that puts us in a tight spot.
[00:51:17] I think I want to, I do kind of want to eulogize Kodron a little bit, even though he's not dead.
[00:51:21] Um, he's come a long way.
[00:51:22] Our season one villain has now realized that his whole world was a sham.
[00:51:27] Daryl says, you know, that wasn't me who killed your brother.
[00:51:29] Right?
[00:51:30] He's like, what?
[00:51:31] I love that.
[00:51:32] Yeah.
[00:51:33] That skinny girl did it.
[00:51:33] And she did all this other stuff.
[00:51:34] Matter of fact, you wouldn't be even in this situation if it wasn't for her.
[00:51:37] He's like, what?
[00:51:39] Really?
[00:51:40] Damn, that changes everything.
[00:51:41] And then he disappears on us.
[00:51:43] Yeah.
[00:51:44] Well, he gets space madness first.
[00:51:46] And tries to kill Daryl.
[00:51:47] And it's like he did a heel face heel turn.
[00:51:49] And then he dipped.
[00:51:51] Yeah.
[00:51:51] Chasing after his brother.
[00:51:52] Um, even though he's hallucinating, but I, yeah, I don't know if he comes back from
[00:51:56] this, you know, they have mass.
[00:51:57] Daryl and Carol are walking away with mass.
[00:52:00] I don't, I, this seems like a prolonged, uh, hallucination might not be the best thing
[00:52:04] for somebody like a drone who was, you know, a little homicidal already, you know what
[00:52:08] I'm saying?
[00:52:08] Like, I don't think he needs this.
[00:52:11] No, it doesn't need any encouragement to murder.
[00:52:13] Mm.
[00:52:14] Mm.
[00:52:14] Yeah.
[00:52:15] But he was our villain.
[00:52:15] He was our first villain.
[00:52:17] He's like the one big bad that has survived aside from Sabine, who we don't know anything
[00:52:20] about.
[00:52:21] He's a medium bad.
[00:52:22] Medium bad.
[00:52:23] At best.
[00:52:24] Yeah.
[00:52:25] But he was, he had a good run.
[00:52:27] You know, him and Daryl were seeming like they were going to become a good team.
[00:52:29] Him and Falou seemed to be bonding.
[00:52:31] I thought this might be one of the missing pieces to our little caravan puzzle.
[00:52:34] But now he's literally a missing piece because we don't know where he went.
[00:52:38] So, for one out for Cadron.
[00:52:40] If we ever get him back, I doubt he'll be on the right side of whatever's going on.
[00:52:44] But it seemed like for a second, we actually found us an ally, AJ.
[00:52:47] For a second.
[00:52:49] And then, you know, just like that was gone.
[00:52:50] And again, I just, I think it's tying up the season really quickly.
[00:52:57] And just like, you know, maybe he'll come back.
[00:53:00] Maybe it'll be like the Sopranos and it's just, you know, go into the Pine Barrens never
[00:53:04] to be seen again.
[00:53:05] Like, whatever.
[00:53:07] I'm sure we'll encounter eight new people in episode one of season three and think they're
[00:53:13] our new team and six of them will die by the end of episode two.
[00:53:17] And then two of them will come with us and one of them will like, you know, so they turn
[00:53:19] out to be a heel turn.
[00:53:21] And like, it's the same formula over and over again.
[00:53:24] I wish they would do something to mix it up.
[00:53:26] And just because you end your season like 20 minutes early and tack on this action sequence,
[00:53:33] I'm not falling for it.
[00:53:36] Yeah, you can't trick me, Jess.
[00:53:38] Do you want to eulogize Anna, our Moulin Rouge hostess?
[00:53:43] Okay.
[00:53:44] Everybody in Paris seemed to know where this plane was.
[00:53:48] First of all, like I didn't know somebody gave her the address.
[00:53:52] She went straight there.
[00:53:53] Yeah, straight there.
[00:53:54] Down here, down this tunnel.
[00:53:56] Although not really straight there, but how did she know that you could do that for one thing?
[00:54:01] I will grant you she knows tunnels and catacombs and things like that.
[00:54:05] She probably knows the back way into this place just from having lived in Paris, you know,
[00:54:09] and maybe gone there.
[00:54:11] So I can give her the benefit of the doubt there and that, you know, she had sent her flunkies
[00:54:15] to get all the fuel and stuff. So that's true.
[00:54:18] They were delivering fuel to the plane.
[00:54:20] There was an advanced scouting going on there for her.
[00:54:22] So sure.
[00:54:24] That's a good point because they did.
[00:54:25] She didn't just give them fuel at the bar to take out to the plane.
[00:54:28] They probably had to arrange for delivery.
[00:54:30] So she probably didn't know where it was.
[00:54:31] Okay, I'll give her that.
[00:54:33] I there was no point at any point of the Anna part of this story where I felt like she was really going
[00:54:39] to deliver these people to like you knew she was taking them down the wrong path.
[00:54:45] And it was just a matter of like, well, what wrong path is she taking them down?
[00:54:49] Like what trap has she set for them?
[00:54:50] And she just lucked out that there were a whole bunch of zombies down there.
[00:54:54] Yeah, pretty much. I mean, they saw it coming to every time.
[00:54:56] She was like, all right, go ahead down that tunnel.
[00:54:58] They're like, no, you go.
[00:55:00] You know, it was very much everybody was onto it, but there was no way they could avoid it because it got so desperate to
[00:55:05] be like, ma'am, we'll kill you if you don't help me.
[00:55:07] She's like, okay, then kill me.
[00:55:08] And you're like, okay, we can't do that.
[00:55:10] That's not going to get us Laurent.
[00:55:11] You know, so they'd run out of options.
[00:55:12] They had to risk it.
[00:55:13] And she ended up sacrificing her life essentially to make sure that they didn't get a hold of Laurent, which was I guess it's good.
[00:55:20] Right. You don't want anybody to know Laurent is not the Messiah.
[00:55:23] The same time, it's kind of like what's the worst that could happen if you know Laurent is not the Messiah?
[00:55:27] You know, like they're kind of leading a murderous cult under the guise that he is the Messiah.
[00:55:32] So yeah, we lose her and we lose just into back to back.
[00:55:35] Yeah. And they, you know, they tried to do this, this, you know, flashback things to season one.
[00:55:40] We're like, oh, she had this one bonding scene with Laurent about the Eiffel Tower and she remembers it.
[00:55:45] And she, oh, maybe I shouldn't turn heel after all, because I once told him that the Eiffel Tower was pretty.
[00:55:52] Like, okay.
[00:55:54] They had a moment.
[00:55:56] They had a moment.
[00:55:57] I mean, you know, that's why she let him come to the Moulin Rouge and hang and hide and everything.
[00:56:03] But also, you know, she was the type of person who just enjoyed pissing people off.
[00:56:06] And I think it would have been more in character for me.
[00:56:09] Like it, I didn't need to be beat over the head with it.
[00:56:12] Like that. She had this moment with Laurent.
[00:56:13] She's just like, yeah, I just don't like people.
[00:56:16] And if you're going to, I know you're going to kill me anyway.
[00:56:18] So screw you guys.
[00:56:19] I would have rather she got in with that kind of very frosh attitude.
[00:56:23] Well, she's not French in point of fact.
[00:56:26] Yes, but she's in France and went in France.
[00:56:28] Yeah.
[00:56:31] Anybody else we need to eulogize from this?
[00:56:33] I think we, I feel like we touched on everybody who was coming gone in these last,
[00:56:36] in this last two seasons of The Walking Dead, Daryl Dixon.
[00:56:40] I mean, they, we got a Ezekiel name drop, but for the most part,
[00:56:43] everybody was pretty contained in this world.
[00:56:45] Um, I'm very interested to see what happens next.
[00:56:48] But yes, I think we gotta, we gotta rebuild the team.
[00:56:51] You know, we're back to square one, Daryl and Carol all by themselves.
[00:56:54] No kids, no, uh, you know, guides with them.
[00:56:57] No Cadron.
[00:56:59] We gotta bring in some new red shirts to eventually kill off.
[00:57:02] Yeah. They're going to need a new quest.
[00:57:04] So there's going to be like some other thing.
[00:57:06] It's not going to be zombie Messiah, but there'll be somebody they have to help.
[00:57:09] And they will be like, well, and it'll be another situation of like, well,
[00:57:13] we got this boat. We can take you back.
[00:57:15] We can take it back to America, but we also need your help.
[00:57:20] And then it's like, oh, well now I'm in it.
[00:57:22] Now I got to help these people forever.
[00:57:24] So I'm going to stay here and help them.
[00:57:27] And that's, that's all.
[00:57:29] That's, that's all that's going to happen next season.
[00:57:30] We know that.
[00:57:31] And we know it's probably a key list sister, right?
[00:57:35] Like they can't, they can't bring it her up.
[00:57:36] Yeah.
[00:57:37] We gotta find her at some point.
[00:57:39] Yeah. And it might even be like, you know, you're talking about,
[00:57:43] yeah, there's like two parallel stories going on.
[00:57:45] Is there an outside chance that we have three parallel stories or even we have
[00:57:50] two parallel stories and one of them is not Laurent?
[00:57:53] Like what if we're like, meanwhile, back at France, you know,
[00:57:56] we've introduced this new character, this new couple,
[00:57:58] new power couple of flu and Akilah, and they're on the quest to find the
[00:58:02] sister.
[00:58:03] And then the two paths will converge at some point.
[00:58:06] Yeah.
[00:58:07] I mean, that's fine.
[00:58:08] If you're going to be 10 episodes, but for six, Oh, it's,
[00:58:13] it's, I mean, that means that means, well, then again,
[00:58:15] they like to wrap everything up in two episodes anyway.
[00:58:17] So if you take the two episodes, just write two episodes for each of them,
[00:58:20] but you know, cut them up.
[00:58:21] So that by the time we get to episode six, we're done.
[00:58:24] Yeah.
[00:58:25] A great.
[00:58:26] Maybe that is more efficient.
[00:58:27] Tales of the walking dead.
[00:58:28] No, but listen, we've been saying we want to tails back.
[00:58:30] This is the type of thing you need for tales.
[00:58:32] The walking dead.
[00:58:32] Man, it really is.
[00:58:34] Um, so yeah, I'm, I'm interested, but I, you know,
[00:58:37] so I don't know what to believe anymore.
[00:58:39] You know, we, we, we finished this season and I thought, well,
[00:58:42] clearly there's more episodes to the season.
[00:58:44] Cause why would you end it like this?
[00:58:45] But they did.
[00:58:45] And so now we have to wait until season three comes back around so
[00:58:48] that we can find out.
[00:58:50] One is season three, the last book of the book of the last season
[00:58:54] of, uh, the walking dead, Daryl Dixon.
[00:58:55] Are we going to go back to like, is this going to be the flagship show?
[00:58:59] Are we going to have to merge everybody onto another show?
[00:59:02] Oh, you know, we have so many spinoffs, but we don't have all the walking
[00:59:04] dead proper or if you're the walking dead to put everybody on.
[00:59:07] So, you know, this could be Daryl and Carol's home for a couple more seasons
[00:59:11] if they want it to be.
[00:59:12] I'm just not sure that they could do that much longer.
[00:59:14] AJ.
[00:59:15] No, probably not.
[00:59:16] Like I said, this has one more season.
[00:59:17] And it could, well, at least in Europe, I think they have to get back
[00:59:20] home at this point.
[00:59:21] And, and like, now we have the reason for them to get back, you know,
[00:59:24] Laurence there.
[00:59:25] So we, you know, there's an urgency.
[00:59:27] Um, you know, look, you want to do a framing device and have season three be the book of
[00:59:31] Laurent and have them actually writing down like a diary of like, you know, you know,
[00:59:36] you know, so episode one, episode one, how Ash and I got to America, you know, you know,
[00:59:41] book two, the story of Daryl and Carol in London.
[00:59:45] Oh, looking for the sister.
[00:59:47] Oh, this is the gospel according to Laurent.
[00:59:51] Yes.
[00:59:52] Yeah.
[00:59:52] Okay.
[00:59:53] That could be your framing device.
[00:59:54] And then you could do your, your one episode of Daryl.
[00:59:56] Yeah.
[00:59:57] Anthology.
[00:59:58] Yeah.
[00:59:59] I mean, they'll never do it, but no, but if they listen to us, then, then please do
[01:00:04] it.
[01:00:05] I would, I would like that.
[01:00:07] Yeah.
[01:00:07] They don't take our ideas that we, they don't take our good ideas.
[01:00:10] They just, they just take note of what the really bad ideas are and then they try to,
[01:00:16] you know, pretend that they never did them.
[01:00:18] And that is when Ash and I got found by the zombie circus.
[01:00:23] Yes.
[01:00:24] I'm telling you, there's something there.
[01:00:26] The traveling circus of zombie performers.
[01:00:28] There's something there.
[01:00:29] I mean, otherwise, what do we have to look forward to?
[01:00:31] We really don't know what's coming next.
[01:00:33] Like all the shows are separate still, you know, there's no world where Daryl and Carol
[01:00:37] are going to run into Rick and Michonne in Europe.
[01:00:38] Uh, not to, we, not that we know of.
[01:00:41] Right.
[01:00:41] Um, we also don't think Andrew Lincoln would prefer that.
[01:00:44] Yeah.
[01:00:46] Yeah.
[01:00:46] He can use his real accent.
[01:00:48] He can use his real voice.
[01:00:49] Yeah.
[01:00:49] That would be nice.
[01:00:50] What if it's like, what if it's like Rick's twin brother.
[01:00:53] Yeah.
[01:00:53] He's a friend at birth.
[01:00:54] He's British.
[01:00:55] I'm Nick Grimes.
[01:00:57] Yeah.
[01:00:59] He's British.
[01:01:00] Yeah.
[01:01:00] Yeah.
[01:01:01] Yeah.
[01:01:01] Yeah.
[01:01:03] That will work out.
[01:01:04] Jess, is there anything else from this episode or from this season?
[01:01:07] Uh, we're done from this season of the walking dead, Daryl Dixon.
[01:01:11] God, I think we've, we've talked about this so much.
[01:01:14] We've, we've covered so much ground here.
[01:01:16] And I think we've come up with many good ideas.
[01:01:19] And I, I like the, I like the walking dead think tank that, that always comes out of
[01:01:24] these where we look at like the narrative shortfall and we figure out how to fix it.
[01:01:29] I think that's my favorite part.
[01:01:30] Yeah.
[01:01:31] I was thinking of some off season content one time I was like, or maybe at the end of
[01:01:35] a podcast, we could just like have a segment where we just said, Hey, let's think, take
[01:01:38] these zombies.
[01:01:39] We've done explosive zombies.
[01:01:40] We've done, you know, uh, the, the, the luminescent zombies at this point.
[01:01:44] Like how else can we spice these zombies up?
[01:01:46] Cause you have to know the writers and the producers are sitting around having these same
[01:01:49] conversations, right?
[01:01:50] Like we've had the ones that, you know, can, can sleep.
[01:01:53] We've had the ones that can climb.
[01:01:54] The ones can run really fast.
[01:01:56] What else can we do to these zombies to make them cool?
[01:01:59] And so, uh, yeah, this is definitely the conversation that we have here on this podcast.
[01:02:03] So I love talking about the show with y'all too.
[01:02:05] Honestly, I don't even know what I would be talking like who I would be talking about
[01:02:08] the show with, if it wasn't for you two, because it seems like the walking dead just left us
[01:02:11] on this fandom on an Island.
[01:02:13] Uh, AJ, we're just by ourselves, just talking through whatever wacky twists and turns that
[01:02:17] they give us.
[01:02:18] Yeah. We're on an Island.
[01:02:19] And the only way off is through a channel.
[01:02:21] Yeah.
[01:02:21] And we've decided not to go.
[01:02:24] Yeah.
[01:02:24] I, you cannot convince me that it's a good idea to go in the channel.
[01:02:28] I'll just stay here forever and talk about the walking dead.
[01:02:30] It's a bad idea.
[01:02:31] It is a bad idea, but we will be here regardless.
[01:02:34] As long as you two will come back, I will be here to talk about the walking dead with you.
[01:02:37] Whenever this has been so much fun.
[01:02:39] Thank you all for listening to the zombie kick back here to, to keep up with our walking
[01:02:44] dead coverage.
[01:02:44] We took a break, but we couldn't stay away long because we got to talk about this wacky
[01:02:48] show.
[01:02:48] We got to talk about these walkers.
[01:02:50] Uh, and then, uh, you know, make sure you all join us for next time when we come back
[01:02:53] to talk about one of these iterations of the walking dead, whichever one comes back
[01:02:57] first, I guess we'll be there.
[01:02:58] Uh, but in the meantime, AJ, what you got going on?
[01:03:02] Colonious pundits with Cantad's fence guard criminal minds rewatch.
[01:03:05] Ask for it by name.
[01:03:07] Yeah.
[01:03:08] And, uh, Jess, what about you?
[01:03:10] Well, I started the sub stack that I was going to be updating when I didn't have podcasts

[01:03:42] I don't update any of that stuff.
[01:03:44] I should really start doing that more, but you know, maybe we've got time now that the walking
[01:03:47] dead season is over and we got more of the walking dead coming our way soon.
[01:03:50] We don't know how soon, but whenever it happens, we will be here.
[01:03:53] So for AJ and for Jess and for Josh, wherever you are for Lou, come back, come back.
