[00:00:20] Hey what's up fam and welcome back again to Recap Kickback. It's me your host Chappell and we are back again to talk about the final installment, hopefully, of the Why Did I Get Married franchise. That's right. We talked about Why Did I Get Married. We talked about Why Did I Get Married 2 and we finally got to Netflix's Why Did I Get Married Again. And with me to talk about the finale of this trilogy, I think, is Mari Forth. Welcome back.
[00:00:47] Chappelle, I love that we are just ready for this franchise to be done because there were, listen, I like this a lot better than the second movie, right? And the bar is low but I liked it a lot better. But I think there's a lot for us to wade through here in this third movie. And not all of it's great, but there were some parts that I really liked. So let's get into it.
[00:01:16] Can I say something bold and courageous and maybe a little bit alcohol influenced? I don't know if I like this better than the second one. Really? I mean, the second one is objectively bad. It's bad. No, it's bad. It's bad. It's not objective. It's bad. What did you... It's bad. I just feel like the second one is such a derailment from the first. Like the first one is the best one, right? Yeah, by far. By far, yeah.
[00:01:46] But it's the one that started it. There's a reason we loved it. It's got iconic moments in it, not just the table scene, but obviously the table scene is like, what got us here? Uh huh. I feel like the third one is a little more sensible than the second. The second one was pissing me off left and right.
[00:02:07] Yeah. But see, that's... I think that's why I'm drawn to the second one because although I will say that it is bad product, okay? Not great. The third one is probably better, like, better, uh, like formed. It's probably, you know, like the storyline is probably better mapped out. Tyler was doing his thing. Cool.
[00:02:25] But it doesn't have a moment for me. Like, for me, the first movie, we all talk about the dinner scene, right? And then if you want to go from there, you can, like Sheila, you know, traveling up the mountain by herself, getting put off the plane. Like there are so many iconic moments there. The perfect Patty argument in the house, like all those things. The second one, the rock showed up. Like, you know what I'm saying? Like crazy shit was happening in the second one.
[00:02:51] I thought you were going to mention the, uh, the golf club scene. I mean, Gavin getting hit by a car as well. Like there, there were moments that may be like, you know, where the good of that? I was definitely shocked that it happened. Yeah. This time around, it just felt a little tame for the group that I'm used to. That's all.
[00:03:14] They're old now. They're, that's like the theme of it. They're like, they're, they're all the old heads now. And they have, uh, we're, we're, do we, I almost don't want to manifest this, but I feel like we have to address the elephant in the room. It's Tyler Perry trying to make the way for the new generation of why did I get married? Because I feel like no one was going into this movie for the kids subplots, right?
[00:03:44] Obviously the main setting is that they are around, uh, Angela and Mark Marcus's daughter's wedding. That's the big piece of it. But there was a lot, there was a lot more involvement with the kids than what I thought there was going to be going into the movie.
[00:04:00] And it almost feels like there, maybe there was not a plan for it necessarily, but a possibility. Like they want to, he wants to have the possibility available to kind of usher in some of these new cast members or to do another storyline with like the kids of the original couples. And why did I get married?
[00:04:20] I could see that like a, like a backdoor pilot, you know, this went in and then see how people like it. And then say, okay, well now we're going to send the kids to Hawaii or something like that. Um, I could see that. Um, cause throughout the movie, I was thinking like, yeah, we're getting a lot of the kids, but I don't really know them.
[00:04:37] Um, and so I don't, I'm not as invested. And I also started to think that I would love to see this friend group actually going out and having a good time. Like, uh, like put them in one of those Adam Sandler type movies, you know, the ones where he just flies all his friends across the world and they just go do crazy shenanigans the whole time. I mean, is that not what this was for Tyler Perry is that he brought all his friends to Italy? I mean, did they really go to Italy? Because I'm hoping they did.
[00:05:05] I don't, I mean, they might not have, but I think the, uh, I don't, well, okay. So this is the other piece of this. I'm about to go on a little tangent. This movie was filmed in four days. This is, it was like one of the things I read about the movie in like the first few weeks. It takes at least eight hours to get to Italy. I know, but like, is that, does that count? I just say, I like, like, did they count the fly time into this or they,
[00:05:35] did they actually go to Italy or did they get a set? Like we went to Atlanta. It doesn't really look like that. Like the Italy. Yeah. You know, I think, I think it's easy to do. And I won't say easy. Like I can do it, but I think that it's, uh, efficient the way that they shot the movie because the first half of the movie is almost completely inside of Marcus's and, and Tasha's house. Um, this huge mansion that they have.
[00:06:04] That's the first half of the movie. The second half is Como. There's a one little part in the movie where they go to the club. And there's a part where they're like at the weight bench. That's it. That's it. Every, they only, they only had a couple of locations. You could film the, the Rosalind and all the breakout scenes in different rooms and then just come back into the same building. So there wasn't a lot of set pieces, you know, there wasn't a lot of big moments, you know, the first one,
[00:06:34] they're like in the cold, they're going to the cabin, but they're also in the, in the day, you know, they, you could tell they had to film it at different times. Uh, this. Yeah. You do a little weekend, get away to Italy. And I think you could wrap this one up. I think you've got a good point on here. Like it doesn't like, if you're thinking about the actual plot of the movie, you know, it's kind of like, it's not really, uh, what's the word? Like, it's just,
[00:07:04] it doesn't need to be something that took like weeks and weeks to make. Mm. Mm. Yeah. You could, you could really wrap, knock this out very quickly. I think that for me, I was enjoying the story, but I was waiting on something big. I was waiting on some, like some big drama. Now don't get me wrong. There was little bits of drama, right? Throughout. Um, we'll, we could talk about Marcus jr as the chaos agent that he is. Uh, but aside from that, you know, I mean, we got the,
[00:07:33] the kind of like flashback, which was really cool. I think that was kind of like the coolest moment, but even that I thought, well, damn, we can't like, we didn't have the same type of energy this time around. Like even the reveal, it was kind of, you know, it wasn't the same as like the boom moment. So I don't know. It didn't really feel like a reveal to me. Cause I feel like they've been kind of tiptoeing around it for the entire movie, you know? And there were signs. I'm excited to talk about the new,
[00:08:01] the new presences coming into this movie though. Oh, okay. Let's, uh, let's do that. So, I did get some slides for us. I think, um, I try to, I try to have visual aids when I can. Um, so I'm just going to click randomly and that's who we'll talk about. So, um, it looks like first on our list is, well, we're not going to talk about him. Uh, no, respectfully. Uh, I don't, I don't know.
[00:08:29] Denver didn't have much going on. This was the other, this is one of the other things where it was like, I, Hey Kenya and Denver. Cause Denver did the kindest thing you could do in this movie and be quiet. The whole stayed out the way. I know these people.
[00:08:53] I know he has heard rants from his dad about how crazy all of these people are and that he married in to this insane family. He knew when to keep his mouth shut. Does Denver have one character moment outside of silence throughout the entire film? I think he's just like, he's there as support at the beginning for his mom. Like, you know, we get the, the introductions that like Sheila is taking care of her mom who, uh,
[00:09:23] we later learn has Alzheimer's. Um, but Denver is just more like they, I feel like they brought him there because they knew that they needed, like they needed to have their kids, like Sheila and Troy's kids there. But I can't think of anything where they actually. Like did anything with him. He's just kind of there. And I think that's kind of sad because like, I feel like he could have with,
[00:09:51] with the different energies we get from compared TJ to Marcus jr. And Wes, Denver could be a good middle ground person. And it seems like his family just kind of dragged him along, which is also very possible knowing his parents. Yeah. Cause we know Troy didn't want to be there. Troy didn't want to be there. Um, he said, if I gotta be here, you gotta be here. If anything, Denver is like the peacekeeper. Um, you know, like, like you mentioned, um, Sheila's mom has Alzheimer's.
[00:10:20] And so Sheila's taking a lot of photos and her and Troy really don't have a lot of drama. Of course their drama is always Mike related. And you know, the big question that we'll have later on and discuss later on is why is Mike even here? But in the meantime, we do need to talk about another child. Yes. Oh, what do you, what do you have there? This is the, one of the promotional posters for the movie. So there's one with the parents, all, and then, and Mike, and then this is the one with all the kids. Okay. Yeah.
[00:10:50] So that does definitely look like it could be like the poster for whatever the next movie is or TV series or whatever the case may be. what I'm thinking of. Like they do, they are highlighting the kids in the promotions. They made sure to give them some scenes. So even if we don't get, we didn't get it really any Denver in this movie, like bare minimum, they made sure to include him because they kind of needed to. Um, but everybody else in there,
[00:11:15] like could definitely see a world where like they're kind of setting stuff up for a future, especially with Tyler Perry, probably staying in a Netflix deal for a good amount of time. Yeah. He's in there for life. Uh, and, uh, speaking of Tyler Perry, uh, we have Terry and Diane's son, TJ, who just seems like the nicest person surrounded by a bunch of awful people. I love TJ. Like what an angel. So sweet.
[00:11:45] Nothing happening behind those eyes. Like no thoughts, just sip in his fruity little drinks. And I mean that in the most affectionate way possible. It's like this, like I feel maternal towards him. Chappelle, like this is our, this is a child. Yeah. TJ is a source of drama in this, uh, movie because, uh, throughout Terry is going to start feeling a little bit shaded by everybody because they keep talking about how consistent he is and how, uh,
[00:12:13] predictable he is and basically calling him boring. And then that, that kind of trickles over to people talking about TJ and that he's not out here chasing after girls. He's very quiet and polite. And they're like, yeah, you could tell Terry raised him cause he's kind of boring too. And so by the end of this, Terry is going to punch Mike in the face. Uh, and you know, for talking trash about TJ. And when I tell you that punch was so long overdue,
[00:12:39] why did it take y'all 28 years to punch this man? Troy got it in early, but, but that was when he had cancer kind of like we weren't supposed to. Yeah. I still was. I still was. I'll take it. I'll take it. I'll take it. But this was, this was deserved. This was deserved here. Um, and I, but I, I'm not saying this doesn't happen, but like, this was again, Terry annoying me as usual. Um, you know, you're,
[00:13:08] you wanted a son so bad. You have the son that is not getting into the drama that. Wes and Marcus jr. Are getting into. And then you're like, Oh, like, do you think we did a good job? What do you mean? We did like. What your state, your steak is too juicy. Your lobster too buttery. Like, no problems now. Like. Yeah. Your son's well behaved. Your kids are happy. He brought it to Sheila. I was sorry to Diane. He's like, yeah. So,
[00:13:38] um, you know, you think we could have done differently. And she's like, who told you that? He says, well, you know, Marcus said it. And Mike said, she's like, are you hearing yourself? That should have been your first clue. Right. If Mike said it, you should disregard it. Immediately. Why? First of all, Mike shouldn't even be here. Why are you taking advice from him? Mike shouldn't even be here. Well, I cannot wait to get to Mike. Um, and then of course, Marcus, Marcus, his child is out here doing some crazy stuff throughout this entire weekend. And we're going to have a lot to say about him. Jerry, be for real.
[00:14:08] Like, I get that. I get he's a kid, but like, they're not really kids. They're probably like in their twenties. 19. Yeah. 18s, early twenties in here. Like none of this, like none of this is like outlandish behavior. Um, but I think y'all are a little crazy. Like you, you're worried about the wrong thing. Like you should not be, if anything, Marcus should be like, Hey, maybe spend some more time with TJ. Right. Um, but you know, I did.
[00:14:38] I, and this is me. This is me being toxic. I did chuckle a little bit when like one of Marcus's retorts were like, like did the little, like that was funny. I'm sorry. I'm not going to lie to you. Mike, Mike made me laugh a few times, but I was chuckling and then having to catch myself. Cause you know, when the worst person, you know, makes a good point. That's kind of with him on that. Yep. I did. I did let out a chuckle. Mike, Mike is a lot,
[00:15:06] but he also can be funny sometimes. And unfortunately I did catch me a couple of times in this movie. Yeah. So next up is Kenya. I believe, uh, who I will say this about Kenya. She didn't have a lot, but what I will say is that she seems to be one of the only people that has ever come in contact with these people who can keep a secret. This woman knew about the drama between Jasmine and Wesley the entire time. And she did not tell anybody.
[00:15:35] And she was loyal to her friend. And, and, and her, she advocated for her friend when they were thinking that she was getting abused, but she never just blurted out the answer. She said, trust me, I got it. I know. I would tell y'all. I said, who raised this child? Cause it could have been any of these people. It's not, that is not Diane's daughter. It's not Diane's daughter. Diane. Diane must've been really hands-on in this one. Yes. Yeah. And then I will, and she did defend her brother on the, on the plane. I wrote,
[00:16:05] I forgot. I didn't really pay attention to, originally to like the age of all of them, but Kenya is definitely older than TJ because TJ is the baby. TJ is the baby. So that kind of makes sense. Marcus and Jasmine are probably around the same ages. And then Denver would be the youngest because he was just a baby. Like TJ was already kind of a toddler when the second movie came around. And then Denver, I think was just a baby.
[00:16:36] So Denver would be the youngest in this group. Oh yeah. Yeah. Yeah. But it does make sense. You know, she kind of has a little bit of a protective vibe over TJ without it being like overwhelming, which I like, I think like if, if they were to do another movie with like the kids, I think like Kenya would be taking on that, like that are not Diane, the Terry role of like being like the most grounded character. Like she might have her slip ups, but overall she is like the,
[00:17:05] like almost matriarch of the group. Like very crazy, which is crazy, but that is Diane and Terry's child. Exactly. And we find out she can't keep a man. I mean, that was literally the only thing we found out about her. Cause she, you know, ready for that. Marcus jr. Was ready. He had it on his tongue. He had the names too. That is his, that is Angela's. I think he, he's technically her stepson, but like he got,
[00:17:34] he got the Angela gene in there. Yeah. I really haven't figured out the DNA of these people because first of all, stop calling everybody your uncle. I love a play cousin and a play uncle, but Mike cannot be our uncle. Mike cannot be mathematically Mike is not your uncle. Cause Sheila is your aunt. And, and Mike and Sheila, we, that's not a, yeah, you got to pick sides. We don't, we don't claim Mike. Yeah. You don't get to be, you don't get to be standing in front of me telling me that this man abused you. And I'm supposed to call him uncle. Oh, wait,
[00:18:05] I have another point on this. They are way too concerned about the wrong things here because why? When we'll, we'll get to this too. But this point made me wonder. First of all, again, because of that reason, Mike should not be here. Right? Like, what are you all thinking? Decorum my ass, but also, also, also, also when Roslyn, I was about to call her Taraji. When Roslyn is sitting there with all the girls talking about, um,
[00:18:34] Wes and like, he's a good kid. He just has anger issues and stuff like that. That's not sending an alarm off in Angela's head. Like, that's who your daughter is marrying. Oh, he just has some anger issues. Right. Get your gun. Get your gun. I know you can get one in Italy. Like, I know you can get one. Yeah. I think in whatever the sequel is going to be, we'll get a lot more of Jasmine's personality because she does go out of her way to talk about, to say that like,
[00:19:03] she's more like her mom than you would think. Um, and you know, we will, of course, they are kind of flagging the big reveal for that one. But I agree. Like we hear, we find out about Wesley and Wesley for him to be the groom. He is pretty low on the pyramid for me. Wesley sucks. I don't care. I don't care. I don't care. Wesley. And of the kids, my dishonorable mentions were, uh, Marcus jr. And Wes, both. Yeah. Both.
[00:19:31] And I can't even rank one over the other because they were both, both awful in their own way. Okay. So Wes is the child of Taraji, AKA Rosalyn. And he, his biggest issue here. One is yeah. Yeah. He's got some anger issues for sure. Him and Jasmine are definitely going to have some beef and we'll, you know, that will save that conversation for later. But the way he is acting toward his mother. In public. In public.
[00:19:58] Because his daddy then turned her against him. I mean, he turned him against her. I get it. You were upset with her, but Oh my God, you should have just told her not to come to the wedding. You should have said, do not come to my wedding at all because I'm going to be rude to you the entire time. Every chance he got, he was a jerk. And it took them having to literally sit him down and yell at him that addicts lie about four times before he finally said, Oh, maybe I don't know what's going on here. And he's like, what?
[00:20:28] 24. I think he says is how old he is in this movie. Yeah. Yeah. He didn't pick up on signs of that by like 24 that like your mom's at all of this stuff and your dad isn't. And like, there are some, at some point there are signs. And even. Oh no, no, no, Gia, please let me interrupt. There are no signs because these people, as much as they tell each other business, somehow their kids oblivious. All the kids just lost. How? They, that, that is true because for real though, why are they all like,
[00:20:58] we want marriages just like yours? Cause you guys are so perfect. I know damn well. That is a lie. You cannot tell me that them kids lived, lived with Tasha and Marcus. Yeah. And they had a perfect relationship. There's no way. I can excuse Denver. Maybe thinking this about his, about Troy and Sheila, right? Denver gets a pass. Diane and Terry's kids. Them kids get a pass. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Denver has a right to be stupid. And you know what? He kept his mouth. He gets it.
[00:21:28] He kept his mouth closed. That's our Denver. We love him. The TJ and Kenya and MJ and Jasmine, you all have no excuse. You know who your parents are. There's no way you don't know who your parents are. There's no way there. There's just no way you can't, you can hear Angela and Marcus. I mean, yeah. Walking into the, um, into the, the, the airport from a mile away. They watched her,
[00:21:57] their mom cuss him out on TV in the second movie. They did on live television. On live television. And somehow. They came home to bullet holes in their bedroom at that day. You can't tell me they didn't know that. They didn't know anything. That's why I said, I have to stop you right there. None of these kids know anything. And that's crazy to me. That was a crazy moment. And like, even the parents themselves, uh, looked like had the, uh, had the right, uh, idea being like, they're,
[00:22:27] they're not talking about us. Are they? Right. Like, but also like, like, I'd be concerned if I was like, you're, you're all in your twenties thinking your parents are perfect. There's something wrong with you. Yeah, exactly. Um, I know my parents weren't perfect very early on. I guess they just didn't try to hide it as much, but I just don't believe that these people, again, these people can't keep a secret. We get the memo real quick. Oh yeah, exactly. This is the PSA.
[00:22:57] I do love my parents. I think they are, uh, you know, pretty close to perfect, but you know, they like, we learn, we learn. Yeah. Nobody's perfect in my book, but they're perfect for me. Exactly. You know, listen, flaws and all. Yeah. They were not perfect for each other, which I think helps when you have the parents that are not, not together, you know, like they are, you know, only time separate, but equal works, but, uh, but, uh, they, you know,
[00:23:26] like they were perfect for me and that's the thing that matters. Uh, but you learn, you learn pretty early on. Maybe these kids were a little too sheltered and you know, they, they're all pretty well off. So I think that might be money makes you dumb. I think that's it. Yeah. And speaking of dumb, we have to talk about Marcus Jr. The, the, the man, there's nothing up here. There's nothing in the brain. There's nothing in the skull. He's, he's just driven by as primal urges. It's very,
[00:23:54] it is very reminiscent of his dad. And throughout the entire movie, Angela's going to be on his ass throughout the entire movie. She's on, but she's on Marcus seniors ass because Marcus Jr. turned out to be just like Marcus senior. But again, y'all telling me that this boy had no clue. His daddy was acting like that. So where did he get these actions from? Is it just the DNA? Is it in the blood? As Jeff Probst would say, is it really genetic? Right. Um, this man, this man is a, he's so funny. I will,
[00:24:24] I will say this. The idea of him is funny. Yeah. But why, sir? The first time we see you really have a conversation, you're talking to the, the groom, you're the best man in the wedding. He's marrying your sister. And you're telling him, maybe you shouldn't do that. Maybe don't marry my sister. Don't do that. I mean, it's a day before the wedding. The people are flying to Italy in the morning and he's telling her not telling his boy not to get married. If that boy didn't walk down that aisle,
[00:24:54] somebody should have shot this boy. He was fake as hell showing up to the wedding as the best man. The next day, I just like, you didn't tell them. It's still, there's still time to pull out. There's still time. There's still time. Do you really want to be changed to my sister for the rest of your life? Like, what? That's crazy. Like, fake as hell. But you know what? I have a feeling this is not the first time Marcus has had this conversation with, uh, West. So I'll give him a pass here. Usually, you know, they drop a hint a couple of times.
[00:25:24] Yeah. Um, yeah. Marcus is trying to get West to not get married, but then we'll see other things from Marcus as well, because, um, he spots Mike with Mike's new girlfriend who apparently had a, a prior relationship with Marcus to some extent. And instead of being a normal human and maybe, you know, dropping some hints and then setting up something for after Italy, you know, no, no, you, he's ready to get it in right now with all of his relatives, uh, just feet away. Um,
[00:25:53] he sends a picture of his junk while sitting on the plane next to all his play cousins and his sister. Yes. The boy ain't right. Not right at all. In the, uh, economy class. This, they weren't even in the good class. They were back there in five people in a row and he pulled out his thing. Yep. You are, you are in a sardine can at this point,
[00:26:21] whipping out your person, your member with everybody that could pop. That's how you get on a no fly list. That's exactly how you do it. I have a tiny issue with them flying and, you know, in, in my seats. Um, you mean to tell me all the parents got to ride it up front where the fancy and the rich reside, but none of nobody thought maybe we should let the bride and groom ride up here as well. No, we couldn't.
[00:26:51] That part, that part also did get me. Cause like the kids themselves, I think like the kids that were not getting married, that makes sense. Right? Right. Put them in the back. Okay. You guys, this isn't your day. You got, this is not your money that bought these tickets. Like you guys can stay in the back, you know, like this is read the room, but Jasmine and, uh, Jasmine and Wes aren't getting, Wes did not deserve a seat. At the very least, Jasmine deserved.
[00:27:22] Rosalyn knew what she was doing, uh, keeping Wesley, uh, with the community folks, but Jasmine deserved a first class seat. She's the bride. Yeah. I just thought it was so weird. I said, you got the, the, the bride back here with the, with the plebs like me. I know it probably had to do with like the filming of everything that they were like, okay, we need the kids together. All together. From the parents, but also like, you know, like, and it makes sense that the parents,
[00:27:50] cause the parents are so well off that they would get these first class seats. And you're not, you're making the bride fly to Italy in economy. When you're in first class. That's it's a flex. It's a flex. A choice was made. And I don't think Jasmine needed to be in that scene. You know? Yeah. He could have been chilling with the, I know damn well, Mike's girlfriend, uh, the hoe as Angela said, got a first class seat.
[00:28:21] And the bride did not. That's crazy. Cause, and this was so out of character. Cause you know, Angela would have been like, why is she get, why is the bride not getting a seat? But the hoe is. And I'm only saying that. Cause that's how, uh, you know, Angela, you know, I'm going to direct quote from the film. Yep. I am going by, uh, her Christian name that Angela episode upon her. Um, however, I, I am baffled. I'm simply baffled by this decision. Um, the, another,
[00:28:51] uh, tire part of the Tyler Perry universe. Mm hmm. Mm hmm. So we have to talk about what Marcus then goes and does. Uh, sorry. Uh, yeah. Marcus jr. Uh, he then, uh, sends a text message to this woman and tells her to meet him in the bathroom. They're going to join the mile high club, but not in the back in the, in the coach bathroom. No, no, no bathroom. Not in the poorest bathroom. He's going to come up to the front. Now. There should be a curtain or something like that. You should get back on in the back.
[00:29:20] This is why we don't let y'all up here. This is, this is why they don't let people like us up there. Cause you don't know how to act. Get in the back. The audacity of him to walk right by his parents and his many aunts and uncles to go join the mile high club and thinking that nobody's going to notice. And then like two seconds later, the other girl comes in Regina. That's her name. Regina goes in and like acting like this was not going to, what was your plan? That's how I know. What was the plan?
[00:29:49] There was no plan. There were no concepts of a plan here. No thoughts, no thoughts behind those eyes. Just only, only shenanigans. That's it. That's it. So, after he goes to meet her in the bathroom, of course, Angela finally is activated. She shuts it down. Regina, get your ass back in the back where you belong. Go to the other restroom. And so Angela goes to the restroom and finds him in there in a compromising position. She says she's going to threaten,
[00:30:18] she threatened to zip up his little ass balls so that he couldn't have any little Marcus's. Crazy to yell that on an airplane, to shout that on an airplane in first class. She's done worse at an airport. So that's true. The fact that she can even get on a plane. It is remarkable. Insane. The fact that they didn't make them take a train to Italy. I don't know how they would have done it, but I'm sure they could have made it happen. Yeah. Another glowing Marcus moment, of course, is when,
[00:30:48] you know, he is found in a compromising position with Regina in the bedroom while the entire dinner, the bridal dinner is happening. Insane. Insane. Insane. Insane. And with all the parents just hanging out downstairs. I would not. Uncle Mike. I, I couldn't even bring like, bring myself to have like a significant other in the same space as my family. Like,
[00:31:17] even in the same, like the same sitting area. And you're doing all that at your sister's rehearsal dinner. Hell. Yeah. This man is a mess. And yeah, Angela, of course, catches him and shuts it down. She did a, she did a lot of the Lord's work in this film, but she, she kept blaming Marcus senior. You know, every time something would happen with Marcus junior, you could tell she was just like, this is your fault. This is your fault. I should have never let you get away with all those times you were cheating on me.
[00:31:45] And now your son's out here cheating and you need to talk to him. And I need to know what you're going to tell them because I don't trust you. It's a wonder that Angela and my Marcus stayed together for so long. But as we agreed last episode of our recaps, they have to stay together because they can't be with anybody else. No, they can't bring their, everything they are to other people. Like other people don't deserve that. They need to stick together. And I still stand by that in this third movie.
[00:32:16] We got to talk about Jasmine. We haven't really touched on her and this is going to lead us to our big reveal. What's up? So pretty. She is. She reminds me of Davon. I don't know why I can't unsee it. I think, you know what it is? It's like the middle part in her hair and it's got that same, like wait, the waves at the end. It does give Davon in like the best way possible. Right. Absolutely. I just found myself half the time just being like, she's stunning. Like gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous.
[00:32:46] I am so, I almost thought they were going to just not go through the wedding with the wedding at the end, because even by the end of this movie, I'm like, why did Wes and Jasmine get married? We don't see any moments of them being happy together, even being like a couple. Really? We get like one scene of them arguing. We get the wedding, but like, we don't, I don't know why Jasmine likes Wes or why Wes likes Jasmine. Like we, I don't know anything really about either of their personalities,
[00:33:16] except for Wes's anger issues. I mean, that's the name of the movie. Why did I get married? We asked this every single time. I thought, you know, it was going to be a reflective question, you know, where you, you watch the movie and you look back and you say, oh, that's why I got married. You know, you answer the question. Most times we leave these movies saying, no, seriously. Why did you, why did you get married? Because yeah, when we find out the drama here, right, they've been tiptoeing around it. There's been slow buildup.
[00:33:42] So it first kind of leaks out that I think Eagle Eye Diane kind of peeps, peeps it at first. She's like, you know what I'm saying? They're not really affectionate, the two of them. And so they start keeping an eye on it. And then little tidbits of information starts to slip out. You know, they're like, oh, Sheila has gotten a phone call from Jasmine in the past, where in the, background, she can hear Wes just screaming at her. And so she was concerned that there might be some abuse. Of course, Jasmine told her that there was none, but people, people lie about being abused all the time.
[00:34:11] And so she, she can't trust it. So her and Diane are kind of on watch throughout and they are trying to identify if they should tell anybody else. They finally get the call that something's going down. No, I don't even think they got the call. They just happened to be at the club when they, Oh, you know what? Yeah. Yeah. Sheila told Diane that they like, that she got a phone call before. And then they decided they need to go for a drive. Yeah. They went,
[00:34:41] they went for a drive, ended up at the club and they end up walking up on Jasmine and, uh, Wesley arguing. And in this moment, she looks jumps right to like, okay. So clearly this man has been abusing you. Sheila jacks him up. Incredible. I think this is the, this is the movie's moment. I think. I think so. I'm trying to save your life. Oh,
[00:35:10] that was great. That was a great. Wesley's like, I promise you, I have not hit this woman. And everybody's like, yes, you have. He's like, but I swear, I'm not. You are lying. And they're going to kill you because of it. He even. It's not how you talk about your mom at the rehearsal dinner. I do not believe you. Now. Okay. Now you want to talk about a red flag, Angela, you watching this man disrespect his mama left and right. You might want to tell Jasmine like, Hey, if he treat his mama like this.
[00:35:39] Who paid for all of this, mind you. Right. And who also raised him while his daddy was out doing God knows what. Um, what do you think he's going to do with you? If things get bad, they were all way too nonchalant about this wedding for my liking. Like. Even Marcus, who like had his big moment at the end where he's like, I need to give you the low down before you actually go through with it. I just feel like between the two of them,
[00:36:07] they're way too vigilant and headstrong. And parents to just be like, I'm sure it'll be fine. Oh, well, we gotta, we gotta work this out. You tell me Angela didn't pick up on the red flags or didn't think that like, maybe my daughter shouldn't be marrying a guy that disrespects his mom. Like openly in public. Yeah. Like, and also who his mom herself admits has anger issues. Like maybe that's something I would be concerned about.
[00:36:37] At least talk about it. At least talk about it. You know, I'm not saying shut the wedding down. You could, but I'm not saying shut the wedding down. I was saying shut the wedding down. It's like, yeah, y'all need time to resolve all of this before you got. And I think that's the problem I kind of have with like the resolution of the movie. I almost wonder if it would be better for them to not get married and wait for it. Obviously, like wait to see if this is actually what you want. Cause you like, again, we don't see them actually be a couple. We, I don't even know why these two like each other.
[00:37:07] Yeah. Well, let's get to the big drama here. So, um, they tell, they tell Diane and Sheila not to tell anybody. So of course, Diane immediately goes and tells Terry. Immediately. With like, no, I'm not telling anybody, but I'm telling Terry and Terry, of course, predictable as he is says, well, I got to tell Marcus and Angela. Marcus. No, no, you don't. No, you don't. No, you don't. No, you don't.
[00:37:37] No, you don't. You don't have to tell them anything. The reason that girl came to you in confidence. She's telling you not to worry about it. Your own daughter. Kenya even said like, Hey, it's cool. I promise. Yeah. But Terry, like, nah, we got it. I got to go tell. I got to go tell. So of course this secret is not going to be kept for long. Um, but the real big issue here is that, um, we found out that Mike's, uh, girlfriend, child bride, she found out about what was happening.
[00:38:06] She saw it at the club and she told Mike, and if you check the room for the messiest bitch, you know, probably Mike. And so, uh, when Mike is alerted to the idea that, um, well, when he comes across the photo of Marcus jr. In his girl's phone, he knows what he has to do. He has to ruin Jasmine's wedding. Why you have to ruin Jasmine's wedding? Because her brother is sleeping with your girlfriend. I don't know. What did Jasmine do to you?
[00:38:36] He stays telling everybody secrets. I feel like that was the long and short of it, but like, also again, why is he here? This could all be avoided. Why is he or his child bride here? That's the question I want to know, because they even mentioned it at some point. Someone asked like, who invited him? Who invited him? I'm like, he, his name was, and then someone like, they want to be like, you know, he just like shows up. Like, that's what he does. His name was on a place card. Yeah.
[00:39:06] So I put together that, cause he's Mark, Mike, Mike says a very weird thing in this, in this movie. He says, I'm sorry, Rosalind. Are you still mad at me? Because I took Harvey's side in the divorce. I'm sorry. You took the addict side in the divorce as he took this woman for half her money. I'm, I mean, are we shocked? No, but that led me to believe that Harvey probably invited him to the wedding, you know, through Wesley. Um, and you know,
[00:39:35] because Wesley is under the misconception that his dad is going to be there. Spoiler alert. He will not. Uh, and so, um, I'm sure he invited his dad's friend. And, uh, why did I get married again? Again? Yeah. Um, why did I get a vow renewal or something? Whatever the next one is. I want to meet Wes's dad. I just need to see. I need to see who Tyler Perry is picking to play him. I'm more than anything else.
[00:40:05] Honestly, if we could swap Mike out for him, I'm fine. I need a new villain. I need a new villain. Cause at this point, Mike just feels redundant. I think the problem is that Mike actor is really well liked. He's so good. I think like, first of all, the actor's fantastic in it. He is so funny. He like, every time a new movie or a Tyler Perry production comes up, he makes another video talking about how he has to apologize. He's like 20 years later. He's still apologizing for making Sheila drive up that mountain.
[00:40:34] I have to assume that the actor that plays him is like, is very well liked by this cast. I doubt they are actually going to get rid of him. If they do another movie like this, like he's that he seems like a phenomenon. Like, I don't know this man. He seems like a great guy in real life, or at least like somebody that is well liked by the other cast members. It seems like a fun group to be in the outtakes at the very end of the movie. We're so funny. I don't know if you got a chance to watch some of them, but yeah,
[00:41:04] they were great. I feel like they're, unless the actor himself doesn't want to do them anymore. I have a feeling they're going to keep bringing him back. If they, if they do continue this series. Yeah. I mean, I love Richard T Jones and everything he's ever done. He's so good. But Mike is, I'm tired of Mike. I'm tired of Mike. If you're going to do a spinoff with the kids, you don't need Mike for that. You got Marcus Jr. He's, he's just as messy as Mike. Yeah, I know they're going to bring him back though. They're going to keep bringing Mike back because people,
[00:41:34] and people love to make fun of Mike. Mike's, Mike's always spilling secrets. Who the hell's inviting Mike? Like Mike, they're bringing Mike back. We're going to, we're stuck with Mike probably for the rest of our lives. Mike and his new hair. So he tells us that he has been taking supplements and he's biologically 34, even though he's in his fifties. And so that's made his hair grow back. He would be one of those biohacking people. Absolutely. Absolutely. He's got money in time. So what else is he going to do? He's bounced back from cancer,
[00:42:04] but he's still a messy bitch. And so when he finds out that Marcus is messing around with his girlfriend, he decides to make a toast at the wedding dinner. The rehearsal dinner. Why is this even allowed? Why are you guys letting Mike to, why are you giving Mike a microphone? I mean, they tried to stop him. They should have shot him. I see. They weren't trying hard enough. Someone needed to rip it out of his hands. Get violent. Right. Get violent. You need a gun. This is where the gun comes from. You need a gun.
[00:42:32] So Mike gets up there and he starts spilling secrets, including that Wesley had manhandled Jasmine and that Sheila and Diane knew about it. So we get the gasps. Everybody's shocked. Marcus wastes no time punching this boy in the face. Even though again, we've all, we have established that he has not abused that girl, but it's too late. He got punched in the face and now it all starts to come out.
[00:43:01] Jasmine does her big reveal that in the beginning of their relationship or prior to them getting married, Wesley did cheat. And of course, Marcus goes to punch him again, but they stop him. And Jasmine cheated back and she got an STI and she did not tell Wesley until he got the STI. And boom, that's the moment of the movie. Now, to me, I thought it was a good reveal,
[00:43:30] but then they show the flashback. And I guess if we hadn't watched them until, no, I won't even say that. If the flashback wasn't so iconic, I don't, I think it takes away from the movie. I think it, cause that's such a big moment. That's such a big moment. I love that they did the reference to it. I don't think they needed the flashback. I don't think you needed the flashback. I don't, the, who's watching this movie and not seeing the first two, or at least seeing the first one, you know, like,
[00:44:00] and even if you don't, I feel like every year around Thanksgiving, I get videos on my Tik TOK of like most iconic dinner scenes. And what, what do you know? Why did I get married? It's always in there. It's a household name at this point. Yeah. It's like, it's its own. If you have, even if you haven't seen the movie, which like, if you haven't seen the first one, why are you watching the third one? Right. But also like that moment is iconic. And I don't think that we needed to,
[00:44:29] it's almost like dumbing down for the audience. Like, Hey, remember this? I remember this. I could say, I could recite this whole scene from memory. Yeah. Muscle memory in there. Burned it to the back of my retinas. Yes. But I agree. You don't have to show people a footage of the moon landing. This is just as iconic. Okay. So that's all I'm saying. You just reference it. We know what you're talking about. Well, the moon landing is fake and this actually happened. Okay. I just want to, for, for clarity purposes, that was a joke. Everyone.
[00:44:59] I do believe in the moon landing. No, somebody heard you and was like, Oh, I know it. I knew it. She's a, and I bet she thinks the earth is flat too. Um, so this moment, the boom moment, it does kind of highlight what's been going on here. Um, and now it looks like Jasmine and, uh, Wesley are a lot like Marcus and Angela. Um, which I guess is fine. But I think again, the red flags are there.
[00:45:26] I think Angela and Marcus cannot say anything negative about this couple because they would have to hold up a mirror to themselves and say that we shouldn't have gotten married. And that's not something they've been willing to kind of own throughout this series. Right there. They're like, we got married and it was good. And it's important that we did. And we got through it and we fight, but we still love each other. But when she, they see it on their kids, they're like, we should put a stop to this, but we can't. Cause then we look like big old hypocrites.
[00:45:56] But like, maybe they should have just been like, you know, you could wait a little bit. Like, wouldn't, isn't it better that you want better for your kid? Like, I don't want my daughter to marry someone that is going to cheat on her. Yeah. I just think, listen, I made like Angela made her choices, right? Like I made my choices. I decided to get married to Marcus. I decided that I wasn't going to leave him even with the infidelity.
[00:46:25] That's my choice. That doesn't mean Jasmine has to make the same choice, especially when he's cheating before you're even getting married. Right. Um, he cheated on her. She cheated back. They got an STI and then they proposed and accepted said proposal. Now the math ain't math in. No. Again, the, the thought process is quite fun. And they're all so young. Like they're in their 20. There's no need to get married. It's like, there's no, like, what are we doing here?
[00:46:55] They don't need to like spend some time getting to like rebuild your relationship. If you want to stay together so badly. But again, we didn't really see why they needed to be together so badly. No, we don't. We don't see that at all. Um, this is the moment where Terry finally punches, uh, punches Mike in the face. And I'm thinking, okay, we don't need to see Mike again. We actually get a little, a little snippet of Mike basically being like, and that's why I'm not coming to the wedding. And he leaves. Um, but thank God you shouldn't have been there in the first place. Uh,
[00:47:24] eventually the family will go and talk to the kids because as you pointed out, they did this, the kids did this big old toast about how their parents are so perfect and there's nothing wrong. And they, they promised us that we made a vow that if we couldn't get married, like to somebody like y'all, we wouldn't, we wouldn't do it. We wouldn't get married at all. I said, um, let's start with,
[00:47:53] I guess the most perfect couple. I think we can all agree. Troy and Sheila. Troy and Sheila. They can, Denver can get away with this thought process in my mind because look at them. Look at them. They're so cute. We, they were a little off the rails in the second movie, but everybody was. Everybody was on some other stuff. Yeah, that was, this was a COVID movie. So I were no way actually, no, that wasn't a COVID movie. This was right after Michael Jackson died. So nevermind. I'm not, you know what?
[00:48:22] They have no excuse for that, but I'm ignoring the second movie to focus on this. There's such a cute couple. They're so supportive of one another. They're doing well in this movie. They just have some great moments with just like them appreciating each other in their old age. Cause really they're, they're drama in this movie. If you can even call it, that is just like, they have to, uh, they're taking care of Sheila's mom and they are worried about, like some of the big moments passing them by.
[00:48:52] So that seems like a pretty normal concern to have, especially as you age. Yeah. And I really like how Troy handled the, you know, the story of Sheila's mom having Alzheimer's. Cause they were talking to Troy and Troy's like, you know, we have our ups and downs. We, you know, we have some tough times and they said, Oh really? What's going on? And he said, I would let Sheila tell you that. Yeah. What? Another human who could keep a secret. Right. He wasn't in the original friend group. He came to a friend group late.
[00:49:21] He came late because I said, Oh look, you're going to let somebody else tell your business. Huh? Crazy. A concept. So yeah. He's practicing what he preached from the first movie of, I don't want your friends knowing our money situation right now. He's like, I don't, I am not going to tell them about your mother, uh, having Alzheimer's until you are ready to tell them. Yeah. And, uh, it seems like business is fine now. He's a, him and Sheila went into business together.
[00:49:50] I was trying to figure out how I felt about all of their like aged up looks, you know, they're still, to me, they're still relatively young. And so it's like, it's like, so if you're trying to make them look older, like, I don't know if there's, there's like some movie magic as well going on or if it's just them. Yeah. But you know, um, I appreciated all of them in this film. I loved them. Um, yeah, yeah. Yeah. It's a good photo. Yeah. But, uh, definitely, uh, Troy and Sheila, like, just look at them. They're, they're cuties. We love them.
[00:50:20] They're still going strong. That's, that's mom and dad right there. Troy has the patience of a saint because he hasn't killed Marcus yet. I mean, uh, yeah, he hasn't killed Mike yet. Honestly. And I'm like, you could kill, you could kill, you could kill Mike. He's a, he's a police officer. He could get away with it. I mean, he probably killed somebody before. Troy, just, just make him go away. No one's asking. No one's, no one's looking. Who's going to tell Angela? I don't think so.
[00:50:50] Yeah. They don't have much to air out to their kids. Uh, except it does look like Denver didn't know that, uh, uncle Mike had been abusing his mom. Uh, I feel like at least for Denver, this should be the end of the road for uncle Mike. Like, I don't want to see him around this boy anymore. Um, so. Give Denver more screen time in the move in the spinoff, whatever, whatever we're getting in there. I want to say, I don't know what, I don't know what they had planned for Denver there, but let them do something next time, please.
[00:51:18] The one Mike moment I really laughed at was when, um, Wesley, uh, was so upset. Well, we'll get to that, but Mike yells out like, tell us. I said, yeah, I'm with you. I'm with you on that one. I did laugh. I did laugh. That's my favorite line. Uh, so yeah, so that's, that's Sheila and Troy. Uh, like again, they, they're definitely on the come up here, you know, happy to see them together. Um, let's talk about Terry and Diane because I have some question marks around this reveal. So Diane,
[00:51:48] I love her. First of all, uh, she's been one of my favorite characters cause she's messy, but also that sometimes she's like reasonable, but then other times she's, she's shady. I kind of like Diane. She took a big dip in the second movie, but this, this move, I loved her in the first movie, big dip in the second movie. Cause like, what was she thinking? Third movie back on the up and up with Diane. Reminded me why I loved her so much. Yeah. We of course have to reveal that they're not perfect. Uh, you know,
[00:52:17] she had an affair. It was about 20 some years ago, but she did have an affair and, uh, it got rough and we worked through that. And I said, okay. Yeah. Cause we saw that in the film. And then Terry, who last, last episode of this podcast, you and I, we gave Terry so much credit for just existing. He wasn't in none of this stuff. He was just being a normal human or surrounded by crazy people. We said, we don't know why we were ranked him second because it's there. I regret it. This time around, I knew it didn't feel right. Terry,
[00:52:48] he reveals. Oh yeah. Well, you know, after that, I started having a bunch of one night stands and I started getting, I was like, what happened to fix it? Fix it. What happened to that? This man went out just letting around. Okay. Terry. Also, I'm sorry, Terry, your wife has an emotional affair, right? An emotional affair. And you get to sleep with people as like your revenge for it. But then you got mad at her at the,
[00:53:18] in the first movie when she implied that Kenya could not be yours because you got a paternity test. Like, let's talk about that. Terry. Yeah. Let's talk about that. Terry, just this movie. Yeah. Terry was so preachy too. Terry, stop fussing at us. Stop fussing at us. Okay. Terry was pissing me off. I'm sorry. Yeah. Yeah. Woo. Terry. It's tough. I always have smoke for Terry. Like I have, even when he's not doing anything wrong, he's still a little wrong to me,
[00:53:47] but you know, like that, that's just me. That's just me being me. Um, and you know what? I'm just, I think he's got some nerve. Definitely. TJ, his son would never, his son that he's so worried about would never. Yeah. He has a son that actually seems like a nice kid. And he's kind of like, but I think he needs to be more like the boys. All right. All right, Terry. You let it again. Have you seen your, like this one,
[00:54:15] one of the boys is getting their balls gripped by, I believe their stepmother because they wanted to join the mile high club. I think you're all set. Yeah. The paternity, again, the paternity is still a little wonky for me on that one. Cause she really, she, I mean, it's, I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. But anyway, let's, let's talk about Tasha and Marcus. Tasha was pretty one note in this film. It was just like, I'm mad at Marcus throughout. I love this outfit though. Yeah. Batty.
[00:54:44] So she's mad at Marcus throughout and she's mad, but she's mad at Marcus because of Marcus jr. I love that. They're in their rich era, right? We've seen them come all the way from, you know, struggling recession time to now they got some money. Thanks to a hot tip from Mike. And on the finance bros, Marcus took them up on that offer. And so now they're living the life of the rich and famous, but she's still, she's still Angela. And so she's going to do a lot of shouting. There's definitely the,
[00:55:13] she caught Regina and Marcus together. And she, of course you ran her out of the house. She, she revealed that to everybody once they were gone, but they told her, Hey, keep it to yourself because Mike will ruin the wedding. And they were right. Mike's going to ruin the wedding, but I liked, I liked Tasha. I just think that, you know, at some point, do you forgive Marcus or not? Because if you don't forgive him, leave him alone. I think there's,
[00:55:41] I think we're supposed to believe that she's just being like re-traumatized right now. But again, I, I understand her being pissed off at Marcus for this. Once we get to Italy and he like gives MJ a talk, like he actually talks to MJ. I'm like, what the fuck was that? No, you didn't talk to him. You're just like, Ray, uh, don't do that again. You know, wink, wink, nudge, nudge. I'm like, absolutely not fix yourself, Marcus. Cause what are you doing here? Yeah.
[00:56:11] He tells, uh, he needs to go talk to his son. And he basically tells his son, like, you know, I too wanted to have sex with all the dime pieces, but you can't have sex with all the dime pieces. Um, but yeah, be safe. LOL. You know, you know, what I'm saying? And. Great. Angela's like, this is not it. This is not it. She should have let Terry talk to her kid. And of course, uh, Marcus is offended by that because why would he want his child to act like TJ? Who we've only seen good things from, um,
[00:56:40] Marcus also is very threatened by Wesley. Wesley is coming for his records. He's also trying to marry his daughter. And so he doesn't like him throughout. He gets one good scene where he shows that he still got it in the weight room. And so that's pretty cool. Um, but yeah, Marcus and, uh, Angela conveniently, they don't reveal their baggage to their kids. You know, everybody's talking about why they're not perfect, but they basically say, yeah. And y'all are just like us. What do you mean by that? What does what happened? No,
[00:57:10] because what do you mean by that? Like, we're just like you. When you say that you mean like, what did you do? Yeah. Like teach me. Yeah. They haven't seen the home videos, right. You know what I'm saying? Like they somehow, they managed to keep this chaotic relationship under wraps. Somebody needs to tell these kids what's going on. Cause this one. Yeah. It doesn't make any sense. I don't believe that they don't know. I'm sorry. I don't, I don't believe it. Yeah. I, I'm, I too, I too don't believe it. It just,
[00:57:39] it doesn't make any sense. Um, we've talked about all the couples. We haven't talked about Mike and Regina because why would we? There's nothing really to share there. There's nothing to share. There's one couple that we have not talked about. Oh, you know, I saved them for last for a reason. So, um, we have to talk about our Janet Jackson replacement in this movie because, uh, perfect Patty is nowhere to be found. So we had to bring in another friend to the friend group and it is Taraji, AKA to Rosalyn.
[00:58:07] And Rosalyn is here and she's a business lady. She's got it all together. Uh, she's dating somebody feeling good about it, but her son is kind of bitchy these days. He just keeps whining and complaining about her all the time. And he doesn't really like her new boyfriend, uh, who we haven't met because she came on this trip solo. Um, she shows up in Italy. And when she gets there, we find out that her, uh, her boyfriend beat her there.
[00:58:37] And this is when we see the reveal that her boyfriend after, after all these, after what, two, three days of them talking shit about Regina for being 27 and dating Mike, uh, into Rosalyn's 27 year old boyfriend, Nick. Yeah. This one, this one. Right. And, um, I just don't like the cut of his jib. I said it. I, I hated this couple. I'm sorry. It's not for me. I don't. First of all,
[00:59:07] there's a couple of things I hate about this. First of all, perhaps, perhaps I'm the problem. Maybe. Perhaps I am not woke enough for this. Right. I'm just prefacing this. I think the age gap is weird. I do not personally have a problem with age gap relationships, especially when like, they're both adults in this. Like, you know, like I, that's your business. Age gap relationships in general do not bother me. When,
[00:59:37] the person you are dating is the same age or around the same age as your adult child. It is weird. I'm sorry. I agree. I don't, I, I, perhaps I am not as forward thinking as I thought, but this is where I draw the line. And he brought, he's like, he's probably, I think he's only like three years younger than Nick. And Nick is trying to be like one of the grownups. And I get he's almost 30, but I still think it's weird. I'm sorry. When Wesley said, Oh,
[01:00:06] did she tell y'all about him? And everybody's like, Wesley, chill, Wesley, chill. And Mike goes, tell us. I said, because I need to know what this big secret is. Um, the secret is that this was his middle school tutor. Yeah. And again, they're about the same age. And so that said, he was probably in high school. Yeah. When he was tutoring. Yeah. And it's not grooming because Taraji wasn't there. She said, I never met that man.
[01:00:35] That was when you would go, you drop off and pick up with, with Harvey. I never saw him before. Comma, but. I agree. It's weird. It's still weird. I think when you're in like that same general age range as you're like, you're dating someone in that same general age, maybe it's because they have like the direct comparisons in there, but it's weird to me. It's like a kid trying to sit at the grownups table. It's just out of place. The whole scene where he's like going to the ladies, he's like,
[01:01:03] so has Roz told you about us? And like, just wanted to let, like basically like telling your intentions. It feels like a child coming in, like a grownup business suit, ready to talk about, like, like his business proposal or stuff. I'm like, you're just weird. Like get away from me. Yeah. It's just two kids in a trench coat, you know, it looks like a grown man. They're just sitting on the beach on the shoulders. No. And they're like, Oh, well he seems like a very nice young man. I'm like, yes, a young man. Like, like, no, I'm sorry. It's weird.
[01:01:33] It's still weird. His biggest issue is that he doesn't have a peer group here because his only peer is Mike's girlfriend and she shouldn't be here. So, um, he can't fit with, he doesn't fit in at the grownups table. The kid's definitely looking at him crazy because he, their age, but he's like trying to date their play aunt. And so he really doesn't have anywhere to go. Now, my question is, how do you feel about him popping up in Italy on her? Because he said he didn't want to, he said he didn't want her to be alone with Harvey. No,
[01:02:02] I listen. I think it's weird to show up uninvited to anybody. Right. That's the sentence. Yeah. Like period. I think it's weird to show up uninvited anywhere. Showing up to surprise your girlfriend at a wedding. It's like who, first of all, who's paying for your plate? Cause weddings are not cheap. Um, so I think that is also weird. I don't know what the logistics behind that were. And I get this family has money, but I don't. So I'm thinking about this. I'm like, you're not like,
[01:02:32] you're not getting a fish or a chicken. Just so you're aware. And also like, you are showing up to surprise your girlfriend, whose son, who is around the same age as you is getting married. And he has made it clear. He does not want you there. He does not like you. Why are you here? This is not your time to be like the perfect boyfriend.
[01:03:01] And there's the moment where he's talking to Rosalyn and Rosalyn. And he's like, just tell me, you don't want me to be here and I'll leave. Just say it. Say, you don't want me to be here and I'll leave right now. She says, I don't want you to be here. You should leave. He grabs his shirt and storms out. And I thought, okay, that's the last we'll see of this man, because he's going to go back. No, when it's time for the big reveal for when, when they're talking about, you know, when, I guess when Rosalyn's finally confronting Wesley about his attitude toward her, or at least she's confront, he's confronting her.
[01:03:30] Nick just shows up out of nowhere and says, just tell him your dad was on drugs. What? Okay. First of all, I feel like I was a little bit of Wesley for a second. I'm like, first of all, you're not my dad. Mind your business. Yeah. Third of all, why are you still here? I do not want you to leave. I thought you left. Like, what? Were you hiding in the bushes waiting for the people to be? Tell us. Tell us. This, this was wild to me.
[01:04:00] I thought this man was gone. I was like, maybe I blinked. And there was like a scene where she's like, okay, you can stay for the weather. I don't know. The whole thing was weird. He rubbed me the wrong way. I, I, we, I think we're supposed to like him, but I think it's so weird. He's like coming in and trying to play stepdad. And like, in, in like the worst possible setting, uh, possible for this. Like it's, it's your future step-son's wedding. Who's around the same age for you. And he does not want you there. Go home.
[01:04:30] Go home. Go home. Who are you? Why are you here? Why are you even here? Yeah. I don't, I don't get it. Um, but again, she, they needed somebody. She needed to have a love interest, right? Like, uh, we brought her in. She is a divorcee. I'm sorry. I don't think so. I don't think she, but it's a Tyler Perry movie. So she's going to have her love interest, but I, I still think, I don't think he needed to be 27. I don't think he needed to be here at all. It was weird. And I don't like this couple. I did. And they, this is another one.
[01:05:00] They can't convince me they're in love. I'm sorry. You can't convince me. So, um, yeah, that's everybody. Do you want to, do you want to place these people? Tell us where you're ranking these people. Cause, cause you know, we were last, last movie was definitely who is the villain. This movie to me is not who is the villain. This movie is just like, let's, let's see how we like these people. Last, last movie was the Legion of doom. Okay. We had to talk about all of the discretions that were happening in front of our eyes. Yep. Well, murder last episode, last movie. So, you know,
[01:05:30] it was like, we saw a murder. So the, you know, the bar was in hell, but it was there. Um, I did not rank the kids. I can probably, I don't think you have to rank. They're not like the main. And I didn't rank Regina, but she's like right above Mike. If you needed to like, she's technically one of the couples, but I'm not really counting her. Like I barely wanted to count Mike, but you know, he's, he's been there. So we have to just for the girl alone. He's last place. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Um, so dishonorable mention,
[01:05:58] because I felt like they deserved it goes to Marcus jr and Wesley. Obviously it was just like, you both need to work on some stuff. Um, I almost hope they get one more movie so that we could see the kids kind of. On their own. On their own. Like, yeah, maybe a little cameo by, uh, Angela, but you know, we'll talk with, we'll, we'll send our ideas to Tyler later. But, uh, the Marcus jr and Wesley, definitely a dishonorable mention for you.
[01:06:28] They were definitely not be the worst, but you know, they're worse ish. They're down there. So bottom of the pyramid, I did do it in sections again. So we, okay. Bottom of the pyramid, Mike, obviously, um, he, he did make me laugh a couple of times. Uh, I feel like I, he gets a few chuckles out of me every movie, but, uh, you know, it was, it was, it was a whole thing, you know? And, uh, I think we're back to kind of old Mike. Second movie,
[01:06:56] tried to make him like the voice of reason at different parts. And it, it didn't work for me. And here it works even less. So Mike bottom of the pyramid followed by Marcus. Uh, you were too nonchalant about the wrong things here. And, um, I, I think you're not sorry enough for cheating on Angela, quite frankly. Um, I think that he, he could, uh, improve on that. I think he could do a little more groveling. Um, I know it's been 20 years, but I'm personally not over it.
[01:07:26] So just, just something for him to think about for our, uh, our continuation of this franchise. I give him cool points for the Lala X suit. I like the Lala X suit. I said, okay, I could, I do understand. That's why he's not, um, he's not below Mike. Exactly. Choices. Yes. Also, I just think he just was not really thinking this movie. I think he made like, he made a couple, two digs at TJ or not. Yeah.
[01:07:53] He made a couple too many digs at TJ for someone that acts as he does. And somebody that has also, uh, on an STD from other people from, as a result of his revenge cheating. So, uh, Marcus right above Mike for me. Uh, then our next tier, Nick, Nick, I don't like Nick. I don't want to see him again. Like, and this is nothing on the actor. Um, I have no issues with, with the actor himself. I, again, why are you here? Why are you here trying to play stepdaddy?
[01:08:23] I don't get it. And then, uh, followed closely by Rosslyn. I get, I get she was dealing with a lot, but your son is a grown man at this point. You could have told him the truth way before this. It's weird. The whole dynamics are weird. I don't, and you're dating someone around your son's age, which is weirder. So, uh, unfortunately I, I am not with it. And it, it's so hard for me to rank Taraji this low. Right? Right. Like I thought going into this movie, I never would have guessed,
[01:08:52] but it was rough. All right. Next here. Sheila. Next. Sheila. Okay. Okay. Here's what I'm thinking. Okay. Everybody else didn't do too much wrong. Right. Everybody left, but also Sheila has like, she, she's ready to square up with Wes without even letting him speak. So I think that's a second thought. Probably the, not the best. I also think they probably could have handled them.
[01:09:21] Like driving to go check on them. I've club a little better, but she's got trauma. So I understand, but also the scenes with the camera did kill me. It was very funny. Anytime. Mapping pictures. We love, we love Sheila. Next is Terry. He just pissed me off. Yeah. He just pissed me off sometime. So. I, but I, I gotta give him a point for, he punched Mike. He punched Mike. That's why he's above Sheila. Okay. She should have punched Mike. I honestly,
[01:09:50] she was pretty high up when she hit him with the wine bottle in. Oh yeah. So she was second, second on the pyramid in the first movie. So, you know, maybe a little, maybe sometimes violence is the answer. So at least here it is. It is in this ranking. Um, and then, so Terry, he just, he's again, worried about the wrong thing. Sir, get it together. I did like where, so even though I think the,
[01:10:18] them telling their kids all of their like relationship trauma in the past was a little weird. Right. I think like, you know, we didn't need to do all that. I do like the sentiment he shared about like, you know, we shouldn't be like sweeping stuff under the rug. Right. Like we shouldn't be hiding our traumas under the rug like this. Like this should be stuff that we tell our kids so that they don't think we're perfect like this. I think it's kids might be a little dumb. Cause how did you not know that? But that's a separate issue. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. A question. Did you notice, uh,
[01:10:47] Marcus jr's reaction when he found out that Angela had cheated on, on, uh, Marcus senior. No, he's like, Oh no. Oh my God. I was like, Oh yeah. Yeah. She's like, I cheated too. He's like, wait, no, no, no, no. I was like, wait a minute. Hold on. He didn't flinch when his dad said I cheated on her so many times and I kept cheating and I wouldn't, and I wouldn't stop. Yeah. I had to go therapy and it turns out I was, and I do it again. And I would do it again. He said, uh, it turns out I, someone broke my heart when I was very young. I was like, Oh my God,
[01:11:16] your third grade girlfriend. You're going to blame her for this. Uh, but when Angela said, yeah, I cheated too. It was like too much for him. And that's why I was like, is that just step mom? Because. I don't know. It just, I felt like, like that wouldn't be a reaction. I would, you know, we always have that weird. I mean, it's been in the other two movies too, where it's just like weird about like, they're, they're so weird about men physically cheating versus how like women cheating in any form. Like them also saying that like, Terry got some one night stands in,
[01:11:44] but also Diane had an emotional affair. And that's worse than like, if I just slept around with a bunch of people, it's just, it's, they've always been weird about it. But also Marcus, you, you got to work on your own stuff. Like, mind your business. Focus on you. Yes. So Terry, Terry is, uh, is next. He, he pissed me off at some moments. I think Terry's just always going to piss me off a little bit, but you know, he was, he's there. Third,
[01:12:14] third place, our bronze medal. Diane. Diane. I knew it. I knew it. Perfect. Uh, I, I miss this Diane. I enjoyed her practical, little shady. Little shady. I miss the Diane from the first movie. Um, she's still a little, you know, like domesticated now, but that's okay. We get it. You know, this is, uh, she's grown, she's grown with grown kids, but I am, you know, I love Diane. She's third.
[01:12:42] I think that she didn't do a lot wrong this movie. Um, and it was just fun to have her back. I hated movie too. I did Diane. I, yeah, I had a ranked at three as well. I knew I was so hoping that you were going to as well. The one little thing I would give her like a demerit for, is she did immediately run back and tell Terry what that girl said. I know. I'm like, part of me is like not mad about it. Cause I'm like, this is her husband. I kind of get that. But also like,
[01:13:12] it's not your guys. It's the messiest friend group of all time. You know, like if you were going to go tell Terry, you should have just told Angela. I know exactly. This is cause you knew what was going to happen. It was going to get there eventually. But then also that's why Terry is below Diane. Cause what your wife told you something and you're telling your friends right away. Absolutely not. That's not how that works. He immediately was like, we need to tell the parents. I was like, Terry, listen, you're right. You're not wrong, but you're not right. I did not come with this confidential information to let,
[01:13:41] for you to spill it immediately. Like, right. Can we just, can we spill some tea sometimes? Damn. Can we just talk? Can we just chop it up? We can't just gossip between the two of us. That was, that was in our marriage vows. Like what is this? Family don't gossip no more. That's the problem. The problem is, this is the problem with marriages today and with family dynamics. You're not just gossiping with your family unit anymore. Right. You're all outside the household. Tell everybody you're busy. No one's giving side eye to their siblings at the Thanksgiving table when, uh, their auntie says something insane. Right. Yeah.
[01:14:10] You gotta make eye contact with somebody from across the room. Kids don't take the walk. They don't take the walk anymore. They don't. They don't take the walk. As somebody who still takes the walk. I'm gonna tell you, I be by myself. I'll be by himself. We're losing recipes. We're losing recipes. Okay. Who's, who's number two? Our silver medalist is Angela. Okay. It has to be. Why Angela? I think she's valid for, uh, telling Marcus she needed to,
[01:14:40] he needed to talk with his son. I think she was on the money with how he was acting throughout this. She had to wrangle him in when nobody else was going to. She was rightfully, uh, concerned about like her daughter and their relationship. At once she found out the truth that people were not telling her. And. Sheila, Angela was the only one that was telling you that Mike was cheating on you way back when. Mm.
[01:15:08] And you're not going to tell her about, you're not returning the favor. To be fair, Angela kept it to herself for a minute. You know, it wasn't completely, it wasn't long. It wasn't. Patricia told her to. Yeah. She would have. She was, she was wrong for that though. She should have told her right away. Yeah. I could never, I could never. I tell somebody immediately, but anyway, anyway, but she looked great. She was feeling herself as she should. I loved Angela. She's just, I,
[01:15:38] I'm sick of everybody acting like I'm sick of this friend group acting like Angela is the problem when it's all of them that can't have honest conversations with people. Cause the minute she had an issue with Marcus, who knew Marcus. Yeah. Um, gold medalist, Troy. Gold medalist for, uh, the second movie in the, in a row is Troy. Did nothing wrong. Continues to be. No one's surprised.
[01:16:05] Continues to be a great husband to Jill Scott. Seems to have raised a nice young man who knows how to keep his mouth shut. Uh, supportive, did everything right. Looks great with gray hair. That's what happens when you are nice to your wife. Just, you know, mark that down for anybody listening. And, uh, yeah. So, but I, there's not really anything we could say negative about Troy this movie, but you know, I think, uh, he's kind of the,
[01:16:34] I know everybody looks at Terry. Like he is like the sensible one of the group. That's kind of how he's framed itself. It's Troy. It's Troy. It's Troy. It's Troy. It's Troy's not worried about any of this stuff. No. And I give him bonus points because when they found out that Mike was drunk in the club, they were gathering the guys to go get Mike. And they say, Troy, you want to come? He goes, no. That's it. Right. Exactly. So yeah. he's backrocketed to the top of my rankings from there and he never fell down off. One thing.
[01:17:02] One thing about Troy is he has been on business three movies in a row. This is the most consistent character they have. And I love him. He's great. Yeah. That's why did I get married? The, the, the series we did, we did the whole cinematic universe. Yeah. Um, so that was fun. If you liked us talking about why did I get married? Go talk, go check us out talking about, uh, how to ruin Christmas. Uh, we're very big in South Africa. Yeah.
[01:17:32] You know, South Africans go up for us, but yeah, if y'all want a South African version of this, this, uh, trilogy that we just did go check out our, why did I ruin Christmas playlist? Um, you can go and, uh, check that out as a South African drama, but it's got the same vibes of chaotic wedding. I baby shower. The storylines are just as, if not more juicy in what, in, uh, how to ruin Christmas. And it's a fantastic show. Only like three or four episodes a season at an hour each. It's fantastic. Yeah.
[01:18:02] So I totally agree. And, um, Gia, you and I have something coming up soon that we have to bring back. Um, it's the return of Abbott elementary once again. And so for like the third or fourth season in a row, Gia and I will be covering Abbott elementary, elementary bi-weekly, um, checking in on episodes two at a time, uh, and dropping them here on our YouTube page, recap, kickback.com slash subscribe. We'll get you the audio version of the podcast, but youtube.com slash at recap, kickback, um,
[01:18:32] we'll give you the video version of our coverage of Abbott elementary. It is our favorite show. We love talking about it. And I'm so happy that it's back again. Gia, I cannot wait. You know what, you know what I'm excited about too, is that I don't think I went into this year kind of preparing for an announcement that season six would be their final season. We have gotten no such thing. So I think we're going to at least be around for a seventh season. Cause Abbott elementary and like we,
[01:19:00] we ourselves are watching enough to get it renewed for a seventh season. So, um, but I am very excited for that. I've been waiting for Abbott elementary. I feel like I've just, it's, I've had a lull for a while. I've missed it and I'm so excited for it to be back. I can't wait to see what this new season brings. It sounds like they have a lot of great ideas going into the season. So I can't wait to be talking about it. Yeah. And, uh, what else you have going on Gia? Tell everybody where they can find you. So, uh,
[01:19:30] big brother, uh, I was about to say big brother 51, big brother 28 just ended last night. Yes. Congratulations to, uh, Rick Devens and Taylor Brown, um, for, uh, placing first and second and big brother. But now that that is over, you know what that means? Survivor is back. And so am I with our weekly recaps on inside survivor with Christine. Um, so I write there weekly about each episode.
[01:20:00] So go check those out. I will be back soon with more articles on bed on black, especially as we're getting to the end of the year, where I do some recaps about some of my favorite reality TV contestants of the past year. And, uh, yeah, we'll stay tuned for some more, uh, things coming up as, uh, Chappelle and I have been talking about some potential, uh, bet on black episodes, or maybe a potential recap series that we'll be doing. So stay tuned for more about that. And then you can follow me on Twitter, Instagram,
[01:20:29] Tik TOK, and blue sky at classic. Yeah. All right. And you can catch me on, uh, all social media platforms at recap kickback. [01:20:59] Latanya Starks says she's returning to recap kickback, a fan favorite Latanya Starks. And so we'll see, uh, what she and I cook up. I think we're going to do a review of lanterns. Um, and so, uh, yeah, if you like lanterns, check us out, we'll have that for you. Matt Scott will be joining Chantel and I in two weeks to talk about the reunion of rock of love. So we're bringing back some of the, uh, the OGs here for recap kickback, but the only way to make sure you have everything is to subscribe. So make sure you're locked in, subscribe, hit that like button on this video. If you haven't already,
[01:21:26] because we got to get these videos out to other people so they can see it. Uh, and tune in next week to see what we have in store until next time for Gia. And for myself, uh, we will catch you on the flip side. Peace. I've been traveling.
